What a difference 33 years makes juxtaposition of Alfa Romeo S.Z., 1989 & Alfa Romeo Giulia SWB Zagato, 2022. Zagato have revealed a one-off coachbuilt special to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first collaboration between the two companies. The car, built for a German collector, is based on the Alfa Romeo Giulia, with a shortened wheelbase and a 532hp biturbo V6 sourced from the GTAm driving the rear wheels through to a six-speed manual gearbox. It will remain a one-off. The S.Z. (for Sport Zagato) was an earlier collaboration based on the transaxle platform of the Alfa Romeo 75 using that car's 210hp 3.0 litre V6. ❤️🇮🇹 L'aggettivo Gran Turismo da sempre è stato parte della storia Alfa Romeo, Affiancato a nomi gloriosi del biscione a contraddistinguerne le versioni coupé. La Giulia GT, l’Alfetta GT; auto belle da guidare e dotate di quel fascino e quella eleganza che solo un coupè puó avere. Con la GTV 916 i tecnici Alfa hanno dimostrato che soluzione tecniche raffinate potevano rendere molto efficace una trazione anteriore e partendo dalla ormai collaudata base della 156 diedero vita all’Alfa Romeo Gt. Come le sorelle ereditava una tenuta di strada formidabile mentre il disegno estetico era stato affidato alla sapiente matita di #Bertone che è riuscito nel mix di creare una vettura sportiva ma molto elegante soprattutto nella personalissima parte posteriore. Al vertice della gamma c'era l'ormai famoso violino di Arese nella versione di massima cubatura di 3.2 litri orfano di 10 cavalli rispetto alle versioni GTA, senza però intaccare minimamente le doti di potenza ed elasticità che hanno reso questo motore una leggenda. Il brevissimo intervallo di tempo di vendita di questa versione e la conseguente rarità la rendono un'auto di assoluto interesse che oggi come 17 anni fa colpisce per la pulizia delle sue linee e l'inconfondibile note del suo grande cuore sportivo. 🇮🇹❤️

Alfa Romeo Giulia GTC, only available between 1964 and 1966 and launched to make the transition from the ageing Giulia Spider to the, as yet to be ready, Duetto. Only 1000 convertible conversions of the Bertone coupé were made by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan, their last project before the firm folded in 1966 – whereby the interior seems to be more of a homemade joinery job in this case….
