Chapter Summary:
“Kidnapping is hardly the way to court a lady—”
“Ah,” Halbrand said with a sigh, “but when you have a reputation like mine—” He leaned in close to her hair as they danced, whispering the next words into her ear, “—it tends to scare all the pretty Elf maidens away.” He pulled back from her to look her in the eyes, and Galadriel could not stop herself from meeting them.
“Why not a human woman?” Galadriel demanded. “They would be easier to sway, I assume?”
“Easier and better are not equals,” Halbrand admonished her. His feet came to an easy pause during the music, and the hand that held her waist slipped around her back to hold her more fully with his entire arm as he dipped her low. He took the moment to speak the next words directly to her as he stared down at her face. “Besides,” he added, saying it as if it was almost an afterthought, though it was not, and he raised his eyebrows at her at the same time. “They are not immortal like you and me.”

The Brotherhood of Steel don't commit Genocide
Their goal is to protect humanity - not including Ghouls - from Dangerous Technology (Laser weapons, FEV, Replication tech) and try to destroy the fruits of that danger.
But they're not the Enclave. They're not out here trying to make a Human Ethnostate.
As a rule, they've given it a go once or twice but, typically, they're not genocidal. Does the Brotherhood of Steel dislike Ghouls and Super Mutants? Absolutely. Did the West Coast chapter care that the NCR allowed both to be citizens? No, they didn't. Because they weren't a danger to Humanity as individuals.
Why haven't they wiped out Goodneighbor in Fallout 4? Or hell, why doesn't MacCready (who isn't the BOS biggest fan) bring up Underworld or any Brotherhood activity there? No, he doesn't - so its safe to assume that they weren't wiped out.
In Fallout 4, the fight is against Synths the same way it was about Super Mutants in Fallout og - the Synth is just the dangerous byproduct of the Brotherhood's actual target, the Insitute. Just like how the Brotherhood wasn't out to kill all Super Mutants, but the Super Mutants who served the master and threatened Mankind.
From Maxson's perspective (wrong as it may be), he thinks that Synths represent a danger to mankind for two reasons:
They have the ability to near perfectly infiltrate any organization with sleeper cells that can be activated at a moment
Synths might one day decide that they don't need Humans anymore, and instead of trying to run away from the Insitute they'll take over and mass produce
Both of these are nightmare scenarios for the Brotherhood. But the second the Institute is gone, so are both of those points. There will be no more infiltrating (except for DiMa's shenanigans) and the ability to make new Synths has exploded. And, actually, so too did the way to make new Super Mutants so once the current batch is gone there won't be anymore.
Arthur Maxson's work here is done. Now he'll just set up a new local chapter (he has the ego to just unilaterally make one, or he could have made contact with the West Coast and got permission) in Boston. The Brotherhood doesn't want to be the local government, so they'll let the Minutemen do that but they'd mostly just be here to vibe.
Shit, they can't even do anything about the Synths. Not even a deep brain scan will reveal if there is a Synth component, and its impractical to do mass-brain surgery. The Brotherhood pretty much has to wipe their hands and go "we did good gang"
So sorry Thaddeus, no we will not be "killing all the ghouls" because, to be completely honest, there are more important uses of the Brotherhood's time and micro-fusion cells.

god remember in 2019 when the new homestuck writing staff were all like deranged twitter users and when anyone complained about the comic being weirdly politically charged now the response over and over was "homestuck was always political" imagine saying that to hussies face in 2009

It is kind of funny to think about how popular the Kuja Crocodile fan theory is when you take a step back and think about where that theory kinda originates from Now to be fair, I'm not 100% certain where the theory came from, I can only remember so much of what the fandom was theorizing back in 2008, so I may be speaking from my ass a little right now
But from what I do remember, back in Yee Olden Days, there was a lot of speculation about why the Strawhats got sent to their respective island by Kuma the way they did. A lot of people did notice how each island seemed meaningful one way or another to each Strawhat and tied into their characters except for Luffy, and everybody thought that was a bit odd. Mainly because we didn't fully know HOW Kuma's ability worked. Now, nearly two decades later, we DO know how Kuma's ability actually works; People don't magically travel to islands they have a secret connection to or anything, Kuma himself has to actively choose where he sends people off to, meaning Kuma looked at the Strawhats individually and picked out islands where he thought they'd be best off at. Luffy being sent to Amazon Lily is arguably no different; Kuma knew Luffy was the brother of the soon-to-be-executed Ace, but also a target of the WG (due to being Dragon's son). Amazon Lily was close enough to both Sabaody that Luffy would be able to return there relatively easily if he wished to, or he could try to befriend the Warlord Hancock, who was also being summoned to participate in Ace's execution, to hitch a ride from her to go and try to save his brother. The only challenge Luffy would have to overcome there was indeed befriending the Kuja, at least enough to be taken off from the island safely and alive.
But indeed, we only really know and can fully understand that now. Back in Yee Olden Days, the fans did just seem to think Kuma's ability might be a bit more mystical in nature, and thus people got really curious what Luffy's Secret Ties to the Kuja and Amazon Lily could possibly be. And naturally that lead to people speculating that maybe Luffy's mom was a Kuja. Because what other subconcious connection could Luffy possibly have to the island especially when it didn't seem like it would help him reach/achieve his dreams any faster either.
But then we get to Impel Down and Crocodile gets those transgenderism allegations thrown right in his handsome face (and people start shitposting about him being Luffy's other parent) And I think that might be where the streams crossed. People noted how Crocodile has his funny little reptile motif going on, and how the Kuja ""also have a reptile motif"", transgenderism allegations, badabing badaboom Crocodile could be a former Kuja, secret past SOLVED.
But the connection there is really weak though, isn't it? Especially when you considder that the Kuja don't really have a REPTILE theme going on with them. Yes, the snake motif is important to the Kuja, our beloved Hancock being The Snake Princess and the sisters having the Gorgon/Medusa (fake) backstory, but the animal motif is limited to just snakes, not reptiles as a whole (otherwise we could also speculate that Moria is a former Kuja because he's also named after a reptile). And more importantly, the Kuja have a big FLOWER theme going on for them, namely in, well, their names; each Kuja is named after some kind of flower/plant. Sure, Crocodile could have a secret deadname but we don't know if he does, there is no evidence to suggest either way (but also, depending on when you think he would have transitioned then him just being able to have a secret deadname is kind of up in the air (see: Crocodad timeline))
So if Kuma's ability doesn't have a magical way to send people to places they have ties to (whether the person knows it or not), and if Crocodile doesn't have any obvious, thematic connection to the Kuja, then the only reason people believe he could've been a Kuja is because... he might be trans. And... yeah. That's kind of a weak basis for a theory, isn't it
#Moon posting#OP Meta#Not even commenting on the Missing Empress because that's been Officially Debunked and doesn't matter anymore#For the record I'm not here to shit on peole who DO like the Kuja Croc theory or just enjoy it as a pure headcanon#That is absolutely fine and wonderful#As always: I'm very interested in speculating about canon and what seems like a viable theory with evidence to back it vs what doesn't#And that's what this post is about. The Kuja Croc is an Ancient Fan Theory but it really kinda is the weakest one at this point#For comparison's sake I feel like there's more evidence for the ''Crocodile is Stussy's son and Weevil's brother'' theory than Kuja Croc#Tho to be fair Croc's reintroduction to the plot did come in the arc immidiately after Amazon Lily was introduced#So like the dots could be easy to connect there (much like Ivankov's intro literally immidiately before Croc's re-intro)#And one could argue it'd be nice if the Isle of Women had more of ''a reason to exist'' in a plot relevant way#(Like that is kind of why I argue FOR trans Croc- it'd be give Ivankov's ability A Reason to Exist within the narrative)#((Not that it NEEDS one))#But also I'd argue the ''reason'' Amazon Lily is an isle of women was for the adventure Luffy ended up having on there+the friends he made#Like had the island NOT been the way it was then Luffy's experience there wouldn't have been the same nor the bonds he formed with Hancock#It would have made for a very different story there. And I think that alone is the ''justification'' for Amazon Lily being the way it is

I will never not be salty that BBC Atlantis didn't take off and get to have more seasons to continue to tell its story.
Glad it was able to get even 2 seasons but damn I wanted more. I wish it had gone off and gotten the Merlin treatment.
It's fun and interesting, I love the way it take Greek myths and twists them in new ways, uses Greek characters. Hell just the whole idea of it starting with modern day but Jason, protagonist actually being from this other world? Distant past? whatever of Atlantis and some how having been sent to our world/time by his dad to keep him safe.
And just the wild choice of having Pythagores of all people and Hercules (is he the actual Hercules? Meant to be a child of the Demigod? *shrug* no idea) being Jason's two friends / our secondary protags.
Medusa becoming cursed not by the gods exactly but from something with having opened and looked in Pandora's box (also that we get to meet and know her precurse instead of just starting off with her already a gorgon/all snake hair
Just been rewatching it and ughh god I miss it so much- also trying to track down the DVDs (that aren't UK / non region 2 or 4) is a pain for some reason s2 harder then s1.

Been looking up Yasuko Kobayashi's head writer credits, just to see how soon a head writer could return for another installment in a toku franchise, and I noticed/realized that she did ToQger one year after doing Go-Busters (with Kyoryuger bridging the gap in between). Maybe that kind of feat is no longer possible in today's day and age, but...any chance Yuya Takahashi can do Gavv? ^^; xD Even though for some reason the name Gavv made me think of the aforementioned Kobayashi and Toshiki Inoue

I'm willing to bet none of you work for non profits. I'm just contracted with one and even I know. Moving money properly pretty much never takes less than three fucking months. It takes planning, it takes contracts, it takes considering taxes that will be removed from it, and weeks to implement. It requires meetings, it requires votes, and a bunch of things even I don't know and neither do the rest of you. Having an emergency fund to be able to react immediately is great when the thing you're reacting to is a natural disaster with pre-established organizations you can trust to use that money. This isn't that.
If you're acting smug that maybe you said something to the CR cast on Friday and then now "suddenly" they're donating and you think that was your doing, you're wrong and you look silly. 3-6 months is the usual timeline to move shit. They've been working out logistics, they've DEFINITELY been making sure that the place they put that money will REACH its intended recipients (remember when aid couldn't get in?) and fucks sakes guys. We deal with bad faith assholes from the outside all the time. Doesn't need to come from the inside too.

When the LA-based interior design influencer who is constantly purchasing $$$$ furniture and reselling it bc she was in the mood for something else informs her viewers that unfortunately, you CANNOT create a worthwhile space with cheap new furniture and you MUST wait until you find the perfect vintage piece secondhand and there is NO valid excuse for not doing so. -_- k.

I have friends and family who are vegan and it wouldn't be a big deal but as the op of that post said, there are people who genuinely get mad that ecology exists as it does and do shame ppl for hunting and/or eating meat for cultural/religious/health reasons and I know because I've seen it...and I also think it's worth keeping in mind that there are people who would rather buy grains from thousands of miles away no matter how bad the conditions are for the people harvesting it than locally grown, sustainable meat because they care more about animals than about people of the global south. like! some of it is education/anthropomorphification but I genuinely do think there's racist elements of a lot of white vegan's thought processes that need to be dealt with

Call me Halbrand
Halbrand. The name is plain, and so is his mortal form, but he decides to keep them both as he returns to the Southlands. His days of aimless wandering are over, and it is time for him to finish what he started when he served under his former Master. He will bring order to Arda, and thanks to the Elf, he now knows where to start. He may have lost Galadriel’s trust, but the Men of the Southlands welcome their king with open arms.
*
Despite the protests of his new subjects, he spends as much time as he can in the smithy. Though mending tools and sharpening weapons is hardly a suitable task for a king, he needs the distraction to keep his sanity intact.
He cannot afford to reveal his identity yet, and ruling over humans without the using his powers is near torture. His yearn for order and perfection is a part of his very being, etched into his core by Ilúvatar himself. Men need a firm hand to guide them, because if left to their own devices, they choose whims and desires over common sense. Since Halbrand cannot be that hand yet, he hides away in the smithy, distracting himself with things that can be broken, remade, and brought to perfection with the steady beat of a hammer.
*
In Mordor, under the heavy clouds created by the eruption of Orodruin, the Orcs prosper under the leadership of the traitorous Adar. Halbrand protects his people from the Orcs’ occasional attempts at expanding their territory, but he does nothing to prevent their steadily growing numbers. He’s going to need that army one day. When the time is right, he will deal with the traitor, and the Orcs will rally to his side once more.
*
He knows that Galadriel will come for him. When he ripped her mind open, he saw the raging darkness within her; a merciless, insatiable tempest, stronger and more destructive than he could ever have imagined. She will come for him, and her desperate need to see him dead will be her undoing. Her wisdom is clouded by pride and arrogance, and despite her formidable age, she is still naïve. Once she realizes that she alone cannot defeat a being like him, she will reach out for the power he once offered her, believing herself strong enough to resist him. The fall of Galadriel will be a sight to behold. Patience has never been one of his virtues, but for this, he is willing to wait.
He does not need a queen to accomplish his goals, but the vision of the Elf standing by his side still haunts him. Sharing his power was never a part of his plan, yet he still convinced the Elven smith to create two rings instead of one. He figures that this might be the price a being like him has to pay for choosing to take the form of a low Man. There is a longing inside him that he does not recognize, something irrational and unexplainable that burns almost as hot as his yearn for order and control. He does not need Galadriel, but he wants her.
She will come for him, and when she does, he will be waiting.
*
Halbrand’s days of aimless wandering are over. His plan has been set in motion. He will rid Arda of chaos and disorder, and he will rule Middle-earth with a queen by his side; a Dark Lord and his Lady of Light.

i moved to a new place 3 months ago and the best internet here is so bad (17mbps....without vpn enabled) that i can't reliably play MMOs, at least not ones like toontown servers since they fully kick you off the game the literal millisecond your connection gets funky in any way. i can actually play most roblox games as long as i'm ok with a lot of textures never loading and me rubberbanding a lot, but toontown is so triggerhappy about kicking you off that i just can't play it without fear of being reported for "maliciously alt+f4ing" or something. or worse, DCing with pace at 100 health. so i haven't fucking played clash in these 3 months. i gave it as long as i could to see if i could adjust to this shit ass internet but i have been so upset that i can't play clash that i'm about to get fucking starlink. like. clash is honest to god my #1 motivation for it. i want elon musk to sudoku as much as anyone else on this website but by god would starlink save my life. a couple of my neighbors have it and they get 100mbps. omfg. i can't even fathom what 50mbps would be like, much less 100. i had 200mbps at my childhood home that i just moved out of. life could be a dream. anyways so basically i'm spending almost my entire next paycheck on starlink because i want to play clash again without getting banned for constantly disconnecting

Just in case some people don't know, Amazon Prime's shows usually release at 12 am GMT. I'm not 100% sure it will be the same for Daisy Jones, but I did read one article that said it would. Since I'm in Central, the show would debut March 2nd at 6 pm for me. I don't want anyone to miss the chance to see it as soon as possible.
