before i get too deep into my re* read of a Different comic id like to make it known that i just read Mr Boop and it was insane in a really very good way. my closest frame of reference for the Era of comics its parodying is Tails Gets Trolled. and my closest frame of reference for the Type of comics its parodying is

in a lot of ways its like scoob and shag in that the characters are sort of just Representative of Pop Culture Mascots instead of like. being The Guy From The Thing. but its less sincere i think, and more on purpose esoteric. it sprawls in a far different way

it's also kind of uniquely modern internet, and maybe even Specifically modern Twitter, becuase both in world and in real the "mr boop guy" could actually like. be described as "the mr boop guy." he had virality that was real, and was Plot Relevant in an extremely overblown way, and was poked fun at. like if justin mcelroy and tim robinson werent in the finale video and if you hadnt seen a mr boop page one time back when you used twitter a year and a half ago then you mightve thought it was obscure and shit and the in universe virality was just wishful thinking or some other kind of neurosis like the rest of the last part. idk how to phrase this really i think you get what i mean though

i liked it. it was insane and conceptually ambitious and the homestuck part jumpscared me so hard

also. if you read mr boop. you should read "mr group" afterwards. it's a . TANGENTIALLY related comic, which is basically predicated on the aforementioned virality. its a far more io branded type of insane, and it's funny in a less jaw dropping absurd way and in more of a confused and intrigued way. i don't know if it's planned to continue or anything? if it isn't then the ending is ridiculously funny to me

i also read crimehot. im not posting about crimehot here. its solid though even if youre not into it. its really funny to have read mr boop and to read the beginning of crimehot and just be going to yourself "yeah this was written by the mr boop guy"

what’s the wildest scooby doo mystery inc lore you got

where do i START idk many people who’re into scooby doo and i am Not figuring out if there’s a scooby doo fandom or not so these takes are entirely my own and i am also not tagging this as scoob doo. ALSO this is going to be completely incoherent but thanks for the ask anyway <3  with SDMI it’s hard to choose just one scrap of wild lore. yeah you can go the funny route and say “there’s a character named Hotdog Water and she’s integral to the plot” or “daphne dates in-universe taylor lautner and he’s called baylor hotner, but he’s seriously an insane clown” or “scooby almost gets a girlfriend but it turns out she’s possessed by a higher being and they stay friends” or “there’s a nazi parrot”  or “Char Gar Gothakon is their Cthulhu and was written by H.P Hatecraft, and in the same episode they introduce a random dude who appears like. three times in the series and the final time it’s him revealing he still remembers the timeline that the mystery gang reset” (btw. the gang reset the timeline. ) ...which this list gets less funny as the points go on but it’s a showcase of how much stupid SHIT is in this show. I adore it for that so much, especially since it came out after what’s new scooby doo and set itself up as something darker with hints of plot and from what i remembered, actually delivered? sure, it’s still pretty monster of the week-y but things carry over through the series instead of resetting at the end of the ep. the payoff is out there but i think it pays off. oh, and with the darker theme? I don’t think it goes too hard into that where it feels like it was a reboot done by the CW lol. oh im getting off topic... anyway i think my favourite wildest lore is probably the fact that there are multiple “gangs” though the earth timeline, they all solve mysteries, have a group of 4 humans and 1 talking animal. and the animal corrupts and splits them apart pretty much every time. sometimes through murder. this is due to the influence of an evil being manipulating the animal but Goddamn! A fucking donkey blew up Crystal Cove and killed the friar gang iirc. also im pretty sure one of these gangs started WW1 somehow but don’t quote me on that because i don’t fuuuuuuuuuuuuully remember. wowowow I rambled way too much about this !! it was fun though, i really gotta give this series another rewatch. i always get halfway through season one and then take a break, forget every thing, then i don’t wanna watch the rest of it due to forgetting. there’s only two seasons it really shouldnt be that hard

with cullen ik he went through all that at the circle in ferelden. and then in kirkwall meredith was coddling him quite a Lot but. despite seeing first hand all the mages in kirkwall were put through in and out of the circle. and then seeing meredith be like yeah they all need to be killed actually because Maybe one of them Is a blood mage oh also this is entirely justified btw (: and. not a single templar, cullen or otherwise, is like. you know what maybe this is a little extreme and we should take a step back.

not saying literally only cullen is at fault there but they had years. so many moments to realise that the treatment of mages here is Entirely unjustified. and then they just. didnt. then they saw what happened at kirkwall and were still like. yeah we're right (: and lord it makes me Insane

tbh the entire chantry and the seekers and the templars are just one Huge Echo Chamber of Nonsense where no one's mind seems to change no matter what happens. somehow?????? god i am going to start biting things. idk what point im even trying to make here

like at what point in inquisition does cullen redeem himself. idk maybe he does but isn't that only. sort of. with his own romance route?? idk!! i don't wanna put myself through that dhdhdjfhff anyway. not to say he's an objectively bad character or even that youre Not Allowed to like him. he is just. a little dense 💕 and also if anything should Not be a romance option for a mage unless he like at Some point within the game actively changes his templar ideology for the better. but even then. idk. doesn't feel good scoob

since its on my mind cause im rereading it rn ima reccommend Pandora Hearts by Mochizuki Jun (manga are books basically).  The starting premise is that this kid named Oz is told by a mysterious cult-like group that his existence is a sin and is banished to separate dimension called the Abyss as punishment.  In the Abyss, he meets a “chain” (which is kind of like a demon) who takes the form of a girl named Alice.  They escape the Abyss together and decide to help each other in their goals; Alice wants to regain her memories that have been scattered in the world and Oz wants to find out why his existence is supposedly a sin.  (the plot gets hella expanded past that but thats just the first couple chapters)

anyway, things i enjoy about it:

the characters are great.  Theres a pretty big cast and theyre super well developed with unique personalities, backstories, and motivations 

the plot twists are Insane. like when stuff happens it completely blows your mind but then when you go back the clues were there the whole time and stuff you think might be plot holes are actually connected to huge reveals later on. its just super well done

theres a lot (a lot) of sad stuff in it but it still manages to have a overall hopeful atmosphere. nothing is done for shock value so the tragic events are poignant and meaningful 

it uses a lot of alice in wonderland imagery and references, but it isnt a remake/retelling. the effect it has it pretty cool  

the art is super pretty. like its pretty decent in the beginning but the improvement over even just the first 20% of the story is amazing and the entire rest of the series is gorgeous

its just so so good imo
