I am currently watching the Dimension 20 Fantasy High series (because I'm apparently using summer break to reach my peak nerd form) and I am very invested but also it's so fucking funny because the plot is literally "6 freshmen get detention and miss a significant part of orientation. several dead, even more injured, everyone traumatized"

plus the characters are just:

a living football

a wizard with anxiety who is clearly convinced making people puke will solve all her problems

a barbarian who sings when he gets mad

a cleric going through a religious identity crisis

and I think that's really girl boss.

one connection that i just sort of put together that i haven't seen many people talk about is the very beginning of the season with the night yorb. like yes that was a fun bit to wrap up loose ends from sophomore year and that quest has been completed, but also what a cool way to introduce the concept of names having power. The whole central idea behind the dead god's name that can't be said or the spy's tongue curse was introduced episode one with the night yorb and the fact that they summoned it by speaking it's name and it got stronger each time the name was said. just a very cool narrative choice that i really like

I never got to know either of my grandfathers very well, but my parents telling me that I share one's love for history, or that I have the same tick when I'm riding passenger in a car, or have the same nose as one of them - it makes me feel a little closer. Our extended families are so far flung that it feels good to know there are common threads that connect us regardless of the distance.

the thing about emily axford as a player is that she rolls fine but whoo boy does she know how to play. theres a couple posts on here about murphs bad luck rolling vs emily "being able to roll a nat 20 on command," but that's just not true. emily rolls pretty middling, but she's very good at strategy, more often than not meaning that she is able to add buffs to rolls or have them work out even if she doesn't roll Great; we gotta give credit where credit is due, which is to emily's strategy and not to her rolls
