Ranking Skam remakes based off of ✨issues✨ I had with them part 2.

Lmao like everyone hated when I did this like 2 years ago so here’s the updated version.

Ps. This is in no way shape or form meant to offend anyone or anything because at the end of the day it's just my opinion and it really isn’t that relevant. So if you think I have no idea what I’m talking abt, it is what it is.

I was going to finish this like 4 months ago, but I completely forgot it existed and I’m terribly lazy. Anyways…I love italia. Sorry.

7. Skam France 🇫🇷

Um where do I start? I feel like personally the show fell off around the 5th season and has just been unsuccessfully trying to regain that ✨je ne sais quoi✨that it used to have.

The character writing was also extremely inconsistent and I’ve never shyed away from calling out the writing for drastically changing characters to fit the current storyline.

Imane’s character was extremely underdeveloped in my opinion and her season felt more of an obligation than it did a desired project. There are so many sides to being Muslim in France nowadays and they opted out on giving a quite generic view on that.

All in all this show still feels very forced. The new generation especially. They’ve darkened the show a lot which I’m not opposed to, but they don’t always execute it very well.

6. Austin 🇺🇸

The amount of hate I got the first time around for criticizing the show…eek.

The show in my opinion, maybe it was just me but it felt awkward. And not in a cute charming way like the OG, but in a it felt weird to watch way. Maybe it’s cuz I’m used to typical American shows and this one was an American show trying a European narrative but still making it American. I don’t know.

The chemistry was atrocious. I’m really sorry. But Grace and Daniel were cute but their chemistry was kind of weak. Not to mention the girl squad? They sometimes hardly felt like “best friends” at all, but I wanna give props to Jo for being the glue of the group.

Zoya was boring. There was no depth to her character. I won’t blame the acting because I feel like the actress did what she was told to do. Her character just felt out of place. She came off colder than Sana and we never got a chance to see her grow all that much.

I really didn’t like Kacey. I know that’s the point, but the other Vilde remakes were all bearable, some of them are even my favourite characters but Kacey?? Gosh no.

Last point but how dare they cancel it before Shay’s season? She would’ve been the first wlw main representation but that fell through and instead we got Cris from Espana (no tea no shade, I would’ve just liked seeing a fellow gay black woman become a main)

5. Wtfock 🇧🇪

Now let me tell you something, it hurts putting Wtfock here but I have to. She’s my favourite remake but she’s also very iffy.

Kato. I won’t even elaborate because you ALL already know.

The little racist comments in the show that would go unpunished or not talked about unless Yasmina stood up for pocs??

Zoë as much as I loved her, was really annoying towards the end. She was constantly contradicting her earlier unchanging morals. The writers made her somewhat unlikeable tbh.

JANA???? Where did she go?? Why was she replaced by a literal racist??

The whole “Blonde Ambition” name sounds like something my black ass would steer clear of and yet people couldn’t fathom how Yasmina was very uncomfortable around them??

Yasmina’s entire season irritated me because instead of focusing on the actual Islamophobia present they decided Yasmina’s the one being sensitive and she has to forgive her very ignorant white friends.

Moyo went from being the most disliked character, to a somewhat decent guy and then to the victim of a toxic toxic relationship, to an idiot, and then back to one of the most disliked characters simply because the writers f*cked up really bad.

And I’ll die on the hill that if anything season 4 should’ve been about Noor.

Fuck Britt. Like truly. How is she the antagonist in three separate seasons and people still wanted to be her friend?? En tout cas c’est pas mon problème 🙄

4. Skam NL 🇳🇱

Ok hear me out, this remake was crazy unique and super aesthetically pleasing but take away all the jazz and it’s quite plain.

There are major plot holes that to this day I can’t wrap my head around. Like where did Jaden come from? No one explained what happened to Imaan? Though I love her, why add Ezra? It felt very weird to replace her like that.

Kes man you’re gorgeous but you’re an absolute fucking idiot. Isa deserved better from the get go.

Noah is such a random character, like I get it, but I don’t. He’s dreamy and artsy and witty but what else??? He was so bland it made him and Liv’s relationship fall short for me personally.

I don’t know, at the end of the day, this remake is like that super cute girl that’s always really social over text but when you first start talking in person she’s really really dry and it just kills the mood for you.

3. España 🇪🇸

Personally, it’s not my favourite but I can’t say it wasn’t one of the better executed remakes.

I don’t necessarily have anything bad to say except for maybe the dragging out of the Nora and Alejandro storyline. I completely understand why they changed Nora’s season but most skam fans love the second season because it highlights their relationship but instead we got breadcrumbs and then bam they were together and then they weren’t? I do like the change but I still feel like because of how long it took, it wasn’t as impactful. But again, Nora’s season was baller.

2. Druck 🇩🇪

The fandom is a very interesting place. Very “we want pocs, we want lgbtq+ rep” which I love but guys, don’t hate on a character cuz they’re straight and white. Like I get Mailin is annoying like 90% of the time but she’s a very realistic character and changing her to be perfect wouldnt make any sense.

Constantin?? He’s like the toxic make equivalent to Britt and no, I don’t want to hear any Constantin apologists cuz he’s honestly so rude and condescending and just an all around mean person and I can’t fathom why people constantly forgive him? Like I understand people go through stuff, but he’s just rude to almost everyone and says such stupid stuff.

Though I love Sascha, Isi was a horrible friend to him and they should’ve had to deal with those consequences longer because they put Sascha through a lot and he deserves better. Also, the season was super rushed and so we never really got to see the depths of their relationships.

Mia and Alex had amazing chemistry but gosh those kisses were hard to watch. They had zero chemistry when it came to romantic scenes but they were amazing to watch when they were just being themselves, talking and bantering.

The music is over the top. Like why is there Doja Cat in almost every episode and what happened to the songs that correlated to the plot?? I get the whole staying current thing but pls whyyyyy?

I think they showed Tiff as a rather determined girl who knows what she wants and what she needs. I think it's a little too late for a proper love triangle like we're used to. I really don't see Tiff hesitating between Aurélien and Max. The only thing I could see happening is that Aurélien misinterprets some signs and make a move. But I'm not even sure they're going that route. In the clip in the hospital, Tiff is listening to Moïra's version of bzz bzz la mouche, which means they're on speaking terms. Why would she suddenly - and now - doubt her feelings for Max?

Everything is possible but I'm expecting something like a few clips showing tension between Max and Aurélien that would resolve with a heart to heart discussion about their own insecurities and finally finding balance to be there for Moïra.

I'm sorry but skam france not thanking Ayumi for her work in season 9? When she was the main actress? And now the whole cast winning an award for the show, but her not being present and nobody even mentioning her when the last season was hers? This at the same time Aicha (ava from druck) spoke out about people in her line of work forcing her to stay silent about white priviledge, when druck not only sidelided Ava in season 7 but gave season 8 to another white character that had no backstory at all?

It's clear druck and skam france are clearly not treating their woc actresses well or giving the respect they deserve, so in all honesty? fuck them both for that and fuck their new seasons. Do not give them any more views.

I hope Aicha and Ayumi know how loved they are by the audience and get to be recognized in much better projects.

Goddddddd if that stuff about the Skam France showrunners wanting to write their own version of Normal People for their Maya season is true, then Skam versions truly have lost the fucking plot. (I can't very well call Skam France a Skam remake at this point when over half of its seasons are not a remake, but original farting writing.)

Like Ally said here, the goals for Skam were to strengthen teenage girls' self-esteem through dismantling taboos, making them aware of interpersonal mechanisms and showing them the benefits of confronting their fears. But like, also, Skam was created by a whole ass department, not just Julie Andem. Julie Andem was a writer (that was her job title in NRK despite having already been showrunner of several shows) who was sent to interview teen girls in order to know what they needed. But she was sent by a specific NRK department whose purpose was to create educational content for kids and teens. Julie Andem herself commented on that when she made the announcement that she'd be doing Skam Austin: she didn't come up with the Skam characters all by herself. There were discussions on which demographics in Norway they wanted to target and represent. If Skam entertained and educated people outside of Norway, that was all well and good, but their primary goal was to reach teenage girl demographics in Norway who they had noticed needed help, and the characters were conceptualized, developed and cast based on those findings.

What I mean to say is that this was hardly an ego project on Julie's part (and in fact she wasn't paid for the sale of the rights to the 7 countries, that is the extent to which she had no ownership of the characters and stories). It's not like she could watch Hannibal or Empire or Mr. Robot or Orange is the New Black (just to name a few shows that were big when Skam was first developed) and be like, "Oh, I want my teenies to be serial killers or inmates or hackers or music artists in the next season, because I'm kinda bored of this educational shit and I want to deal with themes these other shows explore. And maybe add that to my resume!"

When a Skam showrunner is like, "eh, I don't want to comfort my audience, I want to be grimdark and mean and heart-wrenching for art's sake, to be like these other creators who get to do the fun stuff this educational show doesn't allow me to do," that is 100% an ego thing. It's putting their own priorities as creators above that of helping teenage girls, which was always the point of Skam. Fuck, that IS why it's called Skam. And that's when a Skam season inevitably goes wrong, when other concerns come into play. See: Yann abandoning Lucas on that bench (not ~Disneyland~), any Sana season (islamophobia plain and simple), Tiff's and Bilal's and Maya's seasons (art over audience) or Kato (making ca$h money through Kato's endorsements as an influencer).

These people woke up one day and were like, "I am soooo fucking bored of Mr. Rogers being so wholesome. Why don't we write a divorce storyline where his wife cheats on him and he turns to pills????? I saw that on Breaking Bad!"

Ykw only today i started to heal a little but this shirley's message once again made me f mad. There were 2 women 1 of them is lesbian. Ppl trusted them so the damage they made is much more painful. They not only disappointed skam audience who is about "alt er love". but they betrayed lgbt viewers. now we can't trust even the woman from our community. And the target audience are teens and i can't imagine how they're feeling rn even if adults are heartbroken. (1/3)

And when we look back it's clear how they made hints on mayla endgame in their sm and even on officical account with all these "purple is always the warmest color" and posting mayla's happy pictures and liking posts about mayla endgame. Even the whole synopsis of the s9 which was "will Lola come back"!! It's more than cruel and couldn't be excused. They knew everything from the start but intentionally chose this behavior which hurts more in the end. (2/3)

i never trusted them after 7/8, but part of me did think like...is it possible 1/2 of them being queer + maya easily being the most popular main they could pick = they'll put more effort into this, bc it'll be a passion project (something S might've wanted to see herself as a teen), and something they know will draw in more attention, so the quality will be slightly better than the last 2 to impress audiences and critics? and i do think on a technical level, they put more effort into it than 7/8. but things like fancy cinematography and editing and an original soundtrack means literally nothing if the script is shit and this season is so cynically empty; paper thin but wrapped up in a pretty bow.

creator & fandom interactions in general is complex but this absolutely was baiting. i can maaybe accept the “just supporting fans and enjoying the engagement” excuse with liking theories etc, but she literally liked tweets about them being endgame for ten weeks? and like, she joined twitter just for s9. she purposefully created an account to spend ten weeks interacting with fans (even taking their quizzes, even following some, even bantering with them). responsibilities of the writing itself aside, you have a responsibility as a showrunner - and specifically running a show about and for young people - to behave appropriately around them, and encouraging parasocial relationships between you and them isn’t that. and to do all of that and then...get mad when fans talk to you like you’re on their level? no i don’t think people should send death threats but a) you fostered an environment where casual interaction and even quasi-friendship was encouraged, and b) genuine criticism faaaar outweights the threats, and focusing only on the latter whilst deflecting blame and dismissing the former is just. such an obvious tactic lmao.

i think they anticipated anger (they said as much in that interview), but just about the breakup, like it’d only be upset shippers. i genuinely believe that they genuinely believe what they delivered was a satisfying, earned, and well-written ending to maya (and mayla)’s arc, because this is something 7/8 did too: ten weeks of misery interspersed with tiny moments of levity before absolute rock bottom in week 9 followed by a magical fix and sudden happiness. they have zero idea how to balance light vs dark moments and zero awareness of what’s needed to wrap things up successfully, and pacing in general. but like, at least tiff and bilal got what they wanted, no matter how rushed or unearned or badly written (custody, love, a job, friendship, reunited family, accommodation). maya was catatonic on a couch for two days, in the midst of a depressive episode, got hugged once and then suddenly all her trauma vanished and she’s fine despite not getting anything. despite being in almost the exact same place she started in s6 and not really changing even though we’re told she has. and them not seeing why people are mad about that and dismissing it as only shippers just angry...i’m not surprised but it is still forever disappointing lol.

There have been so many well loved projects with an antagonist in the leading role that it seems too reductive to say that skam fans can't handle it. I really don't think that's the main issue here. There are fans who instantly took to s7 bc of isi's looks and there are fans who immediately locked into the season once they saw the high potential of ismail with sascha. But for everyone else, a good script is essential. S7 is not the worst writing of the skamverse, but it's the worst from DRUCK

Oh I agree this season is for sure the worse written but its not for lack of topic or even talent its just simple things like I still dont really get Isi motivations and we are on episode 7. Its taken a very long time to get us to get some perspective into isi's thinking and honestly the kid is just a bit of an idiot. Makes terrible decision, continues to make terrible decisions and is pretty entitled. I get isi is a teenager but man is this kid hard to root for. I agree on the fact that a lot of people will forgive a lot of his shit just so they could have the sashmail ending they all want is a bit concerning. I like sascha too but isi in no way have or form deserves someone like sascha. Isi just needs to mature as a human being before deciding to be anyone's partner. And I agree alot of people will give Isi someone who is relatively a good looking youngin alot of slack but that for me isnt enough. This script is just so wishy washy and its taken forever to get any legs from it. I am hoping that maybe we can go full speed these last couple of episodes and get some clear outcomes but my biggest fear is maybe we have one more queer youth center scene and thats the end of that. Like thats gonna kill me if thats all we get. I want isi to really start exploring some of the topics posed by david and that he has been feelings. Also I want to see isi discuss how he is feeling with his family as well. We have alot we can touch am just not sure these writers are gonna give us much.

Show Recommendations Non-Thai BL:

A list of shows I’ve watched or am currently watching (Aka not including things I haven’t started yet) for @zouisalmightie 

China- The Untamed (50 Episodes, Netflix, Viki, WeTv):The series follows the adventures of two soulmate cultivators who travel to solve a series of mysteries that link to a tragic event in the past.  Plot heavy story, Lots of characters, due to Chinese censorship lots of homoerotic symbolism and subtext. The leads of the show sing the OST and it's beautiful, Wang Yibo and Xiao Zhan are both members of Idol groups. Korea- Where Your Eyes Linger (9 Episodes, Youtube, VikiPass): The series follows a chaebol and his friend/unofficial bodyguard. This is one of Korea's first forays into BL series. It's short, but has decent pacing and plot.  Mr. Heart (9 Episode, Youtube, VikiPass): The series follows two boys, one that is training/running a marathon, and the other who is his pacemaker (helps him stay in the same pace). It's short, sweet and to the point. I'm really fond of one of the boys because he was on Produce X 101. Philippines- Gameboys (13 Episodes, Youtube): First Bl Drama to come from the Philippines. Follows a live-stream gamer and his fan—who found each other online during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic and the Luzon Island community quarantine. This one is a bit cheesy at first but does get better, it is however a little bit sad (TW. a death due the pandemic, not the leads.) A season 2 is in the works. Hello Stranger (8 Episodes, Youtube): Amidst the lockdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, two college boys cross paths for a school project. Jock/Nerd Trope/Hate to Love. I actually enjoyed this one more than Gameboys, but I'm in the minority I think. The leads have amazing chemistry (or kilig in Tagalog). A movie is in the works. 

In Between (14 Episodes, Youtube): The most important part in a relationship is not the hello or the goodbye but the In Between.  This is about the boys' love (BL) story of Taurus and Otep. Friends to Lovers Trope. While the show is mean’t to be about Taurus/Otep I actually fell in love with the sidestory of Ronin and Makisig more. And I was disappointed that in the end we didn’t get really much of anything for them (unless there’s a planned season 2 that I somehow missed knowing about.) 

My Day (11/14 Episodes, (Airing Currently), Youtube): A romantic comedy series about a young determined culinary intern named Sky making his way into a multi-billion-dollar food company and his boss Ace. Some of this show didn't really hit the mark ie. the writing was very lacking amongst other issues for me but I'm sticking it out because the leads have amazing chemistry and I'm glad I did because it has one of the best intimate scenes that has come from a show this year. (I'm still very much not over it) Quaranthings (7/8 Episodes, (Airing Currently), Youtube): follows the friendship of two boys, and the love that will blossom between them while on community quarantine. Roommates to Lovers Trope. I'm really enjoying this drama even though it makes me want to bang my head on the wall, Judah's character irritates me (also in the minority here). GAYA SA PELIKULA aka Like in the Movies (5/8 Episodes, (Airing Currently), Youtube):  tells us about Karl, a 19-year-old recluse architecture student in the middle of an identity crisis and his new roommate. This just started so I don't have much thoughts about this one so far, but it's been decent.

I have other BL’s I would include but I wasn’t sure if you’ve already seen them (Skam, Yuri on Ice, american BL’s Etc.) I also plan on doing a post about Thai BL’s but there’s to many to include on this post.

understanding me

this evening, one of my best friends, emma, will be watching skam with me for the first time. 

when we were first getting to know each other, a little over a year ago on the almost always vacant floor of the department store we worked at together, we would talk for hours without interruption. most of our conversations were centered around asking each other about our opinions on topics, or listing out favorites of different types of things. one conversation i can distinctly remember was when she asked me to name 5 tv shows that have shaped me the most as i grew. instantly only two came to mind, and i racked my brain for another half hour or so trying to think of another few to add to the list while she completed a task. however, i could only confidently name those original two. sure, i had grown up on prime early 2000s disney channel, and in middle school i stayed up on school nights secretly watching gossip girl on my ipod touch. but nothing else could i look in the mirror and see the lasting effects of today.

the first show was the rachel zoe project. i had a young mom who was obsessed with reality tv as it dominated the 2000s networks and she watched probably any one you could name, whether it was a classic still on today like teen mom, or a random oxygen channel one only 3 people tuned into. the rachel zoe project followed a prominent celebrity stylist in LA and i credit it 100% with my life long love for fashion. the way they talked about clothes spoke right to my barely developed 7 year old soul and to this day i feel a deep connection to the way i dress and fashion as an art form. i even was convinced until very recently that i would work in the fashion industry my entire life, all though that is a different post for another day.

the second was skam. i found it through tumblr, on my old account long deleted, when noora’s season was airing. of course it was those infamous frames of them laying in bed that were everywhere. when i finally got a hold of a google drive file to watch the translated first season, i finished it in two days, only stopping for school. the moment it grabbed me was when they used a world alone in the second episode. and the moment it had me forever was the infamous clip of all of the girls walking into the party, dick in the air by peaches scoring the moment. as i caught up to the airing season, a new love blossomed for me as i watched the clips and instagram posts roll up in real time.

the lasting effect of skam i see in my reflection today. my bleached hair is a direct pull from noora. the light wash jeans and button ups that take up the majority of my wardrobe, the light grey overcoat i found a few weeks into my obsession on sale at h&m. if i wear lipstick its only red. nowadays noora amalie sætre doesn’t dominate by everyday life, but from 2016-2018 she had me in a chokehold. every outfit was pulled from her and i chopped my gorgeous long hair and curtain bangs into a short platinum bob. skam even snuck its way into a poetry anthology i had to write for my final project in Pre AP Lit, where i mentioned it in my forward focused on the lack of realistic and relatable teen media.

skam is a big key into understanding me, who i was years ago and who i am now. i am so excited to share it with her, and if i decided to share it with you, know it means you are important. 

ps this is the first time i’ve written anything long since high school so don’t critique its quality just absorb its meaning  :)

Interviewer: Where are you at the moment?

Flav: I’m at home, in my room

Ayumi: I’m at my country house in my room. [Her friend joined her there when deconfinement happen and now they’re living their best life. There’s sun and everything is good]

Is it not too frustrating to live this 6th season in confinement and SKAM France has a reputation of having very involved fans and with the screenings?

A: Yes, its very frustrating but then again it’s something that I haven’t really lived the projections with the fans so I dont know what it does. But just the feedback of social media is incredible. Its a good preview at what can happen in a live screening.

F: Yea I agree. It is frustrating but seeing everyone on social media is kind of reassuring and comforting and like Ayumi said, we dont know that [the screenings] so its not that frustrating.

what kind of reactions have you guys had on social media?

[flav and ayumi arguing who goes first. Its the cutest thing ever. Flav always wants ayumi to go first]

A: Just love and positivity. On my end is really incredible. I thank everyone. It’s really just incredible.

F: Its so wonderful. At night, I really try to read all the dms on instagram and even if I cant respond to everyone, know that I read everything and I translate everything that isn’t in French. If I  were to reply to everyone, it would take a long time so that’s not possible. I dont speak all the languages of the world so I copy and paste is translate to understand.

I: we were talking about fan reactions so let’s continue. Have you gotten any that made you surprised, laugh, smile, made you emotional, etc?

A: what is beautiful is that ive gotten many messages from girls and boys who said that they had similar a similar relationship to Lola and Maya in the sense that one helps the other more because of addiction problems. And that’s always nice to hear that they just wanted to thank skam for writing and portraying this kind of story. And of course the reaction of la mif. It’s true the character Jo has been loved by fans. She is so funny and so great and she’s [actress who plays jo, louise] really like that in real life. Like literally from A to Z

Flav agrees.

A: “Louise just played Louise” and it’s just so funny. And everyone online says they want to be friends with jo becuase she made this joke pr did that but she’s really like that.

F: she’s always joking

A: and she just comes up with stuff on the spot

I: we really just can’t wait to see La Mif reunite and see how they are in real life because they are just awesome on screen.

I: Maya’s arrival to the season that was a little intense, let’s not lie, is like a ray of light. What does that do to you for having that role of the character who brings light and wonder? (This is kinda hard to translate)

A: its incredible to bring that kind of message, like you said, this light. She is totally this kind of girl that I would love to be friend with. It’s hard to explain. It’s just so beautiful. Maybe flav has something to say.

F: it’s true that you and La Mif brought a light for everyone. Even me when I see my family and close ones they say that they are so funny and new and that they felt my pain [as lola] even if its a show and its feels weird to see you like that because you’re close to us but seeing them [lola + la mif] is a good mix. And ayumi you bring so much like when your face lights up when Lola comes up the stairs its incredible.

A: its a chemical reaction. Its incredible. But flav I saw you on screen and everything that you brought, what David saw. And we lived it but for us it seems natural and on screen and rediscovered the characters and the chemistry at the same time as everyone else.

Flav and Ayumi saying that they havent seen the whole thing before hand and are constantly check their phone for new clips. They have the notifications for the YouTube channel.

F: we at least have the hours for the clips AT LEASTT and thankfully

A: which flav sent me because I didnt have them and she left me panicked for 2 weeks and then she finally sent them over.

F: its great. They’re on my fridge and I cross off each day with my parents and we are one it. My dad everyday is like there’s a clip. So funny.

I: Just so we’re on the same page, there’s a clip today right?

I: [fan question] what do you love the most and the least in the character you play?

A: flav please start

F: I love her “who the fuck are you talking to me like that” and her fuck you attitude. I love that she shows off that nothing moves her but deep down not really, like everyone I guess. I love that about her and she’s so natural. I love her, I really love her. Something negative. That’s hard.

I: you are a very happy, bubbly person. Is there not her depressed, dark side that bothers you?

F: well lola is just full of emotions where we’re going to see everything. But really what I dont like is her fashion sense.

A: im dead. But I was going to say the same thing

F: maya’s fashion sense? You are crazy. And also girl it’s your clothes they used as costumes

A: no no but people have made edits with you know the big pink coat or my outfit at the supermarket and its there that I realised how ridiculous even if they not really.

F: well I think theyre great. Love the pink coat

A: ill send it to you with fedex. I dont have it but ill send it to you.

F: when we were doing costume fittings I told the costume designer that it was simple and that I would be stealing all of these looks. Im going to take a suitcase, im going to take ayumi’s clothes, put them in my suitcase and go back to Vance with them. And I took nothing from lola by the way. She just doesn’t have a style. She doesn’t neglect herself but its her I dont care attitude, again.

A; I love maya’s engagement and her will towards everything and everyone. Shes a teenager but that’s beautiful to be engaged in many causes. She just really wants everyone, her friends, to be well and happy. But otherwise things I dont like outside of her clothes I dont know. Clothes is like the best answer

F: you forgot about her makeup. The makeup artist did her eyeliner and dots under the eyes and I was there like do the same thing with me!

A: that is really the best thing in all of humanity. It was so cool.

F: honestly. The makeup artist gave everything on you but on me she went in the morning like poof poof ‘well that’s it honey, there’s nothing else I can do for you’

A: you forgot the drama hair!

F: oh my god. She would pour oils and everything you want on my head. “You could like cook French fries”

A: flavie says that but you know she can wear whatever she wants and still look good

F: awe I love you

I: Did the age difference between you hinder your ability to be friends?

A: no not at all. What do you think flav?

F: not at all. Im just the baby of the group, im the youngest but we all so dumb together that we don’t realise

A: exactly. We all act like we’re 7

F: all of us together is horrible. The whole mif. Intolerable.

I: how was youre guy’s first meet?

F: ok let me tell you from my point of view because its quite funny.

A: she was so annoying. She looked at me all weird. she was not cool No that’s not true at all. She was adorable. Trop cute

F: I arrive to the production offices and im with David signing contracts and he says don’t move I have a surprise. And im like oh no what has he brought me a croissant or something and he brings back ayumi. So we start talking for like 10 minutes and I did not who she was actually. And I was like who tf is this. I did not know. And im one point im like so she’s the one who plays Maya? It was so funny. It was cool. And then he brought Maxence

A: from my point of view, flavie was so shy and locked off. And I knew who she was and I was honoured and thrill. She was so small and closed off. But honestly NOT AT ALL. i quickly understood the next day that flavie is a bomb! You understand ?

F: at first maybe you were like “I just want to protect this little thing.”

I: so what was the first scene that you guys filmed together?

Ayumi makes it clear that it’s a scene that hasn’t been released yet. And Flavie can’t remember what it is.

A: flav, you are putting our whole relationship in question!

F: I just dont know!

A: ok but the second scene we did together was the scene of Saturday morning after the first urban party

F: OHHH you right! I remember now!

I: but that’s a great scene that fans loved because of the chemistry and people loved it. How did you create that complexity? Was it the writing or did you try to meet up on your own?

F: honestly, not that much because the problem is that I live in Vance. We really tried to see each other but trains made it difficult to see each other just us two, but it still worked somehow. We worked a lot with David but not so much just us too and yet we still manage to create something really strong and powerful.

A: in between scenes we also just talked all the freaking time. And by the time David said action, it was like we just finishing our conversation in the scene.

F: every morning we were always happy to see each other and we didn’t see each other that much but that honestly wasn’t a problem at all.

I: in the YouTube comments, everyone is slightly making fun of flavie for living so “far”

A: [also starts making fun of flavie] oh yea yea basically 45 minutes.

F: BY TRAIN! By car its like 2 hours and a half, so sorry.

A: you don’t even have a driver license! So you have to take the train!

F: alright I almost have my drivers license! Soon supposedly! And don’t worry ill come pick you up in my ride!

Ayumi makes more fun of Flavie for her hours of driving and her basically driving illegally (in France you can only drive at 18 and flav is 17)

I: what was the most difficult scene to film for you?

F: well im not gonna answer. I can’t answer

A: honestly I dont have any. Oh wait yes yes yes! I just remembered. Flav you do know! It’s the scene where I tell you that ive missed you.

F: oh right! You were sick right!

A: yea I had shrimp for lunch. Bad shrimp and in the scene im in process of dying. I have never been in more pain and discomfort.

F: and I was like why is she angry at me? What did I do?

A: and flav is like are you okay and thank god you were there flav because she was telling me breathe and take it slow. It was the difficult

F: for me the most difficult that we’ve seen is was hard because of weather conditions. It was so cold on the whole set but it was the one where we were around the fire and jo sees eliott for the first time, the first urbex party. We were getting fire embers in our eyes so we were all crying and complaining. It was awful. Louise was actually crying so so hard.

A: it was so funny. Louise was actually crying and was joking at the same time whilst crying. We were laughing so hard.

The say that night was still a lot of fun and then they all went to Quentin’s apartment [actor who plays sekou] and the ambiance on set is better than on screen. It was a lot of fun

A: la mif always has a great time, messing around

F: David would say “FOCUS FOCUS”

I: it was mid November, and we all know skam france shooting is very intense and fast. So David was like a police officers. We cant wait to see the behind the scenes. David in the comments says thank you to all the extras who were there until 4am

F:  oh yea honestly. Thank you– just thank you

A: oh yea flav thanks for that. Its great.

I: we know there’s a clip today with a reunion. And fans are expecting a kiss. Are we getting that moment today?

(Silence)

A: listen if there is a kiss, it will happen at a perfect moment

I: there is a lot of pressure on this kiss becuase there are so many people from the LGBTQ+ community who are saying that this kind of relationship is rarely seen on screen. Do you feel the need to do good?

F: its so well written and directed that we do want to do really well. Ok your turn

A: the want to do good, of crows but its already something we want to do. We are not forcing ourselves, because its already there.

They say that its sad for the time being that they have to continue to fight for rights in the LGBTQ community and Ayumi says that with SKAM its all going to change. They always get lovely messages thanking them.

They talk about the ship name and how fans have decided that is going to be Mayla. Ayumi is happy that its Mayla. Flav wanted Loyla. Ayumi says it was their first “fight” and they weren’t agreeing. Even la mif voted on the ship. It was heavily debated.

I: Are we right to have so much faith in Mayla or are you going to break our hearts?

F: for that you’ll have to keep watching

A: well said flav

I: what is next for you two?

F: not much. Im seeing friends at a distant. Stay safe. I was starting to miss my social life. Not going out too much because I really dont want to get “this vicious/awful thing” so yea “la vida loca”

F: project wise everything is on pause but im on a good path. Crossing my fingers. If it happens it happens. Its destiny

A: its destiny. Same thing. There was a movie that stopped before quarantine and won’t start again but there are castings. Until filming starts again, we are all waiting.

I: it’s funny, everything something is said, it gets translated in the comments in five or six languages. Have you taken something from your character and have you left them something?

A: her joy to live at everything. And give her my body to just exist

F: what I took, well nothing. I gave her 7kg more. Well actually I took from her 7kg. That’s it!

I: who forgets their lines the most?

F: ME! But you too kinda. You just talk SOOO fast you start to stutter

A: I talk too fast and then I stutter and it was so cold that that doesn’t help. So in front of flavie, she really made fun of me.

F: I didnt always forget but sometimes when its really long I forgot.

1. Why did you choose your url?: When i was a kid and on my first social media sites (basically Deviantart and mail accounts) i always used "jackdragon" as my username because of Jack Redfield from Memorias de Idhún, I wanted to keep that theme on Tumblr and I came up with this one I quite like :)
