reason #4 of why i love my forensics instructor:
regarding my patch pants i wore to lab—
“your pants are fucking awesome, i love them.”
Reason #5:
when i got blood stimulant EVERYWHERE for our blood spatter analysis lab.
“of course you’d be the one to make a mess. here’s some ethanol and chemi-wipes. might as well keep those with you.”

Despite being spoiled by mrs (im still reeling from tengoku tbh - the song is that powerful to me) he releases a new mv and he's dancing 😭😭😭
Speaking of dancing... What do you think is the likelihood of him performing Midnight in a concert? I really love his dancing and honestly, I think his midnight dance would fix me
i feel that, i also just sit down and watch tengoku mv and tv performances sometimes and then i'm just left staring into space afterwards... LOL
and gosh, idk i feel like at a mrs concert, it would be pretty unlikely for him to perform any of his solo songs 🤔 at the very least i don't think he's ever done it before (there was ofc 🐏 at noah no hakobune as an exception but i feel there was intention behind that esp with that concert series, even more so with all the babel no toh hype rn)
i have seen ppl point out on his updated solo website, there's a filter for "live" in the schedule page which could mean he might eventually perform his solo stuff at a concert at some point in the future!
but same i also love watching him dance n would love to see him perform the dance for midnight or even french and kaiga live......

Tumblr kind of sucks for asks like this but im looking for good resources on teaching HEMA fundamentals to absolute beginners. I’m taking over the fundamentals course for one of the schools I attend and would like to not be flailing wildly. YouTube, essays, whatever, is fine.

one thing i really like about picking up new hobbies is how they change the way you view the world
when i picked up pottery, i started noticing more acutely what in my house was ceramic vs not, what it was used for, and how cleanly it was constructed
when i was learning dance, i started breaking down other dances i saw into groups of steps, rather than just seeing the single fluid motions i had before
now that i'm learning to sew, i pay more attention to how everyone's clothes are constructed to see how i can apply that myself - where are the seams and are they visible or not, how has the fabric been cut to fit the shape of a human body
like, i love trying out new things just for the novelty of it, oftentimes, but this fun little side-effect of completely altering my perception of the world around me is also so so great

roommate and i took a pottery class last night and, as is usual for me, i proceeded to make it about Miraculous.
imagine with me, for a moment, an aged up Adrinette-never-met AU. adrien is a tired, overworked college student desperately using his few free hours to hang out with his friends nino and alya (he'll even put up with third-wheeling! anything to be a good friend!). one way they do this is by taking a pottery class.
'the instructor's a friend of mine,' says alya, 'and she can give us a discount!'
ignoring the fact that adrien most definitely does Not need a discount, he says yes.
the instructor (marinette, obviously) is the prettiest girl he's ever seen, and she's making it really hard to concentrate on the clay in front of him. and the other thing holding him back is that pottery is really fucking hard, apparently! alya and nino are more preoccupied with laughing and throwing clay at each other, but adrien is focused on making the best pot possible (mostly to impress the cute instructor!)
time's running out, though, and all he's left with are messy hands and a lump of clay that is decidedly Not pot-shaped. perfectionism rears its ugly head, and he's about two seconds from just giving up and calling it quits - after all, how did he think he'd be able to impress marinette as a complete and utter beginner?
fortunately for him, she has a soft spot for beginners.
'it's okay,' she says to him. 'here, let me help you.'
he is not expecting her to reach her arms around him from behind. she places her hands over his, and even through the layer of clay covering him, she is warm. her hair tickles the back of his neck, and she smells like sugar and vanilla. it's more than a little distracting.
he tries his best to listen to what she's saying about throwing and pressure and texture, hoping she can't see the way his cheeks are surely flaming a bright red.
he's too nervous, though; his foot presses down on the pottery wheel's foot pedal unconsciously. the wheel speeds up faster and faster until adrien's creation is splattered all over his face. he can't even bring himself to care, though, when he hears how pretty marinette's laugh is.
he might not have learned anything about pottery, but he still gains something: he leaves that night with her number plugged into his phone.

Cpr
In Romance novels I've noticed the Cpr trope a bunch of times (mc/lo perform Cpr on mc/lo and they kiss or indirectly kiss I guess) and its relatively harmless BUT sometimes they will have the character giving Cpr being a professional (think lifeguard or firefighter or whatever) and that's where it loses me.
Life breaths are no longer allowed (except if you're a lifeguard/coastguard but I'll get to that) because of potential diseases from saliva etc. Normally people have this weird tube
Tumblr media
Which they shove down the unconscious persons throat to open the airway (unconscious people don't have a gag reglex which is why they can) and then they attach it (or use on its own) this device
Tumblr media
Which they fill with air and squeeze the bag on the end to pump air into the persons body (you can't put too much air in the bag or the persons lungs will pop, extra tip if you need to do cpr on a baby you loosely fill your cheeks with air and puff with that cause if you don't you will pop the babies lungs and do chest compressions with two fingers)
The only time anyone would do life breaths depends on two conditions:
They don't have access to this other equipment
The person is directly related to them or are a child
I mentioned life guards were an exception. Life guards can do life breaths but they must be through the nose. Which was really weird pantomiming on the cpr doll.
Anyway, thanks for reading and please 🙏 if your character is a professional don't make then do life breaths.

10 Tips to Overcome Driving Anxiety in Melbourne's Traffic
10 Tips to Overcome Driving Anxiety in Melbourne's Traffic
Driving in Melbourne’s bustling streets can be overwhelming, especially for new or nervous drivers. From tram lanes to hook turns, Melbourne presents unique challenges that can heighten anxiety. But don’t worry—at DOS Driving School, we specialize in helping learners conquer their fears and gain confidence.
Here are 10 practical tips to help you overcome driving anxiety and navigate Melbourne’s roads like a pro.
1. Begin with Quiet Streets
Start your driving journey in calm, residential areas. Avoid high-traffic zones like the Melbourne CBD until you feel ready. This step-by-step exposure builds confidence in a low-pressure environment.
2. Choose a Patient and Experienced Driving Instructor
Driving with a skilled instructor who understands your concerns is essential. At DOS Driving School, our friendly and experienced instructors provide tailored lessons to help nervous drivers feel at ease.
3. Understand Melbourne’s Unique Traffic Rules
Navigating Melbourne requires mastering specific rules:
Hook Turns: These can feel intimidating, but they’re manageable with practice.
Tram Lanes: Learn when to stop for trams and how to share the road safely.
Roundabouts: Gain confidence in timing and right-of-way.
DOS instructors guide you through these intricacies step by step.
4. Practice Mindfulness Before Driving
Before starting the car, take a few moments to center yourself. Simple breathing exercises can help reduce anxiety and prepare your mind for driving.
5. Drive During Off-Peak Hours
Melbourne’s traffic is at its calmest mid-morning or mid-afternoon. These times are ideal for practicing without the added stress of rush-hour congestion.
6. Take Gradual Steps with Exposure
If city driving feels too daunting, break it into smaller goals:
Practice driving to a nearby café.
Gradually progress to busier intersections.
Build up to navigating Melbourne’s CBD.
7. Use Technology to Your Advantage
Apps like Google Maps or Waze can help you plan routes with minimal traffic and fewer challenges. Familiarity with your path can reduce surprises and anxiety.
8. Bring a Trusted Companion
Driving with a calm, supportive friend or family member can make your practice sessions more reassuring. They can provide encouragement and constructive feedback.
9. Set Small, Achievable Goals
Celebrate each milestone, no matter how small. Whether it’s merging onto a main road or completing a solo trip, every step forward builds confidence.
