An AI system that Generates Videos from Text | Perfectiongeeks
Generative AI is the new buzzword for 2023. Generative AI tools, whether text-generating ChatGPT or image-generating Midjourney, have revolutionised businesses and dominated content creation. Moreover, it is rapidly growing to be one of the most popular areas in the tech world thanks to Microsoft's partnership with OpenAI and Google's AI-powered chatbot Bard.Generative AIis a method that generates new data that is similar to the original training dataset. To learn the patterns and distributions in the training data, it uses machine learning algorithms called "generative models." Many generative models can produce text, images, and audio codes. This article will focus on generative video models.

something that really made me stop and interrogate my inherent knee jerk emotional reaction against ai art was asking myself if there really is a meaningful difference between someone cutting up images and pasting them together to make a collage without citing sources or getting permission for every image they used in the collage, and an ai generating a new image using models trained on existing images without citing courses or getting permission for every image used in the new image - if that's even possible, which i'm coming to understand isn't how the technology even works. like if your fundamental argument against ai is because it doesn't cite sources or ask for permission and change someone's art without their consent, there are a lot of non-ai art forms that involve that, and they've existed for a lot longer than ai has. when faced with this i don't think the answer is "well everyone who has ever made a collage or remixed a song is doing evil plagiarism too" so that leaves us at having to abandon this specific argument against ai for the same reasons.
and we have to ask ourselves, if we were to go after everyone who ever remixed a song or made a collage without permission, who would that benefit exactly? because the average person couldn't afford to sue someone for using their photo in a collage without consent, only corporations could. much like how copyright law has made music companies a tonne of money and serves to protect their interests, i don't think expanding copyright law is the answer here. which is why i don't think arguments against ai that focus on intellectual property are actually helpful, the problem isn't inherent to the technology but rather the economic system we live in.

Me cracking open my old physiology textbook in the summer to see if it’s plausible for Ais to feel through his horns (he probably can b/c they’re probably attached to his skull with living tissue connected there and it probably can’t regrow). Or if they could break off with minimal consequence (they can’t b/c they aren’t structured like antlers).

look i understand that ai generated content is a controversial topic, and ultimately protecting artists' intellectual property should take moral priority, but i feel like when people say "you don't want character.ai you want to rp with someone" they're kinda missing the point because unlike a chatbot, you can't exactly look your rp partner in the eye and say "that sucked ass. do that again"

want to give my two cents on the AI usage in the maestro trailer--
i think seventeen doing a whole concept that is anti-AI is very cool, especially as creatives themselves i think it's good that they're speaking up against it and i hope it gets more ppl talking about the issue. i also understand on a surface level the artistic choice (whether it was made by the members, the mv director, or whoever else), to directly use AI in contrast to real, human-made visuals and music in order to criticize it. i also appreciate that they clearly stated the intention of the use of AI at the beginning of the video
however, although i understand it to an extent, i do not agree with the choice to use AI to critique AI. one of the main ethical concerns with generative AI is that it is trained on other artists' work without their knowledge, consent, or compensation. and even when AI generated images are being used to critique AI, it still does not negate this particular ethical concern
the use of AI to critique also does not negate the fact that this is work that could have been done by an actual artist. i have seen some people argue that it's okay in this context because it's a critique specifically about AI, and it is content that never would have been done by a real artist anyway because it doesn't make sense for the story they're trying to tell. but i disagree. i think you can still tell the exact same story without using AI
and in fact, i would argue that it would make the anti-AI message stronger if they HAD paid an artist to draw/animate the scenes that are supposed to represent AI generated images. wouldn't it just be proof that humans can create images that are just as bad and nonsensical and soulless as AI, but that AI can't replicate the creativity and beauty and basic fucking anatomy that's in human-made art?
it feels very obvious this was not just a way to cut corners and costs like a lot of scummy people are using AI for. ultimately it was a very intentional creative decision, i just personally think it was a very poor one. and even if some ethical considerations were taken into account before this decision, i certainly don't think all of them were. at the very least i feel like the decision undermines the message they want to convey
i would also like to recognize that i myself am not an artist, and i have seen some artists that are totally on board with the use of AI in this specific context, so clearly this is not a topic that is cut and dry. but generative AI is still new, and i think it's important to keep having these conversations
#melia.txt#also want to add that as musicians svt are more directly threatened by AI generated audio than they are by AI generated images#and yet AI generated images is what was used in the video#and i guess the MV director/production company are the ones directly responsible for putting that in there#whether it was their initial idea or not#and they work in a visual medium so perhaps that makes it more 'fair' but idk it just feels like#the commentary is around music. which makes sense. and using human produced music/sound#but then taking advantage of AI images#idk just feels weird#i mean i don't like it either way#like i said in the main post i understand the intention behind the creative decision#and i'm still happy svt are speaking against ai at all i do think overall they're doing a good thing here#i just don't agree with the creative decision they/the production company/whoever made#edit: deleted the part about not boycotting svt over this bc ppl were commenting about boycotting bc of the 🛴 stuff#i meant specifically /I/ am not calling for a boycott because of specifically the ai stuff#was just trying to make a general point that im not making this post bc i want to sabatoge svt or whatever#bc kpop fans love to pull that catd whenever u criticize anything#so yeah just removed that bit bc i dont want ppl getting confused what im talking about#respect ppl boycotting because of scooter/israel stuff but thats not what this post was intended to be about#edit 2: turning off reblogs bc im going to bed and having asomewhat controversial post up is not gonna help me sleep well lol#may or my not turn rb's back on in the morning

Zionist.
saying don't fall for scams does not make someone a zionist. tumblr asks are NOT actual calls for aid!
i was just going to delete this ask like i do all scam asks, but i figured id post it just in case other people are getting similar things for... not being gullible? for trying to stop other people from being scammed and sending their money to scammers instead of actual palestinians?
many people in palestine obviously need aid. an obvious bot sending thousands of messages to thousands of people asking for "aid" will not help those people. they aren't from actual victims. they're from random people who are weaponizing the kindness of strangers to make a buck. falling for it helps absolutely no one. critical thinking is even MORE important in a time like this, stop falling for this obvious shit! they're just like the ai porn bots. they're used by the same exact people for the same exact reasons, getting money off those who are gullible. they're scumbags who are weaponizing peoples empathy to make a buck off a genocide. stop. falling. for. it.
they're trying to take advantage of you. they're assuming you're too stupid to think critically about who you think you're helping. stop proving them right.
there are thousands of actual ways to donate to those in need that aren't tumblr ask scams!

getting really fucking tired of people who don't know how generative AI works comparing AI "training" to how people learn as an artist because they're jus not even remotely the same thing on any level
artists take inspiration and learn by seeing something, going "I want to do something like that", and practicing that specific thing until they're satisfied with it, while AI are "trained" by force-feeding them five billion images (including literal child pornography, it turns out) to build a statistical model of what certain things "look like"
there's no intentionality to AI - even if you're feeding stable diffusion source pics to tune it, it was already pre-trained on the laion data set - at most you're amplifying noise
just get the concept of people's problem with AI being copyright out of your head, the problem is that it's an inauditable black box that's designed from the ground up to destroy the concept of intentionality in art in order to generate infinite """content""" sludge for capitalists

WACKY, WACKY YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME, I NEED TO KNOW BETRAYAL WITH ROYALTY BLUE NOW, GIVE ME THE TEA PLEASE
HEHEHEHHEEEEE in response to this :0000
so. it wouldn't be on purpose. But royalty Blue would be extremely fucking easy to manipulate. An openly emotional person who has their heart on their sleeve and is literally always emotionally vulnerable. That paired with the fact that they often forget that they can use their magic for shortcuts makes them someone you would have to keep an eye on.
Like. someone could point a gun at someone they love and be like 'come let me use you for your magic or else I'll shoot' and they- not realizing they could use their magic to like. get rid of the gun- would absolutely comply. One story I'm thinking about using is they end up working for Negaduck (the evil rival king of St. Canard) because he convinces them that he is going to win the war and so it'll be easier and less gruesome if they use their magic to turn everyone on their side in. even though like. Negaduck can't win because nobody can beat Blue. Blue forgets that and does what he says to save them, not realizing that their compliance here is what makes Negaduck win.
anyway. I think Blue could easily get stuck in doing things 'this is for your own good' style not realizing that they literally can just do whatever they want and aren't bound by any rules. they would be scarily easy to manipulate into forgetting that they can do whatever they want.

"ai generated content have a lot of advantages! You're just scared of progress!"
Downside of ai generated imagery:
Abundance of misinformation
It is now increasingly easy to create fake proofs against someone
Lack of regulation. You can generate pornography out of anyone's image without their consent.
Photo realistic child pornography
Frauds on all sides are selling Ai image as their own creation
Human creativity is increasingly devalued
Bright side of ai generated imagery
It's a fun toy to create pretty pictures and funny memes

Ai Di gives in because he's loved Chen Yi for so long and he doesn't know what else to do. He tried resisting but Chen Yi wouldn't let go. So he goes for it. But you can see the pain, the sadness and the longing for real love as he looks at Chen Yi and cries in front of him knowing that this is going to cause problems between them.
Oh my lovely Ai Di. You deserve all the happiness in this world.

but i do get two npcs fighting with me in the fade i guess. they're usually inconsequential when i have a whole party, but they might be getting me through this

it's tragic that I've got a browser extension that blocks AI art fairly effectively but if i ever released it I'd probably get a cease and desist from the people that run the api I'm using.
