Dominican Republic, America`s trash, Heatwave

Seems like Humans just never want to learn. The Dominican Republic is being flooded by the mainly plastic garbage of the so-called first world (USA,USA,USA, TIME TO RECYLE) Northern Europe experiencing heat waves they have never seen before, wildfires, draught, all kinds of poverty, discrimination and idiotic political, financial decisions has brought us to this. Selfishness, jealousy and greed are amongst the main causes of these rapid changes in our worlds. The poles seem to be shifting and we are running out of 3rd world country people to blame. We can only blame ourselves. Its going to be 36 Celsius degrees today. Who you`re going to blame today?

Dude I've started to notice recently that some people kind of enjoy having waiters in a way I find super weird. Like there are social and logistic circumstances where sitdown restaurants make more sense than takeout or pizzajoint/deli style sitdown, and from a non-firstworld or really-really-poor-in-1stworld perspective my relationship to it would probably be alienated by what I take for granted about it--- but in general waiters dont add value, it's just a fucking emperors new clothes social arrangement no one really questions, that maybe is net positive for getting people some paychecks and probably isnt meaningfully harmful besides my minor annoyance at it, but has nothing to do with food or nutrients or even pursuit of hedonium/novel tastes or experiences.

Unless your kink is being served. And I have anti-posh prejudice that, um, is equivalent to kinkshaming

Ah, beee u ti full Montreaux! Many memories for Mister Farri of playing the Montreaux pop festival in 86. Lovely to now listen to his amazing stories that I just didn’t appreciate when he told them over the phone 29 years ago!(whilst I was at home dealing with babies!!! not bitter any more!)

Off the scale for natural beauty and add to that the superb Swiss sense of style and 1stworld sensibility, our 2 nights are excessively comfortable and indulgent. Many hours walking the waterfront, blissing out on the water and mountain views.

Twinge of guilt mixed in with happiness & gratitude that I am here and enjoying this. One of those places where you find yourself checking out the Real Estate windows and dreaming.

One of the most controversial topics within fashion – faux fur or real fur. We’ve all seen the protestors outside Canada Goose or Selfridges in one city or another, relishing as they observe customers divert in the opposite direction, frantically not wanting themselves regarded as a real fur enthusiast.

We’ve all heard the news on Gucci, Versace and Michael Kors officially switching from real to faux, with many brands following, averting their brands from being plastered as an animal killer but instead a faux fur advocate.

What we haven’t all seen or heard however; the truth behind faux and fur and why both are appalling excuses of a winter fashion statement.

The faux fur we know currently is highly affordable (great for brands so they can charge the extravagance prices and yet use inexpensive materials and seem ethically intact), luxe feel fabric which is almost identical to the real deal, but that’s the issue. Faux fur is also damaging our planet, animals and habitats with its production process and is unfortunately unsustainable. The synthetic faux fibers are spun from a mix of acrylic a

nd polyester – types of plastics. It is not certain how long or even if plastics will be biodegradable, but scientists suggest it will take between 500-1000 years for plastics to biodegrade and that’s with an if. Genuine fur however, biodegrades as a natural process and has no environmental impact.

A matter which is concealed within the faux fur production process is the extortionate impact it’s having on the manufactures. A not so fun fact: most of the workers and manufactures inhale the microfibers daily causing serious, chronic lung and health problems, just for us 1stworld countries to look bourgeois in our winter wear.

Canadian Coyote Canada goose’s fur is sourced and captured in Canada from wild coyote’s (a bit like a fox for you and me), which have progressed into a major predator for several animals and have vastly spread from their original territories after the decline in wolves. The Canadian government has recently reintroduced a scheme of paying hunter’s $25 to exterminate coyotes.

The entire notion of murdering animals for the sake of looking fierce over the winter season is beyond preposterous, conversely in the situation of the lesser of two evils, surely, it’s best for them to be slaughtered and used for their fur than just straight up slaughtered for $25?

Then it’s a doomed game of would you rather: 100’s of people left with chronic illnesses and a massive environmental impact just for faux or an animal slaughtered with no environmental impact?

I contemplate I would have to prefer real (I hate that I’ve even just written this statement) nonetheless one thing I will state – why don’t we just leave the fur out altogether; all furs are officially so last season.
