just want to pause and appreciate how much i am enjoying this moment in my particular hockey fandom niche. there's nothing better than having a new prospect ship hit big. regular content! good fic! new pals with new perspectives! renewed connections with old pals! new travel to plan, new settings to explore, new guys to make up! maybe the best part of prospect fandom is that every two or three years it delivers this fantastic burst of new creative energy. i love that it's a renewable resource.

Aang is better than me when it comes to Zuko in that one scene because Zuko, who while he may be my friend, he is also, not only, from the Fire Nation (a place that directly played/plays a role in disrespecting Aang's culture) but also a prince, the son of the man trying to kill him [Aang] and the grandson of the man who is responsible for killing and wiping out my culture. While some of those things aren't Zuko's fault, he does still project their system and doesn't shy away from mocking Aang's culture and pacifism to his face, something that he should be one of the LAST people to do. If I were Aang, Zuko and I would have had to take a walk outside, because ain't no way you're getting away with that.

“Vi,” he says and she shudders. She hopes he doesn’t notice. He’s still speaking in that same soft voice, and he so seldom calls her anything other than Violence, sometimes, rarely, Violet. Most of the time, he calls her nothing at all. She isn’t sure he’s ever called her ‘Vi’ before. It feels more intimate than it should be coming from him. By some mercy, he doesn’t comment on how her body betrayed her when he continues speaking, ”I do think we need to talk about this, actually, because it sounds like you think you’re the only one who’s been faithful in this marriage.”

She does turn around at that. Does it without even thinking. Gods, of all the things she thought he might say, it had certainly never been that. Did he really just imply that he hasn’t been with anyone else during their marriage? Exactly how stupid does he think she is?

Angers surges into her, red hot and volatile. She feels her power rise with it, desperate for an outlet, for destruction. She almost feels relief at this feeling of something other than bone deep despair or world-stopping numbness that have been her constant companions for months and months.

“Don’t lie to me,” she hisses. “Don’t you fucking dare.”
