can you truly wait? it's difficult to fathom. in this relentless world, time rushes by like a time-lapse, where people cross paths but never intertwine again. that could be us, though i dare not hope.

the truth is, i'm a fool. despite my doubts, i cling to the futile hope that you'll still be there, you'll be with me, even after years. but in the depths of my soul, doubt gnaws at me.

i refuse to dwell on false hopes and empty promises; they only reopen old wounds like salt being poured onto them. the uncertainty of what lies ahead torments me. i could vanish in an instant, leaving nothing but memories.

you claim you'll love me, that you'll wait, but what if someone new catches your eye? i'd become a forgotten flower in your garden, swiftly replaced.

i dread being erased from your heart, replaced by another.

perhaps it's inevitable, a bitter pill to swallow. maybe we weren't meant to sustain each other through eternity, and perhaps that's alright.

but oh, how i yearn, despite the seeming folly, for you to honor your words

and prove that some things and someone are worth waiting for.
