Heirs of the Night. The Power of Love
Hi, I'm writing a heirs of the night fanfic. I leave it here in case you want to take a look.
Summary: Alisa has a beating heart, a shining hand, a bond with an ancient vampire, and a destiny that will change the entire world…but none of it is more amazing than her power of love.
Chapter 1: VAMALIA
The beginning of the plague of demons
(Author: Abraham van Helsing, vampire hunter and founder of the Red Masks)
…and the tears of Count Dracula were mixed with the blood, and from the blood and the tears thirteen rubies were formed. The rubies glowed dark red and pulsed deep within. From each ruby was born one of the thirteen clans of vampires. And each clan received the gift of their birthstone, which also gave each clan its name. As long as the venerables of the clans carry the ruby, all vampires born into the clan will have the gift that the ruby bestows:
•The Dracas of Norway can read minds and communicate with each other mentally.
•Italy's Nospheres can overcome the deadly effects of holy items.
•The Vyrad of England can control the weather.
•The Pyras of France speak all animal languages.
•The Irish Lycana can change shape.
• The Romanian Upiry can make her shadow act independently of her body.
•The Belovs of Russia tolerate sunlight.
•The Arrufat of Spain can speak with the dead.
•The Tova de Holanda can overcome the paralyzing effects of water.
•The Swiss Walk can become invisible.
•The Vikla of Greece can move objects with the power of thought.
•The Turkey Grimur can catch sunlight.
•The Vamalia of Germany finally received the gift of love, and this clan is the keeper of the spark that can put out all vampire life in the world if...

I've started watching Heirs of the Night and for those interested, so far it's a really enjoyable - late 19th century setting - vampire young adult TV series, involving building friendships, some teen romances (one of which is between two queer girls), and moments with the kids protecting each other.
Tumblr media
To lay down the basics. It's about the heirs of multiple vampire clans being brought together aboard The Elisabetha to teach each other their clan powers because they are under threat of extinction and to survive they will have to come together.
And that's because in the past those clans did too good a job at slaughtering each other. So now that both the human vampire hunters are becoming too big a threat and an old enemy has woken up, they're pretty much in a bit of a 'no better alternative' scenario.
The clans in question are the Vamalia from Germany, the Dracas from Norway, the Nosferas from Italy, the Pyras from France and the Vyrad from England. This is not a complete list of all clans, but most other ones are extinct and so either largely irrelevant or a spoiler.
Tumblr media
It’s got a decently interesting mythos and though there are some things that are clearly a result of the story being aimed towards the teen audience, it’s also not nearly as cringy as one might have feared.
From a production perspective, what you might like to know is that this is a Dutch/Norwegian/German collaboration-production and though the show is mainly in English, the characters when speaking between themselves also often speak in their native languages (with subtitles).
Tumblr media
Now if you’re looking for some kind of cinematography masterpiece with flawless CGI and Game of Thrones levels of adult gore and violence this is not that show. But it’s also not a cheap low level production, they spent quite a bit of money on this thing and it does show (it was filmed in multiple European countries and the costumes and sets are actually pretty beautiful).
And with 2 seasons of 13 episodes each out, I think it’s worth at least checking out to see if it’s something that might interest you.

I like how each clan has a different eye color, instead of all of them having red eyes. Not everyone listed, focusing on early episodes.

42 and 79 :)
Ooh!
42. do you really relate to your zodiac?
I’m a Libra so kinda? Balance of things. Symmetry. Equality. Yeah I do. And being indecisive. That also sounds like me :D
79. what fictional character do you relate to the most?
Tough question. Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Luke Castellan, Alisa de Vamalia, John Wick, Hermione Granger, Tommy Shelby and Hazel Levesque are all characters that I hold dear to my heart and everyone has a facet that just speaks to me? If all of them would be mashed into one amazing character that’d be it! But if I had to pick one out of those that I’ve mentioned I’d probably say Hazel!
Thanks for asking!! :D

I love how the name Alisa calls Franz Leopold by, tells the reader about their relationship.
In the first three books she always calls him by his full name, Franz Leopold.
When they start getting along better with each other she automatically calls him Leo.
He bites Clarissa? Franz Leopold. The end of Dracas? Leo. During Vyrad? Franz Leopold and at the end again Leo.
I just love this detail so much!!

Hey, your bio says that you “like talking about your favourite books but unfortunately no one knows about them” so I was wondering — what are your favourite books?
OMG thank you for your question! This is my first ever ask and receiving it from such a talented and nice person like you is a great honour! Also sorry it took me so long...
My favourite books are the 'Die Erben der Nacht' series (translated into english 'the heirs of the night') by Ulrike Schweikert. It's a german book series wich contains six books. They are historical fiction (1877-1883) mixed with Fantasy (it's about vampires, but there are also other magical creatures like werewolves). It deals with topics like coming of age, friendship and love.
There are well written characters with pretty impressive character development and the plot is also pretty good. It's basically about how the vampires get repressed and decide to teach their children together. The main characters are a group of young vampires from various clans who become friends and more later on... two of them have a pretty good rivals to lovers arc. They have to overcome various challenges through the years all leading to defeat the mega villain Dracula later on. There is also a suplot with an orphan girl who lives with her vampire hunting uncle that falls in love with one of the vampire teens. The books are filled with a lots of information about culture, science and society back then.
You also meet many famous people from that time. The most important one being Bram Stoker who is an important part of the Story. Not only adopts he the orphan girl when her uncle dies but he also helps defeating Dracula along with Doktor van Helsing the vampire hunter. The plot basically inspires him to write Dracula.
You also meet other people like Oscar Wilde or empress Sisi of Austria.
The four main vampires also befriend the phantom of the opera in the third book.
The books also deal with things like feminism and stuff like that
I recommend it for people that speak German (obviously) who are interested in vampires and history and don't look for a literally masterpiece, cause it really isn't. It's a great YA book and an easy and quick read.

Underrated Die Erben der Nacht friendships:
Alisa/Luciano (like common at the beginning of every school year she runs up to hug him, she protects him from his bullies and they care so much for each other)
Alisa and Malcolm (Again an amazing female x male friendship. And yes Alisa was in love with him and he most likely had feelings for her at one point too, but their friendship in the last book is amazing! They are silly with each other, they can talk and talk and help each other with the sadness of not being with their lovers.)
Clarissa and Latona (I mean the parellels between them are insane. Like they are human girls falling in love with their vampires. In Dracas Latona helps Clarissa accept and like her new life and she lets Latona feel closer to Malcom. They are literally so sweet.)
Seymour and Clarissa (I love how he also helps her manage her new found life and how they just can make each other happy with just being there for each other.
Luciano and Ivy (Luciano is just the purest cinamon roll and a friend every girl can whish for. He's always protective of her and cares so deeply for all his friends. Protect that man at all cost!!)
Tammo, Joanne, Fernand (I just love that even though the Pyras are years older than him they still bond over their desire for adventure. Also I just love how much they like each other. So cute!)
Hindrik and Matthias!! (I think it's so cute that they do so much together and actually develop a friendship over the years due to Alisa and Franz Leopold always hanging out together. Tbh I have this headcanon that they are more than friends and that Matthias followed Leo to Hamburg (that man needs his shadow! I mean who would do his laundry and stuff for him?) And like Matthias is finally in an environmet that honours him and they can just live their gay men dreams!!)
Bram Stoker, Van Helsing and all the young vampires + Latona (Bram has literally adopted all of them and it's like so cute. Also it's so cute how they defeat Dracula all together. Peek found family!!)
Bram and Oscar Wilde (I mean they were friends in real life so I love how Ulrike Schweikert included their friendship in her books. It's so cute how they are travelling together and Oscar is that little Drama queen while Bram is just calm all the time. Also how Oscar always makes jokes about Bram's obsession with vampires. FRIENDSHIP GOALS!!
And last but not least: Alisa and Vincent (Them just bonding over books is chef's kiss.)
It's amazing how much work Ulrike Schweikert pours into platonic relationships!!
