1993 - Shannen and Luke with Australian fan Kathleen Bird, who won a competition in the Official Beverly Hills 90210 magazine to be flown on the set of 90210 and meet the cast. She was there during the filming of the 3x20 episode "Parental Guidance Recommended" which was aired on February 3, 1993, and also ended up being in the background of a scene.

90210 season 2 was a drama only shakespeare could have penned
#I’m rewatching it right now and CHEFS KISS TO THE WRITING#see most shows have a golden first season and then season 2 goes so downhill and we don’t even talk about season 3#cause nothing from that should be considered canon#but 90210 season 2 is some of the best television I’ve watched#like the liam/annie/naomi drama was a wonderful tale of betrayal and miscommunication amazing commentary on the human condition#like jen is angry that her 16 year old sister is throwing a prom after party#and to get back at her she ruins multiple people’s lives#like naomi tells jen a secret about liam#and jen pretends to be a neighbor and tells liam that she overheard naomi gossiping about him#and so to get back at his own girlfriend LIAM SLEEPS WITH JEN AND BRAGS ABOUT IT TO NAOMI?#and naomi finds annie’s scarf in the room and assumes that annie was the girl he slept with#but it isn’t until after naomi leaves that jen comes back and tells liam that she isn’t actually naomi’s neighbor but is actually her sister#and now naomi is pissed off at annie because she thinks annie slept with her boyfriend#and Liam would rather let naomi think that he slept with her best friend bc the actual truth that he slept with her sister is even worse#and naomi goes on a tirade and starts bullying the shit out of annie to the point annie starts to go with the lie that she slept with liam#just to piss off naomi even more. AND JEN GETS AWAY WITH THE WHOLE THING 😭#I saw that apparently pllos copies this storyline and it’s just like how dare you? only 90210 could pull off something like this

Propaganda
Jason Priestley - (Beverly Hills, 90210) - No text propaganda
Tom Welling - (Smallville (seasons 1-3)) - I had the biggest crush on him back in the mid 2000s, and also smallville is within the time period in the rules so I figured I would nominate my beloved.

Outcaste Nakshatras: The Misfits & the Misunderstood
Yesterday I made a post about how outcaste nakshatra natives tend to be anti-establishment thinkers and how many of the most well known radicals & revolutionaries of our world tend to have Outcaste nakshatras.
Outcaste or Mleccha nakshatras belong outside the caste system and aren't given a place in the caste hierarchy. Shudra nakshatras are the lowest caste to occupy the hierarchy. Mleccha is considered lower than that and thus outside the system.
(Ashlesha, Bharani, Shravana and Vishaka are the Mleccha nakshatras)
Thus it comes as no surprise that those who have Outcaste naks often experience being socially outcast, excluded and like they don't belong anywhere.
Shudra nakshatras also experience these themes to a certain degree as these two are at the lowest end of the pyramid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shannen Doherty (middle) was fired from 2 shows, Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed because of issues among the cast members & rivalry between them. When she was starring in 90210, her fellow cast member Tori Spelling whose father Aaron Spelling produced the show, asked her dad to fire Shannen. Aaron Spelling also produced Charmed and subsequently fired her after 3 seasons due to her conflict with cast member Alyssa Milano, who later admitted that she was responsible for a lot of the tension at work. Rose McGowan who replaced Shannen on Charmed also accused Milano of creating a toxic work environment.
Shannen acquired a "bad girl" reputation and was known for being "difficult to work with"🙄I feel like she was pushed into a corner by her male producers and bitchy co-stars and felt excluded among them as a girl from a small town in Tennessee :(
She has Revati Sun, Vishaka Moon, Uttaraphalguni Rising and Ketu in Ashlesha
Revati is a Shudra nak whereas Vishaka & Ashlesha are Mleccha naks
Tumblr media
Isaiah Washington was fired from Grey's Anatomy for using a homophobic slur against gay co-star T.R Knight. Washington has come out saying that this is false and that he said the f word during a dispute with Patrick Dempsey who had a tendency to provoke him (he apparently said: "Isaiah, do you know that white men are the masters of the universe?")
He also said that he was always excluded on set and they tried to pay him to NOT audition for the role. Washington also claimed that star Ellen Pompeo was given millions of dollars to stay silent about Dempsey's on-set behaviour in the #MeToo era, and alleged that she was racist, saying, “She really thinks that she’s cool with Black people like that, but she’s not.” There have been many rumours over the years about Greys being a toxic work place so tbh I am inclined to believe him.
He has Ashlesha Sun, Uttarashada Moon and Jupiter in Revati amatyakaraka
Not everyone tries to expose their former bosses or colleagues but given his Moon in a Kshatriya nakshatra (or warrior nak) I see how he's brave enough to risk everything to speak his truth.
Tumblr media
Brendan Fraser has had a lot of setbacks in his career and for a good period he just sort of disappeared from Hollywood; in recent years he has come out saying that it's because he was blacklisted by the then President of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association who had sexually assaulted him. He did make a career comeback and won an Oscar but man's been through a lot in life.
He has Jyeshta Sun, Krittika Moon & Bharani Rising
Although he has a Mleccha nak in his big 3, since he also has a Brahmin & Vaishya nak, he has enjoyed immense public support and sympathy which not very many other people on this list have. Not everybody gets to make Oscar winning comebacks either.
Tumblr media
Tatjana Patitz was one of the 90s supers (she's the one in the back in this picture) but unlike Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington or Cindy Crawford, she's hardly ever mentioned in conversations about the 90s OG supermodels. She received very little press coverage and unlike the others who've made career comebacks or enjoyed sustained fame, Tatjana kind of vanished. She unfortunately passed away in 2023 from breast cancer and even then I haven't seen the industry mourning for her or anything :(
Tatjana had Bharani Moon
Tumblr media
George Clooney has spoken about how in high school, he was nicknamed Frankenstein because of Bell's palsy which caused the whole left side of his face to be paralysed, his eye rarely opened and he had problems with eating. Because of the constant bullying, he had to move to another school. After a change of scenery and active sports, the disease receded.
George has Bharani Sun, Uttarashada Moon, Shatabhisha Ketu & Rising and Mercury in Krittika atmakaraka
Even though majority of his naks are Mleccha/Shudra, he subsequently became an A list actor and enjoys immense wealth, popularity and good will. His moon is in a Kshatriya nak and his atmakaraka is in a Brahmin caste nak. He fought his way up.
Amal Clooney was born in Lebanon into a well-off family but they had to flee Lebanon due to the civil war and settle in England. Amal is a human rights lawyer whose clients include refugees. (I had previously spoken about the outcaste nakshatra tendency to be anti-establishment or to dedicate their life to causes which had initially affected them personally).
Amal has Shravana Sun, Jyeshta Moon and Venus in Dhanishta atmakaraka. Due to the presence of Vaishya naks, she gets to support these causes from a position of immense privilege and champions them through her position as a lawyer, i.e, using her intellect not armed struggle or some other form of activism.
Tumblr media
Megan Fox's career was full of ups and downs and for a period she was pretty much blacklisted from Hollywood and labelled "difficult to work with"🙄
She has Krittika Sun, Ashlesha Moon and Purvashada Rising
Even though her moon is in a Mleccha nak, due to her other luminaries being in Brahmin naks she's enjoyed immense popularity among the public for years and has always enjoyed a certain status or level of fame (largely due to her looks but honestly Hollywood is full of gorgeous women, how many enjoy the same popularity or public interest as Meghan?).
Tumblr media
Billie Eilish, Shravana Moon grew up lower middle class and was home-schooled. Even though now she's rich & famous, she still acts like an outcast and "does not fit in".
Tumblr media
Angelina Jolie, Revati Moon & stellium has spoken a lot about being unpopular in school, being a punk, being misunderstood. She has Mercury in Mrigashira atmakaraka and Saturn in Punarvasu as her chart ruler
Revati is a Shudra nak, Punarvasu also experiences themes of being an outcast, Mrigashira nak has themes of abuse.
It makes sense as to why she has dedicated most of her life to helping refugees and championing numerous causes and has even said if she were young now she would never have become an actor. She enjoys immense popularity and is very privileged (lots of Vaishya gana naks in her chart) but to this day she's condemned for her weird behaviour in the 90s and early 2000s and can never seem to shed her past image completely which is crazy because she's not the first or last person to have an affair with a married man (not condoning adultery just saying that it happens all the time in Hollywood and people hardly bat an eye but for her, her reputation as a homewrecker has come to define her).
Claire Nakti had done a survey on nepo babies and concluded that Revati was the most common nakshatra among them. This is very interesting to me because I feel like most Revati nepo babies including Angelina, Jamie Lee Curtis, Robert Downey Jr etc acquire fame that far exceeds that of their parents. It eclipses any privilege they already had; all these individuals are far more successful than their parents ever were. Obviously being privileged helps and this does not apply to all Revati nepo babies ofc but many people mentioned on the list are total superstars who you'd never guess came from famous families, this is to say that they're not famous for being famous or because of their families, they're icons in their own right.
And even with Angelina, she grew up with a single mom and was estranged from her dad for most of her life so her upbringing was rather modest even with the showbiz ancestry she had.
Tumblr media
Olga Tokarczuk has Shravana Sun, Vishaka Moon & Purvaphalguni Rising
Olga is a Polish writer who is known for the weird, quirky, mystical, and philosophical nature of her novels (She received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2018). It can be said that many of her characters live on the fringes of society but have a very strong sense of justice and fairness despite their position that renders them powerless. She has 2 Mleccha naks in her big 3 and a Brahmin one, I thought this particular quote was very interesting because its Mleccha naks who acutely understand the nature of human suffering but the Venus ruled Brahmin nak insists on how being deluded, that our psyches prevent us from seeing the true nature of human suffering. If you saw everything exactly as it was, you'll die. In order to live, you must be willing to be deluded.
Tumblr media
Lindsey Lohan, Ardra Sun, Bharani Moon & Mrigashira Rising plays a social outcast in Mean Girls who tries to infiltrate a popular girls group (despite having a Shudra & Mleccha nak, her Vaishya asc helps her ascend the social hierarchy to some extent). The movie ends with her having managed to destroy the clique of the Plastics and create a new social order at her highschool.
Tumblr media
Miley Cyrus is a Vishaka Moon & Demi Lovato is a Bharani Moon and its pretty well documented how they both didn't feel like they "belonged" or "fit in". They rebelled in different ways and have opened slammed Disney on multiple occasions.
Tumblr media
Presley Gerber who has the word "misunderstood" tattooed on his face has Ardra Sun, Dhanishta Moon, Jyeshta Rising and Ketu in Shravana
Ardra is a Shudra nak, Shravana is a Mleccha nak whilst Dhanishta & Jyeshta are Vaishya naks
As a result of feeling left out, misunderstood, isolated, excluded etc Mleccha nak natives often tend to keep to themselves and are very very private. They are loners at heart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is by no means a comprehensive list but off the top of my head here's a bunch of celebrities who are very low-key and very private. There are no rumours, no pap photos, nothing, just silence (for the most part).
L to R
Denise Richards- Vishaka Moon
Christian Bale- Shravana Sun, Mars in Bharani amatyakaraka
David Duchovny- Ashlesha Sun
Shakira- Shravana Sun
Elijah Wood- Shravana Sun
Harry Styles- Shravana Sun
Saoirse Ronan- Bharani Moon
Penelope Cruz- Bharani Sun
Beyonce- Vishaka Moon
Uma Thurman- Bharani Sun

Charlize Theron- Ashlesha Moon
Amanda Seyfried- Ashlesha Moon
Joseph Gordon-Levitt- Ashlesha Moon
Paul McCartney- Ashlesha Moon
Ryan Gosling- Vishaka Sun
Adam Driver- Vishaka Sun
Leonardo DiCaprio- Vishaka Sun
All of these celebrities maintain a pretty low profile and only interact with the press when they're promoting something.
only 30 images are allowed per post acc to tumblr so there will be a part 2!!
I hope this post spreads some light into the nature of Outcaste naks, I have a lot more research that I'll share in my next post<33

What's your top 10 ships? 😊
This might be longer than top ten xD I have a lot of ships.
Gotta start with my first ship, before shipping was shipping or even a thing - I call this my OG ship - because I was 9 or so, when this show started which was a Spin off itself, of another 80s show that I also remember watching. These are in no particular order, except these first two OG's.
1
Tumblr media
Family Matters. Steve and Laura, my very first ship. I watched this live every TGIF until I was a a teenager when it ended. My ship sailed. I can't express how much I loved Laura and Steve Urkle. <3
2
Tumblr media
Beverly Hills, 90210. Always Team Brenda. <3 With the recent passing of Shannen Doherty this is just so sad to ten year old me who started watching 90210 in 1990, seeing all the crap she had to go through, being labeled the way she was, as I was growing and becoming a teenager in the 90s. Second OG ship, love them forever. <3
3
Tumblr media
Oh my heart. That Bob <3's Abishsola is ended, I feel like there was so many more seasons of these two, their quirky families and the merging of two cultures. Started it form the beginning, and yep, I was hooked on that first episode.
4
Tumblr media
Cobra Kai. Carmen and Johnny. I can't with these two. I love them <33333333
5
Tumblr media
Just ugh <3
6
Tumblr media
The Mentalist. My lovely Jibson. <3
7
Tumblr media
Richonne. <3333 Need I say more?
8
Tumblr media
Randall and Beth were the heart of This is Us for me, I wanted more of them <33333333
9
Tumblr media
Kate and Philip, from This Is Us. I wanted more of their relationship, it was too rushed for me, I was so sad lol. I shipped them so hard though.
10
Tumblr media
And of course, Caryl. <3333333333333
Honorable Mentions
-
Tumblr media
Morgan and Grace.
-
Tumblr media
Stabler and Benson
And I have so many more. This is hardly the tip of the iceberg.
Thank you so much for asking me!!!!!!! Sorry it took for ever lol Carylering ON<3333333333333333333333333333

Ranking the GAY EPISODES of Beverly Hills, 90210 - Part 2
(Part 1 here)
#4.) Blind Spot (Season 4, Episode 26)
Tumblr media
Car trouble lands Brandon and Steve stranded at a GAY COFFEEHOUSE, where, amidst all of his ridiculous gay panic, Steve clocks Mike, his fraternity president, enjoying a coffee with another guy. Back at the frat house, Mike approaches Steve, assuming that since he was also at the GAY COFFEEHOUSE, he must be gay too. Steve gives Mike the cold shoulder, showing no empathy for him whatsoever, and it’s actually really sad because Mike was so excited to relate to someone else in a similar situation, which I have to imagine would have been a rare opportunity, and I know how vulnerable and embarrassed he would have felt in that moment. Later on, Artie, another frat guy, makes, like, two incredibly dumb gay jokes about Steve, and rather than ignore them, fire back, or do literally anything other than the one thing he shouldn’t do, Steve immediately goes into self-preservation mode and deflects Artie’s homophobic ire towards Mike, the actual gay guy who’s been hiding in plain sight. Mike is understandably pissed when Steve tells him that “it just slipped out,” which isn’t really true. Latently homophobic Steve intentionally threw Mike under the bus to protect his own extremely fragile ego. Even Brandon agrees that Steve is a huge fucking dipshit for this, so you know it’s bad. Anyway, some of the frat brothers paint Mike’s bedroom door pink (such a weird fucking flex, honestly) and Mike threatens to leave the frat to avoid any further humiliation. He doesn’t, of course, because during a tribunal to decide Mike’s fate (insane that this is what it comes to, but the show doesn’t even acknowledge that), Steve saves the day by calling out Mike’s good attributes and blah blah blah, the homophobe becomes the hero. Hooray. Honestly, I kinda wish Mike had just left the frat. Why stay somewhere that is full of assholes who need to have a group fucking meeting discussing your personal life before they permit you to be in their presence? Maybe it’s just me, but I wouldn’t consider being allowed to stay somewhere like that “a win.” But whatever. Mike manages to make some good points, and his gay rage is, appropriately, very justified. I just wish it didn’t have to be tempered at the end. I wish he got to peace out, go find love somewhere better than the damn KEG house, and leave Steve feeling like a piece of shit for fucking up his life. I would have been a hell of a lot more satisfied by that. Though this episode gets bonus points for featuring the GAY COFFEEHOUSE, which is the same coffeehouse used in an iconic double date scene from the stone cold classic, A Very Brady Sequel. More bonus points for some cute Dylan stuff during the photo shoot B story, and in particular, the moment where Dylan checks out and proceeds to compliment Brandon’s boxers. This is the kind of stuff that keeps me going.
#3.) Making Amends/The Nature of Nurture (Season 8, Episodes 23-24)
Tumblr media
While working at the free clinic, Kelly finds a baby abandoned by its teen mother (a young Jessica Alba), and though she initially wants to adopt it herself, she relents when she learns that the baby will be placed in a foster-to-adopt situation with a carefully selected couple, as opposed to going back to the mother, whom Kelly has quickly and harshly written off as evil. But things that a major turn when Kelly learns that the foster parents are (gasp!) HOMOS! This sets off her strange and highly problematic crusade to return the baby to the custody of its mother, who does actively want it back now that she too knows her baby is at risk of being raised by a couple of gays. Ultimately, teen mom’s homophobia proves excessive, and causes Kelly to recognize that maybe the baby is better off with loving parents, regardless of their sexuality, than with a homophobic teen mom who only wants it out of spite. Naturally, things wrap up neatly, the baby lands with the gays, and Kelly gets to feel good about doing the right thing despite being the source of a LOT of strife for a LOT of people. There’s also a LOT to think about in this episode, and overall, I think it’s fairly well done aside from some frustrating character stuff. While Kelly – allegedly a social work major - demonstrates next to know understanding of how social services actually work, the writers do. I already wrote a bit about this episode so I won’t get too into it, but suffice it to say it tackles some thorny issues regarding issues of child protection, fostering, and adoption pretty well, and with as much accuracy as I think can be expected from a show like this. What I find most maddening about this episode is that Kelly isn’t granted the opportunity for any substantial self-reflection or personal growth. Her homophobic beliefs are placed in stark contrast to teen mom’s more extreme views, and therefore written off as not that bad. Additionally, the out-of-nowhere explanation that she wanted the baby for herself is positioned as the real reason for her actions, and the fact that the foster parents were gay was just an easy excuse she used to justify her shitty behavior. This doesn’t really track, and I don’t buy it. I think it would have been far more interesting to have this episode tackle the issue of latent homophobia, and explore the nuances involved in addressing that. As it is, Kelly isn’t left accountable for her actions, and that’s a problem for me because that’s really the theme of this episode. It’s not really about the gay parents, it’s about other (straight) people’s feelings about them. I think they could have dug a little deeper to offer a more satisfying character arc for Kelly. It’s not problematic to have latently prejudiced beliefs. It’s human! And dealing with them is something that would have been refreshing to see in an episode that otherwise gets so much right.
#2.) A Mate for Life/Disappearing Act/Pledging My Love (Season 7, Episodes 3-5)
Tumblr media
Kelly begins a school placement at a group home for men with AIDS, and befriends Jimmy, a young gay man who is dying of the disease. Jimmy (played by Michael Stoyanov from Blossom) copes with his illness by practicing magic tricks, engaging in some self-deprecating gallows humour, and being generally charming. At one point, Kelly gets some of Jimmy’s blood on her hands, and she panics that she might be now be infected with HIV. Following an anxiety dream in which she gets AIDS rash, Kelly gets tested and though her doctor assures her that she’s probably fine, he does give her a lecture on safe sex, reminding her that HIV isn’t just for gay men - anyone can get it, and sexual intercourse is an easy way to do so. While she’s waiting for her test results, Kelly tells Clare and Donna that she’ll move out of their beach house if she ends up testing positive, and it’s around this point that I began to realize that this is a storyline that is wasted on Kelly. First of all, she’s straight, and though, yes, anyone can contract HIV, it goes without saying that it was gay men who were disproportionately affected by it in the United States at this time. Second of all, she was “contaminated” in such a minor way. These two factors make all of this feel really low stakes. We know that there’s no way in hell Kelly tests positive. I want to be clear that I don’t think that shows like this have any inherent obligation to those who have lived through trauma or illness to deal with these issues in a way that is consistently true to life. That’s a slippery slope because not all lived experience is the same, and what might feel validating and representative to someone might feel offensive to someone else. Plus, it’s also a lot to ask of a TV show, whose primary concern should be to entertain and to compel, not present viewers with a case study on living with AIDS. However, in this case I have to admit that it does feel a little inappropriate to be putting Kelly through the ringer in the most low stakes way possible, and milking that for drama when so many gay men were really going the ringer and the stakes were much higher. Not to minimize the experience of people like Kelly who suffered the worry of a close call, but it feels like the show is really pushing it with what it’s asking us to buy into. Granted, I guess that’s why we have Jimmy - to demonstrate what being a gay man dying of AIDS in the 90s actually could have looked like. And while yes, Jimmy falls squarely into the much-maligned trope of gays who only show up to die for the sake of the straight characters’ growth, he’s probably about as good as we possibly could’ve expected to get at the time, barring the show deciding to suddenly break all kinds of barriers and introduce a main gay character living with AIDS. It was just never gonna happen, and I’m not going to hold that against the show. Unsurprisingly, Kelly tests negative, but Jimmy takes a turn for the worse. Watching him make peace with his fate as Kelly offers some misplaced naivete, desperately suggesting that what he knows to be true might not be, it’s hard not to feel something. When Kelly suggests taking a photo of the two of them, it makes sense that Kelly would want to not only preserve a memento of their friendship, but also to assure Jimmy that he is someone who will be remembered fondly. It’s a touching moment, and the weight of it is effectively conveyed. While I already explained why I think this episode kind of mishandles its subject matter in terms of the AIDS scare stuff, what it gets right is the friendship between Kelly and Jimmy. I think what could’ve made it even better, however, would have been to allow Kelly just a little more time to sit in her open-ended grief, and try to make sense of Jimmy’s death. Some frank acknowledgement of the difficulty involved in doing that might have been an appropriately cathartic cap to this story, and it would have been a uniquely heavy moment for a show that by this point was often pretty superficial.
#1.) I’m Back Because/The Following Options (Season 9, Episodes 8-9)
Tumblr media
Steve’s mom comes to town because she’s starring in a much-hyped comeback sitcom. Rumours abound that she’s dating her co-star, and when Steve asks her about them, she neither confirms nor denies, instead opting to remind Steve that it’s no one’s business who she dates. Eventually, however, she admits to Steve that she’s not dating her co-star, nor is she dating any man. She’s actually dating a woman. And okay, this is honestly one of the most unexpected yet awesome choices that this show could have made at this point. In an era of the show full of random retcons and arbitrary character development, the fact that this one comes out of nowhere actually makes sense, considering Samantha had been deeply in the closet prior to this moment, and she’s not someone we see every week. And choosing to give a coming out storyline to a middle aged mother as opposed to some young twentysomething? That’s a bold choice! The crux of the drama here is that Steve (once again) demonstrates some very blatant homophobic feelings about his mother’s sexuality, and slings some pretty nasty remarks her way, going so far as to accuse her of adopting him in order to complete some sort of heterosexual façade for the sake of her image. It’s all pretty embarrassing for Steve, but as with the earlier episode featuring Kelly and the teen mom, there is room to allow these characters to explore their latent homophobia. That would not only offer some compelling drama, but it would be an accurate reflection of reality. And this storyline gets 75% of the way there. They just bungle the ending. Steve only starts to see the light once word of Samantha’s sexuality leaks to the media, and Samantha is fired from her new show amidst the ensuing scandal. Watching his mom go through all of this undue humiliation causes Steve to do an about face, and choose to embrace her for who she is. It’s a cute ending, but man, does it ever skip a lot of steps in terms of Steve’s growth. We don’t get to see Steve do any of the work involved in addressing his homophobia, nor do we get any indication as to what specifically would have spurred his change of heart beyond his mom’s name being dragged through the mud. There’s no suggestion of introspection or vulnerability. There’s not really even an apology. I think if this storyline had had one more episode to really flesh out Steve’s character development, and to offer a heart to heart between mother and son, it could’ve been great. But there are still great things about it. Christine Belford is really good as Samantha (seriously, Samantha is not even a character we get to know very well over the course of the series, yet I practically cheered when she told Steve she was gay, so that’s a testament to her), and for all of Steve’s shitty behaviour towards her, Samantha gets to land a few zingers of her own. And again, I appreciate that the show chose to go this route with this character. Coming out in midlife is a reality for many people, and Samantha’s celebrity adds an interesting dynamic. There are definitely things that could have been improved upon, and it perhaps bites off a little more than it can chew, but its heart is in the right place, and it’s sympathetic without being condescending or othering. And while it’s Samantha’s final appearance on the show (BOO!), we do get to meet her new girlfriend, Karen, in the aforementioned luau episode of season 10, and wow - LESBIAN LEGEND. I sure hope Samantha hung on to her.
Well, there you have it. A thorough(ish) rundown of Beverly Hills, 90210′s major(ish) storylines featuring gay themes. It’s disappointing how short-lived all of these stories were, because most of them would’ve been better served by characters whom we actually get to know outside of their relationships with members of the gang. Still, as I’ve said before, I’m used to accepting scraps when it comes to queer content. And I’m happy to look back at this show and accept that we needed baby steps like this in order to get more and better gay content on television.
I hope everyone has had a safe and happy Pride month!

The list for 2024
I stream A LOT of media, and mostly series, some weeks up to 40 hours. This because I usually have something on in the background, it makes me focus even better. I work from home about half the time and the TV is always on, on these days. But it's normaly rewatches and comfort series and I have a hard time starting new ones. So, to help with this, my goal for 2024 is to complete a list of series I want to watch, but haven't dealt with yet. I might not complete them all if I don't like them, but the goal is to start them all.
The unlisted
The irregulars
Raising Dion
Cloak and Dagger
Never have I ever
Everything sucks
Heartbreak high
Elite
Derry Girls
Umbrella academy
Bodies
White Lotus
My life with the Walter boys
The Crown
Minx, season 2
Smiley
BONDING
Everything Now
Todas las veces que enamoramos
Dead to me, season 3
Love and anarchy, season 2
Cunk on earth
Survival of the thickest
Kitz
Julia
Parks and Recreation
The Flight Attendant
It's a Sin
Gentleman Jack
The Sex Lives of College Girls
The Comeback
This is us
Griselda
I'd love to get other tips you think I might like to add to the list! it's mostly Netflix, HBO Max and Disney+ that works, but feel free to tip on anything.
New seasons in 2024
Apart from new discoveries I'll surely get back to some old favourites from time to time. And some of them have some very interesting updates coming up.
Young Royals, season 3 (March)
Bridgerton, season 3 (May 16th and June 13th)
Emily in Paris, season 4
Heartstopper, season 3
Ginny and Georgia, season 3
Confirmed seasons but not confirmed year
Bridgerton, season 4
XO Kitty, season 2
That 90's show, season 2
Ginny and Georgia, season 4 (2025)
Thank you.
Thanks to all of you who've hade the patience to read at least one of these posts. I made them mostly for myself, to be honest, but I'm always glad if someone else enjoys it too! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you!

RIP Dr. Ruth, Richard Simmons, and Shannen Doherty
I was on vacation and wanted to combine multiple deaths that occured during my getaway:
Remembering Dr. Ruth Westheimer 1928-2024
Sex therapist and talk show host Dr. Ruth has died at 96. She became an icon in the Reagan 80s for her frank discussion of sexuality, most notably on her TV talk show Dr. Ruth Westheimer  (Lifetime 1984-1991). She was a staple of TV talk shows in the 80s and was often imitated, including Mary Gross who played her on SNL. She appeared as a fictionalized version of herself in Electric Dreams, an episode of Moonlighting, and an episode of Melrose Place. Worth checking out is the 2019 documentary Ask Dr. Ruth directed by Ryan White (who I interviewed in 2022).

Remembering Richard Simmons 1948-2024
Fitness guru Richard Simmons has died at 76. Of all TV aerobics instructors he was one of the biggest personalities. In the 1980s he had many fitness videos including "Sweatin' to the Oldies" and like Dr. Ruth, he was a frequent guest on talk shows. He appeared in a 1994 episode of SNL (in a Coffee Talk sketch) and Eddie Murphy portrayed Little Richard Simmons, a mashup impression of Simmons and Little Richard. Within pop culture, Simmons appeared in several movies and TV shows as a fictionalized version of himself on a number of shows including a 1985 episode of Amazing Stories and some episodes of Arrested Development. In recent years there have been podcasts about him and there's a biopic in the works with Pauly Shore set to play him.

Remembering Shannen Doherty 1971-2024
Sad news that actress Shannen Doherty died at 53 after a long battle with cancer. She was actually an early crush of mine circa late 80s. My favorite performances of hers were: Heather Duke in the 80s teen masterpiece Heathers, as Brendan Walsh on Fox's Beverly Hills, 90210 from 1990-1994, and as Rene in Kevin Smith's Mallrats. Smith's follow up to Clerks was a bigger budget movie and thanks to Doherty he had a big name star in it. When I met Smith in 1997, I had him sign my 1995 Film Threat with him and Doherty on the cover and he jokingly drew a mustache on her! I was a fan of the first 2 or 3 seasons of 90210, but it's really sad that since this teen show that was on when I was a teen, we've lost Luke Perry in 2019 and now Doherty (for the teen cast that is).
Tumblr media
Jason Lee and Doherty in Mallrats
She got her start as a child / teen actress. Early roles included voice acting in The Secret of NIMH, Night Shift (still my favorite Ron Howard movie), TV's Our House (NBC 1986-1988), and then the 90210 era. She played herself in an episode of Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult, and she returned to the View Askewnaverse as herself in Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. She hosted SNL in 1993 with the great "Denise Show" sketch where Adam Sandler is pining for his ex played by Doherty.
Tumblr media
Alf and Doherty
In 1987 to promote NBC's Saturday Morning TV season, they had a promotional special Alf Loves a Mystery, with Alf trying to solve a mystery...with the help of NBC TV shows. Doherty, who was on Our House at the time, appeared as a The Lady in Red. After the passing of Alf's Benji Gregory and now Doherty, it's a tough week for Alf fans like me :(

Why Do We Love...
Shannen Doherty
We continue with this series called "Why Do We Love" in which we share the love for our muses on their birthday, and today is Shannen Doherty's turn!
Tumblr media
[The typical 1990s Shannen/Brenda image. Shannen in 1991 by Mario Casilli]
It was the early 1990s, a Friday evening at our granny's. She was watching the telly, "Beverly Hills 90210", with the Spanish title "Sensación de Vivir" (roughly translated as Feel of Living). There was this beautiful tiny brunette girl called Brenda, who had a twin brother called Brandon, and she was passionate about acting, and she was trying her best to be a good student and a good girl, but sometimes, of course, she did mistakes. And we fell in love with her! Maybe because she was petite like us, or brunette like us, or was a twin like us!
Tumblr media
[The Beverly Hills gang pictured in 1991 by Andrew Semel]
Then we kind of "forget" her and, even we knew when we were teens that she was playing a good modern witch in Charmed, we didn't watch that show (I don't know why, since the subject was very appealing to us. Maybe our parents were watching something else on the telly at the time the show aired?). We were more focused on Drew Barrymore at that time, anyway.
But then, when we were in our late teens or early twenties, through a website I created for some of my favourite actresses, I "reconnected" with Shannen! And then I learnt she had been acting since she was 11, and that she had an amazing rock/grunge fashion sense when she was young!
Tumblr media
[Shannen as Jenny Wilder in "Little House of the Prairie". She was there in the last 2 seasons, 1982 & 1983, and some farewell films from 1983 & 1984]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Beautiful Shannen in 1992 & 1993]
We also found out that in the 1990s she was hated by many Hollywood men influencers, as she was a very strong and confident woman, she was always voicing her opinion and not everyone agreed, so they labelled her as difficult. She was also followed with the press everywhere all of the time. She made some mistakes and bad decisions, as she is human, but the tabloids were always there annoying her, which fe found very sad, as she was just a young girl who wanted to live from her dream, from her art and from her craft.
Tumblr media
[Shannen as Brenda in Beverly Hills, in the fourth season of the show, her last]
We finally re-watched all the 4 seasons of Beverly Hills in which Shannen was (the so called "Brenda Years"), and although today it looks very sexist (as Brandon can do what he wants and he is the good boy, while his sister Brenda always gets punished for things she does that are not as bad as her brother's), back in the day broke many stereotypes about teenagers and the issues they faced with friends, lovers, sex, alcohol, drugs, racism, sexism, animals rights... it was interesting to see that some things were very dated but some others were still very current subjects.
Tumblr media
[Shannen as Brenda in Season 3, some of our favourite looks]

[Some of our favourite looks of Shannen as Brenda in season 4 of Beverly Hills, her last]
We also recently watched "Charmed", not only the first 3 seasons starring Shannen, but some others as well. It might have been one of the first TV shows for wide audiences about witches, demons, good/evil and special effects. I personally loved her Prue character, although not always agreed with her. She was the oldest sister and wanted to protect her younger sisters, and kept them together. I also like that they lived together in an old Victorian house in San Francisco. She was at her most beautiful in this TV show, and she also got to direct the last 3 episodes in which she appeared.
Tumblr media
[Shannen as the good witch Prue Halliwell in Charmed]
Shannen is also an activist and author, besides being an actress, director and model. She fights for animal rights, she is an animal lover since she was a little girl, and she supports the Sea Shepherd Sea Society. Shannen is a vegetarian and is against animal captivity.
Tumblr media
[Shannen in 2015 for the "World Love For Dolphins Day" rallying against the dolphin's slaughter in Taiji, Japan, with the Sea Shepherd]
Shannen is also a cancer survivor, she suffered a breast cancer in 2015 that went to remission on 2017 but came back on 2020. However, this hasn't stopped her acting or making her voice loud for animals' rights, people's rights (when her house was burned on a fire she sued the insurance company, and many other owners joined her), or actors' rights (recently she posted about how her acting union didn't support her when she was sick and couldn't work).
Tumblr media
[Shannen in 2016 with dogs rescued from the meat factories in South East Asia by the Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation, in Los Angeles]
She is very strong and despite all the hate she has received and all the hardships she has endured, Shannen is a warm and lovely woman according to her fans, and she finally is receiving the love and recognition from press and people that she's always deserved. We met her very recently and we are very excited too!! She was very sweet and lovely!
Today, for her 52nd birthday, we wanted to share with all of you, dear followers, how we knew about Shannen and what made us love her.
Here we share:

i was tagged by @theyarebothgunshot to talk about 8 shows to get to know me. thank you for tagging me! putting this under the cut because i ramble.
In no particular order:
1: the oc/gossip girl: yeah okay i’m cheating right off the bat by conflating these two but i don’t care it makes sense! besides being from the same creator/production team, i think in many ways they are natural inverses of each other (west coast/east coast, new money/old money, evolving beyond what people expect of you vs buying into your own propaganda etc). listen i am a sucker for teen dramas, always have been and always will be, and i think these two changed the game in a BIG way. neither are thee mothership of the genre (i think that goes to beverly hills 90210???) but they are both so compelling in different ways and i very often find myself thinking about them (also in very different ways) years after watching them, and subconsciously compare characters on other shows to the main cast of each and they always fall short (you will never be blair waldorf you will never be seth cohen etc). plus the soundtracks! incredible. i can talk about the oc in particular for days and how it has what every other teen show secretly needs (sandy cohen) but this is already too long and i need to shut up.
2. miranda (bbc): listen. LISTEN. i re-watch this show every year without fail. it is the ultimate cozy feel good show that also somehow punches me in the face with how much of an Experience it is. i can’t describe to you what it was like watching this silly little comedy for the first time, getting sucker punched so thoroughly (in the best way) over and over and then to finally have the most satisfying conclusion i could have imagined. references from this show take up a not-insignificant amount of my vocabulary and i quote it daily. it’s so good. i love it so much.
3. friday night lights: anyone who has watched this show knows why. it’s so hard to explain, it’s just good. as someone who has never given even the slightest shit about any sports game of any kind, i think the highest compliment i could give this show is that it made me cry about football more than once. the only people i know who don’t love this show simply have not seen it (actually, people don’t talk about this show enough anymore?? that’s so sad). when i think of my favorite shows, i always have to include fnl because it’s just so sincerely excellent. i own two fnl t-shirts and i will gush about it unprompted if you give me even the tiniest window to do so. texas forever, clear eyes full hearts etc. micheal b jordan you will always be vince howard to ME.
4. gilmore girls: this one actually surprises even me because i never talk about it on tumblr dot com lol but i literally have it on as background noise as i type and it’s almost always my default when i just want to put something on that’s comforting. it’s weird because i can’t really say i LIKE the show as a whole but it’s so cozy (at least the first five seasons) and i do have a LOT of opinions about it, but in a kind of low-stakes way where it’s fun to think about instead rage-inducing. it’s strangely enough, something i can talk about for hours (and often do) without even realizing it.
5. smallville: oh my god the way i was obsessed with this show in middle school lmaoo the way it’s not technically GOOD but also it kind of is? full disclosure i’ve only seen the last few seasons like, once but i used to have the first five or six seasons practically MEMORIZED. it’s a good time, and while i don’t know much about the superman comics (or any comics) it’s my....favorite? iteration of superman that i’ve seen? idk, i thought tom welling and kristin kreuk were the two most beautiful people i’ve ever seen in my life and i loved watching them make out. also michael rosembaum was an incredible lex luthor and i stand by that. i also find myself talking about this show a lot in real life.
6. lost: one thing about me is that i WILL go off about how the lost finale was good actually and NO they were not dead the entire time you idiot -  at any given opportunity. it IS one of the five petty, inconsequential hills i will die on. it’s a good show with a good and fitting ending FIGHT ME ABOUT IT. also sawyer/juliet supremacy their reunion scene in the finale is the scene i compare all other romantic scenes to. nothing compares. scene of all time.
7. hey arnold: i know it’s a cartoon shut up! but consider this: it’s beautiful and good. i legitimately watch it all the time because it’s so funny and melancholy and sad and smart and the soundtrack slaps. also finally getting the jungle movie (which was a conclusion to a HUGE cliffhanger from my childhood) was proof that sometimes you can get closure, actually! this happened before reboots became unnecessary and exhausting leave me alone
8. supernatural: i watched this show after thee november fifth and it accidentally became my whole personality. i don’t even know.
honorable mentions: selfie abc (if you haven’t heard me whine about how it’s the one show in the world i actually want a reboot for you simply haven’t known me long enough); my mad fat diary (i will be thinking about finn writing ‘i love you’ on rae’s back for the rest of my life), ugly betty (i just love it a lot)
tagging: @bisansastarks @buttobstacle @mmaddens @richonnies @dwcas, @coachlasso @wordybee @ilarual @hauntedpearl @burgundyshoes @someoldlady @that-gender-bender @bananaleaves @korralone and anyone else who sees this and would like to do it!

Do you ship anyone in this rewatch of 90210 (besides the obvious romance between brandon and dylan lmaoo) since it’s been a while for you?
LOL. I don't know if I would say I ship anyone, it's more like ... in the first two seasons especially I was like, oh yeah, child Zal wanted Andrea and Brandon to get together and I absolutely see why
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and they have more chemistry than people give them credit for, especially when they're both passionate about something and are arguing/debating or teasing each other in the office, and also physically, like when she kisses him just before going into the Peach Pit
Tumblr media
and he just nods like yeah, let's - let's go inside, he was ready for that present, lmao and watching it now, I think they had very screwball comedy tension and it could've worked, like I actually think they would've been a crackling ship. And I think a Steve/Andrea/Brandon triangle would actually be compelling to watch.
I also liked quite a few moments between Kelly and Dylan,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can't lie, even when they were being incredibly shitty
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like season 3 Dylan is the Dylan where I'm like this isn't my thing but I can understand how he got his reputation
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like when they joke around/are playful and they had some of the type of angst that I go for
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then with Brenda and Dylan, I just liked watching their chemistry,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like, you two aren't even together here??

Meghan's Poop hat clap back💩 (
Updated to include Harry's dereliction of duty.
She will never let the embarrassment of the 💩 hat go. "No one tells you what kind of hat to wear..."
Meghan, YOU refused advice to actually wear a hat on your outing with Queen Elizabeth. Sugar, no one can teach you because you don't listen nor do you follow instructions.
SMG calls her out on the 💩 hat because of course Meghan brought it up (AGAIN) during her MegFlix. The liar repeatedly states that she doesn't read social media or press, but here she is attempting to name & shame her critics. Further proving she's an insecure mean girl who lies and who bullies her critics.
Tumblr media
Harry's Dereliction of Duty
Tumblr media
Double Down "Mark-ellle" who cannot "take direction."°°°
Andrew Tate watched Meghan's performance on Oprah. He tried to help Meghan put an end to her lying. No surprise, she doubles down in megflix instead of getting much needed help.
#1-Why did she complain to Oprah about her performance? According to Meghan, she was the best to ever do the job since Diana.
"I thought you were amazing at the job, I thought you nailed it?" -A. Tate
#2-Tate is right, Harry only had 1 job. There is nothing admirable about a man who knowingly threw his country under the bus by choosing a bride based on the guidance of his hormones and her promise to give him a lifetime of naughty 90210 scenes. (Dereliction of Duty)
What's even worse is that these two (2) dolts claim they followed their hearts to one another in the spirit of Princess Diana.🤦‍♀️
#3-Nobody expected Harry to choose a washed up, divorcee, low level D-list actress. The people expected Harry to choose better, like his older brother William did with his choice of Kate: a lady of quality who didn't need a class.
4- How Kate got it right: Kate learned on the job & she behaved herself. Kate was receptive. Kate paid attention and she was respectful.
5-A class for only 2 brothers! Tate is right😂 Just 2 of them! Why would any Palace have an ongoing class for something that should be a no brainer! Choose the lady who will best represent the people by loving God and country, not the girl who will best fulfill your sexual fantasies.
°°°While Lindsey Jill Roth-Gavin was a low level producer on the Larry King internet show, Suits allowed MM & Patrick to promote the 2nd season on Larry's new show.
(MeMe had recently mailed her rings back to Trevor. She was on the prowl and spoke as though she were flying high like a kite during the interview.)
Larry labeled Meghan "the office seductress" and instead of owning it, with daggers in her eyes Meghan said, "I dont know Larry..."
Larry King also asked Meghan a salient question: Meghan, "can you take direction?" Whoa Larry! Who planted THAT question?🤔 Too bad Meghan cant take a hint.
