Not to be nitpicky or anything, but I notice you occasionally critique LO for its lack of Greek culture, but reading Rekindled, Greek culture isn’t very present in it either minus some outfits, which is basically the same case as LO. It seems to also suffer from a lot of Americanized butchering of cultures.

Again so sorry if this is rude but I couldn’t help but notice it

I cricitize LO for its lack of Greek culture because its non-Greek creator claims she's a folklorist and that her knowledge of Greek myth is more advanced than everyone else's.

I myself am also a non-Greek person who is currently creating LO fanfiction with the intent of honoring the original themes of the its source material (especially The Hymn to Demeter) but that requires the additional layer of keeping it within the original restrictions of LO as it was first established back in 2017/2018 (i.e. I can only make so many creative differences without it going against the nature of it being an LO-retelling, so that often means some of the flaws of LO still have to stick around in Rekindled for it to still be an LO rewrite, if that makes sense).

Therein lies the difference, at least in my own humble opinion 💀😆 By all means, I'm not opposed to criticism of Rekindled for not being 1:1 with Greek myth either, but Rekindled wasn't created to be 1:1 with Greek myth, it was created to re-interpret what LO attempted to be while cleaning up the story, making the character designs more consistent, and actually tackling the plotlines that were dropped back in S1. If I wanted to do my own built-from-the-ground-up retelling of Greek myth, I would have, but my goal was more so to retell Lore Olympus in and of itself because that's where my interest lies. And that means working in the same context as LO, keeping what I like and reworking what I didn't like.

There are loads of creators who also do their own Greek myth re-imaginings that aren't 100% accurate to the myths but the works themselves are still incredibly entertaining and worth reading (and even the ones I'm not a diehard fan of I still don't have strong criticisms for). None of those creators claim to be an authority on Greek myth which is what I (and many others) specifically criticize Rachel for.

If LO had remained a fluffy office drama with low stakes, I probably wouldn't have had so many bones to pick with it in the end. It's the fact that its creator has built an audience around herself that treats her as the authority on the subject - which she has even gone out of her way to declare herself as - but then in practice can't even write a coherent story, let alone a coherent retelling based on the myths she claims to be so educated on. That's what made her work so subject to criticism and analysis more so than any other Greek myth retelling on the platform. That's what makes people such as myself expect better of her.

yes we do! some parts of the timeline are a little vague, but every live and "in situ" statement (with a few exceptions) has a date attached to it. Who do you think will die in future chapters of Black Butler?

I know I've already made a similar post theorising over how Black Butler will end but I'm very interested in Black Butler fan theories at the moment.

I'm gonna be explaining who I think will die in the future and why, some may have more detailed explanations than others since sometimes I just have hunches a character will die and sometimes I have better reasons to think so and I may also go into how I think they will die.

(warning: spoilers for a lot of the story)

1. Elizabeth Midford

There are 2 main reasons I think Lizzy will die, 1 is that I just have a hunch, Lizzy is a sweet girl but we've seen that no matter how sweet you are in the Black Butler universe there is a huge chance you will die (cough cough Agni).

And also there is a bit of foreshadowing in episode 6 (I think) of Book Of Circus. During one of fake Ciel's monologue flashbacks it shows him sitting on top of a throne with dead bodies of familiar characters beneath him. Most of the characters are characters who had already died before then such as Madame Red and Vincent, but when rewatching that scene I realised Lizzy was there as well. Could that be foreshadowing Lizzy will die in the future?

Maybe the next time she sees the fake Ciel he'll try to kill her as revenge for basically pretending to be the real Ciel, therefore Sebastian will have to come in and protect him, maybe even killing Lizzy or the least severely injuring her (and after that Undertaker could turn her into a bizarre doll or something)

2. Soma

This is definitely more of a hunch than evidence. Soma hasn't been in the manga in almost 100 chapters and we haven't seen him since 2017, the last time we saw him he was grieving over Agni's death.

I'm pretty sure he'll come back since it's not really like Yana Toboso to write off a character and never bring them back unless they canonically died or something, we've seen characters not appear for a while and then return (like majority of the grim reapers, Fred Abberline, sometimes even the servants like Meyrin, Finny and Bard if the current arc doesn't focus on them much and more on other characters like Ciel and Sebastian)

If he does come back I have a feeling he may die, I'm not really sure how though, like maybe he'll mistake Real Ciel for Fake Ciel and will be like "wait a moment why isn't Ciel wearing his eyepatch?" Or something like that and real Ciel will assassinate him to avoid suspicion.

Speaking of Real and Fake Ciel, I wonder how Soma would react if he found out all about that. I mean him and Fake Ciel are basically best friends, would he feel betrayed? Or if Fake Ciel explained why he did it would he forgive him?

3. John Brown, Charles Phipps and Grey

Sorry for including 3 characters in one, it's because these 3 are a trio and I feel like they'll all die for the same reasons.

So, if you haven't noticed or haven't watched the non canon parts of the black butler S1 anime, there are a lot of hints to what happens in the future of the manga despite most of the anime being released prior to those events.

Examples: an animal based servant (in the anime it was Pluto, a dog man and in the manga/canon parts it was Snake, who looks like a snake and can talk to snakes), the servants backstories (while some changes were made in the anime, all of the backstories were mostly the same, Meyrin was an assassin, Finny was an experiment and Bard was a soldier in a brutal war) and Undertaker being revealed to be a grim reaper

Due to all of this I have a theory that John, Phipps and Grey are all angels. Why? Well in the anime Queen Victoria had a servant dressed in white named Ash who was later revealed to be an angel and was the main villain of season 1.

What does Ash have in common with John, Phipps and Grey? They all wear white and they all work for the Queen, they also started out as characters you probably think weren't as important to the story but then later became antagonists.

It also gives Charles Grey more of a reason to stab Sebastian in the murder mystery arc, maybe the whole time he knew Sebastian was a demon? And maybe that's why he wasn't so suspicious when he found Sebastian was alive on the Campania.

I've also sensed that both Grey and Phipps had a bit of a grudge towards Ciel and Sebastian. At first I thought it was because of what happened in the circus arc (which is why the whole murder mystery arc happened), but even after Ciel proved himself they both continued to be a bit iffy around them... Again could this be because they know Sebastian is a demon?

Ash died at the end of season 1 after his evil plot to purify the world by setting London on fire (yeah I don't know why either season 1 had a lot of plot holes) since John, Grey and Phipps are all possible alternative versions of Ash I'm about 90% sure they'll also be killed by Sebastian.

4. Queen Victoria

Sort of the same reason behind why I think John, Phipps and Grey will die, except for this one I have less evidence.

Unlike in the anime, there hasn't been very much foreshadowing that Queen Victoria has made a contract with her 3 angelic servants or even knows they may be angels. However near the end of season 1 in the anime, Ash kills her because she became impure since she didn't want to be cleansed after the part of her body that was Albert began to rot.

I'm not sure if that'll be the reason for her death in the manga since unlike the anime her grief over Albert is usually played for comedic affect (like when John Brown used a doll of Albert to cheer Victoria up) but maybe there will be another reason. If she doesn't know her servants are angels but later finds out, they may kill her. Or maybe she'll just be killed by Ciel and Sebastian for some reason.

5. Real Ciel

I think the majority of us theorize he will die, he's a bizarre doll after all and almost every bizarre doll in the story has been killed, also he's sort of one of the main antagonists now after he exposed Fake Ciel for pretending to be him after death.

Again I'm not sure how he'll die exactly, but I'm about 90% sure he will die

Stranger Things and the quantum mechanics of time travel.

How El & Max travel through time.

I always pronounce the name in German that's why it didn't click. His name is Max - the Planck constant. With his work Max Planck layed the groundwork for modern day quantum physics/mechanics in science.

The Planck constant was a clue they gave us to point to quantum mechanics/physics and time travel. Quantum mechanics holds the scientific key to time travel and can even bypass the Grandfather paradox.

The one used in ST is from 2017,not the 80s which on face value looks like a mistake: 6.62607004

However if you split the number in half.

6+6+2+6 = 20

7+0+0+4 = 11

(That numbers, even dates put into an equation will turn to either 11 or 20 isn't unusual in Stranger Things: Mike tries to contact El 353 times, in the first DnD game Will needs a 13 but rolls a 7, Max's trailer number is 56 etc etc)

This split in half leads to another thought I had and others had but only in regards to Henry: that he was split. What if he wasn't the only one and there are two Elevens too, we just know them under a different name and face (I'll elaborate on that in another post)

Max was sent into another dimension & into the future.

Gates react depending on the emotions involved - fear and anger sent Henry into the Upside-down and love and compassion sent Max.. somewhere else. And it's just Max's mind. A gate was open. A mind gate. (We see the door of the Creel house is not in it's hinges when Max is there, meaning for her the door is open)

That's why they have parallels & mirrors. Literal mirrors as Max sees her counterpart, Henry, in the mirror, the left eye "blind" (there are other things they have in common like red & green clothing, a shot of Max in the gym vs Henry in the promo poster for that stage play thingy.)

We see the kaleidoscope before the teleportation - in El's "memory" before the zooming effect, the rainbow on Max's face & in the rainbow room. The most intriguing thing is that two kids use the rainbow as a bridge or road, playing with some toy cars on it.

And on the hand the colors we see from El's memory... It's a birth. Later associated with an electric shock when El is revived by Owens & Brenner.

"And there upon a rainbow is the answer to a neverending story. " - a rainbow bridge. A time vortex as it's called in Doctor Who. There also known as a Bifröst. Through a birth canal.

"Show no fear for she may fade away. In your hand the birth of a new day."

The association between this and "sent into another dimension" is obvious: El figuratively gave birth to or created something? Or at least helped. If not at least in a metaphorical way? . Most importantly Max's mind was send over this rainbow bridge (due to a fact that I noticed later/after this initial post - a zooming effect around El's head after the rainbow sequence) especially bc it appeared in the script during the revival, not before, a new dimension by teleportation of a being/mind. In connection to the electric shock/lighting bolt that can be seen in S1, framed by Blue and Yellow, and in the stained glass windows "eye" and in we have another association with the hints toward the 1.21 Gigawatts.

My Back to the future posts (a bit older and not 100% up to date & remember how BttF was literally in Season 3).

And the teleportation/transportation (as a metaphor) has been foreshadowed earlier when Max is in the hallway with the drawing of a rainbow starting with dots like it's disassembled into it's particles. (Comic book down below as an example of how you can do this in art)

According to an article (link down below) the physicist Timothy C Ralph ".... suggests using teleportation for time traveling, although in a different setting, namely, displacing the entangled resource in time." (This could be a coincidence but Tangled was pointed out as an inspo for S4. Tangled...entangled. The Creel house rose window that shows Blue and Yellow entangled. I don't know but it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to connect these things. So, this is definitely open for interpretation.)

Quantum mechanics, time travel/time displacement, wormholes (the DeLorean uses a wormhole btw and the time displacement is actually mentioned as a line).

They adapt these ideas (only on surface level), put in hints but basically, they told us what happened...it even makes it possible that Henry ended up in the past, defying the grandfather paradox.

We are talking about time travel via teleportation/transportation into another "dimension" .

Why else use these words in this manner in the script if not suggesting exactly that. (it could have been "when El remembered her birth/love of her mother yet this is not mentioned. Terry is probably just another proxy & Jane Ives just a...disguise). And mind lairs/inner worlds can be interpreted as exactly that: dimensions. I'm talking about Max's mind lair.

And then there was the hint towards "A wrinkle in time" and Mrs Whatsit. Madeleine L'Engle herself was fascinated by science like theoretical physics and like her the Duffers use these for ST.

In regards to quantum mechanics, you need to keep in mind a spin. "Deep inside all matter in the universe, electrons are buzzing around and behaving as if they are twirling around on their axes like spinning tops. These "spinning" electrons are fundamental to quantum physics and play a central role in our understanding of atoms and molecules."

Time travel however will work more like in "Days of Future Past" in which Logan's future mind was sent back in time into his younger self. Same body, different time. Like sleeping.

We saw for example quantum physics used as a means to travel through time and space in Endgame too. (I use these two examples only to showcase that others have done similar things too - it's not a direct inspo {necessarily} )

Except in Stranger Things and Max's case it's the future: an immediate time jump.

Brenner’s death shows a spin too and Henry is connected to things that spin like mills.

Why? Because that day in the lab, Henry/Edward was not only sent into another dimension but was also displaced in time. (Likely it were two Henry's from two timelines or he was split - the latter more likely. Others thought in this direction already. Same with El & Max?). Like Max was now sent into the future.

Nancy is opinionated, strong, occasionally hotheaded, a fighter. even misses other's opinions sometimes because she's so sure of herself. she's very clearly written to defy feminine gender roles. she talks about how she's scared of ending up like her mother and how she doesn't want to marry a rich guy in the cul-de-sac. Nancy is career not family oriented. s1 even has an explicit scene where Jonathan goes to give her the real weapon because she's more proficient at shooting than him. Nancy has a lot of characteristics often associated with men or male characters

and in the same vain Mike is written as a as not stereotypically guyTM as far back as s1 where Nancy's personality is also already established. he's quieter and more of a mediator between Dustin and Lucas's constant squabbling, only getting into fights and spats when he's directly involved. and he's been in the nurturing role right since the beginning. he takes a stranger in without second thought. he's the only one mature enough to not care that a girl is sleeping in his basement and acts completely normal about it. he stands up for El even to his friends. he's also managing the party by keeping track of where the members are and making sure everyone is okay (which he gets a bit careless with post s2 bc his straight guy persona is getting in the way)

just. before i got into the fandom here last year i actually thought the Wheeler siblings both not conforming to the expectations placed on their gender was just an accepted thing. with how much they mirror each other and how centered it's been since s1. wild to me that there's discourse about this sometimes now

there was a period of time during like 2015 - 2017? idk im guessing. anyway, it was around the time of mcd s1 ep 100 to all the MYS:TES episodes. i vividly remember as a kid going to the comments of jess’s latest instagram post and there’d be a bunch of people spamming waiting for the big releases of that time and it was like her comment section was one big groupchat for all of us excited for the next release. those were some nice days. very nice days. i miss it. kids these days and their YouTube premiere chats!

last movie/tv show: just watched a hallmark movie called #xmas where woman as fake relationship to win a design instagram contest it all makes sense. at this point i've probably seen more hallmark movies per year since 2020 than real movies, they're silly and formulaic but they go down so smooth. and i now have opinions on the best of their regular actors (jen lilley's movie where she falls in love w an old timey bootlegging ghost is an actual classic).

and for TV as always i'm watching real housewives as rich women fighting also soothes me (NY and SLC currently, and rewatching old married to medicine the greatest bravo show ever). and also almost done with ofmd s1 rewatch eeeee

sweet/spicy/savory: i've got a major sweet tooth, and college tradition of milk and cookies snack at 9pm every night does make me desire a dessert before bed always. i couldn't handle spicy at all as a kid and now i like it but unfortunately my stomach doesn't. and savory sure yes but sour is king and i do eat a pickle w dinner at home p much always

current obsessions: welll my billboard music polls lmao i've done every year of the hot 100 backwards to 1980. might do the 70s if i know enough of the songs for it to be interesting idk.

aside from that i've read 66 books so far this year which is the most of any year since i started tracking in 2017, thank you job with lots of free time. this year the authors i've been reading a ton of are mary balogh (regency romance), jasmine guillory (contemporary romance) and seanan mcguire's october daye (urban fantasy)

last thing i googled: what is a jogging board, which came up in travel guide to charleston i was reading (going for work tomorrow). they kinda look like see-saws but it's like a bench you sit and bounce on? doesn't appear to have a racist history at first glance at least tho w anything in SC you gotta check.
