Year 1637
TW/CW: Death Mention
With Vincente out of the home for so long, Tala was starting to get used to it just being her and Felicita. Felicita hardly knew who her father was but considering his actions Tala thought it for the best. Yet, Tala was beginning to lament that her daughter had no one her age to play with the way the other children had and with news that Guglielma had delivered a daughter, she longed for another child in her heart that she did her best to try and silence.
Giulia was gaining confidence in her new home by the time her anniversary came around and thankfully the nausea had subsided. Though there was no sign of children, she noted a sign in Talia's tome that it wasn't necessarily a problem just yet as it had only been a year into her marriage.
That said while Giulia's marriage was proving rather uneventful she was happy to send her congratulations to her cousin Felipe on his own the same month.
Sadly though, Giovanni's cousin and friend passed away at the end of April before the birth of his son that May. Giovanni who had been so jealous of Stefano for expecting a child felt his jealousy dry up at the thought of his death. He had been rushing things in his haste to have an heir just as his cousin did and look where that got Stefano. After thinking it through for a few days, he came to Giulia with the announcement that he was no longer in a rush to have an heir. Giulia felt for his loss and figured that was what prompted the change in her husband but while she felt guilty for her inner feelings since he was distraught, she was relieved at no longer excessively trying for a baby.
May also brought with it Felicita growing up into a lovely little child to the delight of her mother and sister.
Tala was glad to see it whenever Felicita played on her own because while she adored her daughter's affections, she could be rather clingy perhaps from effectively being an only child Tala thought.
Giulia's life mostly comprised of farm chores and tending house but she liked to write letters to her beloved family namely Isabella when she wasn't visiting Tala and her sister. By summer's end she was enjoying her married life whenever her husband wasn't present but that was often as he would leave to spend time with his friends more often than not or go hunting with them.
Vincente had been enjoying himself with Orion so much so that his casual flirting had progressed to full courting. He could have a new life here but at the very least he needed to return to Tartosa to settle his affairs there before moving on with his newfound lover.
Vincente returned home and was greeted by Felicita. He was shocked by just how much she had changed since he last saw her. He missed so much of her life that the girl had no recognition of him and shied away from his attempts to connect with her. His baby didn't know him and while he was okay with that when he was away from home, being there it broke his heart.
Tala pretended she didn't see Vincente when he came home to get things but she couldn't help but feel a touch of pain as she saw him flinch at the realization that his own daughter couldn't recognize him. At night she went to confront him where he admitted that he was leaving most of his things to Tala and Felicita, well more specifically their children, and he was going to take enough to settle San Sequoia permanently. Tala felt she was going to regret sullying herself with Vincente but the two spent the rest of Vincente's time together before he was set to go. Meanwhile, during his time Vincente only appeared around his daughter as she slept.
The day Vincente left it was like the switch had flipped back to disgust and hatred towards him for Tala. He was abandoning his family, she might not want to actually see him again but he was leaving his child. But Tala's scheming had worked as she noted not long after he left, the holiday season was giving her the gift of motherhood once more.

1637
