Do you ever think about how when Renarin stopped wearing glasses in wor, Dalinar assumed he had stopped because he wanted to look like a warrior? Do you ever think about how no one commented on this, so it wasn't unexpected to them? Do you ever think about if Renarin has done this before, not neccessarily with his glasses, but with meds, or other things he needs, just to look strong to the Alethi? Do you ever think about renarin

May Aladar, reporting for duty!
Drawn by @stormscience and coloured by @cosmereplay
[ID copied from alt text: A digital illustration of May Aladar, shown from the waist up, standing in the street in Azimir and looking at the viewer. She has tan skin, light yellow eyes, and short black wavy hair that curls artfully in every which direction. She wears pale yellow and maroon clothing with leather shoulder armour. She's got a bow and quiver of arrows over her shoulder, and she holds a book in her gloved safehand. Her freehand holds a pen, hovering and ready to write. The background contains brightly-coloured buildings with painted patterns. Guards chat outside one building and some women are gathered on the other side of the street. It's bright and sunny outside with a bit of a haze. May looks directly at the viewer, attentive and ready to respond. End ID.]

Mwah ha ha
I certainly hope so
More eloquent people than me have noted and criticized how the social justice angle in Alethi society got really shoved to the side and kinda ignored, especially in Kaladin's story.
It's good to see this
I hope we get to see more of such things *actually* like occurring, people at the bottom pushing the change, not just depending on goodwill from people at the top.

“They called themselves the Alethi, but we knew them as the Tagarut. The breakers, it means. Those who leave only death.”
I expected this to be about the void bringers when Nomad starts his story. It’s actually so refreshing to see non-Alethi Rosharan POVs

Guys help
It’s stated somewhere in the Stormlight Archive that Navani is taller than the average Alethi woman, right? But this article I found states her height as 5’8, and a tumblr post by HavenFable states the average height of an Alethi woman as around 5’7
Along with that, the same article stated that Jasnah was around 6’0, which would be, according to the article, the same height as Renarin
BUT
Everything I’ve seen states that Jasnah is likely taller than Renarin???
I’m just trying to make an accurate OC man :((
Adolin is also stated to be slightly shorter than Dalinar but then also the same height as Dalinar???
Adolin is also generally considered taller than Jasnah, so that means he is also taller than Renarin
Shallan is stated to be 5’6, but that’s in Roshar measurements. Apparently Brandon Sanderson stated Shallan as 6’0 in Earth measurements, but she considers herself short
I’ve seen some people saying that Adolin is 6’7, but then where does that put Kaladin who is considered tall for Alethi??
What’s the height difference between Adolin and Renarin?? Adolin is stated to be slightly taller than Renarin
What’s the average height for Alethi women?
Average height for Alethi males?
Are all the Kholins just tall for Alethi?????
ALSO
What is the Alethi stance on transgender people?? Also just Roshar in general??
FEEL FREE TO SEND ME A DM OR ASK PLEASE HELP

Dalinar Kholin. Big Ol’ WIP of my favorite bondsmith. I’d argue that his character arc and development is on par with Prince Zuko, one of the most well written characters I’ve read.

All I could think of when this dude was on screen is that he is striving to be an Alethi windrunner.

Storming alethi and their safe hand traditions, no recess clapping games?? But what about the lemonade? Or avocado? Or concentration?? Do we just snap our fingers?? Hand clapping games are actually a masculine art.

TAGS ON TUMBLR ARE UNDERTEXT AHH
reading stormlight like “undertext is so creative and ridiculous and funny lmao nobody would write secret additional commentary and then hide it so people who hear the work secondhand rarely get the chance to see it OHHHHHHH”

If I was Lirin, I think I'd be more than a little annoying about the fact that my society and even pervasive religion dictates that the highest calling for men and young boys is to die and kill violently.

I kind of wish different nations in stormlight called the emotion spren by different names. Like anticipationspren could be called eagerspren in azir, and slightly different emotions could be associated with them. There is no way everyone just agreed on what emotion each weird critter that pops into existence meant

I am SO glad the Reshi leader showed up. I'm glad it was awkward. I'm glad the Mink was the one who welcomed him. It all says important things about power and marginalization and kinship and respect and politics and so on that much more thoughtful and wordful people than me could likely ponder on and expand on.
Just wanted to note it, though I can't do justice to an analysis

Woke: Humans are the invaders/conquerors of Roshar
Bespoke: Humans were welcomed to Roshar as refugees, but then displaced the indigenous populations
Broke: technically…the white people are the only non-Colonist/imperialist humans on Roshar
