This week in 1983, Quiet Riot learned that METAL HEALTH had officially hit #1 on the US album charts. It was the first heavy metal album in history to achieve that level of success, and it is widely thought to be responsible for bringing the L.A. music scene into the national spotlight.
Today we mark the 40th anniversary of the UK release of Pink Floyd's The Final Cut, which spent 25 weeks on the charts, reaching number one. Here's a US advert for the album. 🎧
NEW VIDEO: New British Canon again, this time about Eurythmics, their eternal single "Sweet Dreams" and how for a brief moment, thanks to MTV, Britain took over the US charts for a second time. Turns out 1983 was pretty awesome for pop music.
