The Sun Can Be Scary

I love the sun, and have always loved the sun, it is warm, safe, and beautiful in the sky. I have so many good memories related to the sun, days on the beach, eating ice cream in the summer air, and so much more. Though I now think about the sun differently and it was all because of something so unexpected. I don’t think anybody expected it, and I think people including me even didn’t know it existed, I mean who has heard about a solar storm? 

It has been years since that tragic storm hit Texas, but the sun still scares me to this day, even if that is such a rare experience and probably will never happen again. I just don’t think loving the sun as much as before will ever be the same. However, there is one thing that came out of that tragedy, and that is two things. One, I finally got my stuff together and asked Carlos to be my boyfriend because of the tragedy, which means possibly if we didn’t have it I might not have my husband today. Now, even that thought sounds awful so I am glad for that storm, and even more than that Carlos is ‘My Sun,’ he is my warmth, safe place, and everything else. Which of course makes me so happy to think about. 

Speaking of him I look in the kitchen and see ‘My Sun,’  cooking us dishes and I watch as I watch our twin daughters, Ashton and Ryan coloring and feel my lips twitch upwards in a smile. So maybe the sun is mixed for me, and I still feel both love and fear towards it, but as long as I have Carlos by my side I will be fine because he is my safety.

1. Which 911 Lone Star season finale is your favorite?

tossup between 1x10 and 4x18, i think. i love the way 1x10 ties everything together, tk telling the 126 about his addiction, the way everyone comes together in the solar storm, the tarlos of it all.... it's such a beautiful ep

4x18 is just.... the wedding is unmatched, and i love the message of enduring love in the face of grief and pain. i struggle with this episode sometimes because it's overall pretty heavy and all three storylines dealing with grief can be a bit much, but i really do think it was beautifully done ultimately, and i'll never be over the wedding of it all

2. What was your favorite moment from the season 4 finale?

carlos's vows, i would say. they were so validating, confirming hcs i'd had about him being sort of isolated before tk, and just a lot of my overall thoughts about his character. that doesn't happen very often for me, and it was really cool to see the writing agree so much with what i'd been thinking about him for months, i love feeling like the writers get me

3. Are there any storylines that you would like to see brought back for a more satisfying conclusion?

this isn't really a storyline, but i really want exploration of nancy's sexuality after that line in 3x17. i do think it was a nod to her being bi and i'd love to see that more explored, or at the very least, said explicitly in the writing. i think it's such an important statement and works so well with her character

4. Pick one character and tell us where you hope to see them at the end of season 5.

i hope to see carlos loved and feeling at peace, not necessarily fully over his dad's death but feeling like he can move forward, one day at a time, and know it'll get easier. i hope he's having the best married life he could ask for and he's happy and healthy and aware that so many good things are in his future <3

5. What is one thing you really want to see before the show ends?

honestly i just want to see all of them together and happy. i'm a simple woman i want 126 shenanigans and lovely domestic tarlos and i'm set. i hope, no matter what happens, the show ends on a happy/hopeful note.

(1) Which 911 Lone Star character redemption moment is your favorite?

I said this last week too. But 1x10 when TK tells everyone at the firehouse that he's an addict and wants to stay with them and then finally gets together with Carlos.

Also 3x13 for Carlos - and if you haven't read @paperstorm's missing moment for that episode yet go read it. She adds exactly what I wanted to see :)

(2) Is there a character you think deserved more of an on screen redemption moment than we got in the show?

I would have liked to see more of Carlos and his parents/the rest of his family repairing their relationship. Definitely more than the moment with Carlos and Gabriel at the end of 2x08. Redemption for Gabriel is not meant to be tho 😭

(3) Is there a recurring (or even one-time guest) “villain” that you would like to see return with a redemption arc? Or if not, is there a “villain” you absolutely would not want to see get a redemption?

I don't think I remember all the villains, I remember the neonazis(definitely don't wanna see them ever again), Billy and Sadie. Billy already got as much redemption as I care for he's always been like a frenemy anyway. Sadie, I don't care to see again and it would be really weird if we did considering she committed so many crimes.

(4) Are there any unresolved conflicts from the first four seasons that you wish were reconciled on screen?

I could be here forever explaining all the moments that I wanted more redemption or resolution shown on screen on this show. (See answer for number 2) And also the entire 4x03-4x04 Carlos and TK's fight doesn't get any resolution because Carlos then gets kidnapped and it's more important that he's okay. Later in season 4 Tommy and Judd are fighting and it affects everyone else on the show but then Wyatt gets hurt so I guess their fight is over. I'll stop now hehe

(5) Which main character would you like to have a more developed backstory?

We know barely anything about Nancy's backstory. Give us, like, a crumb to go on I'm begging. 😔

I also want to know every single detail about my baby Carlos Reyes 😊

1. Which character death in 911 Lone Star hit you the hardest?

gabriel's, for sure. i was in denial that they would actually kill him all the way up until they did it. i don't think it's fully sunk in yet. it probably won't until s5 starts and they reference it and i'll have to face it head on lol. ik it was the very point of the storyline but thinking about everything carlos lost in losing his dad, the potential of their relationship.... it was a lot, especially within the context of the end of s4. really excited to see what they do with this in s5!

also, as many have said, the astronaut call from 1x10 hit me really hard. every time i rewatch, i know it's coming, but it still ruins me.

2. What is your favorite grief-related moment in the show?

i think the carlos owen conversation in 4x18 is probably my favorite. what owen says about not letting obsession ruin his life, him giving carlos knowledge he probably wished someone would have given him when he was grieving his brother, his old crew, etc is just...it's really beautifully done, especially as we've watched owen grapple with the consequences of the way he handled his grief

i also love the 126 getting together to pay tribute to tim at the end of 2x07, and tommy asking tk if he'd be interested in going to the grief group with her. the scene where she asks him is so sweet and i love how much care these characters have for each other, her knowing how that group's helped her and wanting to share that with tk.

3. Do you think there will be a character death in season 5? If so, any guesses about who it might be?

i really really hope not lol the only one i can think of enzo, that's why he's showing up to texas out of nowhere

4. Which living character's death would destroy you the most?

any of them tbh. they're all so close, such a tight-knit family, that losing any of them would mean not only grieving that character but also watching the rest of them be destroyed over it and that would be so awful

5. Which character's childhood trauma do you think was most significant in shaping them?

feels like a cop out to say this but truly all of them? i don't like comparing trauma because things that are "objectively" the worst may affect someone less than someone else being more affected by something that may not have been objectively bad.

but things like owen having such a hero complex because of all the people he wasn't able to save (his brother, his old crew, etc), marjan being such a fierce and loyal friend and placing so much value in that due to losing a dear friend at a young age, judd losing a friend as well and sort of losing himself in the way the aftermath played out, tk dealing with the fallout of his parents' divorce, the way 9/11 changed everything for their family, paul being so atuned to the details of a situation so he could watch out for anything that could harm him, developing that sense of threat assessment, as he figured out his identity, mateo being forever changed by losing a cousin he was so close with, nancy dealing with how to move forward after losing tim in such a horrifying, tragic way, carlos signing himself up for a life he didn't want and struggled to be okay with because he was so affected by the way his parents reacted to him coming out.... it's hard to truly say because i think they've all been so impacted by what they been through, it's impossible to separate that from who they are
