I'm 4 out of 5 books through MDZS, and I like it so much that in the books, Wei Wuxian at least somewhat lives up to his fame as terrible Yiling Laozu! He's still righteous and a genius, and the reasons of him being rejected by a 'polite' society are the same, but he gets to go full berserk and retaliate once in a while, and that's beautiful.

In the drama, every time he looked like he was about to snap and kill everyone and their fucking grandma, he mostly just... shed a lonely tear and, sometimes, died? (He wasn't as bad, though, as poor Ballister Blackheart in cartoon Nimona (iirc he wasn't even Blackheart anymore, but some other, nobler 'heart'?), that guy didn't get to violently retaliate or relish an evil plan ONCE, my heart was breaking for him.)

Many things in the drama make more sense for me now, too! Like, now I understand why Wen Ning is giving WWX rides in a cart or carries bags of groceries for him - that's because he's a fierce corpse of enormous strength! I didn't get it the first time around. Or how WWX did, in fact, get to become a celebrity and his inventions gained popularity even among common folks! And how many of WWX's problems stem from him being of a birth not high enough. Xue Yang was right, head clans DO get to kill whoever they want and nobody says a word! (I actually got a post coming on who's a better working class hero - XY or WWX? It probably won't be a long post.) The part of JC practically turning Lotus Pier into a torture chamber because he was feeling some kind of way was chilling.

Anyway, Wei Wuxian. I'm happy you got to go berserk and actually kill some of those people you were accused of killing. And Wen Ning, you too. (I also loved how WWX made friends with some ghosts/undead, that was so touching <3)
