What is something unfair in the art community?

Here is mine for starters, expensive prices for only a drawing. I think it's a little unfair that you have to make someone pay in order to draw something for them.

That’s a good question.

The most unfair thing I think that exist in the art community is people feeling scared to express themselves in fear of getting backlash.

I’ve seen stories of young artists entering the Internet nowadays. They’re just drawing what they want and having fun. Next thing you know, they’re leaving because they drew something “wrong” (like drawing plus sized interpretations of characters or making a “unattractive” Pinkie Pie gjinka for example)

I have admittedly gotten similar hate for drawing Chiaki / Kaede plus sized and personally I LOVE drawing them that way. I am built like that and making them “like me” makes me happy.

I want people to have more fun and the ones that don’t like seeing what they put out to just block and move on. Like, more people should utilize the block button.

It could be something as major as a creative being problematic to as minor as seeing an interpretation of your fave that you just don’t like. Use the fucking block button. That’s why it’s there.

I guess this issue is sort of more of a social media in general thing but that’s how I feel.

Now, as for your statement about commissions Anon.

My commissions are as low as they are because it doesn’t take me long to do them (if no changes have to be made and communication between me and the client is streamlined).

Other people offer higher rates for a MULTITUDE of different factors. Commissions could be their only form of income, their process takes a long time to complete (I know artists that take a long time bc of the CRAZY detail they put on their pieces), emergency situations, a mixture of things.

And at the end of the day, I (and many others) believe that this kind art is a luxury. You don’t NEED art, you WANT it for one reason or another. The question remains on if you want to spend the money or not.

Anyway that’s just my two cents on everything.

new autistic guy from my uni apparently is just weeks away from turning30 ???? i know that i'm very bad at guessing ppl's ages but i genuinely thought that he's only 2 3 years older??

from what i gathered he lives in his parents' basement and mostly plays vidya. he frequently goes on long and emotional rants about the mistreatment he received from his phoney friends (i. a. they didn't want to sell him weed) but all those things must have happened at least 10 years ago. also he a few times he started literally screaming at the top of his lungs very mentally ill things, in class. i guess one has to be really suffering to break social norms like that however he only behaves like that with one professor. still it's so weird. i often feel like i'm approaching my breaking point but i can't imagine complaining about my life to a professor, with othet ppl right next to me?? and he talks very (too) openly about loneliness, disappointment in his life, about meds not working. that he hasn't been invited to a new eve's party in years. bro, me too?

anyway. not to be insensitive but i do enjoy meeting other ppl who are struggling. sometimes i compare myself too much to my boybossy and girbossy cousins and forget that not everyone is like them. it's really encouraging to be reminded that there are others who are suffering just like me. there are many paths in life and some of us are on a narrow and steep path so we have to crawl on all fours while crying our eyes out to go forward
