Eir Divinity wants to become a very high magical being - a witch, and angel, maybe even a god. It wants to do so for personal euphoria and to gain strength to protect the system. dar really wants someone to help her learn magic.

Their space in their system looks like a palace courtyard. It is filled with plant and animal life, and pretty much only has the colors pinks, white, and black. The only thing that changes color is whatever is brewing in the giant cauldron in the center. Ey study magic here , and with enough energy can use the cauldron to create innocence if needed.

Lore Dumping About D&D Characters, Part 1

I may not be able to play all of these characters anymore, but that doesn’t mean I can’t yap about them and show them off like special little figurines!

Taura Elistacia - Half-Elf Battle Smith Artificer (Status: Retired)

Since I lost the friends I played the campaign that Taura was in with, which was set in Wildemount, I can’t play her anymore, but she is by far my favorite of my D&D characters to date.

“Hailing from the industrial town of Hupperdook in the Dwendalian Empire, Taura was the daughter of a renowned human inventor and an elven woman. Her mother left shortly after she was born, something she never got over, leaving her to be raised by her father until she was ten, when he was murdered in front of her. After that, she was forced to live a life on the streets, struggling to survive as, all the while, she taught herself in the ways of inventing and engineering, using both her father's teachings and what she learned on her own, from watching others and figuring things out herself. Eventually, using her newfound skills, she managed to get herself out of the streets, and, alongside her robot companion, Tink, finds herself ready to explore just what's out there waiting for her.”

Fun Facts: Her prized weapon is a rifle called “The Matron’s Whisper”, imbued with the power of the Raven Queen, and whenever she gets a critical hit, she turns invisible; she is a Percy De Rolo fangirl; despite having a 9 in charisma, she had the most romantic success of anyone in the party; she cried her way out of jail; she had a prosthetic hand (she accidentally blew her hand off while testing out one of her guns); she wears a gold necklace with a red jewel in the center given to her by her father and rarely ever takes it off

Styrmiria - Tiefling Path of the Storm Herald Barbarian/Storm Sorcerer (Status: Retired)

Another character I can no longer play without the friend group, Styrmiria was part of a homebrew campaign, and I love her very much. She is the reason Barbarian is now one of my favorite classes to play.

“Styrmiria was born into Clan Siris during one of the largest Maelstrom expansions in a century, thereby gaining the power of the storm due to the circumstances of her birth. She spent much of her youth training and honing her talents, eventually becoming a good enough warrior to be allowed to join the Unifier's Honor Guard as a representative of her clan. However, after one particular mission, in which she was charged with accompanying the Unifier into the Maelstrom to get to a diplomatic meeting in Marielen, she was exiled from her clan due to having contact with the Maelstrom, a choice she willing made knowing the consequences. Unable to return home, she instead made her way to Vandrin's Folley, where she met Cade Underbrough, a halfling scholar, and began a relationship with him. During her time in Vandrin's Folley, Styrmiria has begun having ominous dreams of the Maelstrom dying and releasing its energy somewhere, ending with visions of the storm clouds gathering over mountains in the north and the howling of wolves...”

Fun Facts: She fought and killed a giant boar single-handedly and then sent the head to her boyfriend; her great-ax is called Scourge and it prevents anyone it hits from healing; she was the mother-figure of the party; she has the ability to charm people because on her homebrew Tiefling sub-race

Laressa Laenys - Tiefling Circle of Land (Desert) Druid (Status: Active)

Laressa is part of a homebrew campaign with entirely different people than the others, so she is still one that I play! She is very iconic and very traumatized and I love her.

“Laressa was born to a half-elf father and human mother, Andol and Lerile Laenys in a small town located at the base of a mountain called Alryne. She was one of two children, the other being her younger half-elf sister, Londrai.

Although she was loved and accepted by her family, others didn’t share their sentiment, and she was often the subject of ridicule and resentment.

Despite her parents’ attempts to shield her from it, Laressa was well-aware of what was going on, and as a child, it made her very upset. Oftentimes, she would get into fights with other children who made fun of or insulted her for being a Tiefling, which only got her into more trouble and made things worse.

However, when she was around 12 years old, in one particular fight with a boy named Raylen Slatebane, she accidentally burned him with an unintentional use of Hellish Rebuke, severely damaging his face. The townspeople were furious with her and demanded that she be punished. Her parents managed to prevent her from receiving any serious repercussions, but Laressa never forgave herself, and neither did the townspeople.

She closed herself off, spending more and more time away from the town, in the woods beyond it. She had always had an affinity for nature, with a special connection to it that no one could quite explain. Her father believed it came from his mother, a once-famous elven druid named Zylphine Laenys, while her mother thought it was a blessing from the gods.

Regardless of where her abilities came from, Laressa had them, and she decided to focus on learning how to control them so that she would not hurt anyone else and use them for good.

For a while, she was making good progress, until an incident, when she was 16 years old that ended up in the destruction of several buildings in the town and several injured people when she unintentionally caused an earthquake in response to being harassed by a group of teenagers, including Raylen. One of the teens, Raylen’s girlfriend Zelile, ended up being killed in the earthquake, and after that, Laressa knew that she couldn’t stay anymore, as the townspeople who had so despised her would never forgive her.

So she ran away, without even getting a chance to say goodbye to her family. She does not know if they are still there or what has happened to them since she left.

After wandering for several months, crossing over the mountains, she ended up in a vast desert, where she became lost and almost died, before being saved by a caravan of earth genasi druids, who took her in and trained her in their ways. She became close with a woman named Torra, who became her mentor and maternal figure and taught her many of the druidic arts that she currently uses. She also formed a close relationship with another girl around her age named Fiara. They quickly became friends once Laressa joined the caravan, and their close friendship eventually became something more.

Laressa stayed with the earth genasi, traveling the desert and learning their ways, until she was 23 years old. It was then that the caravan was attacked by a female ancient blue dragon, Kariyth, whose hoard was located within a desert mountain the caravan was passing by. Most of the caravan was killed, and Laressa was forced to flee with Fiara when Torra sacrificed herself for them to escape.

They made it to an oasis city, Drona, run by an eccentric elven warlord called Hernelis Danorron, who found use for their druidic abilities and allowed them to stay if they swore themselves into his service, which they agreed to, ready to do whatever it took to survive.

However, a few months after arriving in the city, it was attacked by another desert warlord, and although Drona was able to defend against him with the help of Laressa and Fiara, in all the chaos of the fighting, Fiara was mortally wounded. Laressa held her as she died. And for the first time in a long time, she lost control.

After that, Laressa swore to take revenge on all those who had taken the people she loved from her, the warlord and Kariyth alike, and to protect those who cannot protect themselves, so that no one had to experience the pain and loss she had, to go through the life she had.

But for now, she wanders, offering her services to those who need it, biding her time until she can get her justice and leave the world better than when she came into it.”

Fun Facts: She has a crush on someone in the party; she barely hits anything ever lol; she prefers to wild shape when she fights (I just usually forget to do that); she has a pan flute that lets her summon an army of rats (no I am not making that up)

Un Chien Andolou, is a surrealist movie that had a huge impact of my by the time. Luis Buñuel (director) added some events happening on his dreams to the scenario, which made It so appealing to me.

This is a reboot project of the eye cutting scene from " Un Chien Andolou". This scene is pretty popular and the movie is one of the first examples of the surreal cinema.

Emlékszem még arra a korai középsulis időszakra, amikor elkezdődött a 9. osztály és az osztálytársakkal elkezdtünk ismerkedni. Rögtön megindult a klikkesedés, hogy ki milyen ember és mit szeret jobban. Nálam ez valahogy érdekesen ment, mert én nem igazán voltam az a célirányosan csak egy csoportba tartozó kölyök akkor. Mindenkivel szerettem jó viszonyt kialakítani, ami nem mindig sikerült (sokszor szekáltak azért mert sportoltam, és egy „picikét” kocka voltam), de valahogy mégis sikerült ezen az útvonalon maradnom a technikum végéig. Ekkor már benne voltam a death metal világában, kezdtem ismerkedni a nu metal és egyéb műfajok igazi elegyeivel, és épp ekkor kezdett el vonzani engem a metalcore, és még a New Wave Of American Metal, röviden NWOAHM, ahova lehetett sorolni különböző korai metalcore együtteseket, mint például a Shadows Fall-t, God Forbid-ot, Trivium-ot és az As I Lay Dying-ot. Néhányuk jogosan került bele ebbe a skatulyába, azonban elég nehéz volt definiálni, hogy pontosan mely együttesek tartoznak ebbe bele, és megmondom őszintén, én még a mai napig benne vagyok ebben a dilemmában.

A Chimaira pontosan ez a fajta banda, akik sok helyen metalcore bandaként vannak bejelölve, de ez egy nagyon rossz megállapítás, mert a metalcore műfajra jellemző stílusjegyek egyáltalán nincsenek jelen a zenekarnál. Sokkal inkább az a fajta együttes, akik ötvözik a Pantera-t, a Fear Factory-t nagyon thrash és hardcore elemmekkel. Amikor először találkoztam velük, pont a Roadrunner United koncert DVD-jén hallottam a Pure Hatred dalokat, amit a Hatebreed énekesevél Jamie Jastával, a Fear Factory gitárosával, Dino Cazares-el, Andreas Kisser-el, a Sepultura gitárosával Adam Deuce-al, a Machine Head basszerosával és a Chimaira ex-dobosával, Andols Herrick-el adtak elő. A dal maga tömény, nyers zsigeri zúzdájával azonnali rajongóvá tett, és rögtön elkezdtem kutatni a banda anyagai után. És így vált gyakorlatilag a The Impossibility Of Reason lemez számomra az igazi Modern Metál lemezzé! Kb mondhatnám azt, hogy a 2003-as év Reign of Blood-ja volt. Semmi speciális líraiság, meg kísérletezés, hanem brutális, egyirányú kőkemény zúzdadömping! És mára 2023-ban hihetetlennek találom, hogy ez a lemez 20 év elteltével is igenis nagyon releváns a metalcore és modern metalosok körében. A banda 98-as alakulása óta kiadott egy Ep-t, a This Present Darkness néven, ami 2000-ben látott napvilágot, és 2001-ben kiadták a Pass Out Of Existence nagylemezt, bemutatva a zenekart. Az együttes ekkor már a Roadrunner Records-hoz igazolt, ahová folyamatosan kerültek be a friss és új bandák, mint a Trivium, Spineshank, Killswitch Engage, 36 Crazyfists. Igaz, a debütáló lemez nem hozott akkora sikert a bandának, de azért elkezdtek felfigyelni rájuk. A kiadó elkezdett morfondírozni azon, hogy felbontsák a bandával a lemezszerződést (volt már rá példa a Roadrunner-nél a death metal érában), illetve javaslatokkal bombázták őket, hogy milyen irányba kéne menniük, de a banda ezeket mind elutasította. Ezek után a banda majdnem 1 éven keresztül írta a következő sorlemezük anyagát, azzal a céllal és hozzáállással, hogy nem érdekli őket az irányvonal, olyan zenét fognak írni ami nekik tetszik, és a dolog ilyen egyszerű. A puszta negatívitás és a stresszhelyzetek szülték a helyzetet, ahogy hallgatom újra és újra a lemezt, meg ahogy nézem hozzá a a Dehumanizing Process DVD-t, amit később adtak ki hozzá, hogy a rajongók lássák hogy, és miképp készült ez a monstrum. A stúdiómunkálatokat egy garázsból átalakított stúdióban vették föl, szülővárosukban Cleveland-ben és a végeredményt 2003 Március 13-án hallhatta meg a nagyvilág. Még továbbra se hiszem el, és lehet ezzel csak ismétlem magam, de ha egy ilyen lemez csak úgy születik, hogy fel legyünk húzva, akkor engem szüntelenül, napi 24 órában kéne idegesítsen, hogy ilyen remekműveket kreáljak!(hehe)

Nincs üresjárat ezen a lemezen! NINCS! Az Impossibility of Reason a majdnem egy órás játékidejével odaszegezi a hallgatót és folyamatosan árasztja a tesztoterontól és adrenalintól bűzlő iszonyat súlyos dalokat. Remek riffek, igazán emlékezetes részek, amik azonnal megragadnak az ember fejében. Nem túlbonyolított dalszerkezetek, bár Andols Herrick, a zenekar dobosa azért igazán érdekes témákkal fűszerezte meg itt-ott a dalokat, hogy azért ne legyenek teljes mértékben egysíkúak. Mark Hunter, a zenekar énekese hengerlő és betonozó, magas üvöltéséből szinte sugárzik az agresszió és az a hozzáállás, hogy „Nekünk aztán rohadtul senki ne mondja meg, hogy mit csináljunk”, és ezzel maximálisan egyet is tudok érteni, mert magam is gondolkodóba esek, hogy egy külső személy miért akar minden áron belekontárkodni a zenészek alkotói szabadságába??? Még akkor is, ha a lemezkiadó alelnökéről van szó! Ő csak intézze a promóciót, a többit bízza az együttesre! Na lényegtelen… Ahogy a lemez rástartol a Cleansation-nel, az már egy azonnali hívószónak indul, hogy takarodás a moshpitbe, mert ez nem lesz piskóta! A hangzás az előző lemezhez képest sokkal letisztultabb és DÖG(!)-szerűen szólal meg, hogy nagyon sokáig minden zenekar ezt, vagy az As I Lay Dying hangzást kérte a stúdiómérnököktől. Azért persze észrevehető maradt, hogy a sampleres, Chris Spicuzza ide-oda berak egy-két érdekes elektronikus-indusztriális csodát, de egyáltalán nem viszi el a zenét atmoszférikus szintre, hanem minden dalhoz olyan elemet rak oda, ami a zenéhez passzol. A The Impossibility Of Reason dalt minden régisulis thrasher megirigyelhetné, és a Pictures In The Cold Room húzós groove riffjétől szabályos libabőr kerülget. Nagyon érződnek ezeken a dalokon, hogy groove, hardcore thrash és egy csipetnyi industrial került bele, de mindig azon kapom magam, hogy esszenciálisan, és mesterien vannak összerakva a dalok. Mark tiszta éneklése nagyobb teret kap, de nem annyira, hogy visszavesse a zene agresszióját és dinamikáját. Az utánuk következő favorit daltriumvirátusom a Power Trip/ Down Again/Pure Hatred igazi ékkövekként tündökölnek, mert a Power Trip és a Pure Hatred igazi istentelenül dühös és gyalázatosan betonozó dalok, köztük meg a Down Again inkább balladisztikus zongora intrójával üde színfoltnak tűnik ugyan a lemezen, de ez egyáltalán ne tévesszen meg! Nem… Ez a dal is ugyanolyan földbe döngölő mint a másik kettő, csak más perspektívából kell nézni. A Dehumazing Process féktelensége és spontán megállós témaváltakozásai fület kápráztatóak, és egy-két helyen jól hallhatóak a Fear Factory behatások. A Crawl lassú indulása ad egy igen ijesztő és néhol Sludge-os képvilágot, ahol még Mark hangja is inkább Crowbar-os próbálna lenni, igaz a saját vokál tartományán belül. Az utána következő Stigmurder viszont ismét visszaránt minket a thrashes, groove-os zúzdaorgiába és fojtogat minket a gondolat, hogy ezek hogy voltak képesek mindezt véghez vinni? De nem is akarom tudni a választ… Eyes Of a Criminal középtempós ritmusos riffje még most is ott cseng a fülemben és a Overlooked picivel komplexebb témája és zúzdássága továbbra is intenzív nyakfájdalmakat okoz nekem, mert ösztönösen megindul az ember amint meghallja a nótát. A végére meg jön a 12 perces Implements of Destruction, és itt a zenekar bevet némi muzikalitást is modernizálással ötvözve instrumentálisan, de olyan jól adagolva, hogy véleményem szerint (mert nekem is lehet) sok progbanda ezt a teljesítményt megirigyelhetné.

Természetesen a megjelenés után a lemez határozottan nagyobb sikert hozott a bandának, mint ahogy azt gondolták és a Roadrunner is végre elégedetten mondhatta azt, hogy a banda megtalálta azt amire szükségük volt és ez pedig az a céltudatosság. A magam részéről is azt mondom, hogy ez a lemez és alapjában véve a Chimaira letette a modern groove metal alapkövét ezzel a lemezzel és bátran oda tudom helyezni a Slipknot IOWA lemeze mellé, mint az egyik legdühösebb albumot, amit valaha hallgattam az életemben. Aki esetlegesen még csak most hall először a bandáról annak javasolni tudom ezt a lemezt, ha kell neki egy kis extra dinamika és agresszió. Azok, akik viszont régről ismerik, és szeretik, azok vegyék elő és bontsák szét a szobájukban lévő összes garnitúrát, mert ez a lemez körülbelül ilyen érzést ad, és fog adni még így 20 év után is.

Today was a day....

Good things happened...cringe things happened. All in all...I s'pose it was a reasonable weekend before work starts back tomorrow. I have photographs and videos from the wander up at lettuce lake.

There was plenty of lettuce, not much lake though. The sunshine was nice as well. I listened to my earbuds at very maximum loudness.....i had zero cares to give for hearing any of the anyone else around me.

I saw an armadillo. I saw two roseate spoonbills. One of those water birds drying its wings (andole? anole? something like that maybe?)

I saw a gator eat a fish. Someone's dad lost their hat.

My mom ran her marathon today. Very glad she accomplished her goal. Wonder what she'll do next? How long til the next run!?

I s'pose I'm going to look into a book about Chakras and fall down that rabbit hole sometime. Or at least add it to the list of potential things to do. I've been progressing in Hollow Knight again as well. I want double jump but I've forgotten how to find the Lost Kin. I'll get it figured out soon enough.

I have a few people ahead of me before I can check out The Mountain in the Sea again...I could start the Wings of Fire series that came highly recommended. I would like to have some dedicated reading time. I can barely find time to make one or some of these in a day.

I am glad to be doing it though. See how long I can keep up the streak. Gonna go look through pictures now!
