#7-wonders' halloween spooktacular

Note
Just had such a stupid good idea: reader planning the costumes for Halloween, and having her and mad love Michael go as Laurie Strode and Michael Myers 💀
HA!
"Okay," you say, looking up from your phone. "I know that you vetoed the whole 'angel and devil' thing, but I have another couple's costume idea that I think you'll like."
Michael's eyebrows raise. "Oh?"
"Laurie and Michael Myers!" You show Michael your phone screen, knowing that he probably doesn't know who the characters actually are until he sees them. "Classic slasher? Mmm?"
"While I do like the thought of you as the helpless babysitter, I can't say I'm too keen on the mask that I would wear."
He does have a point; you'd hate to cover up his beautiful face all night. Still, you huff. "I'm running out of ideas here, baby. Uh...Peter Pan and Wendy?"
"I'm not wearing tights." Now it's Michael's turn to think. "What's that one musical you made me watch? With the flying car at the end?"
"Grease?"
Michael nods.
"Oh, Danny and Sandy?" When he nods again, you hum. "That's a good costume. Victor and Emily? From Corpse Bride?"
"I like that. Maybe I could be a vampire, and you," Michael drags his teeth down your neck, "the sweet damsel in distress."
You giggle and push him away, shivering at the goosebumps he's left behind. "That's tempting. Anakin and Padmé?"
"Well now we have too many costumes. How many parties can you drag me to that we could do new costumes at?"
You laugh, noting that the room suddenly feels a few degrees hotter. "To get to see you in vampire fangs one night, a leather jacket the next, and holding a lightsaber after that? I'll find us as many parties as possible."

Santa's Village Amusement & Water Park in Elgin, IL
Santa's Village Amusement & Water Park in Elgin, IL, is one of the top destinations for fun and enjoyment. Some things to do here include Kiddie Rides, Thrill Rides, Animal Attractions, Santa Springs, and more. There's an upcoming event, the Spooktacular Drive Thru, and it's a family-fun Halloween experience this October. I'm excited for this event, where the park will be transformed into a Halloween Haven and family-friendly scenes that feature The Witches Broom Lot, Mad Scientist, Alien Landing, Monster Mash Bash, and a lot more. Father broke into Elgin Home
I read from ABC 7 that two kids are safe after their father broke into an Elgin home and kidnapped them at gunpoint. Sadly, these children were abducted by their father through a home invasion. The said home is located near Chicago Street and Hill Avenue at around 4:45 am. Their father took them and drove off, but he was later found and arrested. The children are now safe. I'm thinking of the reasons why their father tried to kidnap them. Is he not permitted to see them, or what? I'm thinking about what's the matter with him. I don't know the entire story, but I feel sorry for him. Read more.

🎃 It’s time to get spooky, nostalgic friends! 🎃
I, for one, am not a huge fan of horror, or being scared, or....well, anything that makes scary movies “scary,” really! So this spooky season, I’ve drawn up my own schedule of not-too-terribly-spooky movies and specials for this October! Feel free to watch along with me as we count down through the most wonderful time of the year! 👻
A very small handful of these movies are fairly “adult” despite the fact they’re not outright scary (adult themes, violence, language, etc). Movies not suitable for those under 13 have been bolded in case you’re looking to stick with the more light-hearted movies! Keep your eyes peeled, though; I’ll be trying my best to post a cartoon Halloween-centric special a day, so those can easily be swapped out and substituted for movies you’d like to skip!
1. The Corpse Bride 2. The Nightmare Before Christmas 3. The Addams Family 4. Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktacular 5. Halloween Town 6. Hocus Pocus 7. Monster House 8. The Phantom of the Opera 9. Scared Shrekless 10. Goosebumps 11. Ghostbusters 12. Coraline 13. The Little Vampire 14. Scooby-Doo The Movie 15. Beetlejuice 16. Coco 17. It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown 18. The Haunted Mansion  19. Practical Magic 20. Little Shop of Horrors (1986) 21. Gremlins 22. ParaNorman 23. Young Frankenstein 24. Scooby-Doo! and the Witch's Ghost 25. Wallace and Gromit Curse of the Were Rabbit 26. Hotel Transylvania 27. The Book of Life 28. The Rocky Horror Picture Show 29. Casper 30. Muppets Haunted Mansion 31. Matilda

‘laying wide awake at night after watching a horror movie that left them unnerved’
could you do that prompt with the reader being the one who can’t sleep and Adrian comforting them and promising he’ll keep them safe?
I had two people request this prompt, thank you! Man I've MISSED writing for Adrian, this was so fun.
Tumblr media
You've made a lot of dumb decisions in your life, though that's not specific to you. No, being human is about making dumb decisions. What is life if not a string of dumb decisions, one after the other?
Still, letting Harcourt and Economos pick The Exorcist: Believer for a team movie night instead of fighting harder for your and Peacemaker's choice, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, probably ranks up towards the top of your list of dumb decisions.
It probably wouldn't have even been that scary of a movie if you weren't watching it in the movie theater! Yes, The Exorcist scares you (you don't know a person who isn't scared by that movie), but it doesn't terrify you—there is a distinct difference between the two. Watching it in a darkened room, in surround sound, with 100+ other people just as scared as you are? That's terror at its finest.
After the movie was over, every member of The 11th Street Kids excitedly talked about how good it was, how scared they remained. Yet none of them looked affected or like they actually were still scared, so you pushed down your own fear and laughed it off as well. You went out for a couple of after-movie drinks, kissed Adrian goodbye as he went on patrol with Chris, and went home.
Now you're here, lying paralyzed under the covers and staring through the dark room intently as you try to discern if you're actually seeing something lurking in the inky blackness. Are those the yellow eyes of one of the possessed little girls, glowing dimly in the dark? If you strain your ears enough, can you hear the Latin of the exorcism? Your body begins to shake in fear, and you slowly draw the covers up over your head.
So wrapped up in your own mind are you that you miss the quiet sound of the door slowly opening. After having worked at A.R.G.U.S for a few years, it should be second nature to catch on to the feeling of the air shifting outside of your safe haven. But fear is a very powerful thing.
When something grabs the blanket and tugs it down, you scream.
The lights flick on as you do so, blinding you momentarily. When you blink the brightness out of your eyes, you come face-to-face with Adrian, your boyfriend. He's still in his Vigilante costume, which means he's just come back from patrolling. His mask is pulled off, and he's staring at you in bewilderment.
"Hey, I didn't mean to wake you up!" Adrian apologizes profusely.
"You didn't," you assure him, even as you try to get your heart to stop beating in your throat. "I wasn't able to fall asleep."
"Really? That's weird, you're always asleep by the time I come home." He hits the screen of your phone, lying on the nightstand, to check the time. "Do you know that it's three thirty right now? You're supposed to have a full eight hours of sleep to function healthily, and you're not gonna be able to get that."
Your lips twitch up in a smile. "I know."
"Then why aren't you asleep?"
"Promise you won't laugh?"
"I promise!" His face is so earnest, and you wonder why anybody would think that your open book of a boyfriend didn't have emotions.
"It's because of that stupid fucking movie."
"Which stupid fucking movie?" he asks cluelessly.
"The one that we saw only a few hours ago?"
Clarity dawns on him. "Oh, that stupid fucking movie! I didn't know it scared you that bad, pumpkin!"
You appreciate the seasonal term of endearment, probably one of the more tame ones that he's come up with. "You mean it didn't scare you?"
"It was a little scary, I guess. Maybe I'm just built different."
"You almost cried when we went on 'It's a Small World,'" you remind him, referencing your trip to Disney World.
"Hey, those dolls are fucking scary and definitely have the souls of children trapped in them!" Adrian defends. He must see something in your face that betrays just how scared you've been since you arrived home, because his own softens. "Man, that movie really scared you, huh?"
You nod, and he nods back.
"Alright, then." He sits on the bed abruptly, pulling you into his arms and laying down on the mattress with you.
"What—Adrian, you're all sweaty! You need to go shower!"
"Not until you fall asleep. I'm gonna stay right here and keep you safe."
"You know that I know the movie's not real, right?"
"I know. But your fear is. So I'm gonna make sure that you fall asleep, and then I'll fight off any nightmares if they try to come knocking."
He's so sweet sometimes that it makes your teeth ache. "What about your eight hours of sleep?"
"Screw that, I can catch some zzz's at the office tomorrow."
You laugh. "When you're supposed to be doing the mission paperwork that you've been putting off for over a week now?"
"Pssh, paperwork, shmaperwork."
Your conversation dies down, and Adrian reaches a long arm over to turn the lights off. Despite your best efforts, your eyes close from the heaviness of sleep calling to you, Adrian's humming and his hand rubbing your back helping to get you there. The memory of fear zings through your brain, however, and you jolt with a sharp gasp, feeling like you do when you're about to sleep and have the sensation of falling.
Adrian's immediately holding you tighter, making sure that you feel him with you. "Don't worry, I'm right here."
You nod and settle back into him. "Love you."
"I love you more...my moonlit lake." You chuckle, and that's the last thing you remember before finally falling asleep.
True to his word, Adrian makes sure that no nightmares bother you tonight.

10 Hocus Pocus Memes That Are Too Funny | ScreenRant – Screen Rant
October 31st is a holiday that is filled with awesome traditions. Trick or treating, dressing up in costume, and carving out pumpkins only represent half of the things that make Halloween so great. What also makes this time of year so spooktacular is one particular film involving a squad of baller sister witches. What film, you ask? Hocus Pocus of course!
RELATED: Hocus Pocus: 10 Most Badass Sanderson Sisters Quotes
Watching this movie masterpiece during Halloween has become as much of an annual tradition as scarfing down candy. To honor the spookiest of seasons, here are 10 hilarious Hocus Pocus memes to prepare you for the best time of the year!

10 MOST ACCURATE THING WE’VE SEEN ALL DAY
Why is it that as we get older we realize how badass the supposedly “evil” characters from our favorite childhood movies actually are? The same thing can be said from Ursula from The Little Mermaid or Maleficent from Snow White.
RELATED: 10 Disney Villains Who Were Kinda Right
Perhaps it is due to the fact that as we enter into adulthood, we start to appreciate the villains more because they are usually just ambitious women who are often a whole lot more interesting than the protagonist. As children, the Sanderson Sisters might have given us nightmares, yet as adults, we have never identified with a set of characters more.
9 AMOK! AMOK! AMOK!
One of the most memorable lines from Hocus Pocus came from SJP’s character as she shouted  “Amok! Amok! Amok!” to the October skies. This was followed by her sister Winifred complaining that she was cursed with the dumbest sisters in the world, but we, on the other hand, are obsessed with Sarah’s random outburst. Sarah Jessica Parker has always managed to find incredibly unique ways to portray her onscreen characters from the unusual Carrie Bradshaw to the ultimate oddball that is Sarah Sanderson.

We praise her for this, and it makes us want to rewatch her scenes in Hocus Pocus over and over again, even after the holiday season.

8 LEGENDARY QUEENS IN SEPTEMBER VS OCTOBER
It’s so awesome that Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker got to work together in more than one film! Looks like these two just have perfect on-screen chemistry whether they’re starring in Hocus Pocus together or The First Wives Club. Both actresses are incredibly iconic so getting to see them work together side by side is just a pure blessing.

SJP has stated before in interviews that she felt so honored to work with Midler, and that she couldn’t believe she was working with such a legend. We sincerely hope we will one day see these two ladies act together again because their work as a duo is just splendid, and we don’t even deserve it.
7 AS SOON AS MIDNIGHT APPROACHES ON OCTOBER 1ST
In September, we are simply mortals. We put on our usual clothes, drink our morning coffee, and head out for work/school. Yet as soon as it turns midnight on October 1st, everything changes. We stop being our normal everyday selves and we instantly become witches akin to the Sanderson Sisters.
It’s just an annual thing that happens to those of us who are a little too obsessed with Halloween. There’s no shame in it though. Halloween is hands down the best holiday of the year, so we might as well get festive while we can.

6 WHEN AUTUMN ROLLS AROUND AND YOU TURN INTO BETTE MIDLER
Listen, folks. It’s time to get one thing straight. Halloween is not simply a day. Halloween is a lifestyle. Some of us celebrate Halloween all year round, even going so far as to drink pumpkin-flavored beverages while binge-watching The Addams Family in mid-July. Yet when autumn finally rolls around and we spot a single yellow leaf, we take the festivities to a whole nother level.
Essentially, this means that as soon as the leaves change, we become Winnie Sanderson. Is it normal that we become the embodiment of Bette Midler’s character as soon as fall arrives? Probably not. But is it the greatest thing to ever happen to us? Probably.
5 THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR
Whoever claimed Christmas to be the most wonderful time of the year obviously hasn’t seen Hocus Pocus. Funnily enough, Kenny Ortega’s spooktacular masterpiece came out in July! Pure proof right there folks that people prefer to celebrate spooky szn all year long, rather than just on the last day of October.
While we love all seasons of the year, spring, summer, and winter are just missing that witchy spirit that we adore so much in the fall. It’s amazing how one movie alone could capture the aesthetic and mood for an entire season. Now that’s what we call a good movie!

4 SARAH SANDERSON KNOWS WHAT’S UP
Why is this so accurate that it physically hurts? Liquid courage is a real thing, y’all. Yet luckily for Sarah Sanderson, she doesn’t need alcohol to have all the confidence in the world. She’s feelin’ herself, and we love her for it! If only she could teach all of us her tips and tricks for that kind of self-love. Modesty who? What’s that? We don’t know her.
There’s nothing wrong with knowing what you’ve got and flaunting it for the world to see. This is the kind of self-love that we need to start embracing. Sarah Sanderson teaching us how to love ourselves since 1993! It doesn’t get much better than that.
3 OH, THAT MAKES SENSE
In our fave Halloween movie, the Sanderson sisters discover a futuristic vehicle of some sort of which they cannot seem to grasp. They ask the driver “What is this contraption?” to which he responds, “I call it a bus.” Funnily enough, the sisters have no idea what a bus is, (which is understandable because they haven’t been alive since the 1600s and had just recently been revived), yet somehow they know all the lyrics to Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’  “I put a spell on you.”
Call it a blooper or an error if you’d like, but we feel as though the best part of the entire film came from their performance of that song. We can never listen to “I put a spell on you” again without thinking about The Sanderson Sisters!

2 OH LOOK, ANOTHER GLORIOUS REMAKE. MAKES ME SICK!
What is it with all of these gosh darn remakes? This is not to say that all movie remakes of older films are bad, but when it comes to our classics, we would much rather have them untouched. Who on this planet could possibly attempt to outshine Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimi? It just doesn’t make sense as to why anyone would think this remake is a good idea.
It would be one thing if they made a sequel with the same cast (which we’re still crossing our fingers for) yet it’s another thing to just redo the film entirely. Even Bette Midler dissed the remake, saying, “I know it’s cheap. It’s going to be cheap!”. Right on, Sis! You tell ’em.
1 WE WENT AS THE SAME THING LAST YEAR!
Sounds like the ultimate Halloween party to us. There is no better way to spend the holiday than to get full-on festive and to watch this iconic cinematic masterpiece!
If you’re anything like we are, you most likely make it an annual tradition to watch Hocus Pocus because it is now, and forever will be, a classic. It doesn’t matter how old we get, we will always tune into The Sanderson Sisters when October rolls around. After all, it’s tradition!

Dug Up at Dogster: 8 Spooktacular Halloween Costume Ideas for Your Dog
If you’ve got a dog who doesn’t find putting on a costume spooky, but rather a howling good time, then let’s look take a look at some of this years’ options. We’ve kept our list of Halloween costume ideas for your dog simple: either quick DIY or buy it right from the store. After all, dressing up for Halloween can be all treat and no trick!
1. Halloween collar
A dog skull collar. Photography courtesy Petco.
For dogs that like the fuss but not the muss, a simple collar will do the trick. They can still participate and got the oohs and aahs on their next dog walk.
Dog Skull Collar; $10.99-$15.99 at Petco. Photography courtesy Petco.
2. Halloween bandana or bow tie
Dog Skull Bow Tie $9.99 at Petco. Photography courtesy Petco.
Going one step further, try the Halloween bandana or bow tie. Again, fairly simple, and most dogs will happily wear these treats.
3. Family DIY
My friend Laura is great at making simple costumes for her dog that can involve the whole family. Check out this sunflower made by her kids for the family dog.
4. Superheroes
Dog Super Hero Costume XS-M $19.99/L-XXL $24.99 at Petco. Photography courtesy Petco.
These costumes are always popular, and who meets the criteria for a superhero more than our furry powerhouses? Superman is always popular, and this year you can’t go wrong dressing your female pup as Wonder Woman. Make it really easy by just making the distinctive tiara and call it a day.
5. Scary
Dog Spider Costume XS-M $19.99/ L $24.99 at Petco. Photography courtesy Petco.
Creepy — like this spider — and scary costumes are great, especially for the little dogs. Perhaps not the best idea when it comes to the bigger dogs as you don’t want to promote fear of the big breeds.
6. Traditional
Pumpkin costume. Photography courtesy Melissa Kauffman.
Every year, my pup Tampa Bay dresses in this pumpkin costume. It’s easy to put on and easy take off and he looks delicious! Other easy traditional costumes: cats, ghosts, witches — oh, my!
7. When-I-grow-up costume
Dog Sailor Costume XXS-M $19.99/ L-XXL $24.99 at Petco. Photography courtesy Petco.
Dress Fido in something he just may want to be when he grows up — a police officer, fire fighter, sailor or pilot. You can’t go wrong with this adorable option.
8. Other Animals
Dog Shark Costume XS-M $19.99/L-XL $24.99 at Petco. Photography courtesy Petco.
Nothing is more hilarious than seeing your dog camouflaged as another species! Dog shark anyone?

I miss him so much, so can you do “I may or may not have stayed up to watch a horror movie and now I can’t sleep - don’t laugh at me! - can you please come over?” from list 2 with our beloved Adrian?
oh my god oh my god oh my god i love this so much thank you
Tumblr media
///
When your phone rings at midnight on a Saturday, you don't even glance at the screen before picking up. There's only one person that bothers to call you instead of texting like a normal person, and that's the same person who uses calling like texting and rings you to talk about anything and everything.
"Hi, Adrian," you greet, pausing the show that you're watching on your laptop.
"Sweetie. Darling. Love of my life. My little snickerdoodle." Ah, so he has something to ask you. That's the only time he hits you with a deluge of pet-names; he thinks it's buttering you up.
(It is, but that's besides the point)
"You know how Peacemaker and I were gonna patrol together tonight?"
"Mhm." Of course you do – that's why he's not currently wrapped around you like a koala.
"Well he ditched our plans to go hook up with a chick, so I decided to watch that new horror movie. Y'know, the one you told me I would get scared of if I watched it alone?"
"I do recall that conversation."
"Great. Well, I may or may not have stayed up to watch said horror movie alone and now I can't sleep–don't laugh at me!" Adrian whines when you start cackling from the comfort of your room.
You knew this would happen, because you know Adrian, and Adrian doesn't do horror movies. He can brutally murder a room full of people while making jokes and laughing about it before falling asleep peacefully, but put on a movie with ghosts, demons, zombies, or slashers and he turns into a jumpy little kid.
"Can I please come over? Please, please, please? I'm scared." You can hear the pout in his voice, which is obviously his attempt to make you say yes. Joke's on him, because you were going to say yes anyways.
"Yeah baby, you can come over."
"Great, because I'm already outside your door." Sure enough, you can hear the key that you gave him months ago turning in the lock of your front door.
At least he's using the door this time instead of breaking in through your window.
You hang up the call since he's currently entering your home and try to hold in your laughs as he turns on every light in his path to your bedroom. When you finally see him, you can't help but coo at him. His eyes are blown wide with fear behind his glasses and the flush that he sports whenever he experiences any strong emotion is already creeping up his neck and towards his cheeks.
Holding out your arms to him, you coax him to you. "C'mere, baby."
Adrian slides his shoes off and crawls onto your bed, allowing you to wrap your arms tightly around him and hold him to you. He takes a minute before doing anything, matching his breaths to yours to calm himself down (a trick you've taught him for when he gets overwhelmed, and one that you're proud of him for remembering to use).
When his heartbeat, which you can feel racing against your skin, slows down to a normal rate, you finally speak. "I told you not to watch horror movies by yourself."
"I know. But it looked like one I was gonna like!"
You smile down at him and kiss his forehead, unable to resist. "Next time, maybe you wait to watch it with someone else, like me or Chris."
"I think I'm gonna lay off the horror movies for a while," Adrian says solemnly before snuggling further into your embrace. He looks at the open laptop sitting off to the side and seems to finally remember that you were doing something before he called you. "Ooh, what are you watching?"
"Annabelle."
Adrian lets out a pained groan, and you hide your smirk in his curls.
