Less than 48 hours since ordering and the shaggy comforter cover set has already arrived. In the second image you can see how much darker this actually-sage-green thing is than the supposedly-sage-green fuzzy blanket. Also the colour difference between artificial light (left) and sunlight (right).

Shaggy thing (which looks amusingly and mildly distressingly like I bagged and skinned a very large muppet for its fabric) is still perking up from being compressed during shipping. I’ll probably run it through the dryer on low heat cycle to fluff it up properly (and blow off any loose bits of fibre) before using it. I figure if I don’t insert a comforter in it, I can get some use out of it as an extra-thick and fluffy blanket before it goes into storage until next fall.

Meanwhile the sheet set only just finally set out from Salt Lake City in the US southwest yesterday. The quilt set should be arriving tomorrow. The two remaining pillows (coming from China) passed through Toronto on Monday, so they could probably arrive here any time from now until Friday.

So unless the sheet set makes a super-fast journey it’ll probably be some time next week before I can put everything together on the bed. Even so, I am excite.

As the rays of the early morning sun peaked through the trees illuminating patches and slowly drying the dew, Teddy wandered the woods and found bright red Amanita Muscaria popping through the duff of the forest floor. Lounging this way and that Teddy inspected each, cleared needles from some and even found a broad fully opened one that was the perfect little seat. Oh to be a little bear galivanting through the woods on a crisp morning without a care in the world.

So, a year and a bit after starting my own version of a moss bed, I've decided to finally get around to ordering a few more things for it, the first of which arrived today. Yes, an amanita mushroom plushie; it's been on my to-buy list since my first tentative bookmarking of potential stuff for the bed. This one comes in a range of sizes, and I decided that the 10" sounded like a decent one to go for. I am amused by how many layers of packing it had around it to force it into a hard oblong ball for shipping. The plushie was rolled up tight inside a clear plastic bag with a band of clear packing tape around it to help prevent it from expanding, inside an opaque thick black plastic bag, which was thoroughly wrapped in even more clear packing tape. Which arrived in a plastic mailer.

Puffed up nicely once unwrapped, and his smile fits well with that on my existing bolster-shaped bumble bee plushie. They can look dementedly cheerful together.

(I know, they're stupidly cute. I'm having fun with looking for even more cute things for the moss bed.)

The pink flower cushion has ended up being a year-round addition to my bed; it's vaguely bowl-shaped and is therefor a useful rallying point for things like my reading glasses, phone, bluetooth speaker, etc.

Feb 24 - did several small things today. Finished portioning the ground beef to go in freezer (except for some I kept aside to make a vat of meat sauce tomorrow). Vacuumed the upstairs bedrooms (also changed vacuum bag). Sorted through a bunch of rarely worn anymore clothing, some of which has gone into an underbed storage bag, and the remainder into a clear plastic garbage bag. To be donated to... somewhere. Probably.

Also I finally gave in and ordered stuff to do a moss/forest themed bed. Decided that rather than getting a queen sized comforter cover I’d go with a king sized fuzzy blanket, which cost half as much and in theory could be used as a throw over a couch after I move out, so I have the option of moss bed or moss couch. Also makes the seasons it’s usable for longer.

Most of the items are coming from resellers in China, so we’ll see how long everything takes to show up - estimated delivery dates seem to be 1 to 1.5 months (ouch). These are what I’ve ordered so far (will possibly add some more things later - there was a cute amanita mushroom plushie, among other things):

It’s hard to see in the picture, but the blanket has a leaf pattern cropped into one side, and the reverse side is a shaggy sherpa fleece. The bee plushie is big enough to use as a bolster pillow (12″ long), while the flower and leaves are all supposed to be around 20″ in longest dimension.

(Oh hey, just got a notice that the flower-shaped pillow shipped, yay!)

Supper was hashed potatoes, lemon-pepper breaded fish fillets, and kernel corn.
