Kinda ass that you basically just can’t pay for things with cash anymore. And I’m not even just talking about shops and restaurants that don’t take cash. Back in the day you could fully just roll up and pay your rent or for a hotel room or even bills with cash or at least a plain paper check. Now EVERYTHING has to be attached to your identity and credit score and bank and whatever else. I stayed at a hotel recently and when I checked in the receptionist was like ‘oh hello (name) from (city)!’ because he could see my entire legal name and home address since I had to give all my billing info to book the room. Some random guy! Not only is it a potential security and privacy issue for many reasons but like. What if you’re homeless or underage or escaping abuse and don’t have your own credit card or bank account or ID and all you have is cash you’ve managed to borrow or squirrel away? What if the internet’s down and digital payments don’t work? You just can’t get your lunch? Or a room to sleep in? Why does every random coffee shop I’ve ever been to have my fucking email because they all use Toast? I don’t like this!

A couple years after the incident, the Vees start leaving notes in Vox’s quarters. Initially, they were just short, unimportant things like wishing him a good morning, but once Vox started asking where/who the notes were coming from, Val and Vel realized that as long as they kept the notes anonymous, they could bypass the mental block that causes Vox’s memory of them to reset after every interaction.
Valentino starts writing Vox letters, using his either his first name or one of his middle names (Juan or Sebastian) from his human life as a pseudonym. It’s the most reliable way for him to communicate with Vox since there’s no telling whether he'll perceive him as a complete stranger or as a terrifying moth monster on any given day. It’s difficult to form much of a relationship over letters since Vox’s memory is spotty even without the mental block, but it’s something. Val will take any opportunity to connect with Vox, and Vox will accept anything that makes him feel less alone
Vox doesn’t have the attention span for books, but Val’s letters tend to hold his interest. They’re short enough for him not to get bored and full of amusing stories and wild humor. He rereads them over and over again and will remember to write back most of the time. Val usually returns Vox’s notes along with his response in order to give him more context regarding what they’re talking about, but you can be sure he’s photocopying every letter Vox writes for safekeeping.
Vox is curious who his mystery pen pal is, but there’s not much he can do to investigate. On one of the days when Val comes to visit and Vox perceives him as just a normal stranger, he asks him about the letter writer. Val has no choice but to come up with some weak explanation on the spot and quickly sketch himself as a human when Vox asks what his pen pal looks like. Vox hangs onto that sketch; even if he’s alone most of the time, it’s nice to feel like he has a friend looking out for him.

The Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) is the body of independent experts that monitors implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women. The CEDAW Committee consists of 23 experts on women's rights from around the world.
The CEDAW treaty is a tool that helps women around the world to bring about change in their daily life.
