about pixies

Pixies, are also known as empis. A common "domestic pest" of the Magic Realm. Totally like mosquitoes with magic instead of water, because there are as many as there are humans –actually more, and they hardly find their fated-ones.

Food and behavior

A pixie is born as each intelligent humanoid creature takes its first breath. There may be sister or look alike pixies if their humanoids companions are twins of any type.

They are born in earthstarlike fungi thingies spontaneously created by Nymfea as she moves through Magix.

The problem is that a pixies don’t die unless they are bonded to their fated-ones (and they died first) or they are hunted or predated, but time and disease do not affect them. For that, they become known as a pest.

They haunt magical places and feed on environmental magic with the help of their tails which acts as a proboscis/sting in pixie form. In animal form they nibble or whatever their form allows.

They are usually 80% disguised as animals (Which has made that while being born in Magix, now they are on almost all the planets) although they have a "society" with base in Magix where they are free to go in their pixie form.

As they feed on magic, they can damage magical artifacts and will do it, they are kinda asocial but somewhat naughty as response as how they are seen by the Tall Ones. Technically they could feed on living beings with magic but that would imply touching said human and they have to be quite upset with someone or attached to him to do that. They would feed itching with its tail to said human/animal OR touching them with their wings, it is a matter if they like you or not.

They are sweet-toothed, perceive flavors with their antennae and are gluttonous so the less educated can bury themselves in cakes to enjoy the flavor and happyly annoy the cook. If they respect you a little, they will catch a portion with their tail, and from there, they will fiddle with their antennae.

They communicate with each other with something that sounds like buzzing to us. With humans they communicate like bees with each other, according to flight patterns, although it’s somewhat more obvious because they leave a dust behind. BTW Pixie powder/dust is used in spells and potions related to movement, change, evolution, and prediction but it is commonly considered more annoying than anything else as it causes hives on contact with the skin and it is everywhere.

Bodies

Pixie bodies are the size of a butterfly with really big eyes and non-binary gender and sex. they choose their pronouns but they can change they mind as they flip their wings.

They eat the magic absorbing it through the wings or their long long tail, so they do not have a mouth. But they have antennas to emit sounds and perceive flavors as well as smells.

Their wings are three times their size, all with the same shape but a different pattern that extends to their skin and is as distinctive as a fingerprint. The wings are solid and form their magic core which exposes them a lot.

Much of their magic involves use their wings in one way or another, plucking them is killing them, touching them is violent even when it is easier to touch a wing than the pixie itself. the exceptions are the fated-ones and those they consent to.

They can "wrap themselves" in their wings and take the form of an animal of a size relatively similar to theirs, something bigger or smaller. Technically they can transform into large animals, but they end up looking like miniaturized versions and the point is to camouflage themselves. So they tend to transform into things like small birds, mice, or insects.

Although after this transformation most of the pixies tend to manifest, not under their control, a white spot on the animal's withers, at the point where the wings would join.

If they have bonded with their fated-ones, they can transform themselves into creatures of 150cm / 4.9 ”and this increases to disproportionate sizes like elephants with a good magic infusion from their companion (if that partner has magic).

They are one of the few creatures that neither benefit nor are they harmed by Wild Magic, although they cannot transmit that gift.

More magic things about pixies

They also have a Talent that is almost always something abstract, not like witches or fairies who can have everything. They use their talent in the smallest things, it is unconscious, like breathing.

They name themselves at times referring to these Talents, although their name in their language, in the intermediate and in common are two very different things So maybe in their name it is makes sense and in ours only they swaps to a similar sound.

In the same way that there are entomophobia and entomologists, there are both empisphobia and people who tried the empistomologist route, but the former is more common. Among the latter however there are theories that the talents of a pixie say something or work with something of the human they are joining.

The Winx began to become famous because the talents of their pixies allowed them to get together and made it easier to meet them, they are a very popular case in the community of fans of the pixies.

A bond is very very rare. What is the possibility that you will find your identical twin in the world?

By bonding with someone, the pixie gains more power, the ability to speak telepathically with all the races with which their partner is able to communicate and the ability to change into larger animals... and therefore dangerous because pixies are not that nice, not bad but not nice either. But as a con also get a life “counter”. Although the life expectancy in this redux is very long.

The human part "win" a fussy lifelong familiar or a even more quirky mutant cat more than anything. And the blessing of immunity to their dust itchiness and their bites itchiness in pixie form.

...Unless they the Tall Ones have little or none magic, then they go up one level on the magic user ladder we might say. (No user– user of magic arthifacts - witch/fae - almost deidified fae/witch - Etherweirdos)

The Red Shoes (Bourne) - gorgeous, lyrical, funny with some very nice period dance pieces and AMAZING set changes (the onstage proscenium arch swivelled to show backstage). It's Matthew Bourne. The Play That Goes Wrong (Duchess) - imagine an amateur theatre company, and then imagine every possible thing that could go wrong. And hurt yourself laughing.  Several times. Twelfth Night (NT) - We are stylish.  You are peasants.  Everyone is gay or at least bisexual.  And of course the Elephant is a drag club, it's Antonio's local. Boudica (Globe) - FIGHT.  Never fucking forget you're a queen and that you will have bloody vengeance, and then fucking yell London Calling to the heavens. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (Old Vic) - Daniel Radcliffe and Joshua Maguire are here to be confused at you, and the Player King is here to really confuse you.  Hamlet is here to drink cocktails in a deckchair on the boat to England. Twelfth Night (Globe) - Fuck the text, we're going to go to the 70s on a disco cruise ship, crash into a scottish island, and everyone is going to dance at all times, wear kilts and have terrible mullets.  Olivia's going to be in her 40s and be seduced by Sebastian in one seriously sexy tango. Bring your inner diva. Much Ado About Nothing (Globe) Mexican Revolution. Horseback done by puppetry and stillts.  Full. On. Beatrice and Benedick sniping.  A seriously menacing Don Pedro. 'Nothing rhymes with senorita but...’ *audience* 'Margarita!' 'Oh, not bad...' And achieved the impossible by making Dogberry make sense for once by having him be an American film director who can't speak the language. Oslo (Harold Pinter) - documenting all the behind the scenes meetings of the Oslo accords, where they achieved the miracle of getting the Palestinians and Israelis to sit in a room and talk to each other.  unbelievably tense, utterly brilliant. Tristan and Yseult (Globe) - Everyone needs love.  You may go back to being part of the Unloved. You also need to do it in a funny, impressionist dance and song way with lots of trailing red cloth. Wings (Young Vic) - recovery from a stroke, from the point of view of an ex wing-walker rediscovering her sense of self, memories and ability to communicate.  And btw, Juliet Stevenson will do all this while mostly spinning on a trapeze above the audience.

The worst (avoid like the plague)

Common (NT) This was TURGID.  and DREARY.  And REPETITIVE. I actually wrote a blog post on how much I hated it. Against (Almeida) - Elon Musk-alike decides to rediscover himself by going out and talking to people across America, do some really terrible journey of Jesus allusions, and say absolutely fucking nothing but does disappear up his own arsehole.  Only even vaguely watchable due to Ben Whishaw.
