Silence. Which speaks more than whatever he could say. He’s at the door, listening to the lies that drip from this dog’s mouth. The grunt that alerted him to this scam cowers behind him. Whatever half trust he held for this man is now gone, the shards of it crunching under his feet.

”Charon.” His voice booms, and for a moment he remembers the father who did the same to him. He extracts a pokeball from his belt without breaking eye contact, the movement slow and the punishment on the edge of being dealt. Isn’t waiting more torture to witness than the act itself? Why should you receive mercy when you’ve bit and barked your way closer to his side? He presses a button.

A flash of light fills the room, condensing into a thick cylindrical thing that SCREAMS as it forms. Gyarados. It growls a breath and knows it’s target. Haven’t you noticed you are alone?

Oh you insignificant moon, what scares you more? MAN or MONSTER? Furthest from his light, what does it feel like to have the sun now before your eyes? Your petty tricks, your cowardly schemes... Don’t you know that even though you are at the edge, you still belong to him? What other star will save you now that you’ve committed yourself to his orbit?

The beast coils and its head lifts, towering above and blocking out light.

“No second chances...” Your leash is being pulled. “Go.”

Gyarados lunges, body jerking to the side and whipping forwards like the pendulum of the time you have left. Goodbye.
