you know what's really cool and awesome and totally doesn't make me want to explode?

my phone is fairly new, and can use 5g internet. in fact, because of my service, it can ONLY use 5g internet when 5g is available. the only time it can use 4glte is when there are no available 5g networks.

5g internet uses the same wavelengths as 4glte. so theoretically, my internet speed should be no worse than exactly the same as it was before.

you know what else is really cool? the cell tower I live near give higher priority to 4g networks. when multiple people try to connect, 4g gets access before 5g. which normally wouldn't be a problem.

When I yank that battery with a kapton tape pull strip attached...and discharge the caps by pressing all buttons repeatedly...NO YOU CAN NOT CALL 911 from it.

If you pull the sim card and put it into another phone and it will not connect to the cellular network it's 75% chance the phone is tapped.

They'll have at&t customer support tell you all kinds of stuff that makes no logical sense to explain it. They will put you on hold while whoever has your phone tapped listens in...eventually they will transfer you to a fake female customer service rep who is really fbi or law enforcement...telling you how you are not suppose to and not authorized to remove the sim card etc

Got so much done today! None of it was writing but that's okay. Hopefully will write after work tomorrow or Tuesday.

I spent like the better part of an hour yesterday in the book file but the only thing I ended up doing was repeatedly attempting (and eventually succeeding) to find and replace the name of one of the two main characters in a 103k word gdoc, running on Firefox with ublock (google hates that) on an old netbook with a janky trackpad via a 4gLTE (effectively 3g) hotspot on a tiny cheap phone.

I decided to double the last a in Tirra's name to make it Tirraa, so I would hit the "replace all" button, the tab would lag big time, I would go "did I hit the button? Nothing is happening" and I'd click it again and after another few minutes end up with a bunch of double replaced instances of "Tirraaa." Then the file would glitch and need to be reloaded.

Eventually managed to have the patience to let the replace process run without suspecting my dodgy clicker of being the culprit, and it worked! And I am counting that as hundreds of little edits accomplished instead of one moderately sized one, which makes it more than worth the time spent.

Today I did my weekly chores plus like most of the chores that I try to get to every few weeks but haven't in a while, and I helped a friend out with getting some of my cardboard boxes for her move, and I did some mending! Fixed the hole in my corduroys, then the corner of the pocket on a shirt I like, did some more reinforcement on the cuffs of my warmest hoodie (third round, I am rough on those cuffs) and mitosed my warmer bag.

It used to be a neck pillow shaped thing full of rice, and then it started leaking so I put it in a knotted pillow case, but it was getting to the point where I could see the pillow case seams pulling apart and knew it was due to burst any day, and anyway I had been sort of wishing for two smaller rice bags. So I took it apart and put half of the rice each into socks.

There were four socks altogether for two double layer bags, first two old socks missing their mates and then a pair of socks that is lovely and I've kept for reasons but doesn't fit my ankles. They make very elegant rice bags!

Shark week again but thankfully seems not to be as bad as the last few. Cold weather and the let-up in stress after the holidays are likely factors there.

They plan to use the 3G frequencies to bolster their 4G or 5G networks this providing a better service for the majority of customers.

Now the deadline has been stated people are coming out of the woodwork saying this is not fair.

There are still a small number of 3G customers and Vodafone claim that 3G takes 4% of their data traffic. But anyone who has used 3G for data will know how poor the service is - current web sites require a large data download that 3G cannot cope with. Even with a 3G phone and no 3G connection 99% will be able to connect to 2G to make a phone call or send an SMS. All is not lost.

Other stories are from councils who claim their parking meters need 3G to connect to their severs. In fact they may be a number of devices that use 3G to connect. And it is also true that 4GLTE boards cost much more than GSM / GRPS / 3G boards. These councils and providers have been criticised for ignoring all the signs that 3G is going and are now complaining.
