english lit gcse tips!!
for poetry anthology use genius lyrics!! then remember 2/3 quotes and analysis from each poem
(also for poetry harder poems like tissue wont be used as its an open tier paper)
physics and maths tutor is your new best friend!! theres so much info which can be super overwhelming but theres loads of things on there that your teachers haven't thought of
i created paragraph plans (8-10 per book) using physics and maths tutor which, when in an exam, you just pick out the paragraphs that fit the question. remember its super easy to link things to eachother!!! if a question is on macbeths ambition you can link it to other (possibly more revised) themes like witchcraft etc

Eng lit paper 1!!
Gcses rambles
WHAT??? AQA WHAT??????
Bro what are these questionss??? "Lady macbeth as a strong female character?"????? "Pressent lessons of life?"??????? What?!
So im a grade 7 student in lit so close to a grade 8 and when i entered i just got so stuck for the first 15 mins i just sat staring at the macbeth and christmas carol questions and lost and i felt like crying because i want a grade 8, but then i decided i should just start with the seemingly easier of the two.
So i wrote a nonesense thesis and first paragraph for acc with the "hard and sharp as flint" quote about how he has potential for grown, but then ig i finally got ideas. Talked about how dickens uses financial language, the cratchit family and the imagery of light.
Then i went onto the dreaded macbeth question with like 40 mins left, and then left the thesis blank cuz i didnt know what to do and i completely just wrote ninsense on acc and i started writing abiut the use of command words and questions to at least get something down, but then i thought of manVSwoman power and the links to yhe witches and got by, then wrote and rewrote the thesis for both questions
In the end it wasnt too bad, but i was so scared there
I really hope paper 2 is nice DD::
I litterally sat there in the first 15 mins thinking "im gonna change my eng lit a level and pick something else" cuz i was so stumped :((((
This was the first exam i was properly nervous for cuz english is the only subject im above average for and i didnt want to flunk it and i may have flunked it
Edit: I just remembered that last year's question was "how does shakespeare present Macbeth as a male character" and then this year is Lady Macbeth as a strong female character
Very original aqa =_=

im gonna rank my exams so far now im halfway through for fun
1. English lit 1 (aqa) this is basically for the jekyll and hyde question alone it was absolutely beautiful. R+J question was pretty good as well.
2.English lit 2 another amazing english exam from aqa. I loved the unseen poetry question and the fact we were given 2 theme questions for an inspector calls. Before you were mine was pretty decent as well cause i can compare it to walking away the best poem
3. Combined Physics 1 (aqa trilogy higher) I did no revision at all for the paper and it was still piss easy. Best science paper by far.
4.Drama (edexcel) I found section A to be chill. Nice extract from an inspector calls. The 9 marker in section B was so strange but i figured out a solid answer
5. Maths 1 (edexcel higher) So much easier than most non calculator maths papers im used to. I know I fucked a few questions up but considerably less than i normally do. Also the fire alarm went off during this exam so we had like a weird 13 minute break standing outside. Strange.
6. French reading (aqa higher) This one was nice and pretty much exactly what i was expecting. Maybe its not my highest scoring paper but it was one of the least stressful ones which is why its this high up. Loved the translation at the end as well.
7. Geography 1 (aqa) It went pretty good except for the fact i didnt finish one of the 6 markers. I never finish geography papers though. Also the figure they provided for the question about flood management was awful and the 12 marker about plate boundaries was weird.
8. Combined Chemistry 1 nothing much to say tbh. Went decently but not really well. I dont really have any strong opinions on it.
9. Computer science 1 (OCR) surprisingly chill. No system architecture came up which was weird but nice. I think i did slightly better than i normally do on this paper.
10. Combined biology 1 This is supposed to be my best science but it was just a bit mid tbh. Definitely did not go awfully though just in comparison to my other exams its lacking a bit.
11. French listening I was expecting it to be shit and it was. The dog was the highlight of the paper, it can open doors!!
12. Computer science 2 never again.
Only 11 left omg im so fucking tired. Theyve mostly gone really well though so thats nice.

Ranting about my GCSES for the billionth time on my blog
I finished my GCSES, I'm so happy they are done but I'm absolutely terrified for results day. i find it difficult to judge whether I did good or bad in an exam as my brain loves to be a little delulu and trick me , so i really don't know how to feel.
I'm sure i'll def get a 9 for art becoz I got marked 190/192 for the entire thing which I am so fucking happy about, but I'm scared for the other subjects.
I previously set a goal that I had to get seven 9s out of 10 GCSES, but now I'm really beginning to doubt myself
I got 9s for five subjects in my mocks and I'm scared that I might even do worse than my mocks as I am currently feeling less confident about my real exams than my mocks, which I'm quite sad about
Generally, I tend to get 9s in sciences but I barely scrape the grade boundary every time. I am scared for physics- (especially) as I think I messed up on paper 1. (I do IGCSE edexel) I will also have to pray that the bio mark scheme will not nonsensical bs this year
But what I'm truly terrified about is maths (edexcel IGCSE) and geography (AQA). I fucked up maths paper 1 and I only got 1 end question completely right, I think I got half marks for two others. Not only that, I rushed through the early questions, which is bad as I make careless mistakes very easily. Paper 2 was better, but only slightly. I got an 8 in my mocks which was bad as I desperately, desperately need a 9 to solidify my decisions as I will be doing maths for A level, and getting an 8 would shatter my dreams
Geography paper 1 was easy, but it was a mess at the same time. I write slow so I only had 5 minutes left to complete the whole of glaciation. I think I only got like four marks out of the whole section. Paper 2 was the best paper imo, I hope I got most right. Paper 3 was eh, I also didn't really finish, ( I needed to write 3 more sentences in the last question and I didn't fully finish a 6 marker). I will just have to pray to the geography gods that this won't bring my marks down. The thing is, the exams weren't even hard, I was just so fucking slow- (I'm really pissed)
English was also eh for both lang and lit for me. I have never been good at english since it's kind of my second language, (it's my first language now, but it wasn't four years ago, I'm chinese). I was only aiming for a 7, which is reasonable to my standards, but I'm scared that I won't. I do merchant of venice and sign of four, which are both such irrelevant books, and we got quite shit questions. I found this kinda unfair as the popular ones like Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Christmas carol, mr jekyll and mr hyde were really easy according to most people. Our questions, unfortunately were really eh. This would raise grade boundaries :(. I have always been bad at poetry, I nearly shed a tear when I saw my last duchess in the exam as I barely revised for it. My teacher never properly taught us this poem as well (it was the least annotated one in my anthology) so I barely had any context. I also played it safe and compared it with Ozymandias. My slow-writing ass also ran out of time to do the dumb 8 marker in the end, which wouldn't help at all. Unseen was also meh, I only got to write 1 page and a bit more. The only essays that truly went well is An Inspector Calls, and maybe Merchant of Venice
Lang wasn't any better, everything I wrote was just so average and general. None of my question 5s were also outstandingly good, which is unfortunate. As a whole, I was lacking in AO2 for all four papers which will also pull my mark down.
French was a mess. I did quite reasonable in all papers, except... the listening paper. I did so so terrible in the listening paper, and I am scared that I failed it- which will make me fail the entire french gcse. I do not want to see a U on my results.
DT has always been my strong subject, but unfortunately, paper 3 went so bad (I do CIE). I am going to pray that paper 1 and my coursework ( which I am quite sure I did well in) will carry as I did absolute dogshit in paper 3. I need to get a 9 in DT, it is a must.
Thats it ig
