At rest, your lungs wish to deflate, and your ribcage expands outwards.
#better drawn mdzs#mdzs#wei wuxian#yiling laozu#Happy Friday the 13th!#This is scientific fact btw!#Ventilation operates through a series of active and passive forces#The active forces being muscular contraction with inhalation and exhalation having their own set of muscles.#but the interesting part is the passive forces at work:#The lungs have a certain level of elasticity to them - meaning the more they expand the more the those elastic forces are functioning-#-to try and return the system to rest (exhalation passive forces). Your diaphragm is the main force - pushing against the lungs at rest.#Your ribcage on the other hand is under a state of being pulled outwards. It *wants* to be as open as possible.#These to contradicting forces create a constant push and pull which assists in the ebb and flow of air. Most significantly with exhalation.#Now that being said - the primary action of inhalation ventilation is through control centers in your brainstem.#If you lose connection to that due to trauma you're going to need ventilation assistance.#Small note: Respiration is the cellular event of chemical exchange in the alveoli. Ventilation is airflow and pressure.#They are both important but also very different things. Sadly used interchangeably.#My anatomy nerd brain is screaming over the inaccurate ribcage...but its...recognizable. I will get it right one day.#Okay nerd rant over (I cut out a lot of stuff about pressure gradients. They are cool. To me.)#This is a redraw of an mspaint doodle I made back in april. I yearn to make the Yiling Laozu eerie as he deserves#Tear that bitch (affectionate) apart!#Been playing around with hatching for a while and its amazing how many styles there are! Not sure I'll stick with this one (but it was fun)

There's something about the phrasing of "must die," how that's specifically haunting for Jim to hear, both because of his ideals and his past on Tarsus IV as one of the last survivors of Kodos' massacre. But to have Spock's life endangered twice after the "you must let the woman you love die or the future, millions of others' lives, and your own life will be lost" episode? And to have Jim himself ask, "Why must he die?" after the episode where Spock was ready to be killed if a cure wasn't found for the parasitic creatures inducing madness in their hosts, and in that same episode Jim--unprompted--tells Spock, "I need you" and never once suggests getting a replacement First Officer? God. I need to lie down.

A US Consolidated B24 Liberator makes an emergency landing in a field near Eindhoven after being hit by flak during Operation Market Garden - Sept 1944. Only gunner Frank DiPalma survived. He was rescued from the wreckage by Franciscan monks who hid him in the village of Huize Assisi until its liberation by the British

Looked up the real LAFD's Air Operations (no, I did totally not fall down a research rabbit hole on firefighting) and it's so funny because Tommy is reciting almost word by word what's written on their website when he's giving Buck the tour in 7x04.

ooh I see, in Pyramids of Mars pt2 the Doctor takes Sarah Jane to look at 1980 if they don't stop what happens in 1911, and it's an apocalyptic wasteland, so when you're watching the Beatles episode in 2024 you're supposed to go like "hey just like in Pyramids of Mars!" and then you're thinking about the exact right episode.
You know, if you already had watched all of Doctor Who before this year instead of say, hitting the current plot twist related episode today. :P

You are not, nor have you ever been, a "fan" of the tv show Supernatural if you don't respect what the supporting cast brought to it and if you demonstrate your low media literacy as you keep smoking your bonkers off the wall detached from canon lack of comprehension of Castiel's arc, hate Cas, hate Misha, and erase the show's actual themes and actual story while you ride the j2 hat brosonly projection train guzzling your own home brew of fake erudition and actually believe you're a superior fan. You are not. A fan. And have no rights to claim to be a fan. You think everything after Kripke is trash, you are not. A. Fan.

So I think this is NEVER going to happen, but let’s imagine, shall we.
WHAT IF. The introduction of Tommy and the development of his relationship built into a spinoff of air operations? Like in something akin to Greys/Station 19, we still got characters on both shows, still got bucktommy, but then you had 911: air operations telling those stories.
I just. Idk how much different they could make it. But I’d be down to watch it. Give me drama in the helicopter. Give me repelling down the side of a cliff for a wild ass save. Give us the damn helicopter crashes.
Just. Give us all of it.

tim rejecting kon as robin because he believes kon already rejected tim and so would be disappointed once he finds out....this is the worst ending yet...i love it....
(this scenario) listen, tim is so smart and strategic and logical and also (especially post-breakup/misunderstanding) would plan for every single outcome except the one where he is actually wanted

Cpt. Basil of the guild's rescuers division. A former sailor and storm warder, Basil has a very strong power output she uses to choke out nasty storms before they can threaten Lapizuli. Despite her heft, she is possibly the fastest and sturdiest flier in the guild, if not all of the Lapizuli region, making her ideal for scouting potential disasters. Only another Dragonite could match her speed.
Having been raised by and on the sea, she's very knowledgeable on all the old songs and legends of the gods of the deep. She fears and respects gods of the sea in equal measures, and leans to superstition as much as experience on the open ocean.
