For our latest assignment we had to work in a room with colored lights and find a way to create performative art. When first hearing of this, it dawned on me how anxiety inducing it would be to perform in front of the class. The thought of dozens of eyes watching and judging me felt nauseating and invasive.
After some thinking, it reminded me of how it feels to be stalked; a constant gnawing fear of being watched in your day to day routine. Thus, I thought of the idea of creating a scenario where the class would be in the role of a stalker watching someone get ready for the day, much to their ignorance. I chose a greenish yellow to put forth a sickly feeling as well as choosing a song from Possibly in Michigan. The song has many creepy qualities as well as being from a short film with a similar theme to my project.
My performance in contrast to my classmates was non-interactive and at times felt awkward or creepy, which is what I was striving for.

My new demo reel is here! This is a sampling of some of the best work I did over the course of my animation degree.
I am applying to animation and game studios, but I also plan to continue doing freelance and commissions. My artistic toolbox now includes 3D modeling, 2D and 3D animation, previs work, illustration, comics, graphic design, logo design, motion graphics, and more. So if you find yourself needing any part of that in the future, hit me up!
You can view even more samples of my work at my portfolio at www.trippgustin.com.
For our new project, we were tasked with doing a wide shot and close shot of a location in Miami. I decided to do shots of my daily walking, commuting and spots I visit around my campus. I wanted to go for a hazy editing style to get across how tired I feel throughout the day. I also used music I tend to listen to when traveling for long periods of time.
For time's sake and efficiency sake, I spliced all my footage and put them side by side. In a way, it creates a sense of disorientation. Which is not too far off from how I feel at the end of the day.
