Hello! I absolutely love your blog, everything from your festival recounts to animation analysis and programming (one of tumblr's recommended posts was the one where you made your own rasteriser, and I liked your attitude in what I've read so much that I'm gonna attempt to conquer my 3-year-long grudge against using opengl during college and do something similar now that I'm a bit older and have no deadlines :D).
But anyway, I have 2 questions (sorry if there's easily accessible answers, tumblr search is not helping): 1. During your animation nights, does the screen stay black while everyone watches their own video while you provide commentary? I haven't caught any yet but maybe someday! And 2. do you have any youtube channels or just one-off video essays that you like that also cover animation/directors? Or, even programming lol.
Sorry for the long ask have a nice day!
hiii! i'm very touched that you like my dorky eclectic blog <3
For the Animation Nights, I just stream the video over Twitch from local sources on my computer, typically by playing the video in mpv and recording it in OBS. This is obviously not ideal from a video quality perspective, but it's the easiest way to watch video in sync without making everyone download files in advance. Then we all chat in the Twitch chat box (in large part to crack stupid jokes, it's not that highbrow lmao). I've gotten away with it so far!
As for youtube channels, I can recommend...
anime production/history (i.e. sakuga fandom)
SteveM is likely the most sakuga-fan affiliated anituber. He makes long, well-researched and in-depth videos on anime history, usually themed around a particular director or studio.
Pyramid Inu might be my fave anituber - very thoughtful analysis of Gundam, obscure mecha anime and oldschool BL and similar topics. tremendously soothing voice too.
The Canipa Effect does excellent deep dives into the production of specific shows, both western and anime. I appreciate the respect he gives to the Korean animators of shows like AtlA in particular!
Sean Bires's 2013 presentation on sakuga is pretty foundational to this whole subcultural niche, and a great place to get an introduction to the major animator names to know and significant points in the history of anime. unfortunately a couple of the segments got slapped down by copyright but the rest holds up!
animation theory (for animators and aspirants)
I'm going to focus here on resources that are relevant to animation in general, and 2D animation. if I was going to list every Blender channel we'd be here all week :p
New Frame Plus is one of the best channels out there for game animation, describing in tightly edited videos how animation principles work in a game context and analysing the animation of various games. highly recommend
Videogame Animation Study is similar, examining the animation of specific games in detail
the 'twelve principles of animation' (defined by Disney's Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas) remain the standard approach to animation pedagogy; there are various videos on them, but Alan Becker (of Animator vs Animation) has quite a popular series. I haven't actually watched these but many people swear by them! Dermot O'Connor expands the list to 21. Note that some of the terminology can be a little inconsistent between different animators - c.f. 'secondary motion'...
Dong Chang is an animator at Studio NUT, who produces a lot of fantastic, succinct videos on standard techniques in the anime industry, timesheet notations, etc. etc. Studio Bulldog, a small anime studio, are a good complement; they focus more on douga than genga and are generally a bit more traditional.
programming
big topic here, I'm going to focus on game dev and tech art since that's my field. but also some general compsci stuff that's neat
SimonDev - graphics programmer with a bunch of AAA experience, fantastic explanations of advanced optimisations and some of the more counterintuitive aspects of rendering
Acerola - graphics programmer who makes very detailed guides to a variety of effects with a very rapid and funny 'guy that has seen monogatari' editing style. When he's good, he's really good. His video on water is probably the best one I've seen (though I can recommend a couple of others).
TodePond - the most charming, musical videos about recursion and cellular automata you've ever seen. less programming tutorial and more art in themselves.
Ben Eater - known for his breadboard computer series, a fantastic demonstration of how to go from logic gates up to the 6502 with actual hardware. worth watching just for how clean he puts the wires on his breadboards like goddamn man
Sebastian Lague, Useless Game Dev - both do 'coding adventure' style videos where they spend a few weeks on some project and then document it on Youtube, resulting in a huge library of videos about all sorts of fascinating techniques. great to dive into
Freya Holmér - creator of the 'shapes' library, makes videos on mathematical programming, with gorgeously animated vector graphics. Her video on splines is a particular treat.
There are definitely many more channels I can recommend on these subjects, but I'll need to dig into my history a bit - unfortunately I need to rush out right now, but hopefully that should be good to be getting going with!

In Defence of Super Paper Mario's Gameplay and Design
Super Paper Mario is commonly referred to as the "Black sheep" of the Paper Mario games, segmenting the original "good" Paper Mario games and the "bad" Paper Mario games.
The first thing that I thought the first time I picked up Super, without any pretext of the game in advance, is.... that it looked bland, simple and boring.... Though...Upon playing the game...I was met with the most unexpected experience. The simple design of Super Paper Mario drastically juxtaposes the, by proportion to the previous Paper Mario titles, much larger story beneath it.
The simple gameplay, the simple design, help keep a player in line with the belief that this is a "Mario" game in an original way to how the previous titles do. The previous titles get away with a non conventional Mario type of gameplay because it still attains attributes that you can identify with "Mario". More of the NPCs (At least a lot of them, not all of them obviously) are traditionally Mario, the engagement with the game, regardless of the unique locations, still feel like Mario.
But with Super...It doesn't really have that. It really feels like one of the developers had a fever dream and was ademant to make it into a game, but then realised last moment that Mario had to be there- The platforming element is something more traditionally Mario, it's one of the few factors of the game able to keep the player able to connect this game with "Mario" and by giving the game its own identity.
The game being entirely 2D instead of the 3D world with 2D characters also helps to distinguish the game with its own identity, and I feel the geometric digital aesthetic compliments this vastly simplified execution of gameplay. Had Super been an RPG game like its predessecor, while, yes, it would be more in line with the prior titles, I also believe Super would be seen as even more strayed away from what Mario IS as a whole because it doesn't have anything else "Mario" to fall back onto...Also Super wouldn't be its own thing, it would be naturally linked to the originals' identity instead of having a unique one of its own.
I also see quite a few complaints regarding the geometric design of the characters, especially the NPCs and I would like to provide my opinion on the matter. Mario characters are typically not geometric. They're rounded. Shape theory dictates that this more rounded design leads to more approachable types of character design. Super is filled with practically entirely edged characters, especially the antagonists, these edges activley enhance the characteristics of the antagonists. I've done a more detailed analysis of this topic on an earlier post.
The NPCs being bland and mostly uncharacterised, along with the partners isn't something I particularly see as a problem either, this works in Super's favour. Super is a game about the destination, NOT about the characters you meet along the way. The story is concentrated on a constant focal point that gradually increases development over the course of the game. More attention is focused on keeping the narrative of the game focused on the villains and your heroes. Thousand year door is a game about the adventure, not necessarily about the destination directly (of course the destination is important, but people usually remember the amazing partners and journey MORE than the ending itself, at least I think, if not, I apologise). The main villains are relevant to the story, but Mario going on an adventure is more prioritised by the developers, so naturally a developing party cast and detailed NPCs are more important than an expanding overarching narriative (Not to say TTYD doesn't have a narriative, but just to say it's less prioritised, just like how Super doesn't prioritise NPCs and partners, even though they are still present)
If there is one key complaint of the gameplay that I DO agree with, it would be the bosses. The stakes are demolished when using the infamous Bowser and Carrie combination- It makes some of the serious moments, specifically the finale, far less impactful. If the final boss had a timer and an actual fail screen where you see the ruins of all worlds...Or something to that extent- if you happened to die in that final battle, I feel the stakes would be far higher-
Another complaint I agree with would be the world design in some areas. It's a bit inconsistent, albeit charming. I'm not particularly a fan of Ch1's rushed transition between the grassland and the desert, nor of Ch5's bleak dryland aesthetic or Ch3's odd transition between the bitlands and Francis' castle. Having the areas be perhaps tied to the colour of the pureheart along with the areas themselves bing quite consistent (Like how Ch8 was all in Castle Bleck, Ch4 was all in Space , Ch2 in Merlee's mansion, as an example) probably would have bettered the design.
Overall, I think the game Super Paper Mario is a very well designed title, along with the rest of the series, though this one in particularly stands out to me. The series has a lot of diversity and appeals to an array of different types of people depending on what they personally value in a video game. I love all of the titles very much, despite how different they all are. Thank you for listening to my extensive discussion.

Something I once thought about worlds in videogames is how much are they about the actual places or the "decoration" and aesthetics.
Like what is Mushroom Kingdom? Is it the specific layout of places like Peach's castle or the aesthetical elements like green pipes, mushrooms, hills with eyes and so on?
Same for Sonic if Green Hill is some specific locations in 3D games or the levels in 2D games.
Doom is an obvious example being a series with so many mods and custom levels: There's the UAC as in specific setpieces in 3 and so on and then the limited levels with textures and assets that don't return in later games.
For 7th gen examples, LittleBigPlanet and Minecraft come to mind, since LBP even tries to make the campaigns feel like they were made with the same tools as custom levels and reward players with assets they can use for their levels.
Minecrat has iconic textures even if they might've been "programmer graphics" at the time (Since there's stories of originally having different player models like a version of Beast Boy and that Rana girl).
When videogames get more graphically advanced, they get to have more specific worlds, so "themes" aren't much of a thing then.
It's also a way to look at real countries that you haven't been on (Or fully visited) and wonder about places that could exist there because of their cultures and architecture.
This is probably why people hate modern architecture because even if it's more practical, it doesn't have the same personality or style.
I wonder about "themes" being a thing in other mediums too and if this is affected when a lot of aesthetics in various media can overlap (Partially because of artists chasing trends but also with how many pieces of media can exist in the first place).
Maybe some essay e-celeb will make a video about this but part of why I wrote this is because of my game (Project Nortubel) and as of writing this, I'm working on level tilesets and props to suit the theme of Nortubel as a world.
I'm gonna have to choose which assets to add in and how they're going to be used.
This can also apply to fanbases and when people have a "dollhouse" mentallity with not just characters (Be it ships, "comfy AU's", power levels or army/faction analysis) but other aspects of a series' setting.
Edit: There's also the equivalent to "elastic timelines" but instead of timelines, it's with locations.
Like how big is Springfield from the Simpsons because of some stories where the map layout might as well be changing or how infinite Mega-City One from Judge Dredd is because of the amount of stories.

Revit for Architectural Building Design
Tumblr media
Building design has evolved significantly over the years, and architects now rely on advanced software to create precise and efficient designs. One such powerful tool is Autodesk Revit. Revit is a BIM software that helps architects, engineers, and construction professionals design, plan, and manage building projects efficiently. Unlike traditional drafting tools, Revit allows users to create intelligent 3D models that contain real-world information, making the design process more streamlined and effective.
What is Revit?
Revit is a software application developed by Autodesk that enables architects and designers to create detailed digital models of buildings. It is specifically designed for BIM, which means that every component in a Revit model is connected and intelligent. If a designer makes a change to one part of the model, it automatically updates related elements, ensuring consistency and reducing errors.
Unlike traditional CAD software, which focuses on 2D drawings, Revit creates a complete 3D model that incorporates data related to materials, dimensions, and construction phases. This ability to integrate detailed project information makes Revit a valuable tool in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, allowing teams to work more collaboratively and efficiently.
Benefits of Using Revit in Architectural Design
1. Efficient Design Process
Revit simplifies the architectural design process by allowing users to create floor plans, elevations, sections, and 3D views within a single platform. The software provides an intuitive interface that enables architects to design buildings more efficiently and make real-time modifications. With Revit, designers can quickly explore different design concepts and configurations without having to start from scratch each time.
2. BIM-Based Collaboration
One of the biggest advantages of Revit is its ability to support collaboration among different teams. Since Revit models contain all project data in a central location, architects, structural engineers, and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) professionals can work on the same model simultaneously. This reduces miscommunication, minimizes design conflicts, and improves overall project coordination. Cloud-based collaboration tools like Autodesk BIM 360 further enhance teamwork by allowing real-time access to project files from different locations.
3. Parametric Components
Revit uses parametric modeling, which means that every component in the model is defined by parameters and relationships. If an architect modifies a wall’s height or a window’s size, the changes automatically reflect throughout the entire model. This feature helps maintain accuracy and consistency across the design, preventing errors that might otherwise occur in manual drafting. Additionally, parametric components allow for rapid design changes and adjustments without compromising project integrity.
Tumblr media
4. 3D Visualization and Presentation
Revit provides high-quality 3D visualization tools that help architects present their designs effectively. It allows designers to generate realistic renderings, walkthroughs, and fly-through animations, making it easier to communicate ideas to clients and stakeholders. This visualization capability enhances decision-making by offering a clear representation of how the final structure will look, even before construction begins.
5. Accurate Documentation and Scheduling
Revit automatically generates accurate construction documentation, including floor plans, elevations, and schedules. Any changes made in the design are instantly updated in all related documents, reducing errors and saving time in the documentation process. Since construction schedules, material quantities, and cost estimates are directly linked to the model, architects can ensure better project planning and execution.
6. Energy Analysis and Sustainability
Sustainable design is a crucial aspect of modern architecture. Revit includes energy analysis tools that allow architects to evaluate the environmental impact of their designs. Users can analyze energy consumption, daylighting, and ventilation to create sustainable and energy-efficient buildings. By integrating green building strategies early in the design process, Revit helps architects meet environmental standards and reduce a building’s carbon footprint.
7. Cost Estimation and Material Quantities
Revit helps architects and project managers estimate material quantities and costs accurately. Since the software integrates with BIM workflows, it automatically calculates material take-offs and generates cost estimates, making budgeting more efficient. This ability to manage construction costs ensures that projects stay within budget while reducing waste and unnecessary expenses.
Tumblr media
Key Features of Revit for Architects
1. Architectural Modeling
Revit enables architects to create detailed 3D models of buildings, including walls, doors, windows, roofs, and staircases. The modeling tools allow for precise placement and modification of elements, ensuring a well-structured design. The software also includes a vast library of pre-designed components, which architects can customize according to project requirements.
2. Family Creation
Revit includes a library of pre-built components (families) such as furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Architects can also create custom families to match specific project requirements, ensuring flexibility in design. These custom families allow for greater design accuracy and consistency throughout a project.
3. Views and Sheets Management
Revit provides multiple view options, including 3D perspectives, elevations, sections, and plan views. Users can organize and manage these views on sheets for easy presentation and documentation. With automated sheet management, architects can quickly produce construction drawings and ensure they remain up to date with any design changes.
4. Worksharing and Collaboration Tools
Revit’s cloud-based collaboration features, such as Autodesk BIM 360, allow multiple users to work on the same model simultaneously. This enhances teamwork and ensures seamless project coordination. The software also includes version tracking, ensuring that all stakeholders have access to the latest design changes and updates.
5. Phasing and Design Options
Architects often explore different design concepts before finalizing a project. Revit offers phasing and design options that help users create multiple design variations and compare them side by side. This feature is especially useful for renovation projects, where different construction phases need to be planned and executed efficiently.
6. Rendering and Visualization
Revit includes built-in rendering tools that allow users to create photorealistic images of their designs. These visualizations help clients and stakeholders understand the project better. By integrating with rendering software like Autodesk 3ds Max, architects can produce even more detailed and lifelike renderings.
7. Detailing and Annotation Tools
Revit provides comprehensive detailing and annotation tools to add dimensions, notes, and symbols to the model. These tools help create clear and precise construction documents. Additionally, architects can include callouts, legends, and schedules to enhance the clarity of project documentation.
Why Architects Should Use Revit
Revit has become an industry-standard software for architectural design due to its powerful BIM capabilities and efficient workflow. Here are a few reasons why architects should consider using Revit:
Improved Productivity: The automation and parametric features of Revit help architects complete projects faster with fewer errors.
Cross-industry collaboration: Connect multidisciplinary teams efficiently. Share and annotate drawings safely and securely with Revit.
Better Collaboration: Teams can work together seamlessly, reducing design conflicts and improving efficiency.
Accurate and Consistent Documentation: Changes are updated automatically across all views and sheets, minimizing discrepancies.
Analyze and Visualize: Conduct building performance analysis with Insight. Create high quality visualizations with Twin motion for Revit.
Future-Proof Technology: As the AEC industry moves towards digital transformation, adopting Revit ensures that architects stay ahead of the competition.
Conclusion
Revit is a game-changer in architectural building design, offering a wide range of tools and features that streamline the design process. From 3D modeling and collaboration to accurate documentation and sustainability analysis, Revit helps architects create innovative and efficient building designs. By integrating Revit into their workflow, architects can enhance productivity, improve accuracy, and deliver high-quality projects that meet modern construction standards. Whether you are a beginner, or an experienced professional, mastering Revit can significantly boost your career in the architectural industry.

How Cardiologists Diagnose Heart Conditions Effectively
Tumblr media
When it comes to protecting your heart health, early diagnosis is key. A qualified Heart Specialist in Solapur plays a crucial role in identifying and managing heart conditions before they become life-threatening. But how exactly do cardiologists detect heart-related issues? The answer lies in a thorough process involving clinical evaluations, diagnostic tools, and patient-specific analysis.
1. Detailed Medical History
The first step in diagnosing any heart condition begins with a comprehensive review of the patient’s medical history. Cardiologists ask about symptoms such as chest pain, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, or palpitations. They also evaluate risk factors like smoking, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and family history of heart disease. This helps form a baseline for further assessment.
2. Physical Examination
A physical examination allows cardiologists to check for signs like irregular heartbeats, heart murmurs, or fluid buildup in the legs and lungs. Using a stethoscope, they listen carefully to the heart and lungs to detect any abnormal sounds that may indicate underlying issues.
3. Electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG)
An ECG is one of the most common diagnostic tools. It measures the electrical activity of the heart and helps detect irregular rhythms (arrhythmias), heart attacks (past or current), and other abnormalities. It is painless, quick, and provides immediate results.
4. Echocardiogram (2D Echo)
An echocardiogram captures live images of the heart using high-frequency sound waves. This test reveals how well the heart muscles and valves are functioning. It’s particularly useful in diagnosing valve disorders, heart failure, and congenital heart conditions.
5. Stress Testing
Stress tests are conducted to evaluate how the heart functions during physical exertion. Patients may be asked to walk on a treadmill or ride a stationary bike while being monitored for ECG changes, blood pressure, and symptoms. This test helps reveal problems that may not be visible while at rest, such as blocked arteries or exercise-induced arrhythmias.
6. Holter Monitoring
It records heart rhythms continuously during normal daily activities. This is ideal for detecting intermittent issues like skipped beats, palpitations, or unexplained dizziness.
7. Cardiac CT and MRI Scans
Advanced imaging tools such as CT (Computed Tomography) and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) offer detailed insights into the heart's structure and blood vessels. These non-invasive tests are used to identify plaque buildup, congenital defects, tumors, and more.
8. Blood Tests
Blood tests can detect markers of heart disease such as troponin (used to confirm heart attacks), cholesterol levels, C-reactive protein (CRP) for inflammation, and BNP levels for heart failure. These tests are usually combined with imaging for a more accurate diagnosis.
9. Coronary Angiography
For patients with suspected blocked arteries, an angiogram is performed. A special dye is injected into the coronary arteries, and X-rays are taken to visualize any blockages. This procedure is crucial in planning interventions like stenting or bypass surgery.
10. Collaboration with Other Specialists
Sometimes heart conditions are linked with other diseases like diabetes or kidney issues. Cardiologists often work closely with other medical specialists to provide a comprehensive diagnosis and treatment plan.In conclusion, effective diagnosis of heart conditions involves a mix of clinical experience, advanced technology, and patient-centered care. If you're experiencing symptoms or have risk factors for heart disease, it’s important to consult a trusted Heart Specialist in Solapur for timely evaluation and expert guidance.

6. Post-Construction Marketing and Portfolio Building
Once the building is complete, the story doesn’t end — it’s time to showcase the results. Drone content is an essential tool for marketing completed projects and building your company’s reputation.
At Petrossian Aerial, we offer:
Final-phase drone flyovers for websites and social media
Before-and-after video comparisons
Portfolio footage for future project proposals
Aerial footage for press releases, ribbon cuttings, and awards submissions
Whether you’re launching a new commercial complex in Burbank or a mixed-use development in Pasadena, we help you capture the accomplishment from the sky.
