The protagonists of the film are Selena Gomez, Katie Cassidy and Leighton Meester who in the film play three friends who organize a trip to Paris. The film is based on the novel Headhunters by Jules Bass.
Grace Bennett is a high school senior from Texas who works as a waitress with her best friend Emma Perkins to earn money for a trip to Paris after graduation. After admiring the view from the top of the Eiffel Tower, they lose the bus and their tour guide, and to take shelter from the rain they find refuge in the lobby of a luxury hotel where Grace is mistaken by everyone, including the paparazzi, for an heiress Englishwoman named Cordelia Winthrop-Scott. The heiress, however, secretly leaves the hotel to join her friends in Ibiza, so they spend the night in Cordelia's suite and from that moment a new holiday begins for the three friends.
As scheduled in Cordelia's agenda, the three leave together with the heiress' luggage, on a private jet for Monte Carlo where Cordelia must participate in a charity auction for which she must donate an expensive Bulgaria diamond necklace. During a party organized in her honor, Grace meets Cordelia's aunt, Alicia who actually mistakes her for her niece thanks to her incredible resemblance and Emma dances with Domenico, a French prince. When Grace take part in a polo match, Alicia quickly discovers that she is not her niece, who is a real talent in that sport.
The evening before the auction, Prince Domenico invites Emma to a dinner on a yacht. Meanwhile Cordelia sees a photo of her in a newspaper at a party with two girls and after discovering that her necklace is missing, she calls the police.
Cordelia manages to escape and reveals Grace's fraud, also demanding that she be arrested, but after Grace makes a public confession, Aunt Alicia, believing in her good faith, unexpectedly makes a generous offer for the necklace of 6 million euros.
Eventually Meg decides to join Riley on his trip around the world which is on a peak of Machu Picchu; Owen and Emma get married and live in Texas; while Grace volunteers in schools in Romania where she meets her love, Theo.

New(ish) Comics Day:
Superboy: Man of Tomorrow #4: back on the Clones Are People narrative, which, way to hit Kon over the head with the fact he’s a Real Boy, again. Kon! Sweetie! You ARE enough and also ouch if that hurt as much as a Superboy Prime punch. (Also Clark finally, FINALLY notices Kon’s disappeared off into space)
Also oh no. I’m really glad Kon won the Round Robin, but…DC you have a whole Constantine and Etrigan story sitting there that’s this good? HELLO JASON BLOOD I LOVE YOU. Stop making us vote on these things and just give us the goodies.
The New Champion of Shazam #1-3: this was entirely due to reading the Shazam trade last night. It was helpful in providing more context about who these characters are. Mary! This is a very relatable young adult “I’m going to university…oh wait my dreams have to be put on hold because of family commitments” storytelling. It also is clearly, CLEARLY written by someone who loves the whole Shazam family (Hoppy! The way Hoppy is used is hilarious and I’m glad I had the context to enjoy it). I am hoping that after Mary learns about responsible power and the importance of family she DOES get to go back to Vassar though. She was really enjoying it for the 30 seconds she was there before magic intervened and she had to transfer to the local college with the biology professor who is clearly ignoring ethics requirements in her experiments.
The Flash #790: it’s the first issue of One-Minute War! Look! Everyone’s here! Doing their thing! And oh no, OH NO, I adore this Bart and Ace dynamic and I’m now afraid this is the only place it exists.
Warlord #6: truly, reading this comic is like getting a tour of Mike Grell’s brain. Today, Travis Morgan is no longer in Skartaris! He’s visiting a group of very very white archaeologists (from the US, UK, Sweden and the USSR) at Machu Picchu. The one from the USSR is the only woman (Mariah Romanova) and she has red hair and talks about capitalist tricks and oh look we might have a femme fatale/black widow here.
Mariah and Travis get into a shouting match over the fact Travis is from the US military and he admits he flew a spy plane (to spy on USSR treaty violations! he insists) and Mariah calls him “Capitalist Warmonger” and look do I really need to draw the parallels to Grell’s work with Travis’ identical twin who wears green? It’s funny seeing the bearded one on the other side of this dynamic. (Mariah totally goes off to Skartaris with Trevor). Also there’s a cat demon statue that comes to life.

Machu Picchu Adventure: The Journey Back to Cusco
Once we’d finished our tour, Cherry and I walked down the mountain back to Aguas Calientes town where her friend Florence was waiting. The downhill descent was very steep, and Cherry seemed to be having an easier time than me with my bad knee and lack of general fitness! Her and Florence are working as nurses near Manchester which I had kind of expected actually, she said they’d lived there for about 18 years but got funny looks on other tours when they said they’re from the UK so they just say Philippines. We took a couple of breaks when we started sweating a lot but were careful not to sit for too long and have our legs turn to jelly when standing back up. Cherry was really going for it but I was having trouble keeping up so by the end I was a tired mess but she was fine. Luckily there was a water vending machine for just one sol, however unluckily it shut off after pouring only about 150ml of the 500ml I’d ordered! Once we’d reunited Cherry with Florence, I told them I was heading off for some shopping and then went straight to Coffee Trotter for a flat white and phone recharge. It was so nice to sit down in the shade with a coffee and relax for about an hour. A sad street dog wandered in at one point to try his luck but was sprayed at and shooed back out. I walked around the Aguas Calientes market a bit and bought a few little souvenirs and then stamped my passport with the Machu Picchu stamp because I’m such a tourist. I figured that I should get some lunch so I stopped in at Infinity near the train station for a cheese empanada and lemonade which hit the spot nicely. When I got back to the train station I saw Leo and Giada sitting in there so I went over to say hi and they invited me for dinner with some French people they’d met a couple days earlier. The journey back was tiring and I could barely keep my eyes open. Once we finally arrived in Ollantaytambo, the Filipino ladies and I found our names on a sign with loads of other names including loads of Israelis and the South African family. Everyone else arrived except for the family so I tried to explain to the lady to look for parents with a small child and once we were waiting in the van they finally joined us and he was asleep in his mothers arms. It was a long drive back to Cusco with a crazy driver that didn’t stop at stop signs, overtook a police checkpoint, and almost rear ended some standstill traffic. The Israelis in the front asked to get out on a tight side street and the driver let them out thinking it was just the two but no of course there were another 5 or 6 in the back who got out too and left the door wide open so the driver had to get out and close it. Once I got back to the hostel I rearranged all my bags and then took advantage of the wifi to figure out what happened to my Revolut card. Of course, it was not enough to trap all my money on there but now it had a fraudulent transaction on it which meant I had to cancel the card and order a new one after using it for literally two transactions in Peru. I decided to get it sent to my hotel in La Paz and hopefully be there at the same time it would arrive. Although I was exhausted I went out for dinner as agreed with Leo and Giada and met their friends, a French couple named Ines and Jean-Baptiste. I’d waited almost 15 minutes for Leo and Giada to show up and was minutes away from bailing and going to McDonald’s but they showed up and we all went to Limo together in the central Plaza de Armas. It was a Japanese Peruvian fusion restaurant but we all went for the Thai style food - I chose the Arroz Thai with beef which was a delicious stir fry of vegetables, rice and beef. It was a more upscale restaurant for Peru but still didn’t cost too much once the bill arrived for my meal and a passionfruit mocktail, about 70 soles or $20.

Exploring the Lares Trek Distance: A Journey Through Peru's Hidden Gem
Tumblr media
When it comes to trekking in Peru, the Inca Trail often steals the spotlight. However, for those seeking a more off-the-beaten-path adventure, the Lares Trek is an exceptional alternative. This trek not only offers stunning landscapes and rich cultural experiences but also allows for a more intimate encounter with the Andean way of life. In this blog, we'll explore the Lares Trek distance and why it should be on your travel bucket list.
Understanding the Lares Trek Distance
The Lares Trek distance varies depending on the specific route chosen, but it typically spans around 33 to 40 kilometers (20 to 25 miles). This distance is spread over three to four days, making it a manageable yet rewarding challenge for trekkers of varying fitness levels. The trek begins in the Sacred Valley and winds its way through picturesque villages, lush valleys, and high mountain passes, eventually concluding at the iconic Machu Picchu.
Day-by-Day Breakdown of the Lares Trek Distance
Day 1: Cusco to Lares Hot Springs The journey begins with a scenic drive from Cusco to the village of Lares. Here, trekkers can relax and acclimate to the altitude by soaking in the natural hot springs. The trekking starts with a gentle hike to the first campsite, covering approximately 6 kilometers (3.7 miles). This introductory leg of the trek offers a taste of the beautiful landscapes and prepares you for the days ahead.
Day 2: Lares Hot Springs to Huacahuasi The second day is one of the most challenging but also the most rewarding. Trekkers will cover around 16 kilometers (10 miles), ascending to the Ipsaycocha Pass at 4,450 meters (14,600 feet). The climb is steep, but the panoramic views of the Andean peaks and the chance to visit remote indigenous communities make it all worthwhile.
Day 3: Huacahuasi to Patacancha On this day, the trail descends into the valley, leading to the village of Patacancha. The distance covered is about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). Along the way, you'll pass through traditional villages where locals still practice ancient weaving techniques and agricultural methods. This cultural immersion is a highlight of the Lares Trek distance.
Day 4: Patacancha to Ollantaytambo and Train to Machu Picchu The final trekking day is shorter, covering around 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) to the town of Ollantaytambo. From here, a scenic train ride takes you to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu. The excitement builds as you prepare to explore one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
Why Choose the Lares Trek?
The Lares Trek distance may be shorter than some other trekking routes, but what it lacks in length, it makes up for in cultural richness and natural beauty. This trek offers a more secluded and serene experience compared to the busier Inca Trail. You'll encounter fewer tourists and have more opportunities to interact with local communities, gaining insights into their traditional way of life.
Moreover, the diverse landscapes, from high-altitude passes to verdant valleys, provide a constantly changing and visually stunning backdrop to your journey. The Lares Trek also allows for a more flexible itinerary, with options to customize the route based on your preferences and fitness level.
Alpaca Expeditions: Your Trusted Guide
For those interested in embarking on the Lares Trek, Alpaca Expeditions is a top choice. They offer expertly guided tours that ensure you experience the trek safely and comfortably. Their knowledgeable guides provide valuable insights into the local culture and history, enhancing your overall experience.
Alpaca Expeditions also prioritizes sustainable and responsible tourism. They work closely with local communities, ensuring that your visit has a positive impact on the region. With their well-organized logistics and attention to detail, you can focus on enjoying the journey without any worries.
In conclusion, the Lares Trek distance may be just a number, but the experiences and memories you'll gain along the way are immeasurable. This trek is a perfect blend of adventure, culture, and natural beauty, offering a unique perspective on the Peruvian Andes. Whether you're an experienced hiker or a first-time trekker, the Lares Trek is an unforgettable journey that should not be missed.

Most Amazing Adventure Ever
We chose the 7 day/6 night Salkantay to Inca Trail trek. All I can say is it was not even close to what we expected. After reading the website many times and asking tons of questions, which were always answered promptly by the sales team, we were provided an experience that could not have been described on a website. First, we thought we would be in a group of other trekkers like similar companies that made their clients wear their logos on their backpacks the whole way. This was not our case. We met our guide the night before and he explained our trek to us thoroughly. It was then we realized we would be guided through the Andes Mountains and Peruvian Jungles with our own private guide, chef and later, team of 5 porters. We felt like royalty. The hard work and care that this team of 6 people put in to making our trip remarkable is nothing like we have ever experienced.
My boyfriend and I have enjoyed many challenging hiking trips together over the years, but this trek is no joke! Lots of elevation gain and huge steps. Extremely difficult for me but so worth it. Our guide Jorge Sanchez was not only knowledgeable about the area, ruins, culture and hiking but he also immediately got to know how we hiked. He observed our pace and stamina and made changes on the fly to better accommodate our needs. The campgrounds he chose for us were even better than the ones listed on the website. Jorge had an amazing sense of humor that also made our private trip so much more fun. He became a brother to us on this trip. Now, I haven’t even mentioned the food. Chef Nico created “Inca Magic” each meal. I have never eaten so many wonderful meals in my life. Not only was the food delicious but Nico’s presentation of the food, and table setting shows what a Michelin style chef he is, even for only 2 hikers in the middle of the Andes. There was unexpected snow pack in an area where we were supposed to camp, so a quick revision was made and Jorge and Chef Nico created a space in the snow for the most epic picnic lunch overlooking glaciers. My photos cannot describe the magic that happened on the trail those 7 days but I can assure you that Inka Trail Expeditions was a perfect choice above its competitors that I researched. We thought we were going for the purpose of seeing Machu Picchu via a hiking experience but what we ended up getting was an experience of royalty and Machu Picchu was only the cherry on the top.
