Why aren't u talking about the UNIT TV series? Thought you'd be excited.

Well, Anon, I guess my answer to that is three-fold.

1 - I very much disliked what RTD did with UNIT in his first go round - specifically, the fact that he made Doctor Martha Jones into a soldier. As far as I'm concerned that was just spite. So I don't trust him not to fuck it up.

2 - It's not an official announcement yet, and until it is, I am not going to assume it'll happen.

3 - I REALLY bloody LOVE Big Finish's version of UNIT with Kate, Osgood, Sam Bishop, Colonel Shindi, Captain Carter, temporally displaced Harry Sullivan (yes, THAT Harry Sullivan for those of you who've seen Fourth Doctor era Classic Who!) temporally displaced Naomi Cross, and investigative journalist Jacqui Magee who goes from thorn in Kate's side to a valued member of the team. And if this TV spin-off goes ahead, we'll likely lose UNIT from Big Finish. And, TBH, I'd rather have them in the hands of BF than in the hands of RTD.

What's your favorite kind of cat?

'Nonymouse why would you ask such a question. All cats are good cats and my favorite kind of cat is the one I get to pet.

That said, my heart loves a mid-length coat; not too fussy to take care of and so soft to pet. Silver/smoke or blue cats are just. so pretty. and kinda look magic.

on the other end, I probably wouldn't seek out a persian or a hairless breed. I don't want a chicken breast running around my house or an animal that can't breathe.

How aboit It'sALoveSong?

For this writing meme.

ItsALoveSong is my baby. The bones are an idea I’ve been carrying around since… God, 2010, I think? It’s followed me through fandoms and I thought I might’ve found a home with it in Leverage, but then I found Lucifer and the rest is history. After all, what’s better for an Orpheus & Eurydice retelling than a story about the actual devil?

Writing it also coincided with me being rec’d the Hadestown soundtrack (how appropriate!) and I spent literally months listening to that over and over while I wrote. Highly rec.

In any case, I hope to publish this sometime this year. It needs a lot of work, and idk if this scene is going to even end up in the finished version, but here you go:

The woman was waiting patiently, watching her with regret in her eyes. “You should turn around and go home,” she said. “There’s nothing for you here.”

“I can’t,” Chloe said immediately. “I can’t leave him here.”

“Ah,” the woman said. She nodded, understanding coming over her features. “You’re here for love.”

Chloe shrugged and nodded. She was here because her conscience wouldn’t let her rest if she didn’t at least try to get Lucifer back. And her conscience wouldn’t let her rest because she loved him. She had to get to him, and whatever came after that, they could fight together and get home. But if she couldn’t get across this river…

“You know this never works,” the woman said, shaking her head. “Love is never enough, no matter what they’ve told you.”

“I still have to try,” Chloe said, but doubt was starting to creep through her, tendrils of uncertainty worming through her thoughts. She could turn around, walk right back out of the tunnel, climb down the cliff, and go home to her family. She didn’t need to do this. She-

But he would do it for her. That was the thought that kept her circling back. He would do it for her, and she could do no less for him. Could love him no less.

By the time the horns blew, Chrom had been watching the cliffs for the better part of an hour, keeping idle conversation with Sully to pass the time.  But as soon as that sound echoed out over the canyon, he came to full attention, practically vibrating as he watched Amber pick her way down into the canyon and trot out to greet them, her rider beaming from his place in the saddle.  “Welcome back, Chrom!”

“It’s good to see you, Robin!”  The sovereign’s boots had barely touched the ground before the prince pulled him into a tight embrace, feeling Robin’s laughter vibrate through him when he returned it.  “It’s been too long,” Chrom mumbled into the young man’s shoulder. 

“It has,” Robin agreed.  “But you’re here now.  That’s what matters.”

He felt his heart glow at those words, spoken so softly that they could only have been meant for his ears alone.  After another long moment -- well beyond what would be considered proper by Frederick’s standards (not that he cared much for those, overbearing as they were) -- the prince pulled back a bit, his hands still resting lightly on the Plegian sovereign’s arms.  “I’m glad to see you again,” he grinned.  “Thanks again for having us back.”

“It’s our honor and my pleasure,” Robin smiled, his eyes crinkling warmly at the corners.  “I was worried when you wrote that you couldn’t come this spring -- I had begun to think we might not meet this year.”

“The council’s been overbearing lately,” Chrom groaned, rolling his eyes toward the overcast sky above the cliffs.  “They’ve been starting to make noises about me ‘abandoning my duties’ as captain of the Shepherds by taking all these trips to Plegia -- which is ridiculous, I’m acting in Ylisse’s interests on Emm’s behalf, which I’d think would be more important than heading up the militia!  Plus the Shepherds can hold things together well enough without me, they were doing it well enough before I took over and they’ve done it just as well the past few years...but I still had to stay back a few extra months to placate them.”  Lowering his voice a bit, he added, “I really didn’t want to go a year without seeing you.”  He’d have done just about anything to ensure they met again -- even if that meant sneaking out of the halidom on his own. 

The sovereign beamed, his gloved hands settling on the prince’s forearms.  “You’re sure it won’t cause any trouble, being in Plegia through the winter…?”

“Completely,” Chrom nodded.  “Nothing really happens in winter.  With all the snow we get it’s hard to get around, so everyone just stays put for the most part.  There are a few feasts and some celebrations, just to liven things up a little -- when it gets so grey and cold out, you need something to cheer things up after a while --  but there aren’t any important festivals or holy days or anything like that, so they couldn’t find the grounds to protest.”  

“Perhaps we should have timed our invitation for winter from the outset, rather than summer,” Robin chuckled.  “Though, truth be told, I don’t regret how it all worked out.”

“No?” the prince smiled, leaning close enough that their foreheads nearly touched. 

“Not in the least,” the young man agreed.

My question about whether or not you're leaving CA is rescinded; I just saw on MarzGurl's tumblr that you haven't made any announcement/plans regarding that. It's just heresay from some random nonymouse. Anyways, thanks for the good times in the past.

Sooo, yeah, got this one and another before I announced my departure. XD  Yes, I had been contemplating leaving for a while and we (Suede, SF Debris, and I) made a plan a day or two before we did it. Not sure where people starting making the assumption any of us were leaving beforehand because we were keeping quiet about it, but there you go.

Actual Pock Lore: My sister in fandom @mistr3ssquickly used to call me Pockity, via this disney classic:

So when I wanted to change from the weeby Pocky-based handle I used to have I went with that.

turns out HockityPockity is a pain in the ass to type though, so it got shortened....there are a few places where someone got to the short one first though so there are variations.

To shorten it, I do prefer Pock over Hock. i don't know who hock is and it always takes me a minute.

It is also not "Puck", of Shakespearian fame.

46: Describe your perfect writing space.

Ooooo my perfect writing space! Let’s see...

There’s a desk facing the wall, right up against it. It’s clear of all mess and there’s a candle on the corner of it that’s lit to make everything smell good. Probably it is some kind of like apple pie candle or something, idk.

I’ve got a swank chair to sit in and my writing laptop is right in the center of the desk. Above it, on the wall where I can see it whenever I look up, is a giant erasable calendar that has Important Writing Dates written on it so I always know my schedule.

On the floor next to the desk is a crate and inside the crate is a bunch of wrapped presents for myself, each marked with a wordcount. Whenever I hit that wordcount, I get to open a present and be surprised at what I bought myself because I have an awful memory.

Probably there are plants in the room and a dog bed for the dog and somewhere for the cats to sit that isn’t on me. It is definitely not right next to the cat litter room like it is now, where all I can smell is cat litter. Yuck.

One day I’m gonna have this writing space, mark my words.

Which of your characters would become your best friend?

Zharpie.  Warm hugs.  I don’t know for sure but I just feel like we could have a lot of fun together.

Which of your characters would become your sworn enemy?

Ambrose.  He knows what he did.  Technically I have multiple characters who are worse than him in pretty much every conceivable way, but he’s just.  Such an infuriating little prick. 

Are you open to co-writing a story? 

Yes.  Eternally.  I have a couple of collaborative projects brewing with different amazing people but I am always open to exploring new ideas and concepts!

Just popping in to say thank you for recommending the Domestic Monsters series on here recently. I'd never read it and just spent the whole weekend wrapped up in it. What a lovely, immersive fic. Hope the author finishes it at some point, but either way it's amazing and worth the read. So thanks. Have a lovely evening!
