MERMAY!!! i totally forgot about that. so now i gotta write for it today which was not rlly planned but ehhhh :D this is my first time writing on tumblr so let's see how it goes. also for this i'm making the titles a line from whatever song im listening to because im lazyyy

Despite his fathers’ obvious attempts to drag him along the hallway, Sapnap stayed put, with his arms crossed tightly over his torso and a grimace on his face. He was not going to the small fish, he wanted the big fish; he sees small fish all the time, so what if these are a little more human than the last?

Bad and Skeppy looked back at him, already several feet down the hallway before they realized that Sapnap’s little pitter-pattered footsteps weren’t following them.

Sapnap stayed put, against Bad’s words of encouragement and Skeppy’s already-tired-of-him gaze.

“I don’t want the small fish!” Sapnap whines.

His parent’s share a worried look.

“Sap, we think you might not like the big fish,” Bad reasons, walking to him and crouching by his side. Sapnap looks into Bad’s eyes and frowns. His brows furrow and he tries to compose his anger. Why didn’t they listen to him?

“But why not? I can handle anything, and I don’t want the stupid smaller fish,” he explains, reluctantly letting Bad undo his angry arms to hold Sapnap’s hands in his own. The touch is warming, and it cools him down almost instantly.

“We’re saying we don’t want you to be scared of them. Do you remember the sharks last year?” Skeppy adds from afar. Bad nods quickly in agreement, but it only causes Sapnap to huff, half-scoffing and half-groaning.

“I was five last year, and I liked the sharks, I never said I was scared of them. And these are real mermaids,” he tries. He doesn’t want his efforts to be lost, but that’s what it’s looking like.

Bad, after a moment of consideration and a look back at Skeppy, sighs. “We can take you, but if you get scared, you tell us, okay?”

Sapnap’s eyes light up, nodding eagerly, his raven-colored hair falling over his eyes with the motion. 

Easily, he leads the way and his parent’s follow close behind him, all the way to the end of the hall, then left into a much larger hallway with tanks that seemed  to run all around them in one big pool. Everywhere he looks there’s deeply colored and isolated waters.

Sapnap is much more at ease here, with eyes eagerly looking around the giant tunnel-like tank to try and spot a mer.

The waters seemed quiet, for a while, where Sapnap grew easily disappointed at the silence, like somehow he wasn’t worthy of seeing something. 

Bad and Skeppy talked quietly amongst themselves, and if it wasn’t for his divided attention, perhaps he would’ve heard about how supposedly aggressive these beings were.

He was halfway across the hallway before a shadow stretched over him from above, smothering him in darkness and a newfound hope. Eagerly, he looked up over him, a tail easily fivefold his size. And the top half of the mer slightly smaller but somehow the intimidation never leveling out, it was huge.

Another thing for certain was that his parents were foolishly wrong. Because as soon as the mer had come down over the side of the tank and settled in by watching the three in the tunnel, Sapnap was running to it, something of relief in him. 

“Hello!” Sapnap greets it from behind the glass, putting a hand onto the exterior of the tank. It’s cold underneath his touch, but it somehow disperses when the mer behind the glass is returning the gesture with five harsh taps against the glass tank; it’s almost like touching the mer entirely with how warm it gets.

And easily, it obscures his view to where Sapnap has to move around the hand to look at it again. Its tail was almost glowing from the deeper waters, neon-green lacing the bottom of emerald scales. His ears were a similar color, with fins flicking as Sapnap smiles at it.

It looks young, probably just a bit older than him. As it smiles at Sapnap, it bares its sharp teeth which almost glow the same green as his scales. His eyes are neon, just like everything else. And although he can’t really tell, his hair looks both blond and brunet. It’s fluffy, even from under the water as it drifts around him. 

His jaw nearly drops. It’s entrancing to watch how a creature could look so human, but so massive and alien.

The two stare at each other for a while, before the mer swims to where Sapnap stood. 

Sapnap takes a step to the left so his worldview isn’t a predator. Because even though he wasn’t scared, it was nevertheless unsettling to see sets of predatory teeth grinning at him with neon eyes to accompany him.

But, as he moves, the mer follows him.

He frowns, shaking his head while taking several steps to the left to try and keep it away.

But, almost as suspected, it follows after him.

‘Stop,’ he mouths, running in the opposite direction. 

Sure enough, the mer follows him, cutting through the water to chase after the little human who couldn’t help but smile as his new friend trailed after him.

🐣 - Favorite animal in game?

Absolutely not a surprise to anyone 😅

One of the things that drew me to the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons franchise in the first place when I was about 12 years old was the horses. I didn't care whether they were 2D sprites or 3D models - if the game let me own and ride a horse, I was sold! 😅

But since I'm sure everyone was expecting me to say that, here's my second favourite: the alpacas.

I vividly remember how excited I was when they revealed that alpacas would be available in HM:ToTT! This was such a unique and cool livestock choice for me, and I'm delighted that they've proved so popular that they've stuck around for future titles.

What haven't I said about this man at this point? He deserves to be a secret marriage option, already! I don't care if he isn't 'traditionally' handsome: if people can fall for Gustafa and Griffin, then I can fall for Harris 😉

Class Saturday Night tonight and the exercises are double for those who feel ready. 🤩

Ok, so the previous class was cancelled because of rl reasons but today I bring you still life as an extra, for compensation.

But first things first. My personal favourite exercise for drawing is the line of vision one. Both other exercises build up to this one and now you’re going to learn how the mechanics work.

Find a can, like a canned tomato one or something. Preferably a closed one. 😬

It doesn’t need to be stripped off, if the scheme and colours are too confusing you can cover it with a blank piece of paper or you know… strip it. 😗

This tin is going to be drawn from 3 different angles:

One: put the can on a surface from where you’re allowed to see its whole front from top to bottom but you can’t see the underside or the top of it and it’s not curved. ➡️ This is your eye level. Anything in this height is viewed in-form and one-dimensional. The main information you get of the object is the height and width ratio.

Two: put the can on a surface from which you can see its whole front from top to bottom and the top of it. The top and bottom will appear curved. ⬇️ This is your under eye level. Anything in this height is viewed slightly transformed in a way where you get more information about the shape, width and depth of an object. The height of the object is downsized.

Three: put the can on a surface from where you’re not allowed to see its whole front from top to bottom (this doesn’t apply if you place it on a glass surface, though!). The top will appear curved. ⬆️ This is your above eye level. Anything in this height is also viewed transformed in a way where you get a false height information, ie: the object appears way more tall than it actually is. From this angle you also don’t get information about the top because it is hidden and the bottom because it is also hidden by the surface it stands on (again, this doesn’t apply if it’s on a glass surface! In this case you see the underside of the object like in the under eye level but the height here is oversized.)

These 3 viewpoints are how we perceive the 3D in general. Along with depth and volume, we get real-life information about our environment and it’s how we also get an instinctual understanding of what is smaller or bigger than ourselves, hence whether it presents a threat or not.

Now, for our extra, I would like to introduce still life to the class. For the setup we will need a bottle (preferably a wine bottle because it has less curves, but beer would also do I guess), a funnel (you know, like those with which you fill oil kitchen bottles?) and a fruit (like my ‘beloved’ orange or an apple. I’m not sure bananas would work the same. Also, if you happen to have grapes, this would look so pretty?! 🥰 but rip your hand, though… oops.) Arrangement for this one is free.

Let the objects blend and overlap; the lines and shades should give a nice recap for what you learned so far. Try to observe and reprint what you see on your paper. By observation, your mind will start to categorise and reprint shapes and volumes naturally, especially if they blend in like this. This will only improve over time and practise so keep it up.

The way you work with your pencil will also adjust to your own personal way of drawing, as you try new things and ways to achieve better control over it. The key is to always try and have a close reproduction to what you see. It’s something you can confirm yourself and that’s also why it’s important to start drawing from life.

BTW, this is an extra exercise and it’s going to blend with the next class one. So don’t feel too overwhelmed about doing it, ok?

What’s important, is to understand how eye-level measurements work. Take your time with this class’s exercise and try to understand how and why it works like it does. The synthesis is more about learning through fun than anything, so only start with it after you’ve finished the three single-object exercises. 🤗

how did you manifest your best friend?

I was quite lonely when I began to revise, but in true loa fashion I ignored the 3D and didn't let it get to me. Now, ignoring the 3D doesn't mean denying it's existence, because that can be quite harmful. It means being convinced that it will change and living in the End OR the knowing.

Whenever a thought popped into my head about it, I would say to myself, "lonely? Who, me? No, I the god of my reality and everything I am experiencing is a bridge of events to my desired outcome. I have my best friend, I always have. In fact, [started affirming for a best friend]". This method was helped by SATS (my beloved) and generally working on my self concept!

I only really knew it worked when my mum asked me what I was doing with [bestie] that weekend, and i was like ???? And when it clicked, BOOYAH! So happy and validating. Of course I immediately explained this to my friend who was really confused, but that's beside the point. I went on a bit of a ramble here, but I hope I answered your question in some way! 🤗

It was hasty and sloppy but this is the basic idea I had for the apartment and stuff, like where some things are

Ignore the empty spaces and size scaling but Vara's room is bigger than Irza's so oh well

Also ignore my horrible handwriting...tried not to have the words look scribble too many times but they tend to blur when not paying attention
