A question from a non comics fan here, and admittedly one that hasnt seen mom but something from your liveblogging stuck out to me. Your complaints seem to be that the world of the mcu is inconsistent with the world of the comics so I have to ask, why would an adaption have to be in continuity with its source material? the world of the mcu is not taking precidence over the world of the comics its just a different world, where ie mcu 616 is different to comics 616 in the same way that peter jackson middle earth is an adaption that exists for those movies and is different from the middle earth that is in the novels

Oh, because the way the Marvel Multiverse works is that everything is canon.

Every adaptation is considered a separate universe within the Marvel Multiverse.

This is how it worked even before the MCU. Raimi Spider-Man is Earth-96283. Wesley Snipes Blade is Earth-26320. Fox X-Men is Earth-10005, though First Class continuity has yet to get an official number and has the Temporary Reality Number of TRN414.

Thing is, if the MCU went off and had it's own Multiverse, sure go ahead, but both it and Spiderverse have leant into the "every adaptation is a separate universe" thing too. They've decided they want to play in the same playground, but are ignoring many of the pre-existing ground rules.

Spiderverse, to it's credit, fixed it's issues by calling Peter B's universe Earth-616b. MCU, to it's discredit, keeps trying to push itself as Earth-616 when it already had the designation Earth-199999.

Well, I have *many* wips on the go right now, but I’m currently in the trenches of chapter 1 of a slowburn wolfwren / rebels house share au, so here’s the last sentence I wrote for that (literally wrote it like five minutes ago lol… also fuck it, i’m giving more than one sentence because it’s dialogue so needs a bit of context idk):

‘…One-twenty credits a week, right?’

‘Right.’ Ahsoka looked sceptical. ‘You have a job then, I assume?’

‘I will. Soon.’

‘Soon,’ Ahsoka nodded. ‘Well, I usually ask for a couple weeks’ deposit up front. That’d be two-forty. Can you cover that?’

‘Of course.’

Shin licked her chapped lips. She could swing it with half a dozen to spare. Not ideal.
