49: Has the fandom changed over the last year? If so, how?

I don't feel like the fandom as a whole has changed much over the year, but my level of involvement in it certainly has. I started really actively posting in the CR fandom during the Issylra arc (I did post a bit before that, but it was intermittent), and since then I've really found a corner and am overall having a lot of fun in it

64: What plot thread do you need to see resolved this year?

I need to see Chetney try and figure out a way to bring a piece of Predathos back to fulfill his deal with Nana Morri. I also need to see what happens with the group planting a seed of All Minds Burn on Ruidus

With an eye roll, you brush off your roommate’s obnoxious teasing. Every time Jungkook buys you something she can’t wait to bring up that you’re fucking your weed man.

“Yup,” is all you reply.

Instead of getting mad, you take a break from your work and sit back on the couch, gracing her with a mischievous smile. She has no idea how far off she actually is.

Nobody is there for you like he is. He doesn’t just come in and fix the problem, he helps you figure it out and if you need help he offers.

He’s been to hell and back with you dealing with your old laptop, and he finally gave up on it yesterday. So no, you didn’t spend a second on your knees for it. But you will be on your knees tonight. 

Your poor miserable roommate will just have to rub her sour pussy to the sound of Jungkook getting his dick swallowed.

61. EXCELLENT. Fantastic show. We got a fantastic Caleb mini-arc, we got some fantastic combat, we got Aggie's brief and beautiful appearance, we got the Fjorester proposal, we got Sam Riegel Fuckery, we got the Nein doing their thing and, most importantly we finally got to see Blightshore for like 3 minutes. (I kid that's not the most important thing but it's up there. to me.)

67. Hopes: a satisfying, epic Otohan Thull battle in which she is soundly murdered, ideally with their own poison; more gods reaching out or generally communicating with Imogen in weird and fascinating ways; Ashton gets to talk to someone who knows about dunamancy. Bonus hope: Chet gets an elaborate flashback thanks to a Grim Psychometry crit on the entire sealing of Predathos that lasts like an hour, he relays this to the party, and then he dies that night because, as always, it will be fucking hilarious.

76. There were a LOT of irritating Ashton theories early on that I cannot entirely recall although at least one said they were a meteor. Anyway glad that's fucking over bc he's way cooler.

45. Ominous Lectures: Did your opinion on specific characters change over the course of the year? If so, how?

Honestly, the biggest opinion change for me this year was Laudna and not particularly for the better. I'd found her quite enjoyable as a character before, but something about the lack of cohesive backstory and her intense (sometimes confusingly so) reactions to plot developments this year really had me scratching my head and asking if her character made much sense at all. Because her reactions can be SO strong ("it's finally happened! Ashton has kidnapped Imogen!" and/or wanting to kill Ashton for "betraying" her) and it feels like there is not nearly enough background information for those intense responses to made sense. If I've watched the entire campaign and it's hard to puzzle out where these reactions are stemming from, then we have an issue. Yes, there are reasons if you dig into her backstory and listen specifically to what Marisha has said on 4sd, but in terms of what's been done ON the show itself, it doesn't feel like Laudna has enough history told for most of her reactions to make sense (also re: her suddenly talking about feeling hated by the gods, which had never come up before, and her sudden attachment to the titans during the Issylra plot especially compared to her convo w/Imogen in ep. 49 and her comments about the gods, which don't seem to follow at all the same lines of logic as she's using now)

I feel as though I'd started to turn a page on FCG by last year but their work leading up to and immediately after the solstice definitely improved; they've been on an upward trajectory ever since. I think I've also found a lot more interesting in Orym, who I always liked but who is by design Just a Guy. And I know I'd started to lose patience with Laudna's presence last year but it has gotten worse for reasons described in my answer to 58.

Favorite: I loved almost everything about both sides of the solstice split but I think my favorite was either the party leading the bull out of Uthodurn, which is just such a strong moment; or finally getting to see Molaesmyr. Least favorite: this isn't unique to the solstice split but really, my issue with the Are The Gods Good debate at this point isn't whether or not the gods are good, it's "pick a fucking side and stick to it unless something drastic actually changes; I cannot take your fucking wishy-washy bullshit, while I personally think siding with Predathos would indeed spell absolute doom at least OWN IT" and the split had a lot of that, especially on the Issylra side.

I do sort of wish gone to Hishari (though they covered the plot well enough in the Shattered Teeth and I don't necessarily think they'll gain anything by going there at this point) but more importantly, my increased disappointment in Laudna is that her development during the split was great and then it all fell apart again, so I wish either we'd gotten more time in that arc after Delilah was awakened, or I wish she'd stayed angry at the rest of Bells Hells and explored that, instead of that just utterly vanishing. I think the theme honestly re: the gods debate and anything I'm NOT really feeling is "commit to the fucking bit, I'd rather someone commit to a bit I dislike than be indecisively dull."

I'm honestly pretty fond of this short Fearne/Chetney piece I did earlier this year! Writing their voices is always a good time and I think this one turned out quite well.

To be fair, I have not read a ton of fic this year, and there is SO much art that I've loved it's actaulyl very difficult for me to pick out specifics. But I'd be remiss not to mention @kerosene-in-a-blender's Relvin/Vandran fic A Port in the Storm because it's great little jaunt into a very fun ship (that I hope will have more fics in the new year! This is a callout for me specifically to get a move on on that)

Honestly this hasn't really been a campaign with any like, I Must See This ships for me, but I think I enjoyed Laudmoore rather more before my investment in Laudna largely dissipated, and Fearne/Chetney has since had some fantastic moments so while I always enjoyed it it's moved up in my estimation, but like, I am not watching this campaign for the ships.

56. Honestly like half the dialogue either among Ashton, Imogen, and FCG or between Fearne and Chetney in 78 would qualify but I think "I wanted to feel robbed" is a line that really hits.

62. Yes everyone go listen to Midst; Imago. Which means you all need to listen to the WHOLE thing, basically, to experience Imago.
