If people are curious on why I'm so fucked at the moment and need like a mountain of distractions
I don't have an escape at home
When my grandparents moved to Nevada my mother, Rich (my mom's partner basically husband) and my brother moved into a small two bedroom apartment
Fast forward to last year or the year before I can't think Rich had a stroke and my mom was about to leave him for being verbally abusive but before that she tore her acl and was out of work kind of ruining that then he got sick
Rich is incredibly verbally abusive to me and my mother. He had the stroke, and my mom blamed herself. She took care of him went to ever hospital vist did his health insurance the whole fucking 9 yards (this is a man who has not stepped in an doctors office in 10 years up to this point because doctors are scams and herbs will cure everything)
My mom. Did everything for him medicine, insurance, doctors visits, and even kept him in touch with his family and three kids
He had surgery like maybe 3 or 4 weeks ago to get a cath put in because the veins in his head were not getting better and the doctors said it was a fucking miracle he didn't have another stroke between this
He's home a week and then he gets an infection and back in a hospital for another week my mother been by his side the entire fucking time barely sleeping or eating and still working 60plus hours at work
Back home again my mom is caring for him even helping the home nurse with his tube's for antibacterial meds
Rich accuses my mom of cheating because she was texting the doctor
My mom then blames herself and I'm scared to go home to face Rich by myself so I'm taking a extra shift at shoprite to not go home
Rich also doesn't allow me to close my door to my room unless the sun goes down
Added stress's i barely scrape by paycheck to paycheck. I have less than 200$ to my name, a phone bill coming up, and I work every day of the week. I work three jobs two part time and one full time
I don't drive and public transport is not reliable where I am
Hence why I've been asking for commissions
I can't run and hide to my sisters because I can't afford the train upstate
My dad said he has no room to house me
And I don't really have any safe place to go or really anyone to talk to to distract me
Yesterday was a beautiful day for hiking. The full sunshine poked dramatically through the canopy of trees making for photogenic pools of light.
I took my new Panasonic S5IIx and mounted a 60plus year old Nikkor 180mm f2.8. Normally I take wide angle lenses hiking but decided to challenge myself. I wanted to see differently.
I’m happy with the results. The compression turned mundane images dramatic and added a layer of mystery by excluding more than it included.
Now that I can run act 3 at 60plus fps and can joyfully explore the city, and talk to as many as I can: I am starting to feel deep regret this city is fucked

This winter Asda is offering a new winter warmer scheme which will allow those aged 60plus a 1pound in store café meal deal. The supermarket aims to help some of its most vulnerable customers in response to the current cost of living crisis. In any of the 205 cafes run by the supermarket chain, the meal package, includes soup, a bread roll, and unlimited tea or coffee. The deal is available all through from November to December.
The new initiative runs alongside “kids eat for 1 pound”, which continues to be immensely popular, with more than 557,000 meals served since the offers launch in late June.
The supermarket announced the decision to implement this "winter warmer" project after their "Income Trackers" revealed that consumers between the ages of 65 and 74 had a £163 decrease in disposable income in August, compared to 2021.
Findings from Age UK statistics has shown that an estimate of 2.8 million homes will still be amongst fuel poverty this winter, in spite of the governments freezing of the energy price cap.
Asda co-owner, Mohsin Issa, has said: “We know that this winter is set to be incredibly hard for thousands of pensioners as they worry about how to keep themselves warm in the face of rising living costs and a fixed income. We’ve already been able to serve over half a million meals through our Kids Eat for £1 initiative in our cafes and we’re hoping our new offer of soup and hot drinks for over 60s will prove just as impactful for those who need it most. Meanwhile, the cost of living grant programme led by Asda’s charity The Asda Foundation will support grassroots organisations who are providing a lifeline in their communities during these tough times.”
The supermarket is also implementing a "Community Cuppa" campaign at its cafes by giving community organisation’s a place to meet that would otherwise be difficult owing to increased electricity prices. Meetups will be available from November through to December, on weekdays between 2pm to 6pm. A free cup of coffee or tea will be provided to all visitors to the community group.
Additionally, to providing support for pensioners, the Asda foundation is providing 500k in funding to help community organizations struggling with rising operating costs.
Up to £2000 in individual grants will be available and priority will be given to groups and charities that need financial help for increased energy costs or for creating warm banks in their facilities. These Warm banks are places where people can stay warm throughout the winter if they can’t afford to keep their homes heated all year round.
