Andy is finally, finally seeing Sullivan’s true colours and is calling him out on his bullshit, too. This show has been going on for far too long without verbally acknowledging what he is doing to every.single.woman. in his life. But now we got this. Now we got Andy pointing a finger at him and his misogynistic behaviours, and we got Andy being angry, on Natasha’s behalf, because if Sullivan couldn’t treat herself right, then at least he shouldn’t do the same to Natasha, but also on her own behalf, because she realizes how incredibly toxic his words and actions are, and it’s really about damn time we finally got to see this, and I am hoping this means she can finally move away from him for good and that Natasha will be able to do the same, because no way in hell is that man ever gonna change into a person who sees or cares about anyone but himself when it comes to climbing the career ladder and the women on this show deserve much, much better and more than that, okay

Hello - we are getting SO close to passing canon. I am so excited.

Anyway, here is another chapter.

Summary:

Determined to make the most of his second chance at life, Buck tries to have the perfect date with Natalia. Meanwhile, Eddie is desperate to move on. Scenes and missing scenes 06x17: Love Is In the Air

Snippet:

“I feel like I might as well get it all out in the open,” Buck says, sighing, as they sit down at the table. “Uh, because, this all probably looks pretty bad.”

“No,” Natalia shakes her head. “It doesn’t look bad, Buck. We’re in our thirties. We’ve obviously both dated other people. Though books have not been written about me. Yet.”

He laughs a little. This is his chance to brush it off, then. 

Buck’s stupid ass mouth does no such thing. 

“Well you know my whole thing with my family,” Buck says.

Natalia blinks. “Uh, yeah.”

“Basically I left home pretty young, was on my own f-for a long time, kind of, uh, dated an unhealthy amount to deal with that. I moved around the country, I even moved to Peru. Ended up here, joined the LAFD, fell in love with a decently older woman, moved in with her way too soon after her mother died, and then she went to Europe, fell in love, and did not come back.”

“Whoa,” Natalia exhales.

“B-but since then, I’ve only had two serious relationships. Ali, who I really liked but who dumped me when a ladder truck crushed my leg, and Taylor, who… Well. Yeah. Is writing a book about our time together, I guess. There was a serial killer involved, kinda? Is he a serial killer? I don’t know if he fits the definition perfectly. Anyway.”

Natalia blinks. “Serial killer?”

“I’ve been single for like a year.” Buck finishes. 

He decides not to mention his longstanding, futile infatuation with Eddie. She doesn’t need to know about that. Nobody needs to know about that. 

“So, too much?”

Amor. Não só meu. Nosso. E que bom que é, ao fim de 12 anos, saber que és o amor que enche a minha vida, mas também da nossa filha. Amor, ainda te lembras como tudo começou?

Eu sim. Todos os anos faço este exercício de regresso ao passado. Tento contar, na minha cabeça, quantas memórias construímos juntos. Sinto que quando te escrevo, escrevo também para o fruto do nosso amor. Um dia, ela será capaz de ler cada carta e vai encher-nos de perguntas. Vamos falar de sítios que já não existem. De pessoas que já partiram. Vamos demorar uma eternidade a contar como aquele jantar se prolongou, como uma foto deu origem a um beijo. Vamos falar das sandes de presunto e ela não vai perceber porque 'a mamã nem gosta de presunto'. Vamos recordar o 06X17 e ela vai perguntar 'porque é que o papá tem uma máscara na cabeça?' Vamos rir dos vídeos das férias (especialmente o incidente de Veneza) e ela vai rir connosco e ficar sem perceber o que são os 'strongolis'. E, acima de tudo, vai ouvir-nos contar como ela trouxe mais amor ao nosso amor. Como ela fez valer a pena todas as lágrimas. Como ela nos fez ficar.

Sei que em 12 anos nem tudo foi perfeito. Mas há sempre amor. Amo-te todos os dias. Às vezes mais. Outras menos. Às vezes com fervor. Outras sem paciência. Às vezes distante, cansada. Às vezes carente. Mas é sempre amor. Continuamos a dormir lado a lado, em paz, certos deste amor. Se tiveres dúvidas, quero que saibas que se durmo tão bem (e rápido e sonoramente, dizes!) é porque nunca questionei, nestes 12 anos, ao adormecer, 'o que estou aqui a fazer?'. Porque eu sei; estou aqui porque é amor.

06x17//All These Things That I’ve Done - weekly recap

- female firefighter gear for the win, including Maya smiling at Andy + Ross reaffirming that she’s not quitting aaand the little Vic and Andy dance break

- Classic Travic content ftw as well, because these two save a lot of episodes with their bantering

- unpopular opinion: Theo was right when he said “I let you dedicate time for your classes and the expansion of Crisis One” and Vic was wrong when she replied “oh, you let me?”. I mean, they’re in the middle of a shift? And Vic just decides to leave? I am fairly certain staffing is Theo’s job, and he didn’t need to give Vic any time off for her classes and much less for a random meeting with Diane? That being said, I understand that Vic is tense in regard to Theo, but Theo was absolutely right about that one

- Carina’s friends are back, and that’s always a good time! Just like it was nice to see Marsha again for a second

- Sullivan wanting to be captain again. The nerve. THE NERVE. Anything else I could say about that would get me thrown into jail.

- Gosh, do I love the friendly bantering and bickering between Andy and Theo, I hope we get to see more of that in the future

- Theo was right about not sending anyone into the car wash until all power was cut off, and what Andy did was quite frankly reckless and could have cost one of their lives - they’re darn lucky the worst that happened was Maya going for a spin and that beam falling onto the guy’s shoulder. The only thing worse about this, is Sullivan trying to pit them against each other and thank goodness Andy called him out on that

- Kitty Dixon is a national treasure, I said what I said! She is a prime example of a villain done right

- Ross threatening Dixon has to be the funniest and best thing, I stg

- Sullivan saying “We owe people the common decency of not lying to their faces” - totally fine, nothing to see there

- Ross just fixing dude’s knee was metal af, I said what I said

- I feel sorry for Theo getting dragged through the dirt alongside Andy and Sullivan, simply because they thought it would be a fun idea to disobey orders. And I feel sorry for Ross, because she realizes there’s no way she can make a good choice after seeing them argue like that

- I cannot fucking believe that after all of this, Andy would so easily forgive Sullivan, As if he didn’t screw her over hours earlier, I mean what the hell?!

- Speaking of Sullivan: He admitted to knowing that lying was a major trigger for Andy, and he STILL went ahead and lied TO HER FACE about his relationship with Ross. I really cannot deal with this shit any more, I am tired of his bullshit

- Eli. Oh, Eli. Gotta hand it to him that his cracked voice and tears did things to my heart that I’d rather not admit. I’m here for this pairing, that’s all. I’m just a useless queer, okay?!

- Beckett and Vic - I feel like there’s too much to say about this arc within a recap, so maybe this requires a longer, separate post. Let’s just say that Vic was being a tad reckless, which is very much on brand for her character, going to Beckett without backup or a backup plan, but they understandably went for the drama with this. Ironically, the scene that broke me the most (apart from Vic in the car afterwards) was the one with them playing Basketball, simply because this brief moment of joy felt so incredibly heavy, knowing it wouldn’t last long. They did a freaking brilliant job with that, truly. And no, Vic is not okay and yes, Vic does need help, and I am hoping we will get there, eventually, because oh boy, well girl, does she need some help
