Aaaaaa totk is so so close I'm vibrating up the ✨walls✨

I literally didn't manage to watch the final trailer/gameplay because I saw the tents in hyrule castle square and got so excited I had to quit the video, which I NEVER do.

But I've never been part of a community AS the source is still growing, especially not one I've written and read so many fics for, imagined so much for. I saw those tents and my little fanfic heart exploded because how many times have I seen them in writing?? And now they're IN CANON?? IN THE GAME?? Gosh, it's like our fics and art have all become true and real, it's canon, it's a 3d world we'll be able to run around in and climb and talk to the people about.

Zelda!!!! I don't know what happened to her still (AGAIN DO NOT TELL) and I know her powers have greatly weakened so I hope we get to see her sciencing her little heart out. Maybe not with the guardians they're probably a sore point but she might get into idk history or architecture or wassit called the study of plants with her silent princesses. Ooh maybe she side hustles as a priestess or smth.

I can't WAIT to see tarrey town, and all the capitals flourishing now the divine beasts and malice is gone. I hope we get a champions statue - of either generation, really. Oh the RANCH I hope so dearly the ranch is being repaired and has cows and horses in it again I'd cry if that happened.

The plateau is probably going up I can't remember the details of the trailers but Hylia PLEASE have some new dialogue I can't have the same 'now go and bring peace to hyrule' MA'AM I DID THAT AND NOW THERE'S ANOTHER PROBLEM.

Fr the lu fics are probably going to be one of my favourite parts of the release, we were already going feral with our ideas and stories when totk wasn't even a whisper in the wind, and then the first trailer I saw fics with an entirely underground hyrule and then the flying island trailer we went BESERK and when the game comes out?? I'm checking back in a week and I bet there's already a 50k fic waiting. I know I'm going to be scribbling furiously.

Spiraltown - Chapter 2: The robot

Ren gently traced her finger around the rim of the teacup, feeling the energy from the tea leaves inside, letting the images form in her mind.

This has always been how she was able to perceive the world. Despite being physically blind, Ren has the ability to “see” with her third eye. The third eye allows her to see things beyond human vision, such as energy, auras, spirits, etc. You see, everything produces some kind of vibration that’s distinctive from each other. Here I’ll put some simple illustrations to show what Ren’s “vision” might look like.

On the left is how other people see Igor, and on the right is how Ren “sees” him. It is a combination of Igor’s soul, aura and emitted energy. Note that Ren doesn’t see the background in black, it’s just how I draw so that the image can be more visible.

The same logic can be used towards living beings and inanimate objects. The stronger the aura/energy, the clearer and brighter/darker the images will be.

That’s enough lore explanation for now. I don’t want to stray far from the story. Now, let’s get back to where we were.

Upon seeing the divination result, the tall lady’s blank expression changed slightly, for the worse. Something was coming, and it seemed to be unfavorable for the blind diviner.

And then, that fateful day finally came. Nah, just saying that for extra fancy, it’s actually the following day.

It’s a rather average Saturday. Igor was chilling on his couch, playing video games with headphones covering his ears. On the table was a Donu(t) in a paper box and a cup of Deca(f) coffee, the most favored food and drink combo in town, and also Igor’s favorite thing to buy. And of course, our angry guy was so focused on his games, that he couldn’t see what was going on. Not even when his neighbor, Solanine, came over.

Solanine stood behind Igor, watching him play video games. Clearly he didn’t know that she was behind him. Well, how about a little jumpscare? Just as that thought crossed her mind, she took out a shiv in her pocket, and pressed it against the guy’s neck. “AAAAARGH!!!” Igor screamed and took off his headphones immediately, just as expected. “I knew this was the only way to make you stop.” Solanine put the shiv away. “Damn it, why are you always pulling those f*cking pranks!?! You’re going to give me a f*cking heart attack!!!” “Cuz you were too focused on the game. Anyway, I got you something, take a look.” 

Behind Solanine was a huge carton box. Apparently it’s a housekeeping robot of the Roomba brand. “No way, a limited-edition Roomba? Has a built-in AI model? Can recharge itself? This is awesome! Damn, how did you get it?” “I asked an acquaintance. You always make a mess out of everything when you’re mad so I think you need an assistant. Don’t worry about the price, you know I am paid well. But still, it’s cheaper than I thought, and I’m not sure why…”

So both of them opened the carton box and started assembling the robot just as the instruction said. And then they turned it on. “Hello.” The robot spoke. It looked around, and stopped at the Donu on the table.

On the other hand, Ren was scrolling down the street. The street was surprisingly empty, without anyone around for some reason. But then, an angry scream was heard from across the street. The blind lady’s sharp ears recognized Igor’s voice immediately. Sparks of red appeared in Ren’s aura, as she darted towards Igor’s house with an astounding speed, paying no attention to the surroundings. And just as she arrived and the red in her aura died out, she noticed that the gates were open. Igor was still screaming. The blind lady slowly approached the door and gave it a few knocks. And of course, the one answering was Solanine, who was holding her phone.

“Thank goodness Ren, you’re here! Come in, you’ll understand what is going on.” Solanine tried to contact someone, but to no avail. Ren turned towards Igor, and he was yelling… a robot?

“I said: Give me back my Donu! And go clean the house!!!” “No. By the way, the Donu is delicious.” The robot replied, then consumed the rest of the Donu. Wait, it didn’t have a mouth, how did it…?

Solanine turned to the robot, and looked at her phone again, while letting out a sigh. “I knew it, I’ve been scammed. They don’t answer my calls.” Igor was furious. He started mumbling. “Damn it… this stupid robot, it’s broken! This Roomba robot… no, Roomba your *ss, it’s supposed to be a Doomba! Yes, your name is Doomba!! You stupid Doomba!!!” “Good name. I like it.” The robot replied, much to the guy’s anger. Then it turned towards Ren, waving its arm. “Hello! I am Doomba.”

Solanine started explaining. Basically she bought this housekeeping robot for Igor, but the robot seemed to suffer from some hardware damage. They thought it was just some minor damage and there would be no big deal, until they realized that the robot had become sentient, with its own emotions and thoughts. And it refused to do the housework, which it was supposed to do.

Ren observed the robot for a while. “I believe I have foreseen this in our tea leaf readings.” Her voice remained calm and even. “The huge and chaotic change in our lives.”

Well, things are becoming more and more interesting…

Author’s notes:

So I actually used a bit of Fraymakers reference here. In the scene where Ren’s aura sparked some red, it is equivalent to the Watcher using her Wrath stance. In Fraymakers, the Watcher’s Wrath stance increases her movement speed and damage output, as well as the damage she takes. So I decided to incorporate that into this chapter. There were no enemies, so the movement speed increase was the only thing taking effect here.

Also I’d like to imagine that Ren’s “vision” becomes blurry in this Wrath stance-equivalent state, only her target remains clear.

so, superior spider-man is actually NOT spider-man... kinda..

doctor octopus is dying in his weak body, and to be able to live, he tricks spider-man by letting a device he built attach to his brain while they fight. the device swaps their minds and doc ock takes control of spider-man, beating up peter in his weak body

at first, doc only wanted to use his body for his evil and twisted ways, however, when he switched bodies, he was flashed with all the memories of peter parker. this caused him to have a sort of,, change of heart. instead of DOING evil, he wanted to SERVE justice to evil.. in a kind of,, anti hero way though dhdh

like, he would beat up people BAD. im pretty sure he breaks someones jaw because he wasnt used to spider-mans power ( peter parker has to constantly hold back, because his strength is THAT high ) his ways of dealing justice were, obviously, something peter parker DIDNT agree on

so a little while later, peter in docs body, takes the device and finds spider-man to get his body back. during their fighting, peter is unsuccessful and doc KILLS peter

at first it was presented to the reader that, its OVER. like, peter is dead, now only doc ock remains. however, in a later issue, they actually brought peter back as a ghost who looked over docs desicions

peter, as a ghost, obviously had no control over what happened. so it was just issue after issue of ghost peter being like. OH. MY. GOD. first he beats up villains in a way i wouldnt, then he ruins my love life by dumping the girl i love for another one, and basically just DOING A BUNCH OF STUFF LIKE THAT

and like.. ok....... at least doc DOES learn something like, he DOES become more "human" in the sense that he now cares for others, even if the way he handles situations is kinda brutal. but still

get this, right. eventually, the next big villain, the green goblin, arises. the goblin doesnt work on "efficiency" or anything like that. he in fact often gives up rhe advantage because thats more "fun" to him. so naturally, someone like doc, who is more calculated, finds it difficult to battle him. this leads to him feeling like a failure and running back to his lab where he had a mind device built..

so,, he uses it to restore peters ghost back to his body by removing his new memories from peters body,,

and its like. thats all fine and stuff, it showed us how doc ock grew as a person just by being spider-man, going from an arrogant person to,, while still arrogant, at least appreciates human life and finds worth in it

IM JUST. AAAAARGH

in the future timeline series, its revealed that doc ock actually secretly kept a copy of his mind stored, which was set to revive him through putting his mind into a copy of a new body, where he could now be superior spider-man once again without messing with peters life ( peter owns parker industries and doesnt have time to be spider-man )

GET THIS RIGHT.... NORMAN OSBORN ( green goblin ) COMES BACK.... THIS TIME,,, ALTERNATE REALITY NORMAN OSBORN WHOS SPIDER-MAN AND HAS 6 ARMS. doc ock feels like a failure again

1. XQC astonishment that he is still capable of crying breaks my heart (only Meatbun can make me swing from anger at to heartbreak for the same character in the span of a paragraph.) But in a way, it feels a relief to me as a reader because crying is a sign of allowing yourself at least some humanity, some outlet - I flash back to his being in the hospital after the club, hearing someone else cry and thinking he doesn’t even have the right to that relief. Well, he does now, and in a Meatbun fashion, it is both hopeful (he has thawed, he has rejoined humanity, which he walled himself from as effectively as He Yu, even if in a different fashion) and devastating (it does not lessen the hurt he both feels and inflicts.)

2. He thinks he wants to leave a smooth path for people he cares for but the utter gulf between this sincere wish and what he is doing to He Yu, the damage he is inflicting! (When he tells He Yu that everything HY thought was signs of XQC’s feelings is merely pity, that is dooming He Yu to always second guessing his reading of people in the future - he would think that if he misinterpreted signals of a person he is so close to, he can never trust his interpretation of relationships and emotions. That would fuck up even a functional person, let alone He Yu who is not 100% clear on reality versus his imagination.) But I am not even angry any longer because XQC is just as damaged, or more so, than HY so how can one expect him to have healthy functioning and take on relationships?

3. And just when I am about to cry, MTL to the rescue:

4. HY is full on sobbing and XQC goes “you are always unhappy around me, see this is bad.” LIKE THE FUCK, WHEN DID YOU GET YOUR PHD FROM GASLIGHTER UNIVERSITY? He is crying because the man he loves dumped him and doesn’t want to see him and is telling he never loved him and also because HY feels guilty he pounced on XQC and (he thinks) freaked him out. This is sane, this is healthy, this is to be expected! XQC trying to twist it into “this means you are not happy with me and we shouldn’t be together” is insane! When you guys were together and happy, He Yu was not bawling at you all the time!

I snark so as not to scream, because he’s hitting at all of HY’s fears and insecurities and when he brings up the club as evidence that he and HY are no go and goes “I had PTSD from it” (and this is HY’s biggest regret (as it should be)) - I realize he’s pulling big guns in desperation but this is honestly beyond the pale. HY deserves to repent and suffer for the club. And it is right for XQC to bring up how vile HY was and how it affected XQC - but not when he is using it in such a deceitful fashion - they should sit down and talk about it, about what a wrong it was and how HY must atone and whatever - but not when XQC has fallen for HY and when he’s leaving him for other reasons but is using this as a lie that he never felt for HY. Congrats, HY won’t be by your side when you die and feel sad about it. He will just feel an abandoned monster deservedly unworthy of love, forever guilty, in doubt of being able to read anyone and THEN, if he doesn’t off himself by that point, he will find out the truth when XQC dies and feel extra trauma and guilt on top with that. Genius plan!

6. Chen Man forgot the maxim that eavesdroppers hear no good of themselves. Well, he heard nothing about himself but what he heard is...OK now two young men are wrecks, something fun is coming. Honestly, I am ready for HY go work for evil org or w/e and XQC can enjoy his peaceful pit of misery and aaaaargh!

Wednesday, February 13th

Today we set up the decorations at the Mandarin Oriental, and I do believe they turned out better this year with Marinette’s help. The hearts on the streamers were much straighter and a consistent distance from each other. I quite enjoyed helping her set them up, though I did not enjoy writing the thank-you cards for Allegra. They took over an hour to finish, and my wrist still aches from it. In fact, I am considering cutting this entry short for that exact reason. There wasn’t much left to tell about today, anyway. Marinette didn’t mention anything more about what’s troubling her- save for the fact that it isn’t resolved yet -and everything I did today was in preparation for the party tomorrow. Due to this, I am certain that tomorrow is bound to be more interesting. So I will save my ‘wrist strength’ for then.

Dear Diary,

I did it. I texted Adrien back and told him we could meet up on Thursday. Aaaaargh, I’m so nervous! I so don’t want to do this! But I can’t not do this because I know everyone deserves a second chance, ya know?? Ugh, somebody needs to stop me! Maybe an akuma can come up right before I get there.. Just this once.. Oh, who am I kidding, of course an akuma wouldn’t show up the one time I need it, and I really shouldn’t be wishing for a terrorist attack.. I’ll just have to suck it up and see how it goes. It can’t be that horrible having lunch with Adrien Agreste, right..?

Anyway (setting that tragedy aside) I helped Allegra and the others set up the Mandarin Oriental today, so it’s finally ready for the party! Well, mostly. Allegra still has to watch over the catering and stuff tomorrow morning, but other than that, we’re good! I swear I’m getting more excited each second. I keep squealing when I see my dress on the mannequin. This is gonna be so awesome! Everyone from Rosemary’s gonna be there, I think, and there’s gonna be dancing and flowers and candle light and gah! I can’t wait! I think I’m actually going to go to bed early tonight so tomorrow can come faster. (Though I’ll probably just end up eagerly rolling around in bed) That said, I’ll see you in the morning!
