Who are some other athletes you would like to see go for different events, even if it would be an unconventional transition?

Looking for olympic event background music experts:
What’s the instrumental/electronic song that’s often played after finals in track and field and in other stadiums? Sounds like Daft Punk but I can’t recognize the exact song, and it’s driving me crazy. I heard it again yesterday night at the end of men’s triple jump and 400mH.

Hilarious how different the response is to the Warholm/Mondo 100M exhibition race at the Zurich DL meet to Sydney being unable to compete the 200M/400M in the DL Finals. The former being met with praise (which it would be it was amazing) about how fun and exciting track and field can be, and the latter having netizens tout that there’s strict rules to follow and trying to frame her as lazy or a cheater? Interesting.
For context: the 100M is an exhibition race just between the 2 men who are the world record holders in other events, the 400MH and pole vault respectively. The Diamond League is a circuit-style international competition, and both men have competed in other 2024 DL events and were allowed this exhibition race just for fun. Sydney is the 400MH world record holder who submitted for the DL Final in the 200M and 400M, strong but non-typical events for her, and was blocked from competing due to DL rules. She would only be permitted to compete in the 400MH.
For additional context: DL rules state that athletes typically must earn a spot in the finals by earning points via the circuit of competitions throughout the year, but it allows exemptions for “wild card” spots to allow athletes who didn’t qualify via the circuit route to compete - famously Ingebrigtsen allowed this wildcard spot in the 3000M DL final last year and went on to win. There are wildcard slots that allow the host country to invite additional athletes, and there are “global” wildcard spots to allow the highest-caliber athletes to compete even if they are missing circuit points (reserved for world record holders, world champions) - Sydney would fall into this category. HOWEVER, this global wildcard spot has a stipulation that athletes must have competed in at least 1 DL circuit event during the year, which Sydney has not.
All of the “ 🤓👆well rules are rules!” people need to think beyond their snide comments and realize how these types of decisions are continuing to hold back track and field from being more popular worldwide during non-Olympic years. Yes Warholm/Mondo were allowed to have more flexibility to propose their fun exhibition event because it wasn’t the final and they’ve attended other DL events this year, but I really don’t see why similar flexibility couldn’t be given to arguably the most notable athlete in the sport currently.
What good does disallowing her from competing actually provide? “Fairness” to other athletes? If we truly cared about furthering this sport we’d ensure that the level of competition is always pushed to new heights at every opportunity and not just the Olympics. When more and more athletes are competing the contract minimum amount of races, maybe we need to rethink if these circuits and events are designed with the athletes’ best interests in mind. Right now they can barely attract athletes to compete let alone fans to watch it lol.
Another difference is that while the men’s 100M times were impressive for not training in the discipline, they weren’t DL competitive times - whereas Sydney could actually break records in the 400M and 200M even though they aren’t historically her main events. I am (selfishly) disappointed we won’t get to see what type of times she would have produced after her historic runs at the Olympics.
I guess we’ll see how this plays out with the Diamond League in future years, with alternative leagues such as Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track league & the women’s-only Athlos league and more people brainstorming how to change the system. There’s a huge part of the community so focused on “tradition and prestige” that they’re willing to let the sport fall behind. Records are being broken in nearly every discipline and it’s an insanely good era for the sport, yet the sport is so so awful at garnering popularity and hype, and unless you are the tippy top famous athlete it is nearly impossible to get paid as a pro athlete or find sponsorship to continue. It’s just so frustrating because the sport does not have to be this way.

Something something -I want to see you win even if it means I lose the thing I’ve worked towards for years… something -I will cry tears of joy to have my dreams crushed by you
mmmm i don’t rly think this is the vibe. this is so silly to answer but like climbing doesn’t function like other sports lol
janja is the best comp sport climber probably of all time (alex puccio? but janja is still so young) so brooke winning silver is actually incredible for her; i don’t think anyone expected janja to lose out on gold. & theyre also rly good friends + have climbed together for years & years
beyond that climbing like… rly isn’t abt “winning” in that way, it’s just abt climbing your best & sending cool shit. brooke climbed incredibly well in semis & finals & i wouldn’t be surprised if she puts down a v16 outside w her brother like… any day now. a medal in the olys is rly cool but honestly not the pinnacle of achievement in climbing, esp for someone who’s so talented indoors & outdoors like brooke.
i think they rly were just stoked! they both climbed so well & it was reflected in their scores! a silver medal for brooke is basically a gold (it’s like if u were in the 400mH w syndey or the 1500m w katie ledecky lol). so nah i don’t think brooke was crushed or whatever, & i rly don’t think she’s like only working toward olympic medals.
i DO think it was a gay little show of joy that’s for sure lmfao i also think brooke most likely will be the first woman to send an (undisputed lol) v16 outside (maybe shiraishi?) which idk man to me is even sicker than a gold medal? lmao. & i’m SURE janja will be celebrating that w her in some way like that would be so insane
so anyway i think it’s even gayer than u imagined bc climbing is different!! it’s like wow that was so incredible, we were both amazing, i’m so proud of you for doing your best, you won gold yeah & i won silver YEAH!, i love you, thank you for training w me & pushing me & being my biggest supporter, etc etc. they’re both wife guys in that moment? incredible content
