Ralph Bakshi is maybe most famous for his X-Rated Crumb collab Fritz the Cat, or Lord of the Rings. My favorite is maybe American Pop, a visually sumptuous musical, and a more personal film for Bakshi. I love his use of rotoscoping here, and in his LOTR film, which bring a heightened, more human feeling to a character’s movement than traditional animation.
