Is the tweet about not needing no piece of paper from the city hall why larries think they are married? I'm so lost about it all because I thought I read somewhere that larries believe they got married in Australia but was gay marriage even legal there at the time?? Is that tweet actually about Haylor?
I am so glad you asked, I have posted about this in the Anniversary post, but it deserves it's own post. Grab a cup of tea I care too much about this date. Harry and Taylor treat it as an anniversary. It is likely 2012 they mark, but could be 2011:
2011 - Taylor had a show in Utah and Harry was not seen. He was in the US though, One Direction started filming Gotta be you in Upstate New York on the 29th. Prior to this, they had been in the same city a lot, a few signs they were interacting from Taylors concerts. This is however before their generally considered meeting.
2012 - Harry and Taylor were MIA, she filmed Begin Again MV in Paris on the 30th, Harry was seen in London on the 24th then disappears. Paris is frequently referred to in their songs and videos. If not 2011 this is the date they mark. They had been connected since the VMAs earlier in the month, so perhaps it was becoming more serious. Harry marked the occasion with his Love Banner Tattoo which is in the I Knew You Were Trouble and Kiss You Music Videos, now covered by the larger Swallow.
2013
This tweet is the first time we saw the date marked:
Tumblr media
On 2013 (US time) Harry tweeted these lyrics from My Old Man by one of Taylor's fav's, Joni Mitchell. At the time he was in Australia on tour with One Direction. One Direction had just returned from a break, where Harry & Taylor reunited at the VMAs, Harry was MIA while Taylor toured the US and Zayn got engaged. Having just had a break in countries with loved ones in countries with marriage equality any union would have happened in that break.
I think with Zayn's engagement on his mind, missing his girlfriend Harry posted this tweet on their anniversary. Harry spent the night gambling alone and Louis was sick as he lost his voice, presumably he was resting because they had shows. As you say, Australia's Marriage Equality Act was not until December 2017. Additionally at this time the boys were not having fun, they were chaperoned by police.
Confirmation bias.
As you note this tweet caused some confusion in Larries, mostly because a few days later Harry's mum congratulated the Xfactor host Louis on a judging decision and Ed Sheeran congratulated a different friend who got married close to then.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the years since:
2014 - 1D had a show in Charlotte, Taylor had a Secret Session in Nashville, generally 1989 Secret Sessioners talked about how much she loved the guy the album was about. They had just been MIA when both went from LA to London 2 weeks earlier. Promo for 1989 was underway and Rolling Stone Articles that led to Fools Gold were fresh.
2015 - Taylor was dating Calvin Harris. Harry talked to fans on stage about anniversary sign where the fan got married 5 years after their first kiss. Taylor also gave a pointed Clean speech in St Louis where she said "losing somebody that ... you thought you would be spending the rest of your life with. [...] the worst part about having your heart broken, or feeling betrayed, or losing someone, having somebody change their mind and walk away from you, is that it makes you regret those things you did in the beginning when you fell in love."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2016 - Harry released the Another Man Mixtape on the 29th, with 10 songs that reference the future HS1 or love, he was not seen for weeks. Taylor was seen with Cara in New York, Joe was in London.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2017 - Harry released Two Ghosts as a Spotify Single with a cover of Girl Crush. He also performed them in Nashville 2 days before. Taylor responded to Harry's 2016 Mix Tape with a 70 song "Taylor Loves" Spotify Playlist. Every 7 and 20 song had a link to Harry.
2018 - on 13 April Taylor responded to the Two Ghosts Spotify Single by releasing a Delicate Vertical Video and Spotify Single cover of September where Taylor changed the lyric to "do you remember the 28th Day of September". The original press release said "the month of September is especially meaningful to one of her relationships" and that was then edited out when fans got obsessed. On the 28 September Taylor played Wonderland as a Surprise Song on the Reputation Tour (one of 6 ever plays).
Toe-shippers then jumped on the bandwagon and they didn't mark it for years.
youtube
2021 - on 29 September and 1 October - Harry played Nashville in a white satin suit, when he played with his rings and performed To be So Lonely! Taylor had been in London for a wedding in September but was back in Nashville by the 1st. Harry also recorded Satellite this stop.
In 2023 - Harry was papped looking grumpy in London.

HELP IM BRIBED SO EASILY OK:
delicate - OHHHHHHHHHHH THIS SONG MAKES ME FEEL THINGS,,, WHENEVER ITS PLAYING I IMAGING THAT IM DANCING IN THE RAIN LIKE TAYLOR DOES IN THE MUSIC VIDEO
call it what you want - this one and delicate are actually joint first in my ranking for rep,, theyre just so wholesome and i love them so much theyre my babies omg
new years day - also soo whilesome and i love this as a simple closer for such a highly produced, chaotic album. it really does make you feel like youre cleaning up after a long day,, ALSO THE LYRICS 'PLEASE DONT EVER BECOME A STRANGER WHOS LAUGH I COULD RECOGNISE ANYWHERE' HURTS SO BAD BECAUSE JOE IS A STRANGER WHOS LAUGH SHE COULD RECOGNISE ANYWHERE NOW :(((((((((( ACTUALLY DEVESTATING.
dress - not so wholesome ! but best believe i will be singing this song LOUD,, also when she talks about joes buzz cut and her bleached hair its so funny because idk how either of them pulled eachother that night😭 they looked so silly (i <3 bleachella though in a campy way)
king of my heart - ok this ranking is so hard to do bc half of these songs are about how her and joe are gonna be together forever and in this one shes literally like 'is this the end of the endings' and then they ended. so...
getaway car - sorry this song is acrually so hilarious im so sorry tom hiddleston 😭 i do not condone cheating but the way taylor admits to it here?????????? so proudly????????????? girl😭😭😭😭😭😭 ohh and the bridge takes my soul to another DIMENSION I LOVEEEEE KEY CHANGES
look what you made me do - ok the thing about this song is that you cant understand it without undestanding the context, the comeback from a year of silence with the snakes used against her,, the music video (which is the best mv of all time btw,,,, ive been decoding it for years now) etc etc i could talk so long about it,, also the rep tour version of this >>>>>>>>> so good
...ready for it - ICONIC ALBUM OPENER ( I WAS NOT READY FOR IT !!!!! 2017 ME HAD NO IDEA !!!!!!!!!!!)
i dont wanna live forever - ok guys can we just talk about how taylor literally has a collaB WITH ZAYN MALIK. WHY ARENT WE TALKING ABOUT THIS SONG MORE. WHAT. i love both of their higher registers in their voices so sos so so much
so it goes... - underrated bop, taylor was so wrong for not playing it on the rep tour because 'you did a number on me, but honestly baby whos counting / i didnt know you were keeping count (lyric from high infidelity,, which is about calvin harris,, aka the last long relationship she had before joe) IS GOLD
this is why we cant have nice things - i love it when taylor talks to the people who wronged her like theyre children,, its so satisfying
dont blame me - this used to be higher up but ive heard it so many times now so its getting a little ruined😭but the OHHHH LORD SAVE ME MY DRUG IS MY BABY ILL BE USIN FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE (USIN FOR THE REST OF MY LIIFE OOOOOOOhoooOoooooooOOOOOOOOOO O HHHHH) will REMAIN ICONIC TILL THE END OF TIME
dancing with our hands tied - the lyrics are so good and this song feels super nostalgic because the production is very reminiscent of a lot of the songs you hear in 2017 ahhh
i did something bad - i love how she was saying this even though at that time she actuually hadnt done anything bad😭 but this was necessary for the snake character so slay queen🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍🐍 ohh also the dyuuuh dhu dhu dhu dhu dhu dhu IS SO ICONIC,, THE WAY SHE WOKE UP AT NIGHT WITH THAT IDEA AND RECORDED IT??? LMAO????????
end game - WHY DID SHE LET ED SHEERAN RAP LMAOOOOOO SOBBING,,, HE WOULD FIT ON LITERALLY ANY ALBUM BUT THIS ONE😭also this is another one of those depressing rep songs bc joe was NOT endgame
gorgeous - ok i didnt like this song for literal years,, i like it now but its still in the bottom half of my overall ts ranking,, however i DO love the lyric about her cats and the *ding* after

REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 18/11/2023 (Jack Harlow, Dua Lipa, Noah Kahan)
Content warning: Some language, brief sex references
Welp, we have two new songs debuting at #1 and #2 respectively on this week’s UK Singles Chart, which is pretty cool. Jack Harlow of all people snabs his first #1 with “Lovin’ on Me” and Dua Lipa trails right behind him at #2 with “Houdini”.

Rundown
Is it the last dying breath of 2023 or is 2024 just coming two months early? Either way, it’s a bit of a busy week to chalk through so let’s start as we always start: our notable dropouts, songs exiting the UK Top 75 - which is what I cover - after five weeks in the region or a peak in the top 40. This week, we bid adieu to a pretty large batch of songs, those being “ecstacy” by SUICIDAL-IDOL, “get him back!” by Olivia Rodrigo, “Back on 74” by Jungle, “City Boys” by Burna Boy, “Rush” by Troye Sivan, “fukumean” by Gunna, “Good Love” by Hannah Laing and RoRo, “Giving Me” by Jazzy, “Miracle” by Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding, and “Bad Habits” by Ed Sheeran - it’s a mixed bunch quality wise but these are, bar “Bad Habits”, some of the biggest and most interesting hit songs of 2023 all very quickly gone thanks to our invasion of new arrivals companioned with Christmas songs. Oh yeah, we should get to those, shouldn’t we?
Well, none are in the top 10 yet - “Last Christmas” is the highest at #26 - but entering the top 75 for the first time this year round are “Santa Tell Me” by Ariana Grande at #71, “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas” by Michael Bublé at #68 and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” by Brenda Lee at #65 - I could see that one having a particularly good year. As for the rest of our notable gains and returns, well, there’s not many, but we do see Lana Del Rey’s “Say Yes to Heaven” back at #64 and Chris Brown’s album help “Sensational” featuring Davido and Lojay peak at #45 - more on him later - and outside of the new songs, that’s pretty much it. Thankfully, we have a particularly interesting top five to sift through.
This week, our top five starts off pretty standard though there is a great deal of movement over here already, with “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan up at #5. Then we have the expected - “greedy” by Tate McRae at #4 and “Prada” by casso, RAYE and D-Block Europe at #3 - and then of course the two new leaders at the very front. Before we get to Dua Lipa and Mr. More than a Feature, however, we have a LOT to get through - like a whole damn back catalogue, really - so let’s run through all 11 of them.
NEW ARRIVALS
#73 - “Nightmares” - Chris Brown featuring Byron Messia
Produced by Chopstix and Chris Brown
It is pretty telling that a lot of the traction for this new Chris Brown album comes from collaborations with other artists, many of whom are lesser known than he is, but I don’t like to waste much breath on this guy and his album that debuted at #11 this week - fitting for an album named 11:11 - so I’ll try and be brief. Chris Brown’s Auto-Tuned false Patois does not fit this more minimal, arguably chalky dancehall vibe at all, even if this is closer to Afrobeats to anything. He just sounds so desperate and false here, which may not have anything to do with genre choice and more just over-selling content that is pretty murky and violent, deserving more of the Byron Messia treatment, though even he is over-doing it a bit, though he of course much more easily catches a rhythm here. The content isn’t bad at least, and the beat, whilst there’s not much to it, is well-produced enough, and also partly self-produced so there’s some merit there.
#60 - “Evergreen” - Ritchy Mitch & the Coal Miners
Produced by Nicolas Haughn
Ritchy Mitch & the Coal Miners are an American indie folk group and this song’s from 2017. Also, TikTok is a social media application used to post short video clips with accompanying sounds or music. Now that we’ve established what it is and why it’s charting, is the viral sleeper hit any good this time around? Well, it’s barely a song, standing as a pretty abstract one-and-a-half-minutes, but there is a lot to like in those low harmonies, the slightly muddy cackling of acoustics where the percussion sounds terrible and that just helps the campfire song aesthetic of it all, and especially the confused set of lyrics, with the guy just being lost and that’s pretty much all that’s sure: he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place, he’s anxious about it, but anything more is speculation because there’s not much to the song lyrically, or at all, and that’s honestly completely fine with me. For the one minute it sits in, it’s pretty compelling and that first time the drums come in is a pretty great wham moment so can’t really complain. Sure, I’d prefer… maybe something to keep it going, but it’s not like it can overstay its welcome. Welcome to the charts, coal miners. I’m pretty sure that’s what J. Cole’s fanbase are called.
#51 - “When We Were Young (The Logical Song)” - David Guetta and Kim Petras
Produced by David Guetta and T.I Jakke
The story of this song starts all the way back in 1979, with progressive pop band Supertramp’s “The Logical Song”. One of their most highly-acclaimed songs, it peaked at #7 - Art Garfunkel’s “Bright Eyes” was #1 - and has enjoyed a lot of retrospective acclaim, even if not being that recognised in its original version, oddly enough like Supertramp’s other hit from that album, “Breakfast in America”, which you may know better as Gym Class Heroes’ “Cupid’s Chokehold”. Anyway, “The Logical Song” is a brilliantly composed track with a lot of pop and some fantastic lyrics about conforming, a song that shows a man desperate for an identity. Also, it has a saxophone solo so it’s immediately a great song. Roger Hodgson based the lyrics off of his experience in boarding school, and for a pop track with such zest, it also conveys a lot of frustration and bursts of energy. So naturally, it needs a happy hardcore remix from German trance outfit Scooter… and I may even like it more. For whatever reason, this German version of a London band’s song became an anthem in Glasgow, and deserves to, because even if the sample may be cheap and obvious, they evolve this song into some bizarre night out at a rave club, with H.P. Baxxter yelling complete nonsense in the interim between the randomly-placed Supertramp hook. Oh, and putting the Amen break behind the original hook is kind of genius. The song peaked at #2 in 2002, kept off the top by yet another remix, that being “A Little Less Conversation” by Elvis and JXL. Whilst very different, both of these versions of the song I would describe as being incredibly human and nuanced. So you know who needs to get their grubby mits on it? David Guetta and Kim Petras, of course. I feel like I don’t need to tell you what they do with this one, it’s got the Eurodance pianos and the typical trance kicks but nothing over-the-top enough to justify the chill-out pianos that sound ripped straight off of Robert Miles or the pitch-shifted hook. I’m sure for some people the lyrics mean more or gain another layer of resonance coming from a trans woman; I could fully see that interpretation. Musically, though, it’s uninspired, and missing the vast majority of the character that both versions had. Bring Baxxter back on the charts, man.
#44 - “LALALALA” - Stray Kids
Produced by Bang Chan (3RACHA), VERSACHOI and Cubeatz
So… this is Stray Kids, a K-pop boy band, and this is from their new album… and this is the kind of K-pop I remember from the 2010s. We have the blending of unrelated genres mashed together into barely-sequenced, chaotic songs with a lot of try-hard rapping and Auto-Tune, stopped in their tracks by random, English-infused melodic pivots, and an overall sound that’ll be dated within five years. I don’t know what to make of this though because, well, it’s done kind of gracefully. The boys can flow pretty well over this mix of Jersey club rhythm, drift-phonk cowbells and drill-esque flowing sub-bass, and the pre-drop leading into the drop is so cinematic it kind of works for me, especially considering the sheer level of… sound quantity in that drop, all of which just blends into a muddy pile of monogenre “cool pop music sounds”. The trap breakdown from Cubeatz is surprisingly smooth too, and the fake-out bridge leading into the final chorus is… actually kind of hype. I didn’t think I’d be into this, and I’m not entirely sure that I fully am, but this has me… compelled. There’s also a “rock version” which goes way harder than it should, that pre-chorus is perfect for that kind of sound and the phonk elements translate surprisingly well into electric guitar. So yeah, shout-out these guys, I suppose. Whoda thunk?
#41 - “Angel Numbers / Ten Toes” - Chris Brown
Produced by Hitmaka, Haze, DSTRK, RoccStar, Troy Taylor, LNKmusic, Slim Pharaoh, Zuus, Ebby and JuanRa
So this is the opening track to that Chris Brown album and is essentially two songs put together, hence why it has 10 Goddamn producers. The first half, “Angel Numbers”, is a glorified intro with a cheap acoustic guitar loop and your typically Auto-Tune-drenched performance from Breezy here, including inappropriately upbeat ad-libs as he tries to heal himself, but a whole lot of that self-improvement and “healing” comes mostly from this girl because of course it does. I will admit that the panning static and synth blend that transitions the two tracks is pretty smooth, which I’d argue it has to be when you have the budget of 10 producers, even if the end goal beat of “Ten Toes” isn’t all that different, just with a murkier mix and Rod Wave-esque basic trap percussion. You know you’re UK chart-brained when you can start hearing D-Block Europe in songs, but come on, this beat isn’t that far off, right? As for Breezy on here, the content isn’t awful, even if it’s drowned in clichés, but it’s also not special and I am not really interested in hearing bragging from Chris Brown. That “anxiety” refrain is very catchy, however, and his slightly raspy, powerful delivery on it does resonate pretty well, even if some of the ad-libbed harmonies are over-the-top, but that’s as to be expected with him. It’s really not terrible, but the standard - especially for a song professing to have as many layers as this one appears to - should be higher.
#27 - “Selecta” - Chase & Status featuring Stefflon Don
Produced by Chase & Status
So Chase & Status released an album, 2 RUFF, Vol. 1, and perhaps expectedly due to their surprisingly big run recently, it debuted at #4 on this week’s albums chart. I haven’t heard it yet but have had mostly mixed opinions on the singles, and whilst Stefflon Don isn’t exactly someone who’d convince me on a track, I was slightly interested to see what was going on here and it’s… functional, barely. I like the focus on atmosphere that Chase & Status typically use as their main approach, but the electric guitars - and Stefflon Don’s badly-mixed vocal take - are very compressed, overly so, and it prevents the atmospheric intro from really translating into the verses. I know the guitar is sampled from Ashanti’s “Only U” - as is much of the rhythm and percussion - but it doesn’t particularly work in that ugly slog of a song either. Sure, it peaked at #2 in 2005 - behind, again for a bizarre 2000s moment, Elvis Presley - but it’s one of those 2000s R&B tracks that always came off as more creepy than sexy as intended, which I guess is not the worst fit for this kind of intensity in the Chase & Status version. I do think the chorus goes relatively hard, and the switch into double-time breakbeats is fun! I just wish there was more of a song here, I guess. I’m usually really easy to win over with drum and bass, especially with this which is semi-ragga jungle influenced and should be a slam dunk for me, but a lot of distorted energy from Stefflon Don isn’t enough to make this feel a bit malformed of a track. Hell, maybe it would have gone harder without being drum and bass at all.
#20 - “Nice to meet you” - PinkPantheress featuring Central Cee
Produced by Cash Cobain, PinkPantheress and Count Baldor
I really did love that new PinkPantheress album, Heaven knows, and it’s a shame we only get one song from the record debuting, especially since 1.) the album only debuted at #28 on the albums chart, which is a real shame, and 2.) this is probably my least favourite song on the entire album, and not actually because of Central Cee. In fact, quite the opposite. Now for the record, I still like the song, it’s got the bouncy drum and bass groove you’d expect and the detailed synthscape of a production that feels miniature in sound but ultimately massive in scope. I did say my thoughts on the album on RateYourMusic so won’t elaborate much here, but she really did expand her songwriting abilities here on this record. This song is the worst example, where much of the chorus relies on a drop into a frankly kind of unpleasant and dull extended syllable, and her one verse is pretty generic for her standards, as well as having a quite staccato delivery that’s somewhat disappointing. Then midway through, Cench comes in and just kind of takes the song for his own. We get some cute strings before he comes in and they serve as the foundation for the beat in his part, with Cench delivering a lot of detail, some cute little flows, much of what you’d expect from him, and whilst he’s not mixed well, he rides it fine, and the transition into a drill rhythm is well done… but after Cench’s verse ends, the song just kind of gives up, with some minimal backing vocals echoing off of a coating of synths and the remainer of the drums but that really is all it is by the end, and I don’t exactly know why that decision was made, it just renders the song incomplete for me. It is still a good song - it’s catchy, the production is intricate and ultimately there’s a lot of fun to be had here, with even some cute moments of chemistry between the two - but it’s far from great… like you know, the rest of that album.
#18 - “Murdaside” - Mazza_l20 and Pistol Po
Produced by JxmieMusic and TylianMTB
I feel like these guys wouldn’t be offended by me saying they are complete and utter nobodies who probably shouldn’t be charting this high, because it is just the truth,  but they have the streams to back it up, and I can tell why. Sure, the vocal mixing is clearly amateur, the two don’t have great delivery, and the Merseyside accent is kind of funny, but the flow is solid and they go for an intense, very bass-heavy horrorcore kind of feel mixing elements of that 2000s 50 Cent-esque sound people like Digga D have tried to revive with more subtle trap skitters and drill percs, and it’s quite interesting. I don’t like Pistol Po here, mostly because I can’t 100% tell if he’s joking or not with his downbeat delivery and repetition of the “29” line, which seems almost like he’s setting up a sketch, but otherwise, it’s a decent little homemade song. And for the actual reason it’s charting, Aitch and Potter Payper have verses on the remix, which is pretty good. Sure, I could do without Aitch trying his best to be menacing, when he can’t ever pull that off, and it would be cool if Mazza had re-recorded his vocals to fit better with the more high-budget guest features, but Potter Payper - even when censored - sounds excellent on this production, mostly because he actually has some natural violence and venom to him. He also replaces the mediocre Pistol Po so I can’t complain. There are also four other remixes, the “ScouseMix” with Aystar, who’s pretty boring, a “BrumMix” with Birmingham rapper RM, who barely has enough time to make an impression, and then other remixes with Loski, whose recording is worse quality than Mazza, and SJ, who goes pretty effortlessly hard. In fact, since that version also gets rid of Pistol Po, it’s probably my favourite because it’s the coldest of them all, even if there’s only just one verse of difference across most versions. Either version you listen to, it’s oddly hypnotic, and really, listening to all these versions has kind of convinced me that the foundation of it is actually brilliant. I don’t know if this is more than a novelty, but I wonder how much staying power it’ll have.
#16 - “Northern Attitude” - Noah Kahan
Produced by Gabe Simon and Noah Kahan
Okay, he’s convinced me. Mostly because of the lyrics. I like the picked bluegrass rumble in that acoustic flitter, and Kahan is far from as nasal as he has been on past tracks I’ve heard from him, in fact giving a quite frail falsetto delivery at times that’s pretty heart-breaking, and that sudden development into a stomp-rock belter is pulled off surprisingly well. The lyrics though are what I like the most - in functions in a similar vein to “The Logical Song” in that it’s about the struggles of finding identity in adulthood, but instead of that coming from a more naive perspective, Kahan’s kind of talking down here, perhaps condescendingly, to someone who had all that and lost it, not through wrong-doing but through pure complacency and just lack of change, has led to a depressing, routine life that Kahan’s going to blame on the fact he was brought up in “cold” New England. It’s a middle-life crisis song, essentially, but with a bitter, pissy perspective that is pretty much only there because of the chosen second-person tense of the song. It’s fascinating, it reminds me almost of Toby Keith’s “How Do You Like Me Now?!”, except withb the history of Kahan’s relationship with this person being much less clear. The change of tense to Kahan speaking as if this person was himself I think doesn’t show this magical twist that the person is him after all, what it makes me speculate is that our narrator knows this eventually WILL be him, and that’s why that “Northern Attitude” is so relevant. He’s seeing this happen to the people who raised him, and that’s why he’s so bitter about it: he’s eventually going to be just as cold and broken as them. This is a fantastic song, it’s not charting purely because of that as there is a duet version with Hozier that doesn’t really change the song in any substantial way other than have Hozier sing parts of it solo and in harmony with Kahan. It’s not a better mix or anything, it’s just the song with Hozier now, there are no substantial lyric additions or changes, and Hozier adds little more perspective since there are already two characters in the song, and Hozier’s delivery is honestly kind of awkward. I like Hozier fine, but I much prefer the solo version in this case. Still, can’t really do much wrong with this good of a composition and set of lyrics.
#2 - “Houdini” - Dua Lipa
Produced by Kevin Parker and Danny L Harle
I don’t even need to say much here to introduce this, right? Danny L Harle, Tame Impala, Dua Lipa - I’m on board, let’s go. It’s got a solidly atmospheric intro in that it cuts to the chase immediately into an undeniable rumble of a synth-funk groove, especially with those “Billie Jean”-esque lead synths. The kind of static, acid-y synths feel oddly dry, in that they’ve dried for too long and Dua and co. are struggling to pick everything back up from the fence it dried on. Meanwhile, Dua “comes and goes” - the double meaning isn’t hard - and just wants some in-the-moment love, having gained a reputation for being a bit of a “Houdini”. The character is careless, not desperate for this guy but almost menacing, like she’s on his mind at all times. There’s a hot-and-heavy intensity to this, especially with how the bass In the left channel kind of clashes with the tighter synths, it’s actually a really odd-feeling mix sometimes. I wish there was more to the bridge than just Tame Impala playing with some keys, maybe a really bass-heavy moment, but I understand why they don’t do that - the song needs to be ephemeral to an extent and the bridge slides very well into the final chorus. This is pretty obviously great, maybe not excellent, but it does have me very excited for what’s coming next, even if it doesn’t fully exceed what expectations I had for this.
#1 - “Lovin’ on Me” - Jack Harlow
Produced by OZ, Nik D and Sean Momberger
Now what expectations did I have for this? None, and it still sucks ass. Jack Harlow “proving he can rap” after a lot of fans jumped ship due to the lazy pop pivot of Come Home the Kids Miss You by dropping a fleeting, not-nearly-as-interesting-as-he-thinks-it-is conscious tape and then returning back to what got him the #1 when he realised that chasing credibility matters much less to him than bank statements - it is just the natural progression, but the fact that it worked, and so extraordinarily well, is what surprises me, Hell, even saddens me. At least in the hook of “First Class” there was some fun wordplay and a call-and-response to be had, though to be fair, he’s not charting a hit song, instead the groovy obscurity “Whatever” by Cadillac Dale, which is honestly a bit of a bizarre find for his producers, I commend them on finding such a catchy hook that feels like it’s straight from, I don’t know, Ginuwine, in a random new jack swing song that I couldn’t find on most streaming services. With that said, it’s just a loop. A catchy loop, but a loop, a mindless, hypnotic loop that gets real tired really damn fast. It plays under factorial hyphy beats, and Harlow doesn’t learn the lesson from “First Class” as he gives up trying to write an actual chorus in the second half and just does a deadpan harmony of the sample. He’s saying so little in the verses, and what he does say is about as charming as the Shrek character he references with his staccato flow. This is mind-numbing, why is he spelling words all the time? Why is he whispering? Wake up, Jackman! I know this is supposed to be dumb fun, but hey, you can’t use that defence when it’s clear that no-one on this song is having that. At least I got one laugh out of him starting the hook of the song just stating unabashedly that he is white and boring to have sex with. I don’t think he needed to say it, exactly, the song already gave that impression and then some.
Conclusion
Yes, of course, Jack Harlow easily snabs Worst of the Week for “Lovin’ on Me” and bizarrely enough, Chris Brown dodges the Dishonourable Mention. That’s going to “When We Were Young (The Logical Song)” by David Guetta and Kim Petras. As for the best, it’s much trickier because for a busy week, it was also quite a positive one and Noah Kahan probably has the Best of the Week locked with “Northern Attitude”, though Dua Lipa, much like she is on the actual chart, trails close behind with “Houdini” as the Honourable Mention. As for what’s on the horizon, I don’t know, Santa Claus and Drake. Thank you for reading and I’ll see you next week!

hey Sea, the problem with being a new louis fan i dont know if you have spoken about this, but listening to walls, i love that i can hear his accent all throughout, in regards to one song, he sings about not seeing someone for two years. would that be harry. wasnt in 1d fandom but i wasnt under a rock so i know the bases of larry fandom. hahah. but your a louie
Louis broke up with Eleanor in February 2015, and got back together with her in January 2017. So if you were a casual fan, the most logical conclusion from the Too Young lyrics is that it’s about Eleanor.
I don’t know of any accurate songwriting timeline for Too Young. It was co-written with Johnny Yukon, who worked with BURNS in 2018. BURNS produced Louis’ Just Like You and Always You, songs written late 2016-early 2017.
In this post, Sterre postulated that Louis met Matthew Burns (the producer BURNS) in 2015 at the Billboard Music Awards afterparty hosted by Taylor Swift/ Ed Sheeran/ Calvin Harris (19 May 2015):
Tumblr media
The post talks in more detail about the connections. BURNS and Harris are both managed by TSZ’s Mark Gillespie, and BURNS worked on Just Like You with Louis and Jess Thomas in late 2016.
In the Track by Track, Louis talks about the concept of the song, describing meeting “the girl you’re going to spend your life with” at “age 18.” He says the song was written quickly, but the “producer was meticulous” and they “spent all day” on it.
My guess is this song was written in 2017 (anywhere from early to late 2017), and it’s meant to be about Eleanor.

Top 10 Personal Favorite Hit Songs from 2017
Tumblr media
Not a very good year for hit songs. Still better than the next one, though.
And a very satisfying #1 that launched an entire infodump about a specific band. I’m not even sorry.
Disclaimers:
Keep in mind I’m using both the year-end top 100 lists from the US and from France while making these top 10 things. There’s songs in English that charted in my country way higher than they did in their home countries, or even earlier or later, so that might get surprising at times.
Of course there will be stuff in French. We suck. I know. It’s my list. Deal with it.
My musical tastes have always been terrible and I’m not a critic, just a listener and an idiot.
I have sound to color synesthesia which justifies nothing but might explain why I have trouble describing some songs in other terms than visual ones.
2017 might not sound super distant, but it’s already distant enough to analyse what started to happen to me that year with some clarity. This is when I started to lose some of my energy and motivation. A lot, in fact. Everything suddenly felt exhausting and this whole “what’s even the point of anything” mentality started to fall on my shoulders. And you know what, at first, while making these recaps, I had no idea what started it all. Was it that super rare infection I caught in early 2018 and almost made me lose a part of a finger? Was it both my grandfathers dying in mid 2018? Was it the general state of the world? But no, I did some digging and noticed this general exhaustion actually started right during summer 2017 and I was like what the f█ck happened in summer 2017? That summer was fine?
And then it clicked. I know exactly what kickstarted my spiral into about 18 months of depression, and it’s got nothing to do with health or family. It’s something that shouldn’t have affected my life in any way, and that I kinda tried to ignore at the time, and some of you might even find me overdramatic or cringy for letting it affect my life. But yeah, as I’ve realised while making these lists, Linkin Park was actually a super important part of my life, so it makes perfect sense: what started it all was Chester Bennington killing himself. Clearly, someone who had contributed so much to convince me that life was worth living and who suddenly decided it wasn’t worth it, that had a huge impact on me, whether I wanted it or not.
Aaaand now I’m crying again. Great.
Anyway. Uh. Important albums that year! Yeah so uh. Depeche Mode made Spirit and it wasn’t good, and so I kinda lost faith they would ever make a great album again, but I did realise one of my teenage dreams and saw them in concert in the Stade de France in July 2017 (it was huge. Going home after that felt like waking up from some sort of hypnotic trance. They even played Walking In My Shoes, one of my absolute favorite songs from them, along with a video featuring a trans person going to work and I started to bawl my eyes out in the middle of the f█cking crowd). Nine Inch Nails also made Add Violence and continued to be super good, and Indochine made 13, and while it wasn’t nearly as good as Black City Parade, it was also better than La République des Météors, so I was pretty happy about that. EDIT: Forgot about Under Your Spell by The Birthday Massacre, which blew my goddamn mind, but still not as much as the next album I'm gonna talk about.
But the defining album of the year, to me, was Mike Oldfield making a sequel to my favorite album from him, with Return to Ommadawn. Of course it’s not as good as Ommadawn. But still. If Ommadawn felt like discovering a new strange country full of weird folklore and forests and mysterious buildings, Return to Ommadawn feels like going back there half a century later and seeing things in ruins and wounded people, but still trying to seek beauty and joy in a partly destroyed landscape. It makes perfect sense considering the circumstances that surround the making of this thing, and it was the only way to make a good sequel to such a legendary album.
Tumblr media
Unelligible songs that piss me off... uh, actually there’s only Cut to the Feeling by Carly Rae Jepsen. Why wasn’t it a huge hit. Come to think of it, why hasn’t any Carly Rae song been a huge hit since Good Times. This feels unfair.
Time for some honorable mentions, then.
Feels and also Slide (Calvin Harris and a lot of other people) - Got nothing to say about either of these songs, but they’re both pretty good.
Katchi (Ofenbach) - Nice little earworm.
No Roots (Alice Merton) - Super surprised this was a hit. Good.
OK (Robin Schulz ft James Blunt) - That’s a James Blunt song in the year of our lord 2017 and it sounds actually good??
What About Us (Pink) - Really caught my attention and made me wonder if I should listen to Pink again after a long streak of mediocre Pink songs.
Congratulations (Post Malone) - I find the song mostly boring but the guest verse ending with “uh, Malone... I gotta play on my phone...” is the stuff of legends and that got a chuckle out of me every time I heard it.
Glorious (Macklemore) - I’m glad this was a hit here but at the same time it’s not my favorite song from him. The music video is adorable, though.
Fly (Odyssey) - Nothing to say about that one.
XO Tour Life (Lil Uzi Vert) - The fact that I was regularly humming this is either a sign of quality or yet another sign I was depressed as shit.
Devil in Me (Purple Disco Machine) - What a great artist name.
Symphony (Clean Bandit) - Nothing to say here either, just good sound all around.
Attention (Charlie Puth) - 2017: The Year Charlie Puth Made A Great Song.
All Stars (Martin Solveig & Alma) - The last cut. It was on the list at some point. I really like it a lot, though.
And now, the list. The stuff I genuinely love starts at #6 and things that are still on my mp3 player to this day start at #4.
10 - Chained to the Rhythm (Katy Perry)
US: #73 / FR: #10
Tumblr media
I just love the concept of a Katy Perry song about how Katy Perry songs are happy nonsense distracting you from actual issues. What can I say, I’m a sucker for meta stuff.
9 - Water Under The Bridge (Adele)
US: #88 / FR: Not on the list
Tumblr media
An Adele song projecting actual positive energy!? That automatically goes on the list.
8 - Praying (Kesha)
US: #67 / FR: Not on the list
Tumblr media
You know I mostly dislike slow emotional songs regardless of how good they actually are. I will, however, make an exception for this one even though I very rarely listen to it considering how emotionally taxing it is. That’s definitely a fantastic song, though.
7 - Viens On S’aime (Slimane)
US: Not on the list / FR: #53
Tumblr media
“Listen, we love each other, f█ck it, f█ck their words and their decorum, listen, we love each other, f█ck it, f█ck their ideas and what they’re saying”. Well said, dude, well said.
6 - There’s Nothing Holding Me Back (Shawn Mendes)
US: #23 / FR: #91
Tumblr media
That’s a very good song for running and that is becoming increasingly rarer, so I’ll take what I can get.
5 - Paris (The Chainsmokers)
US: #42 / FR: Not on the list (that’s irony for you)
Tumblr media
Unlike Closer this is an unrelatable song about rich young people that can afford to live in Paris just “to get away from [their] parents” but honestly that’s the only negative thing I have to say against it. It sounds fantastic.
4 - Castle On The Hill (Ed Sheeran)
US: #40 / FR: #50
Tumblr media
We’ve now entered the realm of songs that are still on my mp3 player to this day. This is the only Ed Sheeran song I’ve ever liked, and I love it. It sounds like a lost U2 song. Maybe from a strange dimension where U2 became more fragile and emotional instead of more pretentious.
I have no idea why this guy keeps making such boring stuff when he’s got that kind of song in him. I have no clue.
3 - Something Just Like This (Coldplay & The Chainsmokers)
US: #5 / FR: #19
Tumblr media
Hey so Coldplay is still on my lists, apparently. It’s a bit too slow, some lyrics about superheros don’t make much sense, and the drop isn’t super good, but my god, that guitar near the end makes everything worth it. Just amazing colors and textures all around.
It’s not even my favorite song on that EP! I think Miracles (Someone Special) is even better, but eh, this one is a close second.
2 - 24k Magic (Bruno Mars)
US: #16 / FR: Not on the list (#13 in 2016 but I put it on the 2017 list instead)
Tumblr media
Am I the only one to like this more than Uptown Funk? It’s so much fun to sing along to it. And unlike Uptown Funk, it’s making me feel nostalgic for an era I actually (vaguely) knew, the super colorful and ridiculous early 90s. My s.o loves it too and when it comes up on the radio or on our playlists you can bet we’re both going PUT YOUR. PINKY. RINGS UP. TO THE. MOOOOOOOON like two idiots.
This is the song I could have put on the previous list but elected to put on this list instead since it was elligible for both years, by the way! Since 2017 was less good than 2016, I thought it would be more interesting to save such a great song for later.
It would have topped the list too, if it wasn’t for something I didn’t expect to be elligible before reading the French year-end list.
Strap yourselves in, because I had no real opportunity to talk about this band at length in the posts made for the years when it was the most relevant in my life, so this is going to be quite long.
1 - La Vie Est Belle (Indochine)
US: Not on the list / FR: #44
Tumblr media
As you already know if you remember some of my previous lists, Indochine is a band I started to love right in the middle of the absolute worst years of my life. These guys had been around since the 80s as a super successful new wave band, then became very unpopular and went underground for about twelve years in the entire 90s, then one of them died, then every member except the singer basically rotated, and then they suddenly re-emerged in 2002-2003 with Paradize, a monster of an album, full of energy, sinister themes and weird provocative songs, and an entire generation of angsty teenagers (me included as you can guess) embraced it wholeheartedly.
And all of a sudden Indochine was the favorite French mainstream band of local young punk/goths! So many kids with the Indochine logo in highschool. Nowadays the band is mocked and well-loved in equal doses by just about everyone, but I suspect it’s just because we’ve all grown up.
Placebo, Linkin Park and Indochine were the bands that ruled my entire world in 2003/2004. My mother hated all three of them, because of course she did, but especially Indochine, because according to her it was partly their fault if I was gender non-conforming. See, she used to say, they had put all kinds of bad ideas in my head and now I was all messed up.
...Holy shit, that’s a lot of blame to put on a ridiculous new wave band who’s first hit song from 1983 is just a long nonsensical list of shitty old Bob Morane pulp novels.
Tumblr media
But here’s the problem. Even if Indochine kept having hit song after hit song, those were never the best songs on their albums. Here I am, 31, making these top ten lists since last December, and becoming more and more frustrated to see none of my favorite modern Indochine songs are elligible. My favorite Paradize singles were Mao Boy, Popstitute and especially Marilyn (god, this song rocked my entire year alongside Placebo’s The Bitter End. 2003 was such a fantastic year for dark energetic hit songs)? Too bad, the biggest hits were J’ai demandé à la lune and Le Grand Secret. Alice & June had four fantastic singles? Too bad, none of them is elligible! Same thing for the entirety of Black City Parade. Oh, but that song I hate from La Republique des Météors is elligible, I guess!
So we’re in summer 2017, and my life is completely different now, and Indochine releases La Vie Est Belle (I’m linking the album version and not the music video because it has some violent themes in it). I’m in my car doing some errands and the local radio goes “hey new song from Indochine” and I’m like “oh shit, gotta hear this” and then two minutes later “oh wow, that is super good. Won’t be a hit though”.
And yet, it was a hit! It became huge, even! And at that point I was already loving that song even though I thought it was just a super good but tragic love song about a significant other dying too young.
And then, about a month later, the wordplay of the first line finally hit me with the force of a semitruck. It’s not a love song. It’s a song about the singer’s dead twin. Who died in 1999.
It’s such a devastating, beautiful song, and yet it’s full of energy. I. adore. it. It’s exactly the kind of song you need to continue to fight and to live and to help other people in this day and age. “Life is beautiful and cruel, it looks like us sometimes” indeed. And it’s one of the best on the album, too!
So yes, 15 years after I first fell in love with this band and after they helped me during super dark times, finally, I can put one of their songs at the top of one of these lists, hands down, no debate whatsoever.
That probably sounds ridiculous but it’s genuinely making me feel extremely emotional.
Next up: I thought music sucked that year because I was depressed but I relistened to it and no it wasn’t just me

REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 04/02/2022 (KSI, The Kid LAROI, Sam Smith/Calvin Harris)
“Flowers” by Miley Cyrus tops the UK Singles Chart for the third week in a row, and it’s kind of a slow one but welcome back to REVIEWING THE CHARTS!
Tumblr media
Rundown
As always, we start with the notable dropouts, and other than some recent entries, there aren’t that many, given that notable dropouts are songs exiting the UK Top 75 – which is what I cover – after five weeks in the region or a peak in the top 40. We say farewell to “Nobody Gets Me” by SZA – thanks to the three-song rule, which will pop up later, as well as “Lift Me Up” by Rihanna, “Ghost of You” by Mimi Webb and “Bad Habit” by Steve Lacy.
What’s filling up the gaps then? Well, we see some bizarre returns for “METAMORPHOSIS” by INTERWORLD at #71 and thanks to... a Fortnite event, “STAY” by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber is back once again at #37 after peaking at #2 in 2021, because... sure, I guess. More LAROI later on. As for our notable gains, we see “Just Wanna Rock” by Lil Uzi Vert at #51, “ceilings” by Lizzy McAlpine at #50 (looking good), “Shut up My Moms Calling” by Hotel Ugly at #47 (not anymore), “Here with Me” by d4vd at #51, “Never Not Gonna Dance Again” by P!nk at #40 (again, more on her later: it’s the week of the residuals), “The Color Violet” by Tory Lanez at #36, “Ready to Fly” by Sub Focus and Dimension at #35, “Lavender Haze” by Taylor Swift at #32 thanks to the video, and sadly, “Players” by Coi Leray at #19.
Welp, that was quick. Our top five once again consists of “messy in heaven” by venbee and goddard. at #5, “Anti-Hero” by Taylor Swift at #4, “Kill Bill” by SZA at #3, “Escapism.” by RAYE and 070 Shake at #2 (vying for #1 next week with the album release, I imagine) and of course, “Flowers” at #1. Now with that swept out of the way at rapid pace, let’s move onto our batch of new songs.
NEW ARRIVALS
#65 – “Us Against the World” – Strandz
Produced by Strandz and Blueboy
Strandz is a new UK rapper from South London who works closely with his producer Blueboy, with this new track being his breakout single, though he’s been putting out songs since 2017. I kind of had some hope for this given it starts with a chipmunk sample of the 1970 song “Who’s Gonna Take the Blame” by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles that sets up a great foundation for this kind of track as Robinson croons of youthful rebellion, which Strandz also raps about in his verse, specifically about his girlfriend that he puts over his friends and his money to face the world together. It helps that Blueboy is a great producer too, with a classic twinkling keys loop that sound straight out of Cam’ron’s back catalogue, and a solid, albeit stiff, groove to come with it. It’s not perfect though, mostly because of Strandz just sounding lacking in passion and not fully confident on this beat, to the point where his little ad-libs in the midst of the chorus sound kind of defeated and it really doesn’t work for this kind of content that needs a more fully formed and focused delivery. The beat doesn’t change that much either, which may be fine because it’s decently confrontational but the same piano twinkle and chipmunk vocal clip will only last a certain time before it gets a tad tiring, and I can see this souring on me more than growing on me... but for now, I suppose it’s got some potential. I’d like to see where both Strandz and Blueboy go from here.
#59 – “TRUSTFALL” – P!nk
Produced by Fred again.. and Johnny McDaid
Welp, I suppose P!nk is raring up for yet another album release and I honestly don’t know how she continues to chart as well as she does considering she hasn’t released anything particularly interesting in around a decade now. Regardless, she’s hired Ed Sheeran’s producers – smart choice – and went full synthpop on this one, wherein she expresses very familiar generic and motivational platitudes of love in a not-at-all compelling metaphor... what a surprise at this point. I remember when P!nk had some grit to her delivery at least, and any of that is stripped out when placed against the oddly confrontational synth beat, that has a really distractingly intense house beat driving it, which just seems like a complete mismatch, especially since the actual synthwork is somewhat minimal, or at least appears as such since it’s very basic and airy. More than anything, I just don’t see the point in this existing, and for someone who used to make some of the most cathartic pop rock in the 2000s, that’s sad, but also sadly expected.
#56 – “Snooze” – SZA
Produced by Babyface, Khristopher Riddick-Tynes, Leon Thomas III and BLK Beats
I stand by that you can tell an album has legs in the UK not by the albums chart but by if it debuts another song weeks after release that isn’t being promoted as a single. “Snooze” seems to be the fan favourite from SOS and it appears that of all producers in R&B, Babyface still has some of his magic touch because this is great. Sure, the drums may be a bit heavy-handed over this wavy blend of keys and guitars, but it’s hardly noticeable when SZA is practically rapping with as much effortless confidence as she can muster about... well, a mutually-loving relationship in which SZA will do anything for this guy. I will say that it doesn’t seem all that mutual, considering SZA goes way over-the-top – she seems to like murdering people but this time it’s for this partner instead of her own self-esteem. In fact, the cracks in this relationship which SZA seems initially lenient about particularly come through in that bridge, where the impulsive thoughts come in showing her insecurities about the relationship, particularly how the guy is putting too much pressure on her when he’s the one not putting the effort in within the relationship. The filtered, Auto-Tune bridge ironically has her most impassioned performance and really won me over with the song, considering that it never renders the rest of that genuine loving feeling a farce as much as it acknowledges that it’s not all peaches and daisies, and that same Auto-Tune filter is all over the backing vocals to show those thoughts come seeping in during and after that final chorus. Maybe I should listen to this album in full after all.
#23 – “I’m Not Here to Make Friends” – Sam Smith, Calvin Harris and Jessie Reyez
Produced by Sam Smith, Stargate and Calvin Harris
I haven’t listened to Smith’s most recent #1 album Gloria – I just don’t care about Sam Smith, and this song doesn’t really convince me on it. I mean, sure, it’s produced in part by Calvin Harris and apart from some backing vocals is essentially a solo cut, so it’s at least coherent unlike the other singles have been, but the disco groove feels particularly cheap, especially with the bass guitar and slightly obnoxious chorus which does not great in Smith’s falsetto and especially not in Reyez’s nasal intermissions which sound oddly mixed and unnecessary, like they plopped in a reference track. The content is fine enough, if not compelling, where Smith is looking for someone to pick up from the club and bring home... but like they say, they’re not the exception: it’s just a kind of dull track with not much to do with itself. I’ll admit that Smith’s harmonies sound great as always and it kind of picks up steam against the strings in the outro, but from that point it’s too little, too late. Also, RuPaul samples in the top 40? We’re at that point? I’m not sure whether to be happy or deeply disappointed.
#18 – “Love Again” – The Kid LAROI
Produced by Cirkut and Omer Fedi
Do you think now that The Kid LAROI is making more serious music and has grown fully out of the emo rap lane that they regret their stupid-looking stage name? The nod to his indigenous Australian heritage is cool and all but why is it Stylised Like THIS? Regardless, this is kind of his comeback single, relying on a frolicking acoustic guitar, almost folk-like, behind LAROI’s typical whining about toxic love-hate relationships, desperately wanting to find love in what clearly shouldn’t work... and yeah, it’s pretty good. I don’t know, maybe the songwriting has gotten tighter in the years since “WITHOUT YOU” – I think it really has, since there are so many hooks to this – or maybe his voice has just gotten less obnoxious, but he shows some restraint here, especially amidst the bass and uncertain backing vocals in the second verse which show a genuine attempt sound design-wise to create a dichotomy between the constant acoustics and the intensity of the relationship being described. Sure, it ends way too quickly, which is disappointing because it seemed like it was gearing up for a bridge, but the fragment that we have is pretty good, if not great. I wish there was more of it, though. It’s still weird to think that only two years ago if that I was calling this guy the white-passing version of Juice WRLD and he’s finally made the full-on Post Malone leap into not even trying to rap. Once again, like with Posty, it’s probably for the best here too.
#11 – “Voices” – KSI featuring Oliver Tree
Produced by Digital Farm Animals and Mojam
This really is a nightmare of a collaboration... you’d think with KSI’s growing efforts to be taken seriously in some regard, he’d make himself less of an easy target for novelty like with this collaboration with enigmatic nuisance Oliver Tree and “Christmas Drillings”, but realistically, he can have fun and do whatever he wants. It just seems like the shadow of him being a YouTuber will constantly ring into the music and often does so very obnoxiously. This is particularly true with this Godawful song, as KSI and Mr. Tree have to layer themselves with a disgusting degree of vocal takes to make them sound listenable, drowning out nearly everything in the mix except a weirdly mastered bass and a couple lone trap hi-hats that have been lost and found in this indie rock percussion. KSI is a better singer nowadays at least, and the lyrics are just generic post-breakup fluff, sure, but it’s so inoffensive to the point of aggravation, especially once the Tree pops up, because his smug pop-punk murmuring has no place on a song already this flat. I just can’t stand this in any way, but it’s still not nearly as bad as it could have been. Regardless, can we not make Oliver Tree a hit maker? Please?
Conclusion
Worst of the Week easily goes to KSI for “Voices” featuring Oliver Tree, mostly for the latter, but it wasn’t a particularly bad week even if it’s not worth comparing to the past few in terms of quality or quantity. I suppose P!NK gets the Dishonourable Mention for “TRUSTFALL” whilst Best of the Week easily goes to “Snooze” by SZA, with an Honourable Mention to “Us Against the World” by Strandz just because I want to see where it goes and I think the sound is onto something that could be big or at least have a semi-revival. Regardless, we’ll see what happens next time with RAYE and... God knows what else. For now, thank you for reading, and I’ll see you next week!
