one of the richest most interesting facets of rhaenyra and alicent’s relationship is there are zero universes in which they get to be together while retaining the core of who they are. like even as we speed closer and closer to annihilation and the spectre of former “girlhood” hovers between them…. there is no future which allows them anything more than shared adolescence. they are not equals. aemma lives? otto arranges an advantageous match for alicent. rhaenyra is not named heir? she would still be a princess, probably also matched and sent away from king’s landing. alicent is her lady, and rhaenyra is always her princess. daemon or no daemon, aegon or no aegon, they are always destined to be longing for a fairy tale that doesn’t exist. and that’s so compelling because it doesn’t matter that it could never be, it’s comforting! they want to reach for each other! but it’s never anything more than a mirage, even without the dance.

the fact that they *can* quit in protocol is so everything to me because it immediately brings up the question of why the hell havent they? besides lena i don't think anyone has even suggested the idea of quitting the evil nightmare job that they all hate and whenever a way out is presented it's ignored or (shoutout gwen) flat out rejected which is sooo interesting to see after spending a whole 200 episodes following people doing everything they could to escape

the absolute angel @shelter-maki0 drew these beautiful masterpieces inspired by my fanfics Contrapasso and Mary Magdalene. I can't describe how touched I am. @shelter-maki0, to me, is probably the greatest Tomharrymort artist there is and her works, that always look haunting and fairy-tale like, inspire me endlessly. These are so beautiful and I can't stop looking at them. 私は光栄です。どうもありがとうございます!

The women at this dinner are SO. DONE.
Tori, who has anticipated the dynamics at this dinner all along and has pegged David immediately as the slimeball he is, is clearly wondering how she got sat between these two massive male egos. She's armed and ready for her confrontations with David (perhaps even looking forward to them just a tiny bit?) when things take a turn for the worse. Protective older sister mode activated.
Tumblr media
I debated adding Jane here, but she's reacting to the posturing and conflict between the men just as much as Tori or Sarah, so she deserves to be included. She spends the meal deflecting, changing topics, trying to keep the conversation in safe waters. She silently but visibly disagrees when Charlie downplays his rugby abilities (thank you, someone, for acknowledging he's not actually that bad!). But when Nick finally confronts David, her face shows dread. Anyone who's read Alice's cannon knows Jane has a complicated family history riddled with conflict, and her instinctive fear shows clearly in this moment before she realizes that Nick is going to handle this problem gracefully rather than violently.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Sarah. Having seen how lovingly she navigates life with Nick and how sensitively she helps him with his problems, we can only imagine that she has to have been pushed to the absolute edge by her time with Stephane to react the way she does here. I'm not even getting into the second half of the argument after Nick leaves the table--that's a whole other post--but Sarah is completely comfortable placing the blame squarely where it belongs, even in front of company. Sarah Nelson, putting men in their place left and right.

Leading ladies, indeed.

How do you have such good shape language and expressiveness.i have to study your art for 20 minutes each time before i draw anything
i think practicing to draw characters in 3 shapes is a good start. like legos. the more simplified the better.... also looking at a bunch of cartoons of the 2000s and their concept art helped me out a lot😗

this fandom's contempt for alicent's relationship to her faith is something else. i kinda get it, seeing as we're living in a society (at least in the west) that has moved progressively further and further away from religion, but like all things about this show that would be better if we put on our medieval sensibility goggles......there is nothing wrong about alicent's commitment to the faith of the seven. like. believing and clinging to and trying to observe the faith of her late mother is not a point against her that you can gleefully make without looking like an idiot, i can't believe i have to say it. and whether or not she is "living up to her standards" or "being a hypocrite" is neither here nor there. if a woman who was manipulated by her father into marrying an old ass man while still a girl, forced to share his bed and have his children, who had no friends and no one present she could actually trust wants to put on a seven-pointed star and wear it as part of her armor and go to the sept on the regular to pray, then she fucking deserves it!!!! this is why religion exists, you absolute heathens!!!!

Based on that Ask about if it's Parish who usually patches up my blorbos. The answer is Yes.
Parish has been dealing with Dallan's tendency to run into unfortunate shenanigans for the past 10 or so years. Dallan would probably have died a long time ago if he weren't pals with/working for a very good elven doctor. Poor dude's got Chronic Whumpee Disease.
ANYWAYS. What really started it was a dinner party Dr. Parish and a half-elf friend attended at Mr. Richard's greathouse. Dallan was just the lil resident servant boy cinnamon roll who took their coats & stuff. The head maid wasn't a fan of how the half-elf friend was critiquing her methods of keeping her staff busy so she tried to play a bit of a prank on him by messing with his food that backfired horrendously and nearly killed Wolf (and littol babby Dallan by proxy because Wolf was sharing his snacks because look at him. He was just so smol and helpful and looked like he needed a lil treat 🥺)
Doctor Parish was furious.

Heartstopper season 3 will be here soon so I watched season 2, again and I'm glad I did. There's this one scene in season 2 that I will never forget.
When Charlie confronts Ben in Episode 7 Sorry
Tumblr media
This scene hits home hard and is relatable on so many levels to me.
I'm in my late 20s and I still carry a lot of trauma that comes from my school days.
What I like about this scene is that Charlie is not expected to "forgive and forget". He states every single thing that pained him and how Ben's behavior affected him.
"I'm glad you realize what you did was wrong, but you don't get to ambush me into forgiving you."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In so many cases of school bullying stories or just any victim abuser storyline, in the end, the abuser always apologizes and the victim forgives them, and in some cases, (which are the worst) they even become best friends. I cannot imagine staying in the same room as my bully let alone becoming BFFs with them. None of us should have to deal with bullying and harassment in the first place and then be expected to shake hands with the person who made us feel so unsafe.
So when Charlie said
"I really hope you become a better person so you don't hurt anyone else, but I don't want to be there to see that happen" I was furiously nodding my head while bawling my eyes out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Me and my friend were having a conversation over text once, I don't remember about what exactly but there was an instance when my friend said
"We don't know what they(bullies) went through, they have their own share of ups and downs".
I felt this was similar to how some part of the audience reacted to this scene. Sympathy to the abuser. Ben had his fair share of struggles, yes, but that doesn't mean he gets a free pass to be mean to Charlie. I don't sympathize with Ben or my bullies.
"We were all kids, they didn't know any better"
I don't care what they went through in their life. I don't even "wish them a good life" or a bad life. I don't even want to think about them, witness their "growth" journey, or whatever... They are the reason I need therapy. Why would I even "wish" them a prosperous life?! That's just foolish and unnecessary. Whatever they "went through" is none of my business.
In Mr.Farouk's own words "I don't give a rat's arse" and I'm glad Charlie didn't too.
Tumblr media
Some of us don't even get that apology we need because people in real life don't even realize what they did was wrong.
I'm so glad Charlie called him out. I was living vicariously through Charlie in this scene. This scene gave me a sense of relief that I never found all these years. Thank you to the makers and writers of this scene. It's therapeutic to me.
