You really think the critism Zelensky and wife are getting right now are misogynistic??? And not just rightfully so because they did a fucking fashion photoshoot during a bloody war!?!?

Yes, most of the hate is misogynistic (from what I've read and saw).

Of course not all the critism. But most of it is.

First of all: It's not Zelenskyy's photo shoot, it's Olena's. She has a name. She's not just "the wife of...". People love to erase her right now and pretend the photoshoot is all about Zelenskyy. She's in five of the pictures, he's in two - and in one of them only in the background. The whole article is about her. He has like what...one paragraph?!

So saying things like "there is a war and the President has time to do a homestory and photoshoot with Vogue" is not only a completely wrong sentence, it also totally ignores Olena. (Not to mention it feeds into and uses Russian Propaganda.)

And just as a side fact: Yes, even the President has time during a war to contribute something to such a coverage. People complain about him talking to world leaders and parliaments "all day, every day". But the moment he's not and he's doing something else to gain support, help and weapons it's also wrong and he's not taking the war serious or the war can't be that bad?!? What kind of logic is that?!

But back to Olena and the Vogue shooting.

Interestingly so, she got almost no hate when she was doing the story for The Economist. Why?! Because The Economist is not a "women's magazine"? And The Economist story was actually really awful. From the photos to the interview. But people only praised her for that.

You want to know why?! Because everything that is connected with women (in that case - a magazine) will be ridiculed. Most people who now get angry have probably not read one line from the interview. Or cared about getting informed why Annie Leibovitz was chosen to do the photos. Or never looked into Vogue and their powerful covers or their feminism approach / try to give women voices and let them be seen or that they're not just "a fashion magazine".

Side fact: Vogue reaches almost 1 million readers. 20% of readers are male, 80% female.

And why not reach out to women and tell them everything about the war? Why not mobilize them and their help? Because they are women?!

Well, congratulations. We are back to misogynistic bullshit.

This war wouldn't be so successful for Ukraine (fuck off, Kremlins) if the woman wouldn't also contribute something to the win. It's not just the men. Women also fight. Or help in other ways.

And if we look at Olena as First Lady - most people probably have absolutely no clue what she did in the last months. And that's a lot. She may have saved hundreds, if not thousands of people. By making sure they get medical care / treatment. By organising rescuing missions and transports.

She tries to give refugees a home or something they know in a foreign country. Makes sure people get education - can go to schools or university.

She talks about women rights in war and the horros women have to live through. She also talks about children.

She advocates for Ukrainian culture and makes sure it's not getting extinct while Russia tries to erase Ukrainian culture and kill every Ukrainian.

She's collecting money, organising fundraising events and donations and is coordinating all kind of events. She's giving speeches to gain support and help and attends events. Personally. While there are still people waiting for an opportunity to kill or capture her.

And her mental health program is probably going to be the biggest program of that kind ever. Not only in Ukraine, but also in the world. Not to mention that she literally tries to change the discussion and views of a whole nation about a more than important topic.

And even before the war she was not just the pretty decoration next to her husband. She actually did a lot of things, only in the background. From making school food better to strengthening women rights or helping people with special needs. And these are just some of her topics.

Her Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen actually wrote history last year because she was the first person ever (!) who was organising something like that and who gave First Ladies and Gentlemen a voice, making sure they can use their (soft) power and get connected. (Not to mention that this Summit proved more than useful during the war.)

And last but not least: it's not a fashion shoot. The photos are clearly not about her clothes. And she's not posing at all (debatable in the airplane photo, but even her she's barely striking a pose).

And again: It's their fucking job (!!!) to use literally every possibility to talk about the war and raise awareness and get help.

So we all living in 2022 and really want to reduce a woman, who is fighting for women, is writing history, is a feminist icon and sets an example of what a powerful woman can look like (or what a First Lady can also be) to just being a pretty thing?!? Really??? Shaming her for doing everything she can to raise awareness?! Sending her hate because she decided to use one of the biggest and most important papers for helping her country during a war?

If people would use the time to get angry instead to get educated maybe we all could move on in the discussion.

And again: of course we can critize things about the Vogue coverage. I did it too, because I don't like certain aspects. But maybe we could stop using misogyny and critize actual stuff.

Yes and no? My full name is Meissa. It is an arabic name. It is pronounced like Missa, my mom wanted to name me after my grandma but she refused lol. So, i was named smth close to her name. Friends and fam call me Mei tho.

No. I love babies sm!! But i dont like kids… AM I MAKING SENSE?? it’s like they be so cute before they start talking and walking. Maybe that will change if i ever have my own.

I DO. Only with close ones tho, not all people appreciate sarcasm.

5. what sports do you play/have you played?

I hate sports tbh. It’s enjoyable to watch but not to play lol. I did play some though in HS like basketball and volleyball. Right now i just enjoy working out.

6. what's the first thing you notice about other people?

Their hand gestures when they are talking, teeth, and their style. I firmly believe that the way people style themselves is them showing their own creativity. I love to observe the little details they add to their fits or even makeup and hair. Also shoes!! I love people who take care of their shoes. Their scents too i believe! In my country we salute each other by kissing the cheeks twice lol. So, it is hard to not notice how they smell like.

I love reading, but fiction mostly, and painting, sketching, playing video games, cooking too hehe. Also learning new languages, i think being a north African gave me the benefit to pick up languages fast and imitate any accent.

Im just gonna pass by to remind that the Newmaker's farm house during the 80s it was used as a haunted house attraction and it was soooo lame 😭

I couldn't find much information about this, but my dad told me that they started advertising it during halloween of 87' and you've to drive to the place and some random group of teen will gudue you througth it telling you the horrific story of that house.

The first and single time my dad went there, he told me that the guide was some random 13 year old girl dressed as a ghost who will start telling the story like it was some type of legend or something.

He told me that it was really lame. The girl guided him and some other kids theougth the rooms, and that in each room they show a death from any of the Newmaker's sisters, and all the creepy stuff that Arthur did. Oh, and for the blood, they literally used ketchup. Ketchup.

Oh, dad says that my grandpa grounded him like a weak for going there(? I mean, I kinda get it since this hits close home but still foun it funny

Doing a little research, it seems that the propety was bougth by the same company that organized the fair in Slechtestok after David's investigations. It lasted about 4 halloweens since the O.V.S.S (Ondersteuningsnetwerk voor slachtoffers van sekten) asked to shut this place down for being:

<p>To celebrate the new release of the remake of my favorite video game ever, here’s a bit about RE4.</p> <p>I don’t like horror movies.</p> <p>It doesn’t entertain me to be jump-scared. However after buying a Nintendo Gamecube, I noticed a remake of the original survival-horro game - Resident Evil - that looked quite intriguing. The graphics were so good, it looked truly creepy, and the game was being praised as one of the greatest remakes of a classic of all time. So I bought it and enjoyed being scared for the first time.</p> <p>In 2005, the latest in the series was being releaased: Resident Evil 4, exclusively on the Gamecube. I was primed and ready to go with this, and was pleasantly surprised at the quality and innovation of the game. While Funko previously made Ash Pop figures based on Army of Darkness and Ash vs Evil Dead, the original Evil Dead is finally getting the Funko treatment for its 40th anniversary. Ash, including with a bloody chase variant, is due out September.
