Celtic Zodiac (Trees)
The Celtic Zodiac is an astrological system that is based on the beliefs and mythology of the ancient Celts, who lived in Europe during the Iron Age and Medieval Periods. The Celtic Zodiac is closely related to the Irish, Welsh, and Scottish cultures, and it is believed to have originated in Ireland around 500 BCE.
The Celtic Zodiac is based on the cycle of the moon and consists of thirteen signs, each of which is associated with a specific tree or plant. Each sign represents a different personality type, and each person is believed to be born under a particular sign.
The thirteen signs of the Celtic Zodiac are:
Birch (December 24 - January 20)
Rowan (January 21 - February 17)
Ash (February 18 - March 17)
Alder (March 18 - April 14)
Willow (April 15 - May 12)
Hawthorn (May 13 - June 9)
Oak (June 10 - July 7)
Holly (July 8 - August 4)
Hazel (August 5 - September 1)
Vine (September 2 - September 29)
Ivy (September 30 - October 27)
Reed (October 28 - November 24)
Elder (November 25 - December 23)
Each sign is associated with specific traits and characteristics, and these are believed to be influenced by the tree or plant that is associated with the sign. For example, people born under the Birch sign are said to be creative and motivated, while those born under the Reed sign are believed to be empathetic and intuitive.
The Celtic Zodiac was an important part of Celtic culture, and it was used for both personal and societal purposes. The signs were used to determine the best time for planting and harvesting crops, as well as for predicting the future and making important decisions. Today, the Celtic Zodiac is still studied and used by those who are interested in Celtic culture and astrology.

Whether it's real or not (honestly I'm not sure if either are real) a miracle box based on the Celtic tree box would have a lot of potential (since each sign has two or three animals associated with it).
Yeah it's hard to say.
I've found a lot of website that talk about the personalities of the Celtic Zodiac (plant and animal alike) like it is real, but I've also seen some insist that it is fake, made up by someone who was studying the Celts and druids and fabricated a plausible Zodiac tied to the lunar cycle and nature.
And for roleplaying thought I looked a little bit into the actual druids to see if I could truly do them tied to nature/plant magic cause some insisted they weren't actually tied to nature all that much so I wanted to really check on that; the video didn't answer but I found out the druids apparently didn't write down stuff and recorded their history through speech, and so the much we got of them is from the Romans who didn't like them so there's not a lot known about the druids and what is known could be debatable if true as the Romans didn't like them.
I'll have to do more research around the Celts for sure, as I've only brushed the surface, but from my current stand point, a lot is kinda up in the air. I do think the possible Celtic Zodiac would be fun to write miraculous wise. And that's the pro of fanfiction, you can write whatever you want. Whether the Celtic Zodiac is real or not, it can could be played with in fanfic.

Do you have any ideas for a Celtic/Gaelic miracle box?
Ooh that's quite a tricky one I'm afraid the closest one I have myself is a general European Miracle Box with connections to the traditional western zodiac. There is a Celtic Zodiac though but unfortunately there's quite a bit of overlap with Miraculous that already exist in canon.
There's the Deer/Stag which is already in the Native American Box, the Cat and of course we have the Black Cat or just Cat depending on your preference, the Adder (we're already going to have two snakes, Sass and whatever snake is in the Native American box), the Fox (Trixx), the Cow/Bull (we have Stompp who's an Ox but still), the Seahorse which is our first one without a canon Miraculous (I have my own Seahorse kwami Akwwa the kwami of Generosity), then another kwami we don't have the Wren, back to canon we have the Horse (Kaalki), now the next one is the Salmon or Fish there was a fish miraculous in the original concepts for the series a pair of earrings or cufflinks which you could draw inspiration from but there is a Salmon miraculous in the Native American box so you'd either have to stick with the generic fish like Sass or Barkk who are just generic animals or go with a more specialized fish like a pike or carp, after that we have another new one the Swan (I have a swan kwami as well as does my friend @mymiraclebox. My Swan is named Duchess and represents Reflection and theirs is named Prrince and represents Loyalty), next we have another dud the Butterfly although it could easily be changed to a moth (I have a moth kwami named Atticus who represents Oblivion), the final two are out as well unfortunately with the Wolf/Hound and the Falcon/Hawk since we have a Wolf and Falcon kwami in the Native American Box and we have Barkk (although a Hawk can be distinct enough to be its own kwami I myself have a Falcon and a Hawk)
In general I think you'd have to get creative to make a Celtic box with either entirely new animals or you'd have to move just far enough away from the original Zodiac to be distinct but still recognizable.
In the case of the latter I'd probably go with
Reindeer or Moose for the Stag
Lynx for the Cat
Adder could probably still work I mean I have a Rattlesnake along with Sass
Arctic Fox instead of the Fox although personally I think that'd be towing the line a little much
Aurochs for the Cow/Bull
Unicorn or maybe Kelpie for the Horse
Moth like I said for the Butterfly
Jackal for the Dog/Hound
And then you can still use the Seahorse, Wren, Fish, Swan, and Hawk from the original set. I'd also probably add a few others because the other Zodiac Boxes aren't just the zodiac so I'd suggest maybe a Nightingale, Squirrel, Toad, Weasel/Polecat, Buzzard, Hedgehog, Robin, and or Badger
I hope this was useful sorry I couldn't help more 🙂

Freja (76) is a dark sorceress and goddess of love, beauty and witchcraft. This depiction reminds me of the Chariot tarot card. She is a daughter of Saturn. Her Norse equivalent is Frigga (77).

Anyone noticed a correlation between the deities they're drawn to and their zodiac??
I have Sagittarius sun, cancer moon, and Taurus rising. The main deity I work with and have the closest bond with is Brighid who is associated with fire, water, and cattle (all of which correlate with my zodiac)
Anyone else experienced this?

Oh great witchstorian, I bring to you an offering of tea and coffee and the promise of "I owe ya one" in return for an answer to a question of mine:
Do you know what that big deal about "Celtic astrology" is? Which group did it come from? Where's the rest of the context necessary to understand it? Or was it created recently and then applied backwards?
~Jasper from @jasper-pagan-witch
Ohhhhh THAT.... -claps on the hat-
Okay so, here's the thing. The ogham letter calendar? That exists. We have evidence of it dating back to the single-digit CE years. That's just how some Celtic peoples marked their year.
The Celtic Tree Calendar setup we see today, particularly the mapping of the tree calendar onto a "zodiac," is an entirely modern invention. It was invented by Robert Graves, yet another contribution to modern paganism from his novel, The White Goddess. (Honestly, I don't know how anyone can look down their nose at pop culture paganism when so much of Wicca and nondenominational paganism based upon Wicca can trace its' roots - pun fully intended - back to fiction and poetry from the 1940s.)
Graves was one of those people who was REALLY into trying to figure out what the ancient Druids were up to, and he made an attempt to figure that out by charting the mythology of Ireland, England, and certain parts of mainland Europe and the Middle East. One of the theories he put forward in The White Goddess was this idea of a tree calendar that more or less followed the same model as the Greek zodiac we're all familiar with from our daily horoscopes.
Now, witches, pagans, and New Agers just LOVE a good zodiac, and while there are many ways of casting a horoscope or calculating a birth chart, the systems do not always overlap or work in the same ways. But since when have details mattered when you can have a tree instead of a constellation for your birth sign, or a "Native American Moon Zodiac" infographic that just looks so cool and free-spirit-y on your Facebook page?
So yeah. When you see anything referring to a "Celtic tree calendar" that presents the idea as an astrological system? Completely modern invention.
Is it fun? Absolutely. Is it a neat thing we can do if we want? Sure.
Is it real in the sense of being created or used as an astrological device by pre-Christian Celtic pagans? Not even remotely.
Hope this answers your question!
