Finally got around to drawing a fandom-favorite! Here’s my version of Enoch, with bonus clay guys :)

it is kinda crazy that jacob drugged alma and left three little kids with only hugh, a teenager who might have been abusing alcohol, to care for them

It was the most stupidly irresponsible thing Jacob could do. It saddens me even more to know that the person who planned this was Millard, who is probably the peculiar with the most advanced mental age (he is around 18/19 years old) and in theory he should be responsible. He practically drugged his own mother.

They could wait for her to leave for a meeting, something else safer. But not. They simply left, leaving her drugged and completely unprotected.

So many things could have gone wrong. What protection did children have? Two preschool children, a pre-teen with cowardly tendencies, a depressed teenager and an adult unconscious for an indefinite period of time. In an emergency how would they escape? They would have to carry the body of the unconscious ymbryne to be able to save herself. If the police arrived? Without Alma to erase the memories, the children would hardly know how to resolve the situation. If a wight attacked? They all died without a shadow of a doubt . If they didn't die, they would suffer worse things.

Not for a single second did Jacob or any of the children who hung out with him think about it.

I reread some excerpts from AMOD, my birds, the peculiar society of the USA collapsed without ymbrynes. The normal slavers murdered the ymbrynes, which left the remaining peculiars leaderless, This caused the peculiars to reflect in their society the evils of normal society. Completely racist loops came into existence! Exclusive loops for Peculiars of a single type are now accepted and standardized, these extremely problematic loops evolved into clans. It was a succession of catastrophic events happening and generating a completely chaotic peculiardom in the USA.

It's so sad to know that the peculiars of North America are limited to these terrible options. And the ymbrynes can't fix any of that.

I hope that in Latin countries things are calmer.

Horatio appeared twice in A Map of Days and Conference of the Birds /don’t remember exactly, this two fused together in my head/and literally starring in last ten chapters of The Desolations of Devil's Acre.

He has more context in his few chapters of presence than anyone else has in six books!

His contradictory feelings for H, the decision to protect the children by prioritizing their lives over his own even though he doesn't have to actually. The consequences are for adults [yeah, Jacob?], so Horatio loses his arm while saving kids. None of other characters were injured equally.

Horatio is responsible and has a strong sense of duty. He's also the only person in the damn series who speaks straight without being inappropriately mysterious. Jacob needed it. I needed it.

Horatio is stoic, strong and golden-hearted mentor figure im not sure about father figure i see him more like teacher / mentor

Another one thing I want to specify:

Horatio's appearance

We have this picture in book and i like it BUT he was described in the text as blond so—

He looks so young my poor little meow meow;;

— so I immediately associated him with Nanami Kento from Jujutsu Kaisen anime

Nanami-san is sharing same character features [stoic, strong and golden-hearted mentor figure]. He's calm and responsible. ALSO! he’s wearing glasses completely covering his eyes almost all the time.

Stylish... handsome man...

All right, all right, I'll stop simping! Just one more thing! His way of speaking sounds a little mechanical, so the voiceover suits Horatio, too

always comes to mind when fan casting any dark, beautiful, seductive witchy character. Not to stereotype but she's just got that face and energy that's perfect for that sort of a role. And also her voice good Lord

Have you ever stopped to think that...

Caul was appearing in Peregrine's dreams and this may have contributed to her sleeping less in "map of days. Precisely to avoid nightmares about him and out of concern for the children too. But when Millard put her in a "coma" with Mother Dust's dust, she was trapped in a sleep from which she couldn't wake up for many hours. Caul must have disturbed her for all those endless hours of "sleep".
