Ever since I was young, I have been curious about the difference and usage of Traditional and Digital Media. All I know is that they are all about visual entertainment that people are using from numerous generations.

When I first heard the traditional media, people are still using it these days. In fact, traditional media are not old yet, traditional media such magazines and newspapers are still used by our grandfathers and parents. The comics like Marvel, Riverdale and books like Twilight and Hunger Games are still being collected by teenagers up until today. As I live in this world for 18 years, I noticed that there are people who is used to read books rather than trying the trends these days. Without traditional media, we may find it hard living in this high-tech world.

The new or digital media is what I call the recent and most known media especially nowadays. Most people prefer to use new media over traditional media for faster entertainment and study purposes. Surprisingly, I never expect how wise our human mind is, it can create multiple technologies and other discoveries that we are currently using today. Communication technologies such tablets, cellphones and laptops act as a channel that can help millions of people for better and effective communication.

Social media is part of new media that can be installed or search in our personal gadgets such YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and even this Tumblr app which can update us more about the news or things we wanted to know everyday. Just like in the law of MIL, it is a dynamic process that people learn everyday in their lives.

Wearable high-technologies such Air pods and automatic watches for listening music and watching time, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for transferring data information, Duolingo for learning different languages, Virtual Reality and gaming console for entertainment purposes.. These are some of the famous trends that people are using nowadays.

Traditional or new media, without these incredible discoveries, our knowledge are very limited and will be time consuming for communication. It help us a lot more and develop our own understanding how these gadgets and old media works. In fact, we still do not know what might happen in the future, who knows what people like us can discover.

Dear Viewer(s),

I feel like I’m a driving a car down an empty road. No one’s there. No one that I notice and no one that notices me. My car is not too fancy but it is in well  enough shape to be comfortable. I’ve never really known how to drive the car though. It’s a stick shift and I barely know how to drive a manual. I’ve been able to manage this long on the stick but I feel myself panicking. I know that I will soon crash if I don’t get a hold of myself. But I think that maybe it’s not about getting a hold of myself but learning how to drive. How long will I manage? How long will I have to struggle? I’m aware of my problems but what’s the use if I can’t solve them. Wouldn’t it be best if I pull over and get help? I think I need many things though. I think that I need people in the car with me. Not others to drive. This is my car and I need to choose where to go. But sometimes I need directions and others will help me on that. I also, think I might need to change cars all together and choose a new path. A path where I don’t feel so lonely but I’m also not too crowded. I need to change my exploration.

(This is an unfinished story draft about types of media)

I am writing today for the sole purpose of telling you a story about a man I once knew and was loved by; His name is Christian Boughen. The Capital knows Christian as someone daring and curious, but I know him more than that. He is someone you'll find at tavern chatting with travelers just to get that tiny piece of information that could inspire him to do his crazy deeds. One time, he provoked one of the innkeepers. The lad poured his beer all over the countertops just because someone told him to make a scene in exchange for information about the northerners. In the end, he was thrown out and wasn't allowed to enter the tavern again. Bloody crook, if I wasn't there to save his ass, he would've been locked in a dungeon or so.

But...Christian is spontaneous and always yearning for adventure, other's might see that uncanny for a man of morals to be acting so. But for me, I see it as someone who wants to know the world for what it truly is...

So, let me tell you how we met, shall we? We first met in the northern capital of Hueberham, where the flowers bloom in the winter breeze and where you can see the stars in the afternoon heat. It is a strange town, I know. But nonetheless, I was there to deliver a letter to his dad Armando Boughen. His father is the bishop of Hueberham, who always wore a cloak with the finest quality of silks with a crest of Eisendoor to show he is a nobility. Unlike Christian, who only wore commoner's clothes just because he's more comfortable with it.  

When I arrived with the letter, Christian was playing with his sister as Mister Boughen sat on the front porch, reading newspapers from different publishing origins.

"Good day, Sir! I have been sent to deliver a letter to you from the front row of Balench." I said as I extend my hand to give him the letter while bowing to show my respect.

"A letter? from whom I wonder," He said as he looked at the letter, batting his eye and squinting it just to see the indented words.

"Ah, from your father!" He exclaimed as he stood up from his chair, letting the newspapers fall to the ground. "It must be the project I've been funding for a while..." The bishop is funding my father, an inventor, to create means of communication that can extend throughout the world without the use of magic. Since magicians are dying out because of their fertility rates, this is a vital problem that the front row of Balench and Capital of Hueberham are accompanied to solve.

Please do tell your father to contact me through telegram instead of sending a letter." He said as he batted his eyes towards me with disgust. The bishop isn't fond of me because of the accident. One time I was cleaning the laboratory and forgot to close the door; a cat came in and jumped on the cauldron, resulting in the chemicals to react and explode. Poor cat tho...

Ps: I honestly don't know where I'm going for this since I'm pantsing, but this is supposed to be a post about MIL and the different types of media used. But I guess I failed to extenuate that into a story, so I am deeply sorry. I'll just have to explain where I'm going with this to make sense. Basically, all the media that are introduced to this story are different, like the letter, telegram, newspaper, and magic. I was going to continue the story, but when I found out I was getting to more than 500+ words and not even close to the middle part, I just had to stop here and explain myself. So If I was to continue this story, this is going to branch out to when Christian was 26, and I was 25. This is to show how much the media changed and what improved in society. More so, there will be a part where I will reflect on what happened to me and Christian and how we bonded with the use of different media. As I will be a future writer in the story and Christian as a traveler and Inventor. So yes, If I continue the story, I will no doubt reach probably 12-15k words just for this one post alone. Also, I still posted this story even though it isn't finished because I already wrote the first part, and I am not going to use this plot in my future stories, so might-as-well make use of em here. Maybe my next post will just be the standard “What I learned about MIL” type of post, cause making these post interesting enough to read is harrdddd!!!

g’bye, smart phone!

for the past couple of months, i had been contemplating transitioning my iphone5 se to a plain ‘ol flip phone that primarily makes only calls and sends text messages.  the opportunity finally came when my husband squished his samsung galaxy phone in between the hood of our white sedan.  we went straight to a sprint home store and i passed along my iphone to him and got myself a brand new alcatel flip phone.  

ever since i had my baby girl, olive - who is going to be 8 months next week - i found myself being distracted by my smart phone.  when i would be feeding her a 6 oz. bottle, i was on my phone.  when she is walking in her walker, i was on my phone.  when she is playing with her toys, i was on my phone.  at night, i run out of time to read one of her books to her, but i have time to be on my phone after she sleeps.  

this isn’t right. 

this isn’t fair.  

i need to be more in the moment.  she’s only a baby once and as every mother knows, the days go by fast.

i can’t even begin to describe how free i feel.  my smart phone started becoming a habitual thing - part of my every day norm.  i would check instagram just to check it.  i would shop on ebay and amazon just because i could, not because i really needed another useless consumer product.  “not anymore,” (*in Grandmama’s voice in the Addams Family in “The Addams Family Values”).

i’m more in the moments, i’m shopping less, i’m paying attention more to my family (juan, olive, my poochies), i have more time to cook, clean, do laundry, use my film photography and most importantly, i don’t have a device glued to my hand.  

do not be mistaken.  i’m not completely disconnected from the world.  in today’s advanced status, you NEED to be connected for employment reasons, keeping up with the news, daily correspondence through email, checking on bank accounts and bills, etc.  i still do everything i did on my phone with my home computer.  i check my instagram, i go on pinterest, i check my emails and bank accounts, but!  JUST NOT AS OFTEN AS I USED TO WHEN MY PHONE WAS A COMPUTER.  i go onto my home computer, log in a couple times a day and i’m set.  

one of the best self-help choices i’ve ever made.        

p.s.  my phone lasts 2-3- days before having to be re-charged.  yup!

The Annoyance of Men.

Well. As one may not know, I am a slightly single woman. I have dabbled in most genders alike. I have done more crazy things for a woman than for a man. V weird, v strange. Anyways. I say slightly because I'm pretty much still in my hoe phase and I really just wanna be wined & dined by some rich nigga who won't worry about what the fuck I'm doing while I'm not w/ him. Also, who am I to dish out titles to things all willy-nilly? That's what it is, though. I want a man to ram me w/ hard dick & to take out my trash & I want a woman to scissor and who will also do my hair & shop w/ me. Sexist? Yeah. Probably but the heart wants what the heart wants. I just finished up a date w/ a fine southern gentleman that ended in flames (the bad ones) like, why do niggas feel as if the world ended because you accidentally killed the car battery? Uh, like, no shit I would've done things a little differently if I would've know the battery was gonna die. I just got pissed at him asking me questions. Like, what good is a series of dumb ass questions gonna do now that the shit has happened? Not shit. I guess I'm just trying to say men are babies. Very hairy babies. -V. (P.S. Sorry for missing post & neglecting you like a red headed stepchild for the past few days. I just really didn't have anything to talk about, IMO.)

Does Social Media and Governance Works?

Firstly, is to save money for the government as their benefit in return. A traditional outreach is costly because of the materials is needed to be printed out and the workforce needed to distribute the flyers to the public although the government has the budget for it but then they still prefer to used what us the society is on these days to gain their attention on what the government is doing for them which is either to develop a certain part of the country itself or new rules and regulation to manage the public for themselves. In fact, as an example the Unites States roughly spend almost $1.5 Billion per year on public relations and advertising alone.

Secondly, is crisis communication where the social media has transformed the government in communicating with the public because of the users are mostly of social is used by the public to gain news for their knowledge. As an example of why devastating California which decimated more than 150,000 acres of land in November 2018. As destroyed by the inferno was 14,000 homes which it was costly to the government to build back up the parts that are destroyed at the same time governments uses social media to inform or spread what they will do in return to the public. With the social is one of the benefits for the government to inform the public such as promoting evacuation protocols to help those that are impacted by the inferno itself at the same time being able to connect to the civilians with their emergency relief resources. Moreover, being able to provide up to date schedule of evacuating the residents that are affected.

Thirdly, is citizen engagement being also important for the government to approach them to know how happy they are with the governments' action towards them at the same this will also result to double engagement such as:

1.     Able to build trust. Through social media is one of the opportunities for the government to be transparent with them and through opening up to the public which will also help to gain the public’s trust.

2.     The brand is humanized. Often people forget there are actually people behind the government agencies so social media with the given opportunity to engage the public in return.

As an example, where the video posted on the National Park Service’s Instagram account although it is 30 seconds long still the audiences take the opportunity to watch at the video with over 25,000 views made on the page (Tran, T 2019)

My past bum life, and my not-so-bum life right now.

Since graduating last October 11 and even before that, I've been living like a bum. Eat, sleep, internet, and the cycle repeats.

UNTIL LAST WEEK.

My dad forced me to go to his office, knowingly he doesn't have much to do for me. His company is just starting up! and it's all decision decisions. It's not like he's going to let me to make decisions on his precious project.

I'M a bitch I know.

It's just that my dad, is very very judgemental, not to mention racist. and he expects a lot but nothing that surpassess his "own grateness". He's one of those people who hates to admit his mistakes and all that. you know.

BUT HERE WE ARE.

On times that my father is here, he gives me these ridiculous, meaningless tasks. that I don't see what's the use for.

So here I am, tumblring my woes away. 

I'M TOO MUCH OF A LAZY BUM TO FIND A JOB

i'm counting down the days till February, and till then I just need to keep this up for a few months. The other plan is to find an internship (which has no pay and real work) which I am not totally inclined to do right now. It'll be sooo much better if they were to offer compensation. sigh.

Selamat Begi

Beberapa alasan yang membuat gw semangat untuk kembali melaut hari ini:

1. Ini adalah tiga trip terakhir gw di Hibiscus, it means I have to face the consequence from Hello immediately, Goodbye.

2. Dayman in charge nya orang Croatia. Entah kenapa gw merasa lebih nyaman saat dayman gw orang bule, bukan orang Indonesia (aneh gak si gw?)

3. Selamat Begi, yang punya dualitas arti buat gw, dan dua-dua nya membuat gw senyum tiap pagi. Yang pertama merupakan program siaran di prambors yang bisa membuat gw senyum-senyum ga jelas sendiri. Kedua, dayman Croatia gw yang tiap pagi selalu mengucapkan "Selamat Begi" instead of "Selamat Pagi". Sepuluh kali gw kasih tau kalau yang bener itu "Pagi" tapi sepuluh kali juga dia lupa akan hal itu dan tetep bilang "Begi".
