But they are just overwhelmed by these inner city woke policies with people who vote for them. Those people don’t deserve anything unless they show that they’re going to make some changes”.

Notwithstanding the not so subtle racism of ‘inner city woke’ comment, exactly what is the senator from the state ranked 44th out of 50 for living standards, health, education, opportunity, natural environment, ect, saying?

Alabama’s GDP grosses $300 billion, with a population of a little over 5.1 million people, they are the 14th highest recipient of federal welfare assistance, they are 45th in education and 44th in overall health. Over 360,000 residents receive rental assistance and nutritional assistance.

Yes. California ranks number one for dollar amount federal assistance. Although upon further analysis the percentages are far less unbalanced as the numbers would suggest.

California is the WORLDS 5th largest economy, grossing $3,862 billion annually, with a population of nearly 40 million. That is over 10 times the annual revenue Alabama takes in, with almost 10 times the population as well.

Does California have its share of difficult circumstances it deals with, with some questionable solutions to do so? Yes. Yet seeing as it’s the top contributor to federal tax revenue they obviously are functioning beyond the norm.

Overall the states that fund this nation the most are, California, New York, New Jersey, Texas, Pennsylvania and Florida. States such as the Dakotas, Wyoming, Mississippi, Kentucky, and yes, Alabama, contribute a dismal amount in contrast.

Let’s look back to late summer of last year. When two hurricanes devastated the the lower southeastern states, Helene causing monumental destruction and incredible loss of life. Did the Biden administration use these disasters as a political tool? Did he suggest that they shouldn’t get funding until they remedy their bigoted, unconstitutional voter suppression and gerrymandering? No. He said that the United States government is here for you. While right wing politicians and media plastered the victims with false statements and misinformation, confusing and misleading the afflicted Americans, FEMA and the Biden administration begged the survivors to reach out for help. The politically motivated lies even spurred FEMA to create a specific website combating the false claims and offering assistance.

There’s the old saying, Rome wasn’t made in a day, the recovery from these massive events unfortunately takes time also. Yet NEVER did Democrats or Biden lead folks astray, exploit their vulnerability, or abandon them. I know, I reside in a county that was declared a disaster area after Helene. The federal response was quick, and thorough.

What did the right do? Lie. Mislead. Frighten. Contrive a self serving narrative. Enrage those impacted and scrambling to piece their lives back together.

The void of compassion, the insufficiency of truth, the lack of maturity from much of the right is astounding. When did we begin using the suffering of Americans as a tool to advance your political agenda? When did it become the status quo to segregate assistance to only those who align with your political views? What was the moment when helping your fellow American out in a time of need was tethered to conditions?

In my just over 40 years on this earth I’ve seen the GOP go from being a party of fiscal responsibility, “Christian family values”, the party of law and order, and the party of high moral standards, to now where over a quarter of the current deficit was created in one Republican presidential term, a party of nominating, elected and confirming sexual assailants and predators (not just Trump), a party that not only backs and supports a felonious insurrectionist, but tiptoes, if not flat out violates the Constitution and rule of law, and a party that has no self awareness of its own misgivings.

Personally. I want leaders who are far more intelligent and far more qualified than me to be in charge. I want leaders who harbor self restraint and possess an extraordinary sense of moral fortitude. I want leaders with grace and maturity running the various aspects of this country. I want leaders who care and hold reverence to their values and to the oath of office they swear to.

Can we go back to a time where those who represent us were adults? Can we go back to a time where government was beholden to you as an American citizen regardless if you reside in a blue state or red state? Can we go back to a time where leadership wasn’t a popularity, tribalist, culture war crusade?

We are all humans. We all feel pain. We all feel joy. We all bleed red. Most importantly we are all citizens of the United States of America, key word united.

This shouldn’t be this hard. It shouldn’t be this controversial or complicated. We are one nation, we all want to see it flourish. We all do better when we are all doing better.

So please! Let’s return to decency. To compassion. To respect. To some mild form of social adhesion.

If you want the newest things, you can get them straight from the shops selling them:

Manga-based goods are in Jump Online Shop - e.g. they sell birthday goods but also other MHA-based goods like the Big Acrylics, the new Dainama keychain, the blind hero badges.

Anime based goods are available in TOHO Animation store (e.g. the Top 10 fantasy art anime version, but lots of older stuff too) or Bones online store which right now does the Villain Animal fair.

Animate runs some of the same goods, but also some cheaper collabs.

If you are after figures, amiami is a good option. They have good English interface.

If you are after merch that is special to Japan only event or collabs, Mercari is great. Lots of people are selling off their MHA collections in bulk, so it's easy to find great bargains, lots of vintage / now rare merch. Mercari is partnered with a proxy service called Buyee that will buy for you the goods for a 300 yen fee. They also store for free everything you bought for 30 days and bundle it to ship it in bulk, which saves a lot on shipping fees.

Buyee can also be used to buy things from jumpshop online or Toho animation store by using their other sites purchase function as many of the official stores require Japanese address/ credit card.

Depending on your location, there are probably also online stores that specialize in importing manga merch, but in my experience, it tends to be cheaper to take some time to find the things you want and work it through a proxy, as they tend to work with huge markups.

For things like figures, it again depends. For anything Ichiban Kuji - your best bet is mercari. For general release figures, it's probably easiest / cheapest to use your local amazon / alibaba etc.

If you are after the new nendos, probably best to buy on you local goodsmile company website.

Making Gifs Part 1 - Capturing Video

I am making this for @errruvande but I thought maybe others could use this guide to. This is my own personal workflow on how I make my gifs. Everyone has their own way of doing it, and there is no right or wrong way, but I have found this works best for me, with my limited tools and since I do not have photoshop.

Please note I am not an expert lol! There are people out there making far better gifs than me, and many other gifmaking resouces on Tumblr that are probably better than mine.

So there are two ways that I have found that work for capturing video. If you have the discs like I do, using a program like Videobyte BD-DVD Ripper works really well to grab video clips from Blu-Rays and DVD's. I recommend only using Blu-Rays if you have them. since DVD's are much lower quality.

However I have noticed the videos I captured with this program tend to be dark and have some compression artifacts, even when rip to an MKV with high quality settings. So I use a different method which I feel produces higher quality video captures.

I use Windows Screen Recorder (I have Win11 but this will work for all versions of Windows) with the quality settings set to High. In order to do this, go to Settings > Gaming > Captures and set the following:

Make sure the Video Quality is set to High, set your Screenshots folder, turn off Audio (you don't need it), and keep the frame rate to 30 fps.

For Windows 11 press WIN + ALT + R to activate the screen recorder. There is usually a bit of a delay so make sure you start a few seconds before the scene you want to capture. And try to keep the length of the capture below about 90 seconds; the shorter the better.

Capturing Sequential Caps

So, for those of you with Photoshop, you can import your video directly into the program and make your gif from there. But I found that Photopea really does not like videos, and will stall and crash if I load a video directly. So I have to capture sequential screencaps to make my gifs.

I use VLC Media Player. There are a few others out there that take sequential caps, but I have not been able to get them to work myself.

Download and install the latest version. Then go to your settings to set up the Sequential Caps function. They have a great guide on their website here but I will reiterate it in this post.

Go To Tools > Preferences and then at the bottom of the screen select the All radio button to show all settings.

Select Video from the left menu. Scroll down about halfway until you see the Snapshot section. Choose the folder where you want the caps to go.

3. Then, under Video on the left, expand the Filters list.

4. Check the "Scene Video Filter" from the list.

5. Then scroll down on the left menu under Filters and click on Scene Filter. This will open up the settings for that particular filter.

6. Set the Image Format to PNG.

7. Then for the Recording Ratio, change to "1". The Recording Ratio is the frame interval. So for example, if it was set to "300" (with a 30fps video), then it would take one cap every 10 seconds. Setting it to "1" will make it take a cap once per frame.

8. None of the other settings need to be changed.

9. One more important setting, otherwise this will not work! Close the menu, and go back to Tools > Settings and leave it on Simple. Go to the Video section and MAKE SURE the output is set to "Automatic". This is important because if it is not on Automatic the Scene Filter won't work!

Then just open your video with VLC. VLC will automatically take the screencaps while the video is playing. If you pause the video, it will stop taking caps.

NOTE: For smoother gifs, change your playback speed to be slower. Go to the top menu > Playback > Speed > Slower (fine). The more you click this the slower the video will playback, and that means more caps will be taken over that time frame. I usually set it to 0.75x, but if you want even smoother gifs for really short clips, you can set it even slower than that.

Jedi Army of Light and General Population Breakdown

So, when you write a star wars fic in a time period most people don't explore, you end up having to figure out the logistics of how a military would work. Which means I looked through the US military websites and thought deeply about how orbital warfare would work.

I'm not a military history buff or anything so this is pretty much two hours of work before I said 'meh, good enough'.

Under the cut is the full breakdown I did for the Jedi population as well as the military order of the Army of Light. Keep in mind all these numbers are estimates for easy math so I don't melt my brain.

On the general population:

Somewhere in canon, it says that the Jedi population was 1 million before the end of the Sith Wars, and then 10,000 after the Battle of Ruusan. The number of 1 million is usually referring specifically to the Army of Light, so we're basing the numbers on the understanding that the army has 1 million Jedi enlisted.

If you've read In the Year Ruusan, you know that I changed the population of the Jedi at the time of the reformation to 1 million instead of 10,000, so keep that in mind as you read the rest of this post.

In order to calculate the rest of the Jedi's population, I went with the assumption that on average, Jedi who are fighting age (Padawans and older) comprise of 66% of the population. Younglings make up 15%, and those too old to be enlisted make up 19%.

Therefore:

The total population of the Jedi Order at the time of the Ruusan Reformation is about 1,340,000.

About 201,000 are Younglings.

About 134,000 are Padawan age.

About 750,400 are Knights and Masters of fighting age.

About 254,600 are Knights and Masters not of fighting age.

(Population breakdown is inspired by Switzerland)

On the Army of Light:

What's interesting about Star Wars warfare is that aerial battles (mixed with naval warfare but in SPACE) are usually run by the generals who also do the ground campaigns, at least in TCW. In the Rebellion era, most of the warfare was done using ships, even in low atmo. For example, the battle on Hoth in ESB. There were ground troops, but most things were done in the air. Probably because they were evacuating, but also because it's easier to carpet bomb stormtroopers than it is to fight with a limited supply of soldiers on the run.

During the Sith Wars, we've mostly got planetary warfare between the Jedi and Republic and the Sith Empire. This means the hierarchal order of the Army is going to be based on what is most functional for taking control of an entire planet.

Therefore, taking info from the US military, I've organized the Army of Light as following:

A planetary corps is the entire fleet sent to each planet. From there, it's broken up into two hemispheres, which is then split as needed in order to take over the major cities.

Wing - 5 beings. Led by 1 Master, usually with 2 Knights and 2 Padawans as support.

Guard - 50 beings, 10 wings. Led by a lieutenant.

Templar - 250 beings, 5 guards, 50 wings. Led by a captain.

Infantry - 1000 beings, 4 templars, 20 guards, 200 wings. Led by a lieutenant colonel.

Crusade - 5000 beings, 5 infantry, 20 templars, 100 guards, 1000 wings. Led by a colonel.

Hemisphere division - 15000 beings, 3 crusades, 15 infantry, 60 templars, 300 guards, 3000 wings. Led by a major general. Covers half a planet, both in atmo and on the surface.

Planetary corps - 35000 beings, 2 hemisphere divisions. Led by a lieutenant general.

There's a total of 28 active planetary corps.

Planetary corps are split up as needed, breaking down along this grouping order before being deployed across the galaxy.

Hopefully this tool helps out anyone interested in writing some fic about this era! If you're reading my time-travel obi-wan fic set in the years following the 7th Battle of Ruusan (linked here and above) then I hope this is a useful reference when I write about the army and population demographics.

I'm a little pissed off because I saved up for quite a while to buy a nice 3 in 1 packer (pack, play, stp), and it's... disappointing.

The older model had really good reviews, but since they released the new model, they stopped selling the old one. I assumed that the new model would at least not have lost any function from the previous model, but it has. The previous model was a packer and stp at all times and had an insert for 'play' mode, but you could still use it as an stp with that insert in, and you could pack with it as long as you were okay with it looking a bit hard. The insert was easy to put in without having to remove the whole packer. You could just slide it in real quick and move on. It also had a feature that did require a bit of setup but would allow you to simulate ejaculation.

The new model doesn't have the ejaculation feature at all. And the thing itself is basically a penis shaped bag, which does look very realistic and feel decently realistic, but the pack, play, and stp modes are all achieved by using different 'cores' that you put in the outer skin. So in order to switch between different functions, you have to fully remove the packer from the harness, take out the core that's in it, and put in the one you want to use before returning it to the harness.

So if you want to use it for pack and play, you either have to pack hard or accept that you're going to need 5-10 minutes to get it switched over. And if I'm going to do all that anyway, I might as well have saved myself some money and just bought a normal strap-on.

Worse is if you want to use it as a packer and stp. Packing with the stp core looks and feels unrealistic. Even through pants, it doesn't have the right shape. But what's the point of having a super realistic penis stp if, in order to use it, you have to fully remove your pants, take the harness and packer off, take the packing core out, put in the stp funnel, then put the harness back on. What, am I supposed to go into a bathroom stall, do all of that, then go back to the urinal, take a piss, then go back into the stall to reverse that whole process? And that's not even mentioning that the opening of the stp funnel is really small and difficult to use.

And, perhaps most importantly, for me, the packer core is shorter than the "skin" it goes in. So you can either not put it in all the way and have a realistic base to shaft transition but a flat and deflated tip. Or you can put the core in all the way and have a good-looking and feeling shaft and head, but the base is bent at an impossible angle that clearly shows that it's fake.

I've spent the last month going through the website trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, trying to figure out how to rig this thing to work better, and it just doesn't. I'm pissed that I spent over 300 dollars on this.l, especially since the older model was so highly recommended. It seems so bizarre to me that they would have such a well-regarded product and then just tank it.

This is gonna sound uhhm backhanded but, so many 'small businesses' are now posting about no longer being able to ship their Chinese factory made (pause for effect) items to the US anymore/losing customers, and it's like...so your business plan was solely reliant on very very cheap Chinese labour and manufacturing. But call it a 'small business' even where it was 100% factory made and sealed without a scrap of personal touch or hand making from you. I feel like this tariff situation is showing a lot of people up and they don't realise it.

It's actually bad because it has been so accepted that 'artists' with 'small businesses' use Chinese factory suppliers and now, since none of the actual process beyond 'designing' (designing means sh1t btw when it comes to manufacturing, figuring out *how* to make a functional object is 90% of the job) was their own, they can't run their 'small business' anymore.

Here's an example of the kind of thing 'small businesses' are posting right now about the tariffs,while scrambling to justify why they use questionable labour practices (it costs 4x more elsewhere...yeah why is that) 'labour costs are higher' yeah, that's because...

Now, this sum immediately becomes interesting because this matches, entirely, the fabric costs at retail. Meaning, there *is* no labour cost here, they are charging only for the fabric.
