First cervical smear

I've had plenty of swabs and people looking at my downstairs area(what am I supposed to call it??) So I thought I'd be prepared for my first cervical smear. Hahaha ha no, it hurt like shit, it was super uncomfortable and now my stomach is killing me.

During the process my ovaries were killing me and I was getting really bad period pain, it felt like the nurse was physically stabbing my uterus while she was doing it.

The nurse was lovely and very calm and patient with me. I told her about having endo and being nervous and she told me that she also suffered with endo and knew what it felt like having a smear. She spoke to me calmly the whole way though and was checking I wasn't in any pain.

My stomach is still sore and I can still feel the pressure on my ovaries, but I feel quite relieved to have finally had it done. Now I just need to await my results, fingers crossed.

So anyway, Higurashi Gou episode 24! I will say, I was not fully endeared to this as a finale. A lot of the content is stuff to do with Takano that I just can’t understand because I’m too lacking in context, and so it did feel quite slow. However much of the rest of the episode is just spent making Satoko be based as fuck and finally getting into just what exactly she did to force the rest of the show up to this point to happen, and I loved that - something about how much time we spent to contextualise that epic gun cliffhanger is just really damn endearing to me, and I can't wait to see where Sotsu takes it. Certainly a final episode that could have been better and endeared me just a tad bit more to the show, but I’d still say I enjoyed it a lot and it caps off Gou really well.

Now we get to wait until Summer for Sotsu poggers. Cool. 8/10 for Gou - took a while to get to the point where I’m like “oh this is why Higurashi is beloved” but before that point it was still an enjoyable horror/slice of life ride and after that point it was just fucking extremely consistently engaging and exciting thriller and drama with a great supernatural element at play as well. Could’ve been a bit more newcomer friendly than it turned out to be - obviously an issue because they did claim that it was accessible for newcomers, but that basically never actually hindered my enjoyment. Fuckin great ride. I imagine I will watch all of the old anime prior to Sotsu’s airing - we’ll see.

So in episode 13 of Cells at Work Black, there's a heart attack that nearly kills literally everyone, they're brought back with a defib, and that serves as an awakening call for the body such that the work environment quickly becomes like the one in mainline Cells, and so we get to talk about how happy we are to work in an environment that's not shit. Then a fuckin tube enters the body, sucks everyone up, and drops them into a new, even worse body - the ending is a blood transfusion to turn the setting into what it started as. And I have no idea how to feel about that. Kinda scuffed, I guess? Idk. Episode was okay to watch though, probably the weakest one which sucks for a finale, but it was still decent. Good time all around, full thoughts coming in my season in review at some point.

18.3.21 1:1 with Richard

I had presented my little deconstruction sculpture and my cardboard construction to Richard. He liked my terracotta sculpture which I was happy about! I told him about my concern with giving it height and he suggested just stacking pots of various sizes, or maybe even pots that weren't terracotta. So I did that quickly in the studio with the pots I had on me.

As for the cardboard sculpture, he said that it was too simple and I agree with that. He mentioned how it doesn't really involve the things mentioned in the brief like form, tension, weight, etc. It felt quite simple making it so I wasn't fussed about letting it go.

He picked up the tulle sculpture I had discarded against the wall and mentioned making it stand again. I had pieces of wood with me so he demonstrated ways to create height and balance with the wood and the metal thingy I had. He said that I may not need the tulle in the end, but I like the possibilities of using the tulle in the sculpture so I decided to keep it. I booked a slot with Oleg for Friday to build something.
