gus and jon have been dating since november 3rd 2020, and till death do they part (in 2041)
gus and jon have a daughter together named Elora (El). she's gus's biological daughter with his ex, jon is a stepdad
the band's manager is Patrick Wllanfairgogerych, very intelligent and stern but also very very loving and caring, definitely takes care of the band <3
the band got together in new orleans (in 2018)! jon is actually the only member not from louisiana, but he met the band there because he lived there for a few years. all 5 of them are very attached to it
gus and jon now live in albany new york, but the rest of the band is still in louisiana
the band is under a (fictional) label called Cat People Records, along with a bunch of other fictional bands. they're very dedicated to the label and it's a fairly tight-knit community, like decaydance in a way
jon joined the band after the first album! the original guitarist was Ritchie Marrell, but there were too many fights and he was fired. jon quickly replaced him and co-wrote Imperfection, saving the band and gus's life, and skyrocketing DLL directly into fame.
DLL's main friend bands are XO Ziggy, Synonym For Shitty, Pez & Needles, and recently Waterparks and Lipstixx

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chapter 1: Prologue
Abby sat in the boat as they reached a fishing boat dock about 2 miles east of Santa Barbara as she pushed Lev awake. “C'mon we gotta move, let’s see if we can find some shelter or food” she says as Lev groans before climbing up and shuffling out of the boat as the two climb onto an old sail boat and scavenge for supplies. “You think she’ll be back? After everything she’s done?” Lev asks as he shuts the cabin door and starts looking in the cabinets. Abby stops for a minute before shaking her head “No, she spared us after our fight back in Santa Barbara, she’s likely headed back to Jackson” she says as she grabs a fishing rod out of a broom closet, “Hope you like fish Lev” she says Lev turns around a laughs as Abby puts on a bucket hat and struts out to the upper deck of the ship.
Meanwhile, back in Jackson, Ellie sits alone in a saloon. Waiting for Tommy to get done with Maria so they can leave and head towards New York, or at least somewhere other than Jackson for a while. Surprisingly enough, Seth of all people sits down next to her, “Heard that you and Tommy were headed out, figured I’d make you guys something to eat for the ride” he says as he hands Ellie a pair of wrapped sandwiches. Ellie sighs at the old man “Thanks Seth, I’m sure Tommy’s gonna miss this place” she says as she takes the sandwiches and heads out to leave Jackson before seeing Dina in the distance. She thinks about going over to talk to her, to try and make amends, but remembers what she did before Santa Barbara… and heads to the gates.
Back on the boat, which Abby has named The Tipsy Zebra, Abby sits out and watches the horizon, almost seeing a dolphin hop out of the cool night waters. “See anything?” Lev says as he hands Abby a fish wrap as sits next to her. “Only water and a few dolphins, otherwise, nada” she says as she takes the wrap “Wait where’d you get a tortilla from Lev?” she says as she turns to Lev, who's already gorging on the wrap like a feral beast “In an old freezer, thank god for seal tight refrigerators” he says as he gulps down the wrap and sighs “So where to know Captain?” he says with a smirk, which gets a chuckle outta Abby who looks out to the horizon “Lets see if we can get to Catalina Island, if not, South America is always an option” she says as Lev looks in confusion. “South….America?” he asks as Abby looks up and laughs to herself “A continent South of the United States; with huge jungles, deserts, rivers, mountains, and valleys” she says as she imagines the Amazon Rainforest and the mountains of Peru, which she mostly recalled from either stories from Owen and her dad, or old tourist kiosks from the Old World.
Lev looks up at the horizon “Well either way, we're still gonna kick ass until the end, right?” he asks as Abby as the two notice a whale tail pop out from the calm sea waters,
“Right” Abby says as the whale tail collapses into the sea.
Chapter 2: Three Finger Badass
Ellie sat and looked out the window of Tommy’s truck, staring at the valleys and forests of the midwest. She remembered Joel teaching her how to shoot a rifle and when she got her first pistol, it seemed almost like a lifetime ago…
“Hey! Ellie!” Tommy hollered, causing Ellie to jump in surprise “Oh, shit sorry Tommy, just spaced out for a sec” she said as Tommy let out a sigh. “Man, some things never change with you huh kid” he says as he looks back onto the road as they turn into an interstate highway near the border of Wyoming and Colorado. “As I was saying, the plan is simple, we're gonna head south through Colorado, then east through Kansas and Missouri, and finally Northeast until we reach New York! It’s foolproof!!!” he says excitedly.
Ellie just gives him a smile before looking back at the window. Tommy gives her a look of pity and sympathy, “Listen kid, if you don’t wanna come with I can turn back to Jackson…” he says as he slows down. Ellie looks up and gives it some thought, sure she’d probably need a while to regain Maria’s trust and even longer for Dina’s respect, but it was better than hiding away like a coward. “You think you’ll be okay on your own Tommy? You know, the eye and your leg-” she says before Tommy cuts her off with a laugh “Kid I’ve seen people in QZ’s way worse than my sorry ass do just as good if not better than I will, I’ll be fine. Promise” he says as Ellie gives him a hug, “Alright, but if you ever find yourself in Jackson try to visit, I want JJ to meet his Great Uncle once in a while” Ellie says, which gets a laugh out of Tommy as he turns the truck around back to Jackson.
Back on The Tipsy Zebra, Abby and Lev notice an old shipyard out in the distance and dock the boat nearby. They dock the boat and look around, “Doesn’t look like there's anyone here Abby…” Lev says as he checks over his shoulder. “Yeah, well I don’t want a repeat of what happened with those Rattler fuckers back in Santa Barbara so keep an eye out” Abby says as she walks up to an old and abandoned cruise ship. “Woah. Now THAT'S a boat” Lev says as he looks up at the massive vessel. “Hmmm, got your mask?” Abby asks as she digs in her bag to find one from the boat “Yeah, smart thinking by the way” Lev says as he and Abby put on their masks and head inside.
The inside of the ship was oddly empty… No infected and little to no supplies. “Well guess no one’s home” Lev says as he leans against the railing and looks to the pier below. “I don’t like it, no infected AND no survivors, it’s… unreal.” Abby says as she looks around. “Let's head up to the upper decks, maybe there might be a communications room or something we can use to recontact the Fireflies on Catalina Island” Abby says as she points to the staircase nearby.
Chapter 3:  The Crewless Captain of the HMS Mileena
Abby and Lev stare in awe as they reach the top deck of the ship. The pool, although empty, was converged into a massive horde-like stash of various valuables: Rings, jewels, necklaces, and even gemstones of a wide variety. Massive piles of suitcases also riddle the Horde Pool, as well as old pool equipment and military grade shipping crates. Lev wonders around the pool, awestruck by the treasures of The Old World “What is this stuff” he says as he reaches out to grab a necklace, which was hanging from a pool net like a bra in a hotel room before a crossbow bolt flies through the air, almost hitting the former Seraphite in the hand. “Hey! Who the hell are you?! And how the hell did you get on the Mileena?” A strange man asks. Abby and Lev look up at the man, who was an odd sort to say the least.
He was slim, dressed in a pair of sweatpants and a black turtleneck with a red sweatshirt around his waist, which housed not one, not two, but four different handguns, and he had some kind of wooden mask which covered his face. “Sorry to intrude, we came up to the dock on an old sailboat. My name is Abby and this is Lev” Abby says as she holds up her hands to signal that they’re friendly. The man gave them a look, or at least the expression of a look, as he lowered his crossbow “You came from Santa Barbara didn’t you?” he asks, his voice muffled by the wooden mask. “Yeah, we were captured by a group of slave owners named the Rattlers, we managed to escape and need safe passage to Catalina Island” Lev says as he backs off from the pool of trash.
“Well, I guess I can’t just let you fuck off into the unknown and all, how’s about you two stay a while. Get some R&R and all that happy shit” he asks as he sets the crossbow down and hops to the duo. Lev opens his mouth to accept the offer before Abby stops him “How do we know we can trust you? For all we know you could be a Rattler, a cannibal, or god knows what other kind of fucked up weirdo” Abby says as the man walks over and grabs a bottle of rum from the horde pool “First off: I hate those Rattler fucks, Secondly: I have a bunch of sheep in the back near the tennis court, and Lastly: If I wanted to kill you, I wouldv’e done it already” he says as he outstretches his hand “Call me Deacon” he says as he takes a swig of rum and walks to the cabins.
“Unfortunately this ship is beached so if we're gonna leave here we're probably taking that boat you guys came in on. But I can lend you whatever supplies you may need” Deacon says as he opens up a pair of dual doors to a massive dining hall which was converted into some kind of crude hotel suite “Welcome to-a my humble abode” he says dramatically as Abby and Lev look around. “Nice digs, how long have you been here anyways?” Abby asks as she sits down on an old sofa as Thatch walks to an old bar “About 3 years, this place used to be an old oil drill site before the outbreak, but when that happened they forced anyone on a boat to head to places like this” Deacon says as he pours himself a glass of rum, diluting it with a bottle of grenadine and an old cola “I came here the same way you did, but after finding this place I figured I’d stay a while, aint gonna get much fancier than this” he says with a chuckle as he plops down onto a couch.

Skating Lessons Part 20
Summary: First game back at NWA, Thanksgiving
Warning: swearing, smut
Word Count: 2450
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
You hear Josh talking with the car dealer but you are completely zoned out.  You sign on the dotted line, told the car will be delivered this week but wasn’t on the property.  Your mind was giving a mental list of all the things you needed to do since you announced to your parents that you were hosting Thanksgiving.  You and Josh decided with games on either side of the day you would just combine everyone to one big dinner. One. big. dinner.  With your parents, his parents, Seth, Boone and their moms, and anyone else who needed a place to land.
“(y/n), you okay?”  Josh finally brings you out of daze.  “Babe?”  He holds your face in his hands outside of his car.  His hands surprisingly warm given he doesn’t have a coat on and it is November in Ohio.  “Talk to me.  What’s up?”  He is staring right into your eyes not letting you gaze away.  His thumbs rubbing up and down your cheeks.
“I’m fine.  Really Josh.  Thank you.”  You place your gloved hands on his and try unsuccessfully to move him.
“Nope.  Not buying it.  And stop thanking me for the car.  Is it Thanksgiving?  Something else?” His voice and eyes are teetering on worried.
“J, really, just making a list of all the things for Thanksgiving.  Also, just kind of thinking of us and all.”  He releases you and opens your door.  For once he let’s you hop in to the seat while he takes your scooter and quickly makes his way to the driver seat.  Starting the car Josh blows into his hands.  “I know the whole, ‘I’m tough Canadian hockey player who doesn’t need a coat’ is like a thing but I know you own several!”  Josh laughs at your chirp.  “And surprisingly your hands are warm.”
“Can we talk about the whole thinking of us and all comment you just made?”  Josh starts driving and turns down the radio.  You inhale sharply.
“You seem too perfect.”  You breathe out.
“I’m sorry, you know that’s not true.”  He tightly grabs the steering wheel and glides his right hand down your arm and interlaces his fingers in yours.
“Yes you are.  You are too good to me and don’t get me started on Mason.  Now we are getting into the holiday season and I know your schedule ramps up.” You take a deep breath.
“You are right, but how do you know my schedule ramps up?  There is All-Star break by the way.” Josh dances his fingers in yours.
“Ok, so my dad told me that your schedule gets intense after the new year.”
Josh laughs, “Of course he did.  He’s not wrong but it won’t change anything just a little more ice time.  And I mentioned summer the other day?  And moving in together...and you have work and Mace and...” He trails off mid-thought.
“Josh?”  You lean to look at his face which is focused on the road.
“Yeah.” He voice stays steady but you see him flinch.
“Josh, now it’s your turn to talk.  What are you thinking?”  You nudge at his arm.
“Nothing.” His voice and the white in his knuckles didn’t match what he said.  “So what are we having for your American Thanksgiving?”
You choose not to press it for now. “American Thanksgiving?” You questioned.
“Yes, A-mer-i-can.” Josh smirks and over pronounces the word.
“Um? Isn’t Canadian Thanksgiving the same day?” You question feeling like an idiot not knowing.
“Nope.” He popped the p and continued.  “It was a few weeks ago.  Remember when we went out to dinner and my mom Facetimed with my whole family?  Mason was the star of the show, of course.”  He laughed at the memory.
“That was your thanksgiving? Why didn’t you say anything?  Like we could have done a traditional dinner or whatever.  Invited over your Canadian teammates...” Josh kisses your hand and stops your over analysis that you were so wrapped up in life here that you don’t consider that your boyfriend is not American.
“I’m looking forward to celebrating all these holidays with you and Mason for the first time.  I’m sorry I didn’t mention my thanksgiving.  It’s not that big of a deal. I haven’t exactly been home for it since I was a kid.”  He eyes you and then darts back to the road.  “Thanksgiving with the team for American thanksgiving has kind of been my thing.  They’ve been my only family until....”
“You met us.”  You finish his sentence and you see a small smile return to his face.  You never thought about the fact that Josh had been away from home since he was pretty young and not use to having someone there for him that wasn’t attached to the team. “I’m glad you found us.” You whisper leaving the rest of the unfinished conversations for later as you pulled into your driveway.
- - -
The boys got a suite for the game and you realized when you went straight up the elevator the reason was for you. No stairs to navigate even though you had gotten better at maneuvering with the damn boot. Amy beat Michelle to embrace you and fussed over your leg. You thanked her for the flowers and silly memes she sent after your accident. You got hugs from everyone else and introduced your parents. Mason enjoyed the freedom of the suite. He could run from the seats to the bar area and back. You aren’t sure how but when he yelled for Josh during warm ups he looked up pulled off his glove to count down from 3 and they did their signature move.
“I still think that’s the cutest thing ever.” Michelle leans into your ear from her seat behind you.
“Agreed” You beamed as Mason made his way to your mom’s lap to wait for the game.
“You seem more comfortable.” Amy plopped herself down in Mason’s seat while he was getting more popcorn from the bar with Michelle and your mom.
“Do I?” Your eyebrow raises at her observation.
“Yup. I mean you were just on the jumbotron and tv for a good 2 minutes and didn’t flinch.” She laughed pointing to the television in the corner of the suite and with that realization you could feel the blush starting to form. “You looked gorgeous don’t worry.” She patted your leg. You saw Josh on the screen with his adorable puppy look he gives you sometimes but didn’t think about the fact that you may have been what he was looking at while he stood talking to Seth in the corner. “But seriously, you seem to be relaxed, in love, comfort.”
“I am.” You felt the smile reach your eyes and Amy gave you a side hug.
During the game, Mason bounced even more. Eventually landing on Michelle’s lap by the 3rd period. You didn’t realize he was there until his little voice started yelling, “Shoot it Andy!” Your typical chirp during games that Mason picked up. And sure enough Josh had the puck flying down his lane. You pushed yourself forward, holding your breath. You knew Josh wanted to score in front of his parents and your first game back. He shoots and hits the bar. He quickly got the rebound and rounds the back of the net.
“Come on Babe!” You yell as you hold the wall in front of him. And sure enough he shoots again. This time it goes in! Everyone in the entire arena erupts in excitement. Josh does his signature slide celly but turns and points his stick right at you.
The game wore you out. By the time you got down to the family room you fell asleep on the couch. You didn’t even realize your parents took Mason home until you are half way home and woke up. “Babe, you can keep sleeping. I’ll carry you in.” Josh’s voice was soft.
“I’m fine. Just out of routine with game nights I guess.” You shifted in your seat and clanged your boot on the side of his console. “And I cannot wait to get the thing off me!”
“I fully agree with that statement but will miss helping your bathe.” Josh chuckles.
“I didn’t say you had to take your own showers again.” You felt your second wind coming.
“Oh really?” Josh’s voice changed.
“Speaking of showers, I could use one.” You state as Josh pulls into the drive.
“I can arrange that.” Josh makes quick work to get you in the house and to your bedroom.
“Josh?” You questioned as Josh retreated to your room again leaving you leaning against the sink...naked.
“I bought a seat for you for when I’m gone.” He brings the bath seat and you eye it and them him.
“That thing looks heavy duty. Afraid I might break it?” You see the mischievous look creep across his face.
“Well I made sure it could hold both of us.” He smirks at you and you laugh uncontrollably.
Trying to be as sexy as possible, “so are we trying that out now?”
“Hell yeah.” Josh kisses you and places the seat in your shower and turns the water on while he undress the rest of the way. “Come here.” He pulls you into him and your breath hitches. Josh’s lips are intentional when they crash into your lips. His hands carefully placed to so you are affixed to him. He picks you up slightly and backs into your shower. “Fuck you were so sexy on the big screen tonight. You had no idea either, did my baby?” Josh sits down and takes you all in.
“No. Amy told me but I saw you and your puppy look you give me.” You rub your hand down his face gliding your thumb down his lips already dripping with water.
“Yeah, I got shit for that in the room but I don’t care.” Josh carefully pulls your now wet body down so your legs are on either side of his. He parts his legs and slides his hand into your folds.
“And you scored babe.” You run your hands through his wet hair and kiss down his neck stopping to suck where you know it makes him weak.
“For you. You give me an indescribable energy just being at the game.” Josh presses two fingers into you and you immediately moan out his name dropping your head into the water stream. “Fuck, I’m lucky as hell.”  Josh shifts and you feel his length on your stomach.  Gliding you hand from his tip to the base Josh’s teeth sink into your shoulder when you grip just a little tighter.
Josh moves his hand and lifts you up to help glide you onto his cock.  It doesn’t take either of you long to reach your climax.  Between the water and sweet words you kept exchanging you know Josh is close when you feel his legs tighten and his hand’s grabbed firmly on your hips which is all you needed to release.  Josh kisses your sweetly, “Did you need your hair washed?”  He runs his hands up your side to twirl a stand of hair onto his finger.
“Actually, yes.  Seeing my mom tomorrow again, I should.”  With that Josh reached over and washed your hair quickly while staying exactly where he was.  “I’m not sure you’ve ever washed my hair while still...connected.” You cough laughed making Josh’s whole body shake.
“It’s intimate.” Josh smirks and pulls you off his lap and you turn to shut off the water.  Josh grabs a towel and helps you dry off and climb into bed.
“Can you set your alarm too?”  You asked with your list of things you need to do for tomorrow.   “Yup.  What time are we getting up to make all the things?” Josh almost whispers.
“You are helping me?”  You sit up on your elbows.
“Yeeeessss...I can make some things.  I’m good at listening to directions.” Josh pulls you into his chest.
“Fine fine.  I guess you can make some things.  Set the table.  Do things.” You giggled and Josh taps your ass in a playful way.  “Unless you want me to watch the parade and football then ask when dinner is ready?”  He laughs.
- - -
Josh was the perfect sou chef.  You moved in sync and everything was ready or cooking once your parents and Mason got there.  Your dad, Josh, and Mason finished watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade while your mom joined you in the kitchen.
“You two really did all this?” She eyes the kitchen and then her eyes drift to where Josh has his arm around Mace both with the same look watching one of the giant balloons almost hit a building.
“Yes. Do you think I’ve missed something?” Your mom has always hosted Thanksgiving and she gave you the reigns this year was a big deal.
“Looks like it plus what the others are bringing.  You and Josh make a really good team.” She kisses your forehead.
“We really do.” Your gaze shifts from your mom to the living room.  Mason was dancing around to a song and Josh had out his phone to record him.  He really was your teammate in more ways than you’ve admitted to.
“Knock Knock!” You hear Amy at your door and she leads Seth, Boone, Boone’s mom, Terri in to your home.  She gushes about how much she loves it and wants a tour.  You wheel through the house and she laughs when noticing the amount of Seth Jones posters in Mason’s room.  “Seriously, I’m sad Seth didn’t see you first.”  She laughs and you hear Josh’s throat clear.
“Hey! I’d fight him for her.  And you know i’d win!” Josh kisses the top of your head and wraps his arm around you.  “All of our guests have arrived and Santa is about to come down the parade route.”  Josh knew it was Mason’s favorite part but also yours since you could remember.  You made your way back to your living room and watched as Santa made his way down.  The magic of Christmas had been amazing the last few years but this year you could tell that Mason was going to be fully into the magic of the season.  You see Josh out of the corner of your eye taking a picture of the two of you watching.  You look over to see him typing away.
“What are you posting?”  Josh leans over and holds up his post.  You see a picture of you and Mason with your family and friends mingling in the background.
The caption read:  Thankful for these two and the support system we have.
Happy American Thanksgiving all!

Book recs masterpost
y’all really came through here, thanks! Here’s a collected version, I will continue to update it if recs keep coming. Format will be a little inconsistent but I will try to keep books by the same author together and give the summary if it exists and who provided the rec.
Under a cut cause it gets long:
Gene Wolfe:
The Fifth Head of Cerberus
Three interconnected novellas about life on an authoritarian twin planet system where humans have apparently wiped out the natives. Superbly well written and thoughtful imo
rec by @femmenietzsche
Book of the New Sun
rec by @napoleonchingon
Octavia Butler:
Dawn, rec by @empresszo, @typicalacademic
Parable of the Sower, rec by @st-just
Kindred, rec by @squareallworthy
Angelica Gorodischer:
Kalpa Imperial
epic fantasy in the style of conan the barbarian, we see the stories of an old empire in some nondescript country, a nondescript amount of millenia ago. small vignettes of different time periods within the country. very light in fantasy, basically an entire book of nothing but lore for a D&D campaign
Trafalgar
comedy sci fi. the life stories of a sales man, a guy who goes door to door selling whatever he can, except IN SPACE. all the stories are framed as him in his little bar in rosario with his friends or drinking mate, telling his latests adventures through space.
La saga de los confines by  Liliana Bodoc
lord of the rings except instead of taking inspiration from nordic folk tales is based on the american conquest. see fantasy races and cultures based on the native american population from south america. lots of poetry, lots of cool classic fantasy with a fresh new flavor
(Already read)
la batalla del calentamiento by marcelo figueras
the fantasy here is very understated to the point of it being magical realism but still my top three favourite book of all time. it starts with a man who suffers gigantism receiving a message from heaven delivered by a wolf speaking in latin. the most colorful and endearing little town with the most wacky of habitants open their arms to the guy who is desperatly in search of redemption
homestuck (by Andrew Hussie)
there is really nothing i can say about this that you havent already heard, so im not even going to bother. just give the first arc (which is about a hundred pages long) a change and see where it goes from there
All of the above suggestions by @fipindustries

Neal Stephenson, Cryptonomicon & D.O.D.O.
Ted Chiang, Story of Your Life and anything else by him
To Say Nothing of the Dog by Connie Willis (also suggesting this review)
C.J. Cherryh – The Faded Sun Trilogy.
Honestly not sure there’s anything groundbreaking or unique about it but a solid scifi tale with aliens and politics and it really fleshed out and made me empathize with all the opposing and strikingly different factions.
Taiyao Fujii – Orbital Cloud
A space-related technothriller, quite fun! If you liked the first 2/3rds of Seveneves you’ll probably like this.
Gwynneth Jones – Life.
Story of a woman trying to be the best biologist she can despite a lot of setbacks, bascially. Barely counts as science fiction, really, but I just really like Anna and Spence as characters and their relationship. This a very feminist book, at times quite preachy–but personally it came across as characters being preachy not the author, and therefore much less annoying, but ymmv.
Katherine Addison – The Goblin Emperor.
Fantasy high politics but nice? Like also pretty level headed but not grimdark like fantasy high politics usually is. Also love the worldbuilding, the linguistics, and my precious cinnamon role Maia who deserves good things.
The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet
River of Teeth by Sarah Gailey
the most tumblr print book I have ever read. TBH the cover blurb is better than the book but it’s a quick read and enjoyable.
Paolo Bacigalupi - The Windup Girl.
Ian MacDonald – The Dervish House.
The twenty-minutes-into-the-future setting has aged weirdly since it was written back when Turkey was trying to join the EU, but I reread it recently and the plot and characters are still compelling.

Love and Gang Warfare 2: Unbreakable
Co-written with @thirst-n-bullshit
"Daddy…...wake up!" Seth groaned as he was jumped on by two little girls. "Mommy and Papa said it's time for breakfast!" Fiona chirped brightly "I'm awake, I swear." Seth replied as he sat up and faced his daughters. "Good Morning, Princess Fiona, Good Morning Princess Raven" he said kissing the foreheads of his 5 year old, soon to be 6 year old twins.
"Good morning Daddy," Raven said much quieter then her sister. "Morning, Daddy" Fiona echoed "Mommy said that if you wanna eat Papa's special choco-pancakes you gotta get up" "Oh I do?" Seth said. "Well I guess I'll race you!" Fiona giggled and took off, her sister following. Seth got up and stretched, feeling a knot in his back. 'Gotta have Vi check that out'
Seth darted down the hallway and picked up the girls
"Gotcha!"
"Daddy, that's not fair!" Fiona yelled "You can't just pick us up!"
Walking into the kitchen carrying Fiona and Raven under his arms like footballs "I caught two princesses, what should I do with them?" He says causing the girls to giggle.
"You could feed them to the Wolf." Finn says pointing to Baron who was sitting at the kitchen table eating pancakes.
"Nooooo, don't feed us to Uncle Wolfy!" Raven giggled. "Uncle Wolfy's full, feed them to Auntie Wolfy" Baron pointed to his wife, who promptly began chasing the girls once Seth set them down to kiss Finn. "Morning Mon Roi" he said. "Morning, Kitten" he replied steadily flipping pancakes
"How'd you get roped into making these? That's normally a weekend thing." Seth asked
"Our daughters have inherited your gift for manipulation, mon chaton" Violet says as she walks into the room. Seth went to answer as there was a knock at the front door. Baron went there and came back with Paige and Mandy Rose. "Auntie Paige!" Raven hugged her aunt's legs. "Hey babygirl" Paige smiled.
"Hi Aunt Mandy," Fiona says hugging the blonde. "Hi sweetie, what's up?"
"Papa made choco-pancakes!"
"There's plenty if you want, ladies" Finn says
"No thanks, Finn...but we need to talk...without the girls" Paige replied with a serious look. I
Quickly telling Baron and Ember to watch the kids, Seth, Violet and Finn led 2/3rds of Absolution to his office.
"What's up." Violet says
"Mom got a lead on the Old Man" Paige says without hesitation. "You're serious?" Finn said. "Dead serious?" Paige nodded. "Mom's got Ruby going through her dark side contacts and Mox is fishing through Japan's criminal underworld. But right now...it's looking like he has Sanity and the Samoan Dynasty backing him up"
"Why would the Dynasty back him up?" Violet says harshly
Paige swallowed "He managed to convince Rocky that we were responsible for Roman's death. No one's heard from Galina since her and JoJo disappeared...so the Dynasty is gunning for us too."
At Paige's words Seth abruptly left the room without saying anything. "He's still healing" Violet muttered. Paige looked down, sniffing. "It was never Seth's fault" Finn added. Unknown to them, Seth stood just outside the doorway, listening to them. 'It was my fault' he thought. 'I'm the reason he's gone'
“Where's Sonya?” Violet asked. “If she isn't at the girl’s birthday party, Raven is going to throw a tantrum. They’re not pretty” “She’ll be there don’t worry. I unfortunately will not be, small role in a CW show” Finn rolled his eyes. “Your neices are turning six and you’re focused on a teenager show?” "Paige" Violet said quietly. "You have not missed a single birthday. You didn't miss the day they were born. Why now?"
"One of the old man's contacts works as a producer on this show. Slimy little shit named Kevin Dunn. I'm scoping out his hotel room so....Mom can fly out the next day and talk to him. I will video call the party but this is the best lead we've had on the old geezer in years” “I'm a little upset, but at least you told us" Finn said.
Paige smiled softly and hugged Violet. "Thank you. It'll be fast, like I said small role" "That's all you can get since you're mediocre at best" Seth teased. "Oh shut up" Paige said back

Fill in the questions/statement as if you are being interviewed for an article and you were your muse
Tag 10 people to do this meme, (repost, don’t reblog)
TAGGED BY: not @rogueprinceconsort =P & I know I’m not a RP blog, but I am a fanfic author so I still do the same kind of stuff, just everyone at once with chapters, so I’m sure ya won’t mind... idk itching to write Seto but his mind is all over the place in Ch7 of And You? (AO3/FFN), & I know I’ve missed a bunch of personal tags in the past, so, well, I’m here now. TAGGING: anyone 1. WHAT IS YOUR NAME?
“Seto Kaiba.”  (海馬 瀬人 Kaiba, Seto)
2. WHAT IS YOUR REAL NAME?
He narrows his eyes, already suspicious. “Legally, that IS my real name.”
3. DO YOU KNOW WHY YOU WERE CALLED THAT?
“I was born Seto,” he answers flatly, then smirks. “The Kaiba family name I earned for myself and my little brother at the age of 10, when Gozaburo agreed to adopt us thanks to my, superior negotiating skills.” [Seto after Egyptian Pharaoh Seth. Kaiba for, apparently, hippocampus/seahorse.]
4. ARE YOU SINGLE OR TAKEN? “Taken. Happily married to the number 1 female duelist, Mai Valentine. She’s now heading the new Fashion Tech and Merchandise Department at Kaiba Corp.” [but he’s also still looking >.>]
5. HAVE ANY ABILITIES OR POWERS? “Just bleeding edge technology development and superior dueling skills,” he shrugs smugly. [and hacking.] [You also accidentally activate latent magical powers every so often, dumbass. Sure he’s a genius. A genius that weaves techno-sorcery into everything & commands gods without even knowing it.] “Anything else you may have heard about magic or spirits or real monsters, is all just nonsense hocus pocus. It’s sensationalists trying to make our amazingly life-like holographic projections seem dangerous.”
6. STOP BEING A MARY SUE/GARY STU. “Heh, doesn’t that just mean born talented? You should be so lucky.”
7. WHAT’S YOUR EYE COLOR? “Blue,” he chuckles childishly. “It was probably what first drew me to, you know, Blue-Eyes, when I was young.” [It’s not. The Blue-Eyes White Dragon was his magical monster of light ‘girlfriend’ in Ancient Egypt in a past life of his 3000 years ago.]
8. HOW ABOUT YOUR HAIR COLOR? “Chestnut.”
9. HAVE YOU ANY FAMILY MEMBERS? “Living, my little brother, Mokuba, and now my lovely wife.”
10. OH? WHAT ABOUT PETS? “No pets. I barely have time for having two people in my life now it seems, and that’s even with Mokuba off travelling.” [any pet energy is expended on more Blue-Eyes White Dragon themed everything]
11. THAT’S COOL I GUESS, NOW TELL ME ABOUT SOMETHING YOU DON’T LIKE. “You wanna see a REAL Gary Stu?! As in, there is no reason he should have made it this far?! Joey fuckin Wheeler. This loser stole his way into my tournament, then has the nerve to even challenge me for 3rd place as if that meant anything, and he still ends up 4th even?! How! He operates on pure luck, and leeching off his ‘friends!’ His deck is a mess, I mean have you even seen his lineup?!?!” [Well that would all be redacted. Now, since this is for an interviewer for a published article...] He calmly and thoughtfully looks off at a spot on the far wall behind the interviewer. He purses his lips and furrows his brow, genuinely distraught, drawing from a direct encounter. “I’m actually more concerned than ever about the state of refugees- whether they have that official label or not. Around the world. Especially the children. These children don’t know what’s going on, and people say they care about children, but they really don’t. They’re not thinking of those kids- of refugee kids. Of poor kids. Of orphans or abused kids. And the way these refugees are being treated, those kids are getting hit with all those things at once. Ya know, I- I was fortunate enough to have that opportunity to be adopted, in a strong first-world nation, but I know what it’s like, to know that the grown ups are just using you, not listening to you. You’re nothing to them; maybe pawns. Now, I’m doing all I can, as president of Kaiba Corp, but there is still only so much we can do. We’re not making tanks or any weapons at all anymore-” He chokes at the thought of a tank staring him down specifically, compared to the latest news. He clears his throat to manage. “Not since the day I took over. We may not be contributing to that military industrial complex anymore, but the state of refugees today is still just as bad if not worse. Now they’re using weapons outlawed by the Geneva Conventions, and in countries that pride themselves on freedom and opportunity. Pteh. It’s madness. It’s evil.” [...aaand that just became the cover story] [We’ll be back after after a short break.]
12. DO YOU HAVE ANY HOBBIES/ACTIVITIES YOU LIKE DOING? “Besides dueling, uh, tinkering. Reading. Hacking into random databases I shouldn’t be in.”
13. EVER HURT ANYONE BEFORE? “Next question. Don’t even print that, or you’ll be hearing from my lawyers. And they don’t play so nice.” [By ‘lawyers’ I’m pretty sure he just means goons.]
14. EVER… KILLED ANYONE BEFORE? "No.” [Gozaburo.]
15. WHAT KIND OF ANIMAL ARE YOU? "Dragon.”
16. NAME YOUR WORST HABITS. "Tch, I wouldn’t have gotten to be president of a multi-billion-dollar corporation if I had bad habits.”  [That is literally his worst habit. Also how he got there is because of all his bad habits.] He chuckles at what he’s about to make fun of. “Then again, some people think that working too much is a bad habit.”
17. DO YOU LOOK UP TO ANYONE AT ALL? "How could I when I’m already on top?”
18. GAY, STRAIGHT, OR BISEXUAL? "Irrelevant.” He smiles menacingly. “Card games are more important anyway.” [Bi and trying to figure out how to tell his wife. Then again once he does that, the press will be easy. Possibly also grey ace or demi, since he does enjoy the physical aspects of being married & his crush.]
19. DO YOU GO TO SCHOOL? “Graduated high school early and then went right back to work as CEO, at the time. I don’t have time to waste getting a piece of paper to validate my knowledge that I’m already putting to use at Kaiba Corp everyday. --but I certainly support everyone staying in school as long as they can. Kaiba Corp offers a free college tuition program for any employee, paid ahead of time, and schedules can be worked around class and homework time as needed.”
20. DO YOU EVER WANT TO MARRY AND HAVE KIDS ONE DAY? “I never thought I would want to marry, but I have always assumed I would want to adopt. Now I am married, and we both want to adopt. Someday. It needs to be when I can have time for them...” [and he’s wondering why you are supposed to only marry one person...]
21. DO YOU HAVE ANY FANBOYS/FANGIRLS? “Yeah,” he laughs, genuinely embarrassed at this level of pure idolization, “I find it endearing to see people dress up as Yugi and I at events.”
22. WHAT ARE YOU MOST AFRAID OF? “Losing my little brother.”
23. WHAT DO YOU USUALLY WEAR? “Full-length pants, tight fitting turtlenecks, boots, and a trenchcoat. More leather and straps and buckles, the better.”
24. DO YOU LOVE SOMEONE? “Of course. My little brother and my wife.” [and Joey]
25. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WET YOURSELF? [he just makes this face:]
Tumblr media
[but possibly the last time he did hard drugs]
26. WHAT CLASS ARE YOU? (HIGH CLASS, MIDDLE CLASS, LOW CLASS) “Highest class.” He winks, for the spotlight.
27. HOW MANY FRIENDS DO YOU HAVE? “I don’t need ‘friends’ outside of my family.”
28. WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON PIE? “Finally, an intelligent question!” he laughs rudely. “My thoughts are that we should change the standard approximation for π to something closer to 3.16. That’s what I use in my calculations, and I find things just seem to work out better for me because of it.”
29. FAVORITE DRINK? “I’ve started drinking a lot more water, and I think that’s pretty much all I drink lately.”
30. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLACE? “It’s comforting being in my office, knowing where I belong, knowing that with me there, everyone I love is safe, knowing how I got there, and being proud of all I’ve accomplished, but...” [sometimes anxiety about it being Gozaburo’s old office creeps into his mind like an evil spirit or ghost...] “But more than that, I enjoy the wild freedom of just taking my Blue-Eyes jet out with some good music playing.” [oh my various gods he will always be an emo teen at heart <3]
31. ARE YOU INTERESTED IN SOMEONE? He scoffs. “Yes, I am genuinely interested in my wife. Mai is an amazing person. And- Ah, and, um, next question?” [and Joey!]
32. WHAT’S YOUR BRA CUP SIZE AND/OR HOW BIG IS YOUR WILLY? “What kind of magazine is this for, anyway?” he asks as an aside, then thinks up a ridiculous enough response. “Ever hear of Zorc? I’d say that’s roughly one-third the size of mine.” Under his breath, he scoffs in disgust. “Imbeciles.”
33. WOULD YOU RATHER SWIM IN THE LAKE OR THE OCEAN? “Er, a private pool, thanks. Too many paparazzi anyplace else, and I wouldn’t want to close off anything from the public.” [I hear there’s a river in Egypt he lives in though]
34. WHAT’S YOUR TYPE? “Independent. Strong. Great duelist. Someone who knows what it’s like at rock bottom, but still managed to claw their way to the top...” [he spaces out off to the side]
35. ANY FETISHES? *zoom out to room full of Blue-Eyes White Dragon themed EVERYTHING* “Nah.” [*insert Will Smith presenting his AO3 tags]
36. SEME OR UKE? TOP OR BOTTOM? DOMINANT OR SUBMISSIVE?
Tumblr media
[Switch! But “And You?” is stuck at a T rating, sooo...]
37. CAMPING OR INDOORS? "The fuck- you’re giving me whiplash with these questions,” he mutters. “Camping sounds nice. Real camping. Mokuba and I used to build forts and play outside a lot. I should ask him if he wants to go on a camping trip when he gets back. I doubt- well, no, I think Mai would like that, too.” [And Joey can cook them “candy bars!”]
38. ARE YOU WANTING THE QUIZ TO END?

An Malus pumila on Your Head, Partnership Physical science
Attempts to earn clear up the differences and resemblances of gentlemen and gals possess been made by theorists, church building leaders, and 24-hour interval-clip Tv set. Entirely receive failed. Chase hundreds of old age of ontogeny men carry on to tend to Leigh Hunt and get. Manly relieve contain into consideration their character to be the provider, to offer home the clubbed furred point for tiffin. Do ladies evening in real time select their mate for his bodily cognition? Women notwithstanding are potential to counseling and enter in their helpful occasion in our houses produced from sticks and Stone. It is women WHO get this alone functionality to stomach More hunters. It is girls World Health Organization bear on to put unitedly the non-living furry thing by desegregation it with organic fertiliser and natural matter plucked variety the ground. Do males blue-ribbon their ladies based on forcible featherbed heraldic bearing characteristics? "Large matters, make terrific mom." Anthropologists get actually delivered sure knowledge domain show that women and guys are divers, and bear really progressed according to roughly typewrite of forcible police and ethnic guidepost. Grownup hands and women ought to are support in their cavern out and character a bond, founded on their primitive need to be sure as shooting to the other and to safeguard their symbiotic partnership. If it have got been so, and so how do we signify the disjoint horizontal surface? How do we qualify the many dysphoric marriages? Sir Isaac Newton, a 17th Hundred investigator, may good explain it devising purpose of his laws of physics. unitary. "An product at relaxation has the tendency to keep on being at rest and an item in movement tends to keep on being in movement with the actual exact same velocity and in the exact same guidance until acted on by an out of stability force." accounting software malaysia drives the SUV from arena to subject and testament keep on to do so unless she is interrupted by a fixed points named a publish. Cooking and cleaning mama tends to acquit on cookery and cleanup except if she has to zip to aerobic exercise family, or dumbfound the kids. Idiot box guy tends to stay on at respite except the refreshment is higher up and desires to habit the sandbox, or is proscribed of beer, or for each one. 2. "The acceleration of an object as manufactured by a web force is directly proportional to the magnitude of the internet pressure, in the correct very same recommendations as the web power, and inversely proportional to the mass of the item." Many people accept into thoughtfulness this as falling bricks and feathers from magniloquent structures. It very is truly a prompting to the partnership behavior of mankind and charwoman. See, backwards in the 17th century, and anthropologists testament concord, women of entirely ages had been regarded to be items, and guys complete up the mogul. If you translate done the 2nd jurisprudence erst More it would be: She moves quicker to her mom or to her fanatical when he pushes her extra complicated. Or, he presses her by capital punishment selfsame small at all, notably skinny to your dwelling on weekends when he asserts that he has to rest so he toilet carry on on to occasion and pretend voiceless Johnny Cash so she potty induce the SUV to deliberate the offspring ones to soccer and concert dance and liquid and festinate dwelling to amount the laundry and cook dinner party and be entirely Seth for sexuality when he is realised utilizing the laptop technique and wish cause an erecting. 3. "For each and every motion, there is an opposite and equivalent response." This casual Lord securely thinks and verifies that Sir Isaac's 3rd jurisprudence discusses pretty much apiece and every kinship affair in in between roast and adult female. This natural philosophy rule, this legislating of graphic symbol, this unwashed roast-peeress regularization, describes precisely what is belike to transpire to him when he forgets her birthday. It likewise describes why she get's him exactly the right color go terminated for his golf golf equipment, or the fantabulous measure t-shirt with the button downwards pinch that goes with his trousers that she gave him survive thirty daylight historical period. The thirdly legislation as well describes why she reacts the elbow room she does when he brings her flowers. Or does non look out on her natal day. Or ordinarily takes her to meal, or requires the unseasoned ones to association football so she potty birth a ease. Or says, "I really like you" and indicates it. Do fellas choice their females subject on de facto strong-arm youngster carriage characteristics? Anthropologists get genuinely bestowed unshakable knowledge domain manifest that gentlemen and women are dissimilar, and receive progressed in accord to just about motley of corporeal jurisprudence and appreciation govern. Male and girls bequeath pauperization to domicile in their spelunk and shape a bond, primarily founded on their primitive person penury to bear to make believe for sure you the former and to secure their symbiotic Latinian language. It is really au fond a referral to the marriage routines of somebody and lady friend. See, indorse in the 17th century, and anthropologists leave concur, women were organism believed more or less to be items, and males terminated up the press.

177. “Hail to the Thief,” 178. “In Rainbows,” 179. “King of Limbs,” 180. “A Moon Shaped Pool” by Radiohead
Here we are. At that point where I have to defend my previous assertion that Hail to the Thief (#177) is closer to my heart than the widely-beloved Kid A. And here we go…
There are 14 tracks, far more than any other Radiohead album, and I only dislike one of them. And it’s not “We Suck Young Blood” (it’s “The Gloaming”). Like, “Blood” is a creepy, chain-rattling chiller with deliberately cracked vocals and that cool little jazzy breakdown between the verses. “The Gloaming” is like a ghost taking a nap.
Even stranger, my favorite songs are all in a little clump in the last third. Right after the aforementioned downers, this suite of winners begins with “There, There,” the lead single. Featuring one of the loveliest, slightly gritty guitar lines in the catalogue and a chorus lyric (“Just ‘cause you feel it, doesn’t mean it’s there”) that stings, if not like a knife in the heart, than maybe like a sharpened icicle in the lower abdomen. “I Will” is one second shy of 2 minutes, but there is beauty in the utter simplicity of gently-strummed electric guitar and three-part Yorke harmony. It’s the soundtrack to staring into a dying fire. And it transitions right into “A Punchup At a Wedding,” slinky and pissed-off at once, sitting next to “You and Whose Army?” as the straight-up coolest piano numbers. One of these days, mark my words, I will master it, because it’s just fairly repetitive chords. But the distinct rhythm of the pounding on the keys has always slightly eluded me.
The escalating tension of this killer suite boils over in crunchy, foreboding synth and aggressive drums on “Myxomatosis.” “I— don’t— know— why I— feel so— tongue… tied” is, I believe, the exact cadence of the chorus, and I can identify with those moments when the churning chemical processes make articulate expression impossible.
15 years on, Thief remains hard for people to pin down. Though there are a few “angry” songs, the material is not explicitly about political leaders or Blair or Bush. That title pun was read as a pissy, middle finger salute as on-the-nose as a Banksy, despite any statements made by the band members to downplay that interpretation. Unlike the albums that made their name, this collection of songs lacks an over-arching thematic focus, which may still hurt its legacy. But I will continue to argue passionately for the music’s inherent strength. The follow-up, released four years later, requires no such defense.
In Rainbows (#178) was my introduction to Radiohead. It has and will probably fulfill that same purpose for a lot of others. From 2007-2010, I was in college, majoring in film production and spending a lot of time in a windowless room filled with iMacs. I give you the range of years, because I’m not positive just how fresh the surprise late-’07 digital release of that album was when my friend Seth handed me the thumb drive in that iMac editing lab. College is a time to experiment with new experiences, you see, and I really only followed that credo when it came to dadaist TV comedies and ponderous rock bands. So in that sterile environment, when I should have been working, I put in earbuds instead.
“15 Step” began with clapboard beats played through a glitchy hard drive. Thom lamented another repeat of the vicious cycle. Then Jonny’s guitar came in, soft and inviting as your pillow, bolstered by Colin Greenwood’s nimble bass. A sample of schoolyard cheers, and then we stepped off the sheer drop. The rest of the album was what I saw as I fell and hit the ocean’s surface, a sort of “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” if the man dreamt of the noose tightening anyway. “Nude” is the haughty confirmation of the protagonist’s fear in “There, There”— “Don’t get any big ideas, they’re not gonna happen” is the lilting, falsetto admonishment. It shares DNA with R.E.M.’s “Tongue” from 1994’s Monster, to the point of sibling rivalry. But Michael Stipe’s feminine protagonist on that tune feels like an amusing pose in comparison.
To continue both the R.E.M. connection and the falling man’s dilemma, the split title of “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi” acknowledges the rapid, repeating guitar technique that that band’s Peter Buck made a staple, but here it sounds like water rushing overhead. I’m sinking deeper, but I’ve determined that the way out is through. By the time the clacking boneyard beat and flickering piano of “Videotape” laid the album to rest back in that college computer lab, I felt like I’d been through something. That some synaptic pathways had been rewired by a piece of art in that way that becomes neurologically harder and harder to achieve again as the years go by. The hypnotic draw of this series of songs is impossible to shake even after an ensuing near-decade of revisitation.
By the time The King of Limbs (#179) leaked onto the web in 2011, Radiohead had been taking over my brain one used CD purchase at a time. As I collected the discography, marveling at OK Computer and puzzling at Pablo Honey, the security blanket melodies and instrumentation of In Rainbows wriggled in ever deeper. So the murky production, polyrhythmic grooves, and murmured vocals of Limbs were not immediately arresting. “It’s a grower,” I gently warned people when handing them a burned CD-R. Meaning over multiple listens, not over the course of the album: at 8 tracks and 37 minutes, it’s as fleet as a couple of their EPs.
Opener “Bloom” is like the score to a Biblical epic as listened to through a glass pressed to a hotel room wall, all muted horns and a vocal that sweeps like sun rays. “Morning Mr. Magpie” and “Little by Little” are statements of Limbs’ groove-focused identity, and melody-wise tend to blend into each other with little resistance. Where the guitar on Rainbows was a hand to guide you, here it’s another rhythm component, along with the doubled-up drum kit: as the band took the songs on the road, they enlisted Clive Deamer to join long-time drummer Philip Selway. Four hands were better than two to create the beds these compositions required.
“Feral” jettisons pop song structure completely as a cut-up chord collage dashed against unstoppable train drums.  “Lotus Flower” is 2/3rds floor-rattling bass, 2/3rds hand-claps, and 2/3rds crystalline falsetto: as mathematically impossible as Yorke’s dance moves in the video. The album closes out with three pastorally pretty and almost terminally mellow numbers: the deep embedded roots of “Codex,” the treetop birdsong of “Give Up the Ghost,” the late Sunday morning wakeup of “Separator.” The melodies are sweet invitations, but I can understand if they sound, in their final produced form, like rock n’roll Ambien. The live arrangements, like those recorded for the “From The Basement” special, are generally thought to breathe extra life into the tunes. The recent Hans Zimmer/Radiohead reimagining of “Bloom” for “Blue Planet 2” makes that song’s cinematic ambitions more readily apparent, as well. But I’ve got a soft spot for any and all versions, and don’t feel any sting of disappointment that TKOL wasn’t In Rainbows Part 2.
The 4-5 year gaps between records has proven an energizing practice for the band’s members as they explore their own projects. Jonny Greenwood created an impressive body of work as Paul Thomas Anderson’s film composer of choice, Yorke (with producer Nigel Godrich in tow) collaborated with Flea on Atoms For Peace and indulged DJ-focused electronica on the self-released Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes. Where Rainbows had drawn inspiration for its sonic approach from the close-miked intimacy of Yorke’s solo record The Eraser (more on that next time), 2016’s A Moon Shaped Pool (#180) has Greenwood’s stellar orchestral composition work threaded throughout.
Any hazy production cobwebs from TKOL are swept aside by the Bernard Hermann stabbing strings and depth charge bass line of “Burn the Witch,” the true paranoid opus of our surveillance state age. “Red crosses on wooden doors, and if you float, you burn,” Yorke hums and coos, deliberately juxtaposing his trademark vibrating falsetto against the dire warnings. “We Know Where You Live,” stated the cryptic postcards sent to fans, and it was true, because we’ve offered our whereabouts freely to whoever will listen. “Daydreaming” follows its own somnambulant trajectory, with piano that ambles along until periodically the notes catch a long wind, to paraphrase the Feist song, swirling like cel-painted animated leaves. The video closes the gap between Jonny’s prestige film work and his longest-running gig with P.T. Anderson helming a low-key gorgeous M.C. Escher puzzle of Thom moving purposefully through an endless series of doors, spaces, environments.
Before the album dropped, I saw a live clip of Yorke debuting “Desert Island Disk,” just he and his acoustic guitar. The studio version does little to distract from that simple backbone: it’s a sweet, dexterous garden party riff bolstered with gentle drumming and subtle synth washes. “Glass Eyes,” the shortest, most melancholy track, has taken hold like an itch in the mind. Watery electric piano and Yorke’s murmured phone message verses slip through like a dream you struggle to remember the details of, until suddenly the exact angle of a cold gray street corner sparks a complete deja vu, and the heart-rending string section swells.
I’ve taken to playing “The Numbers” at inappropriate volumes, lately. Symphonic rock is nothing new, but it’s rare to hear such a mid-tempo acoustic groove be so suddenly opened up by falling stomach cello courtesy of London Contemporary Orchestra. “We call upon the people / The people have this power / The numbers don’t decide / The system is a lie” is the undeniable political exhortation, and the strings are the wielded tools of revolution: if “Burn The Witch” was a warning against mob rule, “The Numbers” is a rallying cry for positive upheaval.
“True Love Waits,” and there’s no better evidence for that sentiment than the official release of this song from the era of “The Bends.” Live performances and bootlegs through the years featured variations on acoustic guitar or Rhodes piano. Repeated attempts in the studio every few years yielded nothing wholly satisfying. In its final version, closing the album, reverb-laden grand piano and Yorke’s ghostly yearning is joined by glittering ice crystal notes that steadily accumulate. In my head I see the scene from A.I. in which the artificial boy, David, patiently and gratefully beholds the Blue Fairy, as his systems freeze into a thousand years of sleep. Melancholy become manifest.
In the next entry, I’ll jump out of alphabetical order to revisit two of Thom Yorke’s extracurricular activities.

Talking some actual football
Somehow, someway, fall camp is here.
No, starting practice does not guarantee there will be football this fall but it does at least keep the dream alive. After what has been one of the strangest off-seasons of all time, it’s nice to have a little taste of normalcy. The season still hangs in the balance but for now we can at least imagine what this Auburn team could like look this season.
Usually with these depth chart projections, I try to give a snapshot of where I think things might stand right now. Without spring practice though it seems kind of silly to use that criteria. Instead, I am going to give my best shot at predicting the depth chart we will see come game 1. Also, unlike the cowardly coaching staffs around the country, I will not resort to the easy out of using `OR`s to keep everyone on the roster happy. Call your shot or shut off your laptop. That’s what my dad would always say.
Let’s go.

Quarterback
#10 Bo Nix | 6’2” | 213 lbs | Sophomore
#14 Grant Loy | 6’5” | 230 lbs | Senior
#24 Cord Sandberg | 6’3” | 222 lbs | Sophomore
#15 Chayil Garnett | 6’1” | 216 lbs | Freshman
One of the biggest questions facing this Auburn football team in 2020 is whether or not Bo Nix has taken the next step. As a true freshman, Nix was thrown into the fire against one of the toughest schedules in America. He performed admirably but far from spectacularly. There were incredible moments where you could see the All-American potential and frustrating lows that had fans wondering if he was the right quarterback for the job.
He completed less than 50% of his passes in 3 of Auburn’s biggest games last fall. That can’t happen this season. He averaged 6.7 yards per attempt, one of the worst for quarterbacks under Gus Malzahn since Jeremy Johnson. That must improve this fall. He had only 3 games where he threw multiple TDs. He needs to double that number in 2020.
But there is also plenty of positives to build on. When Auburn needed him most, he often rose to the occasion. Nix seemed at his best when the Tigers upped the pace of play and took his handcuffs off. Even in losses against LSU and UGA, Auburn stormed back in large part due to Nix carving apart elite secondaries. It’s up to Chad Morris to find a way to harness all of Nix’s raw talent and elevate his play from “good for a true freshman” to “one of the best in the SEC”.
Running Back (4)
#21 Mark Antony-Richards | 6’1” | 208 lbs | rFreshman
#4 Tank Bigsby | 6’0” | 204 lbs | Freshman
#3 D.J. Williams | 5’10” | 216 lbs | Sophomore
#8 Shaun Shivers | 5’7” | 179 lbs | Junior
#22 Harold Joiner | 6’4” | 215 lbs | rSophomore
I am still clinging on to my early summer prediction of Mark-Antony Richards being Auburn’s RB1 in 2020 but my confidence has faded dramatically. Why? Well it has nothing to do with Richards who I still believe is immensely talented. It has more to do with Tank Bigsby. It’s hard to ignore the buzz building around the true freshman who has apparently impressed coaches and teammates alike with his attitude and work ethic since arriving on the Plains. I won’t be upset in the least if my Richards prediction is wrong because it likely means Bigsby has lived up to the hype.
However, entering fall camp, D.J. Williams is absolutely the man to beat. Having him at #3 doesn’t mean I think he’s bad. It means I think that highly of the ability of the two freshman listed ahead of him but it wouldn’t be a stunner if the rising sophomore held onto the top spot. He showed flashes in 2019 of his big play ability but he also failed to snatch the #1 spot from Boobee Whitlow when given the chance. I will add that if DJ Williams is Auburn’s 3rd best running back this fall that’s a testament to how quickly Carnell Williams has elevated the talent in that room.
Shaun Shivers and Harold Joiner are the veterans of the group and the biggest wildcards. Shivers will always be an Iron Bowl legend but I still don’t see him as an every down back. I am still not sure if Harold Joiner even is a running back. The Tigers seemed more apt to use him as a pass catcher than a ball carrier in 2019. We will see if that changes this fall. I’m ok with him making me look really dumb though with a breakout season.
Tight End (3)
#87 Brandon Frazier | 6’7” | 270 lbs | Freshman
#47 John Samuel Shenker | 6’3” | 241 lbs | Junior
#86 Luke Deal | 6’6” | 247 lbs | rFreshman
#85 Tyler Fromm | 6’5” | 237 lbs | rFreshman
#89 JJ Pegues | 6’2” | 300 lbs | Freshman
That’s right, calling my shot here folks. The tight end position is about to become MUCH more involved in Auburn’s passing attack and I think the man leading the charge will be a true freshman. Brandon Frazier was Chad Morris’s #1 TE target last cycle. He landed his pledge while head coach at Arkansas and then landed him again when named offensive coordinator at Auburn. You don’t work that hard for a kid to sit him on the bench. He’s a big man at 6’7” 270 lbs but is a legit vertical threat and has the ability to make plays after the catch. He might not start the season as the #1 guy but I wouldn’t be shocked if he’s a starter by season end.
Pegues is the biggest wildcard of the bunch. 6’2” 300 lbs is not something you usually see at tight end but you also rarely see 6’2” 300 lb kids with Pegues’s athletic ability. He more fits the mold of Malzahn’s preferred athlete at the 3-back and Gus seemed almost giddy about this kid on signing day. I expect the Tigers to draw up some specific packages to get him involved but not sure he sees regular time at tight end out the gate.
Wide Receiver (9/Split End)
#18 Seth Williams | 6’3” | 211 lbs | Junior
#9 Ze’Vian Capers | 6’4” | 194 lbs | Freshman
#81 J.J. Evans | 6’3” | 210 lbs | Freshman
The 9 spot has been a gateway to the NFL under Chad Morris. DeAndre Hopkins, Martavis Bryant, Mike Williams and Courtland Sutton all starred at this position for Morris. All four were NFL draft picks with Hopkins and Williams both going in the 1st. Might Seth be next?
The Tuscaloosa native emerged as Auburn’s most potent offensive weapon in 2019. Despite missing some time with a shoulder injury the rising junior caught 59 passes for 830 yards and 8 touchdowns. Williams excelled at winning 1 on 1 matchups and should get even more opportunities to eat under Chad Morris. What might matter most is whether or not Auburn can establish a #2 threat to take some of the pressure off Williams and give him more space to work in 2020.
With Zach Farrar transferring out and Matthew Hill moving to defense, I expect a pair of true freshman to see most of the work behind Williams at the 9. Capers has drawn some early comparisons to Williams and seems the likeliest of the freshman class to become the next dominant outside WR for the Tigers.
Evans was a big play receiver in high school and would give the Tigers some more speed at this spot ala Darius Slayton/Sammie Coates. He’s a big kid too at 6’3” 210 lbs so he’s got the frame to beat press coverage on the outside. I am excited about this freshman crop of wideouts and interested to see who can start to emerge as the next man up behind Seth.
Wide Receiver (5/Big Slot)
#11 Shedrick Jackson | 6’0” | 201 lbs | Junior
#17 Elijah Canion | 6’4” | 213lbs | Freshman
With Sal Cannella departure and Chad Morris’s arrival, I expect to see some changes at this WR spot moving forward. Under Malzahn, the 5 was initially the tight end before merging into some sort of tight end/wide receiver hybrid featuring bigger framed athletes who excelled as blockers. That could still be the case under Morris but he’s also used this position as the grooming ground for the next 9 man so don’t be surprised if someone like Ze’Vian Capers gets some work here this fall.
However, it’s pretty obvious Shedrick Jackson will be the man heading into the season. I am still high on Jackson’s potential and am hopeful the Tigers find more ways to use this kid to stretch defenses vertically. He excelled in high school at taking the top off of defenses. He’s shown he will put in the work as a blocker now it’s time to reward him with some deep balls.
Keep an eye on Canion. He was the lowest rated wideout of the bunch but might be the freakiest athlete. I also expect Auburn to cross train wide receivers more under Morris so don’t be surprised if you see Jackson and Canion get some action at the 9 as well.
Wide Receiver (3/Slot)
#12 Eli Stove | 6’0” | 191 lbs | Senior
#6 Ja’Varrius Johnson | 5’9” | 160 lbs | rFreshman
#23 Caylin Newton | 5’11” | 201 lbs | Junior
Ok so I am cheating a bit on this one. By adding a fourth WR on the depth chart, I can avoid the traffic jam at the 2 and list both Stove and Schwartz as starters.
Eli Stove had his most productive season last fall and will look to build on it with a strong senior campaign. To do that, Chad Morris needs to find a way to get him, Williams and Schwartz all on the field at the same time more often. Last season, Auburn’s three best WRs did not play double digit snaps together. That needs to change in 2020.
Johnson is a breakout player to watch. He’s got a similar skillset to Ryan Davis with possibly more explosiveness. 160 is pretty damn light though for SEC football but it doesn’t matter if no one can get their hands on you.
You know Newton is going to attempt at least one pass on some sort of trick play this fall. I am interested to see if he can find a way onto the field. My guess is his snaps will be limited this season but he will have a chance to see more regular playing time in 2021.
Wide Receiver (2/Flanker)
#1 Anthony Schwartz | 6’0” | 179 lbs | Junior
#5 Kobe Hudson | 6’1” | 196 lbs | Freshman
Malcolm Johnson Jr | 6’1” | 185 lbs | Freshman
The player that was likely the most excited to see Chad Morris arrive on the Plains was probably Anthony Schwartz. Injuries have slowed things but it’s also felt like Malzahn isn’t quite sure how to harness all of Schwartz’s speed. I expect Morris to use him like he did Sammie Watkins back in 2011. Lots of designed concepts to get the ball in his hands in a variety of ways from speed sweeps to deep shots to quick hitting concepts over the middle. For Auburn’s offense to reach its full potential the Tigers must find a way to truly establish Schwartz as one of the scariest offensive weapons in the SEC.
Behind him are two freshman. I have high hopes for Kobe Hudson but I suspect he’s a year away from being heavily involved in the offense. Malcolm Johnson Jr is supposed to be playing his senior year of high school this fall instead he will be playing an SEC only schedule. That’s a large jump for any kid.
Left Tackle
#68 Austin Troxell | 6’6” | 312 lbs | Junior
#65 Alec Jackson | 6’5” | 315 lbs | Junior
#77 Kilian Zierer | 6’7” | 294 lbs | Junior
#72 Prince Michael Sammons | 6’7” | 313 lbs | Senior
The biggest question mark at the position with the most question marks heading into fall camp is the left tackle position. Despite Auburn’s struggles to recruit highly rated prep offensive tackles, they have found a way to pretty consistently have an NFL calibre player at this key position each season. That doesn’t look so certain heading into the 2020 campaign.
There is no question Austin Troxell has SEC level talent. But three major knee injuries in six years is hard to ignore. If he’s truly 100% and can stay healthy all fall, I would expect him to be Auburn’s starting left tackle and to have a strong season. However, he will be facing some fierce competition this fall camp.
Kilian Zierer was my pick to be Auburn’s starting left tackle back in the fall but he too is recovering from a serious knee injury. Malzahn says he’s “almost” back to 100% which is good but given his little experience at the position along with most of his time on Auburn’s campus to date focused on rehab, I doubt he’s Auburn’s day 1 starter. He might emerge later in the fall.
That means former defensive lineman turned tackle, Alec Jackson, has a tremendous opportunity in the coming weeks to make a move up the depth chart. It also wouldn’t be unprecedented considering Auburn’s most recent starting left tackle. He worked at the position all last season so hopefully he enters camp more focused on elevating his game than learning the position. It will be fascinating to see how things play out at left tackle.
Left Guard
#71 Brandon Council | 6’4” | 325 lbs | Junior
#56 Tashawn Manning | 6’3” | 324 lbs | Junior
#62 Kameron Stutts | 6’4” | 325 lbs | rSophomore
It’s still early but there’s been a lot of positive buzz surrounding former Akron standout Brandon Council. The graduate transfer has two years of eligibility remaining and is likely the most versatile piece on Auburn’s offense line. He’s reportedly worked at guard to start his Auburn career but he’s played both center and tackle previously in his career. That flexibility makes it likely he starts somewhere on the offensive line. If Troxell and Zierer struggle to get their legs underneath them and Jackson proves not ready, don’t be surprised to see Council bump outside.
Behind him are two intriguing players. Tashawn Manning, like Alec Jackson, arrived on campus as a defensive lineman but has now transitioned to the offensive side of the ball. When Auburn’s 2nd team offensive line entered the games last fall, Manning manned the left guard position. The competition is stiff in the interior of Auburn’s offensive line but I expect Manning to be very involved. If he doesn’t earn a starting spot chances are good he will be the first guard off the bench after an injury.
There’s also Kameron Stutts who wasn’t a highly regarded recruit coming out of high school but a kid who I really feel like has a chance to develop into a solid player on Auburn’s offensive line. I would be surprised if he earns a starting gig this fall but we’ll see if he can make some noise in the coming weeks.
Center
#52 Nick Brahms | 6’3” | 299 lbs | Junior
#79 Kamaar Bell | 6’2” | 325 lbs | rFreshman
#57 Avery Jernigan | 6’3” | 306 lbs | Freshman
The one position that seems certain starting camp is the center position. After playing merry go round with Kaleb Kim the past two seasons, Brahms finds himself the lone returning starter and the likely leader of Auburn’s front five. He struggled as a freshman due in large part to so much strength lost after a gruesome leg injury but improved as a sophomore. Now it’s about taking the next step from “good enough to start” to “being one of the best centers in the league”.
Behind him are two kids that will likely be battling out to be Brahm’s incumbent in two years. Kamaar Bell was the last player to make it to campus in 2019 and took a redshirt without seeing any action. Now with a year of strength training under his belt, Bell looks poised to emerge as Auburn’s backup center this fall. He’s a powerful kid who will add some bulk to the interior of Auburn’s offensive line.
But Bell will face some stiff competition from one of the more underrated members of Auburn’s 2020 signing class. Avery Jernigan ain’t flashy but he loves hitting folks and has the skillset to be a really good player for the Tigers in the very near future. I am really intrigued to watch this position battle unfold over the coming years between Bell and Jernigan.
Right Guard
#58 Keiondre Jones | 6’3” | 335 lbs | rFreshman
#50 Jalil Irvin | 6’2” | 310 lbs | Sophomore
#54 Tate Johnson | 6’3” | 309 lbs | Freshman
Before a concussion sidelined him for the fall, Keiondre Jones was turning heads as a true freshman. That buzz returned during bowl practice and I think he’s the frontrunner to take over Mike Horton’s old spot.
But he’s far from a lock. Jalil Irvin was Auburn’s backup right guard last fall and probably enters the fall as the #1 guy. I thought Irvin’s future would be at center for the Tigers but Auburn slid him over to guard last spring and the results have been positive. Depending on what happens at right tackle these two could also see competition from Brodarious Hamm if Jack Bicknell decides to bump him back inside.
Right Tackle
#59 Brodarious Hamm | 6’5” | 330 lbs | Junior
#65 Brenden Coffey | 6’5” | 279 lbs | Junior
#76 Jeremiah Wright | 6’5” | 340 lbs | Freshman
Despite never having started for the Tigers, Brodarious Hamm is the name that keeps coming up when folks talk about offensive lineman with the highest ceilings. Hamm started his career at guard but slid outside last season and looks poised to be Jack Driscoll’s replacement this fall.
The biggest wildcard at offensive tackle this fall has to be Brenden Coffey. The JUCO signee looked destined to be a Tiger over the summer before Zierer’s commitment seemed to end any chance of it happening. Then when Jonathan Buskey’s academic status became uncertain, Auburn pushed for and eventually landed the big man. Coffey is a tremendous athlete who could also slide inside if needed. If he shows out this fall, it would give Auburn the flexibility to move Hamm back inside. I suspect though he starts his career off as the #2 guy
Looking at Auburn’s offensive skill players, it’s easy to see the incredible potential of this offense. But examining the offensive line quickly makes it hard to get too high on this offensive attack until the abundance of questions are answered up front. I think there’s talent on this OL but all of it is unproven. With no spring, a new offensive line coach and just a few weeks from kickoff, building and developing this new offensive line is this offense’s biggest challenge to reaching its ceiling.
Tomorrow, we will take a look at the defensive side of the ball where a number of super stars are gone but a ton of proven talent remains.
War Eagle!

Tumblr media
This is the LAST post for December, meaning it's also the FINAL post for the year. Anything special to publish in the conclusive day of 2017? NOPE. Just this... uhmmm, random ramblings. Ahahaha...
My internet went down completely for around 2 weeks since December 13th. The unexpected 'incident' (I apparently has burned my modem *sigh*) made me switched into my creative side and did genuine FUN non-internet related things instead. And I got all caught up by it... that I practically did NOT prepare anything for Tumblr.
Had a Random-News-Digest prepared for mid-December, but ditched it completely because the content would be highly outdated now. Wanted to do my monthly recap-view for "Kamen Rider Build", but haven't finished it so it'll have to wait until next month. The only thing I could pull off was the recap-views for "Uchu Sentai Kyuranger" last 2 episodes of the year. Though to be honest, that amazing show was part of my 'offline fun' as well. So yeah, unlike last year, there is no TOP 10 list this year. Didn't even publish anything for Christmas, because I completely FORGOT about it! LOL... (^^;)
Anyways, to make up for all of that, I've written a rough 'RECAP' of what went through my life this year. Entertainment-wise, of course, and not all but just some of the highlights. In list form! Why? Because I feel like it *grins*. Here goes nothing...
Movies, Oh movies...
- Watched even less movies on the theatre this year, and opted to wait several releases on home video. Only went to see the big guns, thus there isn't any disappointment. - Surprisingly, I loved the live action "Beauty and the Beast" more than the animated original. Dan Stevens' solo number "Evermore" is stuck in my head ever since. - Haven't seen "Coco", and really want to. Here's hoping the home video will be released soon. I guess I should see "Cars 3" first, huh? - "Dunkirk" was magnificent. War movie is usually not my forte, so I'm pleasantly surprised that Christopher Nolan managed to make me enjoy one. Was it the short duration, the all-out jerks of the army, or the non-stop intensity? Don't know. But if there's at least one thing I've gained from it: I disliked Harry Styles ever more now. No kidding. Poor French soldier... - I'm a visual guy so when I saw a disturbing scene, it usually stayed on my head for a good while. That bloody scene after the bomb explosion on "Stronger", for example? *sigh*. I hope Jake Gyllenhall receives an Oscar nomination for his work on this movie. - "Death Note" and "Ghost in the Shell"? Enjoyed the first one more, but both deserved better. - Tom Cruise's "The Mummy" was mediocre, but I'm among the minority who actually want to see more of Universal's Dark Universe. Even if just to see more of Russell Crowe going Jekyll. Charlie Hunnam's "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" was the movie's kindred spirit, while "Kong: Skull Island" was the opposite. Kong will be meeting Godzilla in the coming years! - Comic book adaptations were generally top notch. Naturally the three Marvel Studios' releases; "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2", "Spider-Man: Homecoming", and "Thor: Ragnarok"; would be my top picks. Don't ask me to choose which one is the best though! All three were amazing and marvelous in their own unique ways, so I'd gladly rank them in the same spot just to be fair. - I admit, "Logan" and "Wonder Woman" were great too, but I didn't like them as much as everyone else on the planet. Not sure why, I guess... none of them was my cup of tea? Let's just say, there were problems on each of them that I couldn't quite tolerate and it reduced my overall impression on them. - Don't ask about "Justice League". I'll wait until I can borrow a copy when it's out on home video. Not wasting my money on a poorly reviewed DC Films. For now, "The LEGO Batman Movie" remains to be the best DC release of the year. - "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" was just NOT as good as the prequel. It was fun, but it felt like it's repetitive yet also missing something and trying too much.
Show Must Go On...
- Just realized that I've seen MORE TV series this year! Both the currently in broadcast, or titles from previouse years like "Westworld". Oh WOW... - Both Marvel's "Iron Fist" and Marvel's "The Defenders" were genuine duds. Both TV series were underwhelming and disappointing, that I have lost any urge to see Marvel's "The Punisher". - Haven't seen Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." 5th season as well, because I haven't been feeling it. Though that will change in the near future because I'm itching to see its 5th episode. Hey, my boy Fitz and Hunter are the star of that episode, right? THAT I just have to see! I wonder if seeing that episode would be enough to convince me to watch the previous four episodes... - Currently following Marvel's "Runaways", though this 1st season might be my first and last. Don't know why, but not feeling it either. I think CW's "Riverdale" was a more watchable show, and even that one have been dropped after Season 1. LOL. I guess teenage soap-opera is just NOT my thing. - The 5th and final season of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" was kind of... all over the place too. This show should've ended with Season 3, if you ask me. It had a bittersweet ending, akin to "Samurai Jack". But it also did not ended gracefully, and far less enjoyable to follow. - "Stranger Things" Season 2 was amazing. It had a somewhat different vibe compared to the 1st one, but equally enjoyable to watch. Poor characters whose name starts with 'B'... - I think the 3rd and 4th Seasons of "Voltron Legendary Defender" were initially meant to be one unit. The show's first two seasons were impressive, but these latter two were... okay? I don't know why, but it felt like it has waned a bit. - "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" was somewhat similar. I had great time with Season 1 and 2, but Season 3 was a bit... uneven. Many of the jokes didn't quite hit, and some of the story development started feeling like a recycled trick. Still, I would love to see a 4th Season, and hopefully with better improvements. - Was expecting "Big Hero 6: The Series" to be as amazing as the Oscar-winning movie... but alas that didn't seem to be the case. Didn't quite enjoy the 2-episodes premiere as much as I wanted to. A complete opposite to "DuckTales", that hit all the right notes. The sole complaint I have about this reboot/remake, is that Scrooge McDuck's adventure isn't airing new episodes on a weekly basis! Aaaaargggh, the long wait is making me angry. - If you haven't seen "Thunderbirds Are Go", then what are you waiting for? I feel the 2nd Season had more and more amazing moments, to the point that I hope Season 3 will come sooner than later. - Comedies are taking my leisure time now! Have been following Seth McFarlane's "The Orville". It was mediocre to good, and desperately in need of improvements (hopefully in Season 2). Yet I keep going back and see it. Is it the star power of its guest stars? - Adam Scott and Craig Robinson's "Ghosted" is on my top priority watch. Sure, the quality has reduced a bit since the pilot, but the supernatural agents aren't going anytime soon from my house. - The same with Kevin Finn! Great goodness, I have only started watching "Kevin Probably Saves the World" since early this month (the benefit of NOT getting preoccupied by the internet LOL), but I'm already regretting why I didn't start sooner. Now I honestly can't wait to see more! Kevin is such an adorkable, likeable, and surprisingly relatable quirky lead. The kind of guy I would totally love to be best friends with in real life. Really though, the show is infectuous with its acts of kindness, heartwarming with its pleasant vibes, and also surprisingly engaging through its personal conflicts. If you hear me giggling, laughing out loud, or sobbing lately, you can probably thank Kevin, his guardian Angel, family, and friends for that! Seriously...

- Turns out, "Kekkai Sensen & Beyond" wasn't the sequel that I expected to be. It's... 'different' than the first season. But when you get to see what the other members of Libra (even the team's butler) are doing in their daily lives, should one even be complaining? In the end it was indeed as amazing and fun ride as the first season, even if lead protagonist Leonardo Watch took a back seat most of the season. I'm already crossing my fingers to see more adventure of the team. But it likely won't happen in the near future, huh? Bummer... - "Ballroom e Youkoso" was a peculiar dance. I thoroughly enjoyed the first half, but after Tatara changed partner things got... hectic and irritating to follow? It was still good, but a rather uneven show if you ask me for honest impression. At the very least, it wasn't a wasted opportunity like "Kabuki-bu!" was. - "Houseki no Kuni" was of similar situation. Its animation was gorgeous, story was peculiarly engaging, and world building was great. But there were episodes that were undeniably better than the rest, and I didn't quite like how it ended. I guess that finale was teasing for more seasons? Hmmm... - It's been years since I follow a Pretty Cure series, and "Kira Kira Precure A La Mode" wet my appetite and got me back to the game. Unfortunately, while the design was interesting, and the sweets angle was neat, the story was somewhat weak. I have lost my initial enthusiasm after the first half, but I still watch it because it's going to end pretty soon. Not quite expecting a mindblowing finale though, especially if the animation quality is any indication. A common problem of TOEI Animation. Remember "Sekaisuru KADO"? - Dang it, what an impressive year it has been with Super Sentai. "Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger" was kind of dull and boring last year, but had a great ending this year. And it was quickly followed by something even better. Yes, another show that has dragged me on a pleasant roller coaster ride is none other than TOEI's "Uchu Sentai Kyuranger". Since its premiere run on February, until its Christmas episode that wrapped up its 2017 run, I haven't been disappointed once with the series. Yes, I had an issue with the spin-off series of V-Cinema "Episode of Stinger", but that didn't count as the broadcast lineup. Though it's painful for me to soon say goodbye to this amazing season, I hope its last month will be memorable and a blast. Particularly because I'm currently having second thoughts about the 2018 season... - Just like its weekly storyline, "Kamen Rider Build" is still moving me back and forth. I'm honestly on the verge of dropping it completely, but I guess I'm going to check out several episodes from the next "Kamen Rider Wars" arc. I kind of feel it takes too long to get to this point when it could've been done earlier, but who am I to argue, right?
Name of the Game
- "Nintendo Switch" was a hit! Ever since its release on March 2017, the buzz and hype for this hybrid console only continue to increase. I wonder if I will be able to purchase one next year? Perhaps, just in time for the next Pokemon gen? - Speaking of Pokemon, the addition of Generation III from Hoenn region has made me go out and explore "Pokemon GO" again. The whole Raid Battle system and Niantic's handling of the Legendary Pokemon had disappointed so bad that I was close to give up on this App. Thankfully, now I have a horde of new reason to walk around the neighborhood. Problem is, can the same premise work in the long run? Niantic really need to consider new social features that enables players to engage with one another. - "Street Fighter V" had a weird set of DLC characters this year. The 2nd Season contained mostly new characters, that was a hit or miss with fans. Thankfully, things seem to be picking up next year with the Arcade Edition. Not just because my man Cody Travers is all dandy clean and returning to the game, of course. Question is, will I be able to play the game eventhough I don't have any plans to pick up a PS4? *giggles*. - I also haven't been able to play "Persona 5" due to the exact reason. LOL. Thankfully, "Persona 5 the Animation" has been announced to air next year. Sure, I'm a bit skeptical with the fact that A-1 Pictures and not Production I.G. will be doing the animation, but at least this will be my way of enjoying the game... WITHOUT actually playing it. - LEVEL-5 should do more of that worldwide Puzzle Quest! That was meant to be a prelude or some sort to "Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and The Millionaires' Conspiracy", but I think the game developer should learn by now that it could work as a stand alone project. It made people come together in surprising way, and attracted fans to come back everyday to check out the new worldwide puzzle. Real FUN!
Oookaaay, that went A LOT longer than I expected. And I'm 100% sure that there are items that completely slipped my mind. As of writing this line, it's only just a few hours before the year ends! Aaaaarggggh *grumble*. Gotta publish this one soon then!
With that said, 2017 has been a difficult and challenging year. Particularly to a very discriminative and straight-out evil political atmosphere. One that allowed people to show their true despicable nature and selfishly trampled others for it. Last year I did say that "There's so many reasons to be hopeful about 2017", but reality had spoken differently as it turned out there were plenty more to discourage us throughout the year. Many people have even lost their fate in humanity this year.
But you know what? I'm going to say the same thing this day as well. There are SOOO many reasons to be hopeful about 2018. I don't know if it's because I'm currently caught up in the holiday spirit, or because I've been feeling extra thankful and blessed this month. One thing I can openly attest, is that things DO GET BETTER. So don't ever lose hope, and keep fighting the good fight in the name of just and goodness. I'm being lazy right now, so I'm just going to copy and paste my own words from last year: "Life can sometimes be hard, but all we need to do is stay strong, stay high spirited, and more importantly, keep moving forward! Happiness and blessings will surely find its way, in ways you might not imagine!".
And also this next one... because I'm going to be saying more or less the same kind of statements anyway: "Thanks to those who have been reading my blog all year long. I know I haven't spent much time (or any) to address you one by one, and heck, I might not even know you're there. But please know that I'll always be grateful for your presence, your time, kindness, and more importantly patience to walk through my long and sometimes pointless ramblings. What you've been doing means a lot for me, and I hope what I've been posting has and will somehow benefit back to you in return.". 2017 ends in just a few hours away, so let's enter and stride through 2018 with a hopeful and brave heart, the biggest and earnest smiles, the most sincere love and compassion for others regardless of their religion, race, or skin color. More importantly, let's make 2018 a year that we can be proud of. Where we take a stand for what's right and good! Where we become better human being than we are this year!
SEE YOU TOMORROW IN 2018!!!

New Wolf Part 2
The Next Morning
I wake up to the noise of someone opening the front door. I get up slowly and stalk to the door only to see Sam coming in. I tilt my head and look a him confused. He notices me and pets my head lightly.
“I was doing patrol thats why I just walked in. It’s four in the morning, go back to sleep. “ He says to me before going upstairs. I walk back to where I slept and lie down to go back to sleep.
3rd Person
It’s now 9am and all the boys are at Emily’s, sitting at the table eating and watching the wolf.
“Do you think he’ll be able to phase back today?” Jacob asks, looking at Sam.
“Yeah, when I got back last night he looked perfectly fine. Bit of a limp but much better than yesterday.” Sam answers, causing the rest of the pack to nod.
“He’s so small.” Emily comments, leaning against the island.
“I don’t think he’s much older than ten. I mean Seth’s fifteen and he’s only slightly smaller than us. This kid is about half the size as Seth.” Jared says, leaning back in his chair.
“We’ll just have to be more careful with him when it comes to training and slowly work our way up. Like Jared said, he’s not much older than ten. But what are we gonna do with school? He won’t be in high school with us.” Paul explains, causing Sam to sigh and rub his face.
They suddenly hear a huff and look to see that the wolf had woken up. He sees Paul and instantly walks towards him, nuzzling into his knee.
“You ok bud?” Paul asks the wolf, getting a nod in response.
“Do you think you can phase back?” Sam asks the wolf, the wolf thinks for a bit and nods. Emily goes upstairs and gets a pair of shorts, handing them to the wolf.
Liam’s P.O.V
Once I have the shorts I run to the forest and try to focus my mind and energy on phasing. I slowly phase back and put the shorts on. I walk back to Emily’s slowly, nervous about what they might say. As I open the door all the talking stops and I’m greeted with silence.
“You alright kid?” Sam asks me, with a small nod of the head.
“Liam, my names Liam.” I reply to him, causing the pack to smile.
“Well, Liam. How old are you?” Sam asks with smile.
“12. I phased when I was about nine or ten. My pack was attacked by vampires, which is why I was running. My sister, she died trying to protect me. If she hadn’t I wouldn’t have gotten away. My parents died a few years ago, I had wondered to far and got attacked, I was lucky to get away alive.” I told them, each of them looked at me sadly.
“The leeches won’t get you any more. I promise.” Paul says, looking me in the eyes.
“Liam, you will be staying with Paul and his imprint, Rachel.” Sam informs me.
“Whats an imprint?” I ask, causing the pack to look surprised.

Coming Attractions - May 2019
Tumblr media
Five years ago today, here on the S&C, we presented for the first time a list of the movies what would be hitting your local cinemas that month. That initial list included The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Chef, Godzilla, and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Every month since then over the course of five years we have done the same rundown of movies coming soon and you have been there to read them all along the way. Thank you for that. We thought this was a special day to reflect on in the history of the S&C.
With that said, here are what movies are coming out this month:
May 3rd
Long Shot - Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron star as an odd-couple in this upcoming comedy, him an unemployed journalist and her a candidate for President of the United States. Long Shot premiered to great reviews at South by Southwest in March and I for one can’t wait to see it.
UglyDolls - Quick! Is UglyDolls an original film or one based on existing IP? Do you know the answer? I don’t. (Well I do now, cause I looked it up, but I didn’t know when I asked it.)
The Intruder - Meagan Good and Michael Ealy star in this thriller as a couple who buys a house from Dennis Quaid’s character, and he refuses to let go off his long-term home. The film hails from the same screenwriter as 2009′s Obsessed and 2008′s Lakeview Terrance, so audiences should know what they are getting into with The Intruder.
Extremely Wicked, Shocking Evil and Vile - If you are keeping score at home, it is now Ted Bundy: 1, Oxford Comma: 0. Zac Efron stars as the notorious serial killer in this new film coming to Netflix this month. Reviews of the film have been fairly solid since its premiere at Sundance earlier this year.
May 10th
Pokémon: Detective Pikachu - Though I have never been a fan of Pokémon in the least, Detective Pikachu looks to me like the film I wanted The Happytime Murders to be, a noir-ish fantasy mystery made in the same vein of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. And while I have no interest in the film, I do have an 8-year nephew who does.
The Hustle - Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson take the lead in this comedy film that is a remake of 1988′s Dirty Rotten Scoundrels starring Steve Martin and Michael Caine, which is itself a remake of 1964′s Bedtime Story starring Marlon Brando and David Niven. Still one remake shy of a full A Star is Born.
Poms - In this comedy, Diane Keaton starts a cheerleading squad at her retirement community and her friends played by Jacki Weaver, Pam Grier, and Rhea Perlman, join up!
Tolkien - Nicholas Hoult is J.R.R. Tolkien in this biography of the famous author. Like similar more recent works Finding Neverland, Goodbye Christopher Robin, Becoming Jane, and half of Saving Mr. Banks, audiences will surely seeing Tolkien’s future works come alive in his life experiences through his time as school and World War I.
May 17th
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum - John Wick is back for installment number 3. The John Wick film series has been a surprising revelation and it is always good to see Keanu Reeves back on the big screen. Prepare for war.
A Dog’s Journey - This is a sequel to 2017′s A Dog’s Purpose. Did you see that one? Oh, you didn’t. Then my job is done.
The Sun is Also A Star - It is a race against time for two young students hoping to fall in love before one of them is forced to leave with her family forever. My prediction? She is an alien.
May 24th
Aladdin - Disney’s 1992 beloved animated classic is back with a live action version directed by Guy Ritchie and starring Will Smith as the Genie. As a kid, I remember seeing Aladdin in theaters five times and it was a personal favorite. Unlike some of the recent and forthcoming Disney remakes, Aladdin doesn’t appear to be a scene-for-scene rehash of the original, which is extremely refreshing.
Brightburn - James Gunn produces this superhero horror film written by his cousins Mark and Brian Gunn. “Superhero horror” might be the best genre name imaginable. Essentially, Brightburn is a twist on the familiar Superman story - what if a child gave from space with amazing abilities and instead of trying to save us all, he tried to kill us all. Count me in!
Booksmart - Olivia Wilde makes her feature film directorial debut with the coming-of-age comedy in Booksmart. In the film, two smart good girls try to make four years worth bad dumb decisions over the course of the night before high school graduation. The film premiered at South by Southwest in March to fantastic reviews.
May 31st
Godzilla: King of the Monsters - On the surface, it is hard to tell how much of King of the Monsters is a sequel to 2014′s Godzilla and how much of it is set-up for 2020′s Godzilla vs. Kong as Legendary Entertainment continues to build their MonsterVerse. As much as I enjoyed Godzilla and 2017′s Kong: Skull Island, nothing about King of the Monsters is really exciting me at this point, which in itself is disappointing.
Rocketman - The music biopic craze continues with Rocketman starring Taron Egerton as Elton John. The film is directed by Dexter Fletcher, who you may or may not know as the guy who came in and finished directing Bohemian Rhapsody after Brian Singer was fired. Rocketman looks to be everything Bohemian Rhapsody wasn’t, including an actor who sings throughout the movie and a historically accurate portrayal of the musician's life and times. Fans of music who were disappointed by Bohemian Rhapsody should be eager to take a ride with Rocketman.
Ma - Octavia Spencer stars a lonely woman who befriends a group of mischievous teenagers only to viciously turn on them in this upcoming thriller from Blumhouse. Watch this one with the lights on.
Now for a quick look ahead to June, my top picks for next month are Dark Phoenix, Men in Black: International, and Toy Story 4.

Jack Hughes Is A Generational Talent Worth Tanking For.
NHL PROSPECT REPORT
Written: July 27, 2018
https://nhlprospectreport.com
One thing Americans do well these days is make great hockey players.
The USNDP (United States National Development Program) is easily one of the best, if not THE best program for kids trying to make it to the show. They have an excellent system which allows young prospects to work their way up the ranks to play against much older competitors which furthers their development. Many of the NHL's top players have come out of this program including Patrick Kane, Seth Jones, Zach Werenksi, John Gibson, Jack Eichel, Auston Matthews, Clayton Keller and Jacob Trouba just to name a few.
Jack Hughes' older brother Quinn Hughes was most recently the 7th overall pick of the Vancouver Canucks at this years draft. Both Quinn and Jack are unbelievable skaters, easily at the top of their class and both could compete in the NHL based on skating alone. Both Hughes brothers can make plays at top speed and have elite stickhandling and playmaking abilities.
These Hughes kids can definitely play in the "new-age" NHL. The main difference between the brothers is that Jack is a centre, a centre who's poised to be the undisputed number one pick in Vancouver at the 2019 NHL Draft.
Jack is not a big kid by any means, in fact he is quite short. Standing at only 5 foot 10 inches and 160 pounds he doesn't fit the typical build of a centre, however nobody cares how big you are when you put up 116 points in 60 games as a 16 year old, only one point shy of the record set by Auston Matthews who was one year older.
Austin Matthews is by far the best comparison to Jack in terms of ceiling and potential. However there are some subtle differences between them as well. Jack is a bit smaller, but he's also a better skater who dangles more. Some scouts go as far to compare Jack to Connor McDavid, however I think that's a bit of a stretch. Other scouts compare him to Patrick Kane in his draft year, but again I think this fails to capture who Jack really is.
What makes Jack so good is his ability to read the play. He makes plays at incredible speed all while making it look effortless. Furthermore he makes the players around him better; he had two excellent wingers in Farabee and Wahlstrom and he improved both of their draft stock immensely this season.
Jack could easily be the first player ever to make the jump from the US U-18 squad straight to the NHL, that is how good he is. However, the more likely route is he goes to the NCAA as a 17 year old. Mississauga still owns his rights if he decided to go the OHL route, but that is the least likely option.
What is obvious is Jack has nothing left to prove at the USHL level and whoever gets the first pick next year will be getting a generational talent whether he chooses the NCAA or tries to jump straight to the NHL. This kid is truly special, and while tanking doesn't guarantee you the first overall pick, I'll still take those odds at finishing last at 18.5%.
So what happens if you land pick #2 or #3? Well you're still in luck there's a few good centres poised to go in the top 5 in 2019. There's the speedy and skilled Alexander Newhook from Victoria in the BCHL, or the huge 6 foot 4 Kirby Dach who was #2 overall selection by Saskatoon Blades in the WHL Bantam Draft.
With plenty of bottom feeder teams needing a top centre, this is a good year to be bad... are you listening Senators, Canucks, Red Wings, Sabres and Islanders?
I once saw an interview with Mark Scheifele where he was in his apartment with a few friends just watching and talking hockey. Mark's passion for the game is obvious, he loves the sport so much he can never get enough and I believe it's this quality that helped launch him from a great hockey player to a generational one.
The Hughes brothers are no different, Jack and his brothers Quinn and Luke-- yes there's a 3rd even younger brother-- all have a passion for the game that is undervalued in today's NHL, a passion that cannot be taught.
Jack has the potential to be better then fellow American centre's Jack Eichel and Auston Matthews. Two players who are both considered generational talents for their respective teams.
While no prospect is a ever sure thing, this kid looks to be as good as it gets.
