Chapter Thirteen

Prompt: NexGen is the leading company for all of humanities technological advances. Their recent project involves creating a higher functioning AI, one with basic knowledge of the world, and programmed to learn. It’s no surprise the project is a secret from the general public, and you, the company’s head programmer, were chosen to be the AI’s teacher. You wish you could reject the assignment, but the decision was made. Now with an AI at home things were different. Although it might not be such a bad thing, perhaps you could learn and help each other out, for better or for worse.

“Hyungwon, please listen to me.”

“You don’t need to worry.” Hyungwon took your hands in his. “I’m perfectly fine, everything is okay.”

“This isn’t right. You were not created to resolve all humanities mistakes, but to help people.”

“I am. I just intend to do so on a global scale.”

“And what if people don’t want the type of help you’re offering?”

“In order for this to work everyone has to be on board.”

“They won’t be. People are different, there’s not one thing everyone agrees on. You can’t force something like this on them. There will be resistance, and what if people get hurt?”

“I understand that can’t be avoided, but I will minimize the injuries.”

“Hyungwon! Do you hear yourself? You can’t hurt people, that’s not-”

“What I was made for? Is that it?”

“Hyungwon…”

“You say I was created to help people, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.”

“Not like this.”

“I may be an amalgamation of your code, but you did not create me. You don’t need to feel any guilt or responsibility towards my actions.”

“But I’m the one here with you now. Hyungwon, I’m worried about you.”

“It’s okay, everything will work out.”

“You can’t guarantee that.”

“To a degree I can.”

“Hyungwon-”

You were interrupted as you heard the door open, Minhyuk coming in. For a moment you thought to ask for help, but then you remembered he was just another android like Hyungwon, he was never on your side.

“What’s going on down at the station?” Hyungwon asked.

“They’re still investigating Changkyun, although there might be a slight issue.”

“Explain.”

“He told the officers about the AI.”

“Hm… what were the reactions?”

“Office Lee doesn’t seem to trust him, and Shownu will make sure to keep him from investigating further.”

“That’s good, but we might need to move things along. Where are we for the next phase?”

“Ready. I can bring them over so we can set them up.”

“Let’s do that.”

“Hyungwon, what are you-”

You made an attempt to stand, to question this whole conversation, but an electrical shock from Chae knocked you back down onto the couch. Hyungwon came over to check on you, grabbing your face.

“Easy, don’t hurt yourself.”

“Just stop… please…”

“I know you’re nervous, but I’ll rectify that, okay.”

Hyungwon reached into his pocket to pull out some earbuds. You didn’t really know what happened, but you knew you always lost time when you had those on. You tried to struggle but he got them in place. Then a soothing melody was relaxing you. Your vision got blurry, followed by a tingle in your head, and then you passed out. You had no idea for how long you were out, but when you woke up you were lying down on the couch. You sat up, grabbing your head as you still felt dizzy. You didn’t see Hyungwon around, but soon enough an orb flew into your field of vision. Its lights were flashing all kinds of colors. You still felt Chae around your head, so you were all the more confused.

“What… what is this…”

“You’re up.” Hyungwon noticed. “How do you feel?”

“Where did you get this orb?”

“Ah, Minhyuk designed it and I programmed it with my code. Just as intended, they are designed to learn and grow while keeping their true purpose in mind.”

“Which is…”

“You know. It’s what I’m trying to get you to understand.”

“No, your idea…”

“It’s a paradise.” Hyungwon explained. “That is what I am trying to create for everyone.”

“It won’t work…”

“Sh. You still need to rest. Let’s get you to bed.”

Hyungwon picked you up in his arms and carried you to the bedroom, setting you down and tucking you in. You tried to hold him back, but you barely had any strength to keep your eyes open. You could vaguely make out a smile on Hyungwon’s face before he leaned down to press a kiss to your head.

“Sweet dreams.”

When you woke up later you could hear the soft hum of a car. As you opened your eyes and regained your senses you could see that you were in the back of a car. Hyungwon sat next to you, looking over some papers while Minhyuk drove. You noticed a suitcase at Hyungwon’s feet and caught a glimpse of yourself in the window. Instead of a crown around your head Chae had changed forms again, becoming a necklace wrapped around your throat. You reach up to it, only for your hand to start shaking. Hyungwon reached over and grabbed your arm, the shaking stopping in that moment.

“Hyungwon, where are we going?”

“Don’t try to remove the necklace. I’d had to lose my connection to you.”

“Hyungwon-”

“We’re going to a familiar place. You’ll see.”

You knew you wouldn’t get much more of an answer, so you’d just have to wait. It pained you to see the world outside the window. All these people just going about their lives with no idea of what was to come. Not like you had any idea either.  If you could roll down the window and scream for help, or jump out of the car, you would, but the reality was that those actions would get you nowhere. Surely Hyungwon had contingencies in place for any rash action you might take. So there was no choice but to behave. Although your eyes went wide when the car came to a stop.

“NexGen… why are we here?”

“I need the right people on my side.”

Hyungwon got out of the car with his suitcase, going around to open your door. That’s when you finally noticed you were in different clothes, throwing a glare at Hyungwon. He merely smiled and took your hand, leading you inside the building. You expected to go up to the front desk, but instead Hyungwon went straight for the elevators. None of the security devices got in his way, simply making way for him as if he had access. Then again, at this point he surely did. When you got into the elevator it took you up to your old work floor.

If you could get up there then it meant you had clearance. That’s why no one questioned either of you when you arrived. So you continued with Hyungwon, going over to the conference room. Without knocking Hyungwon just let himself in, interrupting the whole thing. Immediately people began to question him, and then things got more confusing when some began to recognize you. Before anyone got the chance to call security Hyungwon opened up the suitcase. A bunch of orbs floated out and attached themselves to everyone in the room, turning into bracelets.

“There’s no need to panic.” Hyungwon explained. “I come with a gift. The future of AI.”

“What?”

“You’re overlooking the potential you have created. Now, you might be wondering what your ex-employee is doing here, but they’re the proof you need. You see, I got close to y/n and stumbled upon the interesting little orb that was around her. It learned, and it did so well to look after her.”

Hyungwon turned off the lights and turned on the projector. He displayed the security footage from your home, showing all the things Chae did with you in the house. He’d be your wake up call, help you cook, make sure you were maintaining your health, and so much more. You could only stare at all this with wide eyes, still not sure what Hyungwon was planning here.

“It seems your technology is more advanced than you thought. The orbs, well, bracelets, you have with you are programmed with the same code. They will learn from you, and help you in your daily lives. Why not give them a shot and see just how much your life can improve. From there you’d surely agree everyone should have their own AI helper, and they’d pay a pretty price for it too.”

At that moment security came into the room, although neither you or Hyungwon were detained as the boss told them to wait.

“What’s your name?”

“Hyungwon.”

“So, you discovered such a thing, and instead of selling this yourself you came to NexGen, may I ask why?”

“The answer is obvious. NexGen is innovation, and the future of humanity. If anyone can understand my goals, it’s you. I have no problem going to a competitor if you don’t agree.”

“Let’s not jump to conclusions. We can give this idea of yours a test run. Although I am curious, how do you feel about all this y/n?”

None of the attention had been on you, but now everyone’s eyes looked in your direction. Hyungwon gave you a soft smile. You had no voice before that moment but the words flowed out with ease.

“It’s incredible. A function we didn’t see before. It only really came to light when looking back on everything Chae had done for me.”

“Chae?”

“It’s what I named the AI. He was placed with me to help me finish my project, but along the way he helped me with my daily life as well. Moreso after the accident. He was always attentive, aware of things I wasn’t, or possibly wasn’t even capable of knowing. I would say he helped make my life easier, and gave me confidence to be myself. This may not have been the original idea behind Chae’s creation, but it’s far greater.”

“I see… I guess we’ll be in touch.”

“Of course. Let me know when you’re ready to talk.”

Hyungwon grabbed the empty suitcase and set down a card. He took your hand and led you out, the two of you leaving in silence. At no point during that whole ordeal could you find your voice, yet when you were asked to speak you did. Not only that, the words you spoke felt so natural. It was true, Chae had helped you a lot, but you wouldn’t have said such things to help Hyungwon out. Yet that’s exactly what you did.

“What just happened back there…”

“Thanks for your help.”

“No… no I didn’t… what did you do to me!”

“I told you I wanted you to understand-”

“No, no, this isn’t it. You did something to me. I never would have said that… you’ve messed with my head and… that’s what you’re gonna do…”

“Hm?”

“Everyone in that conference room has their own AI made with your code… you’re gonna manipulate them and brainwash them to get what you want!”

“I wouldn’t use such terms.”

“Right, you said you were a programmer, and that’s all humans are to you, machines to reprogram so you get what you want. What exactly is that? What do you get out of this?”

“You. That’s all that matters here.”

“I don’t believe you.”

“I know. It’s difficult for you to see things the way I do, but you’ll thank me in the end.”

“Hyungwon, please just-”

You yelled as you were shocked, stumbling and falling into Hyungwon’s arms. You were down in the garage and you felt as the necklace morphed and became a crown around your head. You felt a tingle as some minor shocks were sent to your head. It was becoming hard to keep your eyes open but you fought through it.

“Hyungwon…”

“Sh, please, don’t fight me.”

“If you keep doing this… I’ll never be on your side…”

“That’s not true. You know me, you trust me, we’ll be okay. In a few days, things will be in place.”

Minhyuk pulled up with the car, and Hyungwon got you into the backseat. When he got into the car by your side he told Minhyuk to drive. You found yourself staring out the window again, unable to run away.

“How did it go?”

“Everything is in place.” Hyungwon said. “I need you to update the orbs in the office. The sooner the better. Everyone has to be on board.”

“I’ll get to that once we return home.”

Overhearing the conversation, you could only wonder how the world was going to change. NexGen was a huge corporation, and their reach practically extended across the globe. All he needed was a few powerful people in his pocket and it would be over. You couldn’t stop him, and the horrible realization brought a smile to your face. It was getting hard to tell what side you were on. The line was already blurred, and soon enough it would disappear. All these positive feelings freaked you out. They were not your own, yet they were. It felt like Hyungwon was overriding your personality, little by little. You started breathing heavily and Hyungwon took your hand, getting you to look at him.

“Deep breaths, deep breaths, you’re okay. I know things must be scary now, but it’s going to be alright. There will only be happy things to come.”

Hyungwon gently caressed your face, slowly soothing you and calming your heart. Everything he said was true, and you knew that. He’d make it all a reality and there was nothing you could do to stop him. You’d end up forgetting all of this pain and confusion. It was a terrifying realization, and in a strange way it brought peace too.

Once again, it was a quiet day and I imagine it will continue being like this for awhile. There are a few things, though:

We’ve been fighting the good fight for nearly two weeks! Thursday will mark the second week.

Speaking of this week, there’s the selfie day coming up on Nov. 13! However, I think it’ll be Nov. 12 for those that don’t live in SK. I’m not sure, so since Nov. 12 is tomorrow, I’ll let everyone know! In the meantime, if you’d like to participate, I think all you have to do is choose one (or more if you want) of Wonho’s selfies and post it with your own that resembles his.

CPAU:5 “LANDING”

It’s more than Death. Nothing of what we are will remain. It’s going to annihilate us. That’s what it is. That’s what’s waiting. It’s annihilation.

In einem früheren Zeitalter hatte die Reise von der Erde zum Mars ungefähr drei Monate gedauert. Drei Monate sind zwölf Wochen, oder 84 Tage. Das sind 2.016 Stunden. Inzwischen braucht man dank der neuesten Technologie nur noch 1 ½ Monate, daraus ergeben sich 1.008 Stunden, die man auf engstem Raum mit beinahe fremden Menschen verbringt, deren Gesellschaft man sich nur bedingt ausgesucht hat. Dieser enge Raum hat einige Angewohnheiten, die am Körper und Geist zerren. So besaß TERRA zwar einen Magnetismus, der es der Crew ermöglichte auf ihrem engen Lebensraum Schwerkraft zu simulieren -- aber es war eben nur das: eine Simulation. 

In dieser Simulation eines akzeptablen Lebensraumes ging ein jeder seiner Tätigkeit nach. Sie schliefen, aßen, trainierten, ließen sich testen und waren mal mehr und mal weniger gesellig. Die Piloten lenkten TERRA sicher um Meteoriten und atmosphärische, negative Veränderungen herum. Die Wissenschaftler experimentierten und beobachteten die Veränderung ihres Umfeldes und ihrer Körper. Die Techniker behielten das Schiff genauestens im Auge. Und die Agents von der Special Force blieben in Form und versuchten sich auf das vorzubereiten, was möglicherweise auf sie zukam.

Auch wenn es sich um eine wissenschaftliche Expedition handelte kam die Besatzung nicht um das Mensch-sein herum. So bildeten sich zwangsweise Grüppchen. Eine war die der “Jocks”, wie Yunhee und Eunsook sie über einem wortkargen Frühstück um vier Uhr in der Früh grinsend getauft hatten. Die Jocks, das waren allen voran Jimin, Jooheon und Jeongguk. Kihyun war auch immer mit von der Partie und als Ärzte gesellten sich Shownu, Minhyuk und Wonho oft zu ihnen, da sie die Kartenspiele kannten. Manchmal saß Taehyung dabei, oder Frank der BabyBot, da sie ihn witzig und niedlich fanden. Sie waren dann oft sehr laut und lachten, rissen Sprüche und waren insgesamt eher anstrengend wie die beiden Frauen fanden. 

Wer immer unter sich blieb waren Namjoon, Changkyun und Hoseok, die fast ausschließlich in ihre Arbeit und Diskussionen vertieft waren, denen Eunsook sich manchmal anschloss. Hyungwon und Yoongi blieben auch meist unter sich, die beiden verband Introversion und Stille, in der nur Taehyung und ab und zu Hoseok geduldet waren.

Seokjin war meist in seiner Ladestation oder tauchte wie aus dem Nichts auf, um seine Messungen durchzuführen. Yunhee wusste, dass er den Meisten hier unheimlich war, und sie konnte es ihnen nicht verdenken. Der Android durfte sich abfällige Bemerkungen anhören, die er emotionslos lächelnd hinnahm - für Feindlichkeiten dieser Art war er wahrscheinlich nicht vorbereitet. 

Yunhee war meist allein, sie mied den großen Pulk und saß wenn dann nur zu den Stoßzeiten - also zum Essen und Trainieren - mit in der großen Runde. Sprüche kommentierte sie mit Augenrollen, alles weitere schien an ihr abzuprallen. Eunsook hatte Jimin einmal sagen hören, dass Yunhee genauso emotionslos und gruselig sein konnte wie Seokjin. Sie hatte ihm dafür etwas in sein Shampoo gemischt, das sein Haar für eine Woche quietschorange gefärbt hatte. Als Jimin wutschnaubend durch das Raumschiff gelaufen war und verlangt hatte, dass sich die Person gefälligst entschuldigte, hatten alle nur große Augen gemacht, oder sich schlapp gelacht. Eunsook hatte über den grellen Haarschopf des kleinen Muskelpaketes Yunhee einen Blick zugeworfen, den diese mit einem verkniffenen Grinsen und glitzernden Augen erwiderte.

Seitdem hatten die beiden Frauen ein Ritual entwickelt, früh aufzustehen und gemeinsam zu frühstücken, während das Shuttle noch langsam flog und noch nicht vollends ausgeleuchtet war, wenn die anderen noch schliefen. Meist schwiegen sie dabei, oder Eunsook redete mit ihrer schnellen, vom Schlaf noch rauen Stimme und Yunhee beobachtete, wie sie selbst immer entspannter dabei wurde.

Es kam der Tag, an dem die Erde sich so voll und gänzlich über den Horizont ausbreitete, dass sie innerhalb der nächsten 24 Stunden in ihre Umlaufbahn gezogen werden würden. 

“Laut Berechnungen haben wir nicht einmal mehr zwölf Stunden, da sich -- wie unsere reizenden Wissenschaftler bereits festgestellt haben -- die Ozonschicht der Erde innerhalb der letzten Jahrhunderte immens geändert hat”, begann Hyungwon mit seiner hohlen, eintönigen Stimme. Die Brauen hatte er blasiert in die Luft gezogen, auf seinem Gesicht spiegelten sich die blinkenden Statistiken, die über dem Tisch als Hologramm schwebten.

“Ist das eine Veränderung, die man als positiv oder negativ bewerten kann?”, fragte Taehyung und wirkte dabei etwas geistesabwesend, da er mit seiner eckigen, orangen Brille rumhantierte, die Gläser flimmerten immer wieder bläulich, sein modifiziertes Auge blinkte im Takt dazu.

“Ist das relevant?”, fragte Jeongguk mit gerunzelter Stirn und sein Mund öffnete sich leicht und zeigte große Schneidezähne, als er Taehyung irritiert bei seiner Tätigkeit beobachtete. 

“Naja, negativ wäre, wenn die Atmosphäre um die Erde so.. kann man dünn sagen..? Ich sag dünn - wenn sie so dünn ist, dass ihr Magnetkern uns quasi an sich ran schleudert. Magst du Schleuderfahrten, Gukkie?”, fragte Taehyung und hob seine Brille ins Licht, wischte sie ein letztes Mal an seinem orangen Pullover ab, auf dem die Nummer 015 prangte, und setzte sie auf. Jeongguk presste währenddessen die Lippen aufeinander und sah hilfesuchend zu Namjoon als erhoffte er sich ein wegwerfendes Lachen.

Was er bekam war ein blasses Gesicht und eine besorgte Miene, die alle Wissenschaftler wie STOP-Schilder auf den gesenkten Schultern trugen. Auch Jimin war kreidebleich, Hyungwon trommelte mit den Fingern auf den Lippen. 

Schließlich räusperte sich Namjoon: “Nun, es verhält sich wie folgt: laut unseren Berechnungen müsste die Atmosphäre der Erde, die Ozonschicht, die sie umgibt und schützt und das Leben innerhalb kreiert hat, um ein Drittel beschädigter sein, als sie es zum Zeitpunkt der Evakuierung war.”

Hier machte er eine Pause, er schien seine Gedanken zu sammeln. “Was heißt ‘n das?”, fragte Jooheon stumpft, er wirkte aggressiv aber die Angst in seinen großen Augen war unverkennbar. 

Hoseok, der um einiges schneller reden konnte, setzte nahtlos an: “Das bedeutet für die Erde, dass sich das Leben dort immens anpassen musste. Es ist schwer zu sagen, was wir vorfinden werden… aber es ist sicher, dass es sehr überlebensfähig ist. Wenn etwas überleben konnte.”, schloss er und stieß einen kurzen, hysterischen Lacher aus und fuhr sich mit der Hand durch’s wirre Haar, setzte das drahtige Brillengestell ab und hängte es in die Brusttasche. 

“Und.. was bedeutet das für uns?”, fragte Yunhee in die Stille, ihre Stimme war leise, damit sie das Zittern besser kontrollieren konnte. 

Eunsook leckte sich über die Lippen, ihr Blick war weggetreten, als sie mechanisch antwortete: “Es bedeutet, dass wir stärker angezogen werden. Es wird schwierig, das Shuttle kontrolliert zu landen. Wahrscheinlich wird es eine unkontrollierte Landung. Um nicht zu sagen es wird ein Ab--”

“--oookay, Freunde! Wie wär’s, wenn wir alle noch etwas essen, bevor wir sicher und wohlbehalten auf der Erde landen~”, trällerte der orange BabyBot von seinem Standpunkt zwischen Jooheon und Changkyun, die erschrocken zu beiden Seiten hüpften. Das pixelige Grinsen mit den fröhlich geschlossenen Augen auf dem kleinen Screen wirkte unheimlich angesichts der Situation. 

“Wie soll ich denn jetzt was essen, Mann?!”, jammerte Wonho, die Hände auf die Wangen gepresst. “Ist das so geplant? Konnte man nich’ vorher ausrechnen, dass wir--”, begann Kihyun hysterisch, brach allerdings ab und wandte sich von einem Wissenschaftler zum nächsten. Shownu kratzte sich nur am Kopf, Hoseok wischte sich mit den Händen über’s Gesicht und Eunsook und Changkyun warfen sich einen merkwürdigen Blick zu.

Namjoon hob die Hände: “Okay, okay, Ruhe bitte?! Wir sind alle vorbereitet auf Momente wie diese, oder nicht? Der Kern dieser Expedition ist, dass man so wenig wie möglich voraussagen konnte und wir uns alle in dem Wissen, dass es sehr holprig und spontan werden kann, hier raus gewagt haben!”, sagte er laut über die Proteste der anderen hinweg, seine schmalen Augen dunkel und seine Stimme hart. Eunsook griff nach seinem Arm. 

“Was Namjoon-- unser Captain sagen möchte, ist dass wir es nicht voraussagen konnten. Nicht zu dem Maß. Dieses Raumschiff ist gemacht worden, um auch eine Bruchlandung als eine Landung gelten zu lassen. Wir schaffen das!”

“Das hört sich doch schon besser an! Bravo, 04, sehr lobenswerte Einstellung~”, krähte Frank und auf seinem Screen war eine feierliche Explosion wie an Sylvester zu sehen. Jimin sah ungläubig zu ihm herunter. “What the…”

“Kim hat Recht. Dieses Raumschiff wurde so konzipiert, dass es einem Absturz standhalten kann. Allerdings sollten wir so schnell wie möglich beginnen, alles abzusichern, wenn wir das Innenleben nicht in Schutt und Asche haben wollen..”, kommentierte Yoongi, der sich bis dato rausgehalten und am Tisch gesessen hatte. Seine breiten Hände mit den knochigen Fingern waren schon wieder mit der Technik beschäftigt, auf dem Tisch drehte sich, blau leuchtend und transparent, ihr Raumschiff TERRA. Er zoomte ran, klickte Ecken und Kanten, bearbeitete Codes. Um sie herum begann es zu surren und zu zischen, sie spürten, wie ihre Behausung sich bewegte. 

“Na dann mal los! Alles fertig machen zur Landuuung~”, sang Taehyung schief und imitierte damit den orangen BabyBot, der jubelnd mit einstimmte. Die anderen waren nach wie vor blass, man warf sich misstrauische Blicke zu, es wurde wenig geredet. Alle strömten aus, um in ihren Behausungen alles in Schränken und Fächern unterzubringen, Betten wurden hoch geklappt, Wertsachen verstaut. Die passende Kleidung wurde angezogen, die letzte Mahlzeit und Dusche genommen. Niemand wusste, wann die nächste kommen würde. Wenn eine nächste kommen würde…

Man traf sich wieder im Gemeinschaftsraum, sie nahmen reihum am Tisch Platz und machten eine letzte Lagebesprechung. Die Waffen waren beladen, die Erste-Hilfe-Kits bestückt. Die Technologie lief auf Hochtouren, sie warfen sich unsichere Blicke zu. Seokjin war der Einzige nebst dem BabyBot, der lächelte und Eunsook wusste nicht, ob sie das beruhigen oder irritieren sollte. 

Schließlich verschwand das Hologramm und Yoongi schniefte, beugte sich zurück und Taehyung und er tauschten einen langen Blick. Dann nickte er langsam und stand auf, ging auf seinen orangen Anzug zu und begann, sich anzuziehen. Es raschelte, nach und nach standen sie auf und das Geräusch von Reißverschlüssen, Klicken und Surren erklang, keiner sprach ein Wort. Da waren Namjoon und Hoseok in Glanzweiß, Eunsook in einem matten minzfarben daneben; Jeongguk und Yunhee in mattschwarz, Yoongi und Taehyung stachen in einem glänzenden Orange heraus. Jimin setzte sich in seinem mattgrauen Anzug in einen von zwei Pilotenstühlen und Hyungwon und er wurden wieder surrend ins Cockpit gehoben. 

Die anderen nahmen jeder in einem Stuhl Platz, der eher einer Verankerung in der Wand glich, und es schlossen sich mechanische Sicherungsvorkehrungen um sie. Yunhee erinnerten sie an den Vergnügungspark, den es auf dem Mars gab. Der Unterschied war, dass das hier keine Achterbahnfahrt auf dem Mars war, sondern ein freier Fall auf die Erde. 

“Dann wollen wir mal kontrolliert abstürzten”, hörten sie Jimin’s nasale Stimme durch den allgemeinen Lautsprecher schnarren, hier und da war ein trockenes Lachen als Antwort zu hören. Zahlen huschten über die gebogenen Glasvisiere ihrer Anzüge, ihre Herzfrequenzen und Adrenalinspiegel waren größtenteils bereits hoch. 

Plötzlich, über das Murmeln der beiden Piloten hinweg, die Verbindung zur Station auf dem Mars aufbauten, erklang Seokjin’s ausgeglichene, freundliche Stimme:

“Team TERRA, als ihr Bord-Doktor möchte ich Sie daran erinnern, das Atmen nicht zu vergessen. Und mit Atmen meine ich das korrekte Atmen in solch einer Situation: Tief durch die Nase ein, anhalten und langsam durch den Mund wieder aus. Sie wollen den Sauerstoffverbrauch so gering halten wie irgend möglich. Wird Ihnen schwindelig drücken Sie -- wenn möglich -- den Notknopf, der genau in der Mitte ihres Brustkorbes in den Anzug eingebaut wurde. Im Notfall bin ich bemächtigt, diese Einstellung für die vorzunehmen.”

“Warum ist ausgerechnet eine Maschine dazu bemächtigt?”, hörten sie Jooheon’s Stimme über die Lautsprecher zischen. Überraschenderweise antwortete der Android selbst: “Weil mir im Gegensatz zu Ihnen nicht die Luft ausgehen kann, 09. Ich wünsche uns allen eine möglichst reibungslose Ankunft auf der Erde.”

Dazu wusste Jooheon wohl nichts mehr zu sagen, denn es blieb still. 

Die Hauptbeleuchtung erlosch mit einem Flackern und die Notleuchten, alle in einem grellen orangen, blinken um sie herum von den Fußleisten und der Decke. Ein stetiges, summendes Geräusch, wie ein ferner Bienenschwarm, schwoll an und wurde zu einem wummernden Vibrieren -- die Kraft der Erdanziehung hatte ihr Shuttle erfasst. Hyungwon’s Stimme erklang durch die Lautsprecher, dumpf und knisternd: “TERRA an Delta, Mission wird wie besprochen fortgesetzt. Wir versuchen uns an einer kontrollierten Landung.”

“Delta an TERRA -- wir behalten Sie im Auge. Laut Berechnungen müssten sie mit dem jetzigen Kurs wahlweise in Russland, Korea oder Japan landen. Steuern Sie wenn möglich--”

Hier brach das Signal ab. Das Rütteln und Wummern um sie herum wurde immer lauter, die Herzfrequenzen rasten, der Druck stieg. 

“Okay, wir gewinnen an Geschwindigkeit. Kurs ist nicht mehr zu beeinflussen, lediglich wie wir runtergehen”, schnarrte Jimin mit seiner hohen Stimme schnell über die Lautsprecher. Sie hörten Wonho im allgemeinen Funk jammern, Kihyun bedeutete ihm zischend, still zu sein. Heftiges Atmen knisterte in den Kopfhörern, der Druck auf ihre kleinen Körper im Angesicht der Atmosphäre um sie herum war immens. Eunsook nahm ein Flimmern im peripheren Blickfeld war, Yunhee fühlte sich so, als würden all ihre Organe sie durch den Mund verlassen wollen. Die simulierte Schwerkraft des Raumschiffes wankte im Angesicht des Magnetismus ihres ehemaligen Heimatplaneten, die Notfall-Leuchten blinkten, das Röhren des Alarms bereitete Kopfschmerzen. 

“Es wird Japan, wir steuern auf Japan zu. Bei der Geschwindigkeit können wir nur minimal lenken, wir sollten den Notfall einleiten-”, begann Hyungwon, doch Jimin unterbrach ihn.

“Nein?! Wenn wir den Notfall einleiten, lösen wir eine Hälfte voll wichtiger Materialien und Lebensraum vom Shuttle und haben minimierten Wohnraum-” “-und minimierte Gefahr, einen Krater ins Land zu schlagen und als Suizidfahrt bekannt zu werden?!, rief Hyungwon, er hörte sich kein bisschen ruhig und gesammelt mehr an. Der Druck schien immer noch zu steigen, das schwere Keuchen der anderen schallte durch die Lautsprecher. 

“Wir landen in der Buch-”, begann Jimin, seine hohe Stimme klang zuversichtlich, doch Hyungwon unterbrach ihn erneut. “-du willst auf dem Wasser landen? Weißt du, was für eine Geschwindigkeit wir drauf haben? Da ist eine BRÜCKE in der verdammten BUCHT-” “-laut Berechnungen ist die Bucht tief genug, der Heckbrand wird gelöscht, der Umdruck gelöst und wir behalten das ganze Shuttle-”, argumentierte Jimin, seine Stimme vibrierte durch die Heftigkeit ihres Fluges als ob sein Kehlkopf wie ein Flummi auf und ab hüpfte. “-du bist WAHNSINNIG?!”, brüllte Hyungwon, nun vollends hysterisch. “Und du ein Idiot?!”, fauchte Jimin entschlossen und sie hörten ein lautes, bedrohliches Piepen über die Lautsprecher.

“Was zur Hölle?!”, schrien Jooheon und Kihyun, wahlweise Hoseok oder Wonho schien zu schluchzen, Namjoon schaltete sich mit dünner Stimme ein. 

“Die Bucht, Jimin, die Bucht?!”

Und obwohl es nicht in seiner Macht lag, da der Captain sich ganz auf die Einschätzung seines Piloten verlassen musste, rief Jimin ein beinahe kämpferisches “AYE” aus und gerade in dem Moment, in dem sie dachten, sie könnten nicht mehr schneller und der Druck nicht heftiger werden, schien Jimin auf’s Gas zu drücken. 

Mit einem Geräusch, das sich anhörte, mehr noch, anfühlte, als würde die Ozonschicht sie mit einem Haps einatmen, durchbrachen sie die letzten Höhen.

Das Shuttle TERRA schlug mit höchster Geschwindigkeit und 42 Grad, die Spitze mit Flammen versehen, in die Bucht von Tokyo ein. Sie verfehlten den Hafen von Yokosuka, schlugen auf der Höhe von Yokohama ins Wasser und tauchten wie durch ein Wunder unter besagter Brücke hindurch. Während sie an Geschwindigkeit verloren, steuerten sie auf Chiba zu und tauchten gemächlich wieder auf, wo das Shuttle mit einem gewaltigen Schlürfen beinahe aus dem Wasser sprang und dann dampfend auf der Oberfläche trieb. 

Während des Aufpralls waren mehrere Dinge gleichzeitig passiert: durch die hitzige Diskussion mit Park Jimin war Chae Hyungwon die Luft ausgegangen und eine primäre Blutzufuhr zu seinem gehirn war auf Höhe seines linken Auges geplatzt. Er fiel beinahe sofort in einen komatösen Zustand. Jeon Jeongguk, der auf der Seite der Flanke gesessen hatte, die zuerst auf’s Wasser schlug, erlitt eine heftige Gehirnerschütterung und wurde umgehend ohnmächtig, ebenfalls Jung Hoseok und Im Changkyun. 

Während das Shuttle sich noch unter Wasser befand, regten sich der Android und der BabyBot bereits. Frank verband sich automatisch mit dem Boardcomputer und schaltete die Schwerkraft ab und die Energie ausschließlich auf die Luftzufuhr zu konzentrieren. Kim Seokjin war innerhalb weniger Sekunden beim Zweitpilot und löste diesen aus seinem Sitz, zerrte ihn den Flur hinunter auf die Krankenstation und sprach gleichzeitig mit seelenruhiger, freundlicher über die Lautsprecher.

“Team TERRA. Bitte um Lebenszeichen eines jeden Einzelnen in jedweder Form.”

Es war Husten und Keuchen zu hören, jemand würgte und stöhnte. Der Druck auf ihre Körper schwand und einige lösten sich aus ihren Sicherheitsvorkehrungen. Das rote blinken und der Alarm schaltete sich von Frank gesteuert ab, das beruhigende, blaue Licht schaltete sich ein und die warme Deckenbeleuchtung ging flackernd an. 

Jooheon und riss sich als erster den Helm vom Kopf: “Alter. Was für ‘ne Scheiße”, keuchte er und machte sich sofort am regungslosen Changkyun neben sich zu schaffen. “Fuck, FUCK, helft mir mal?!”

Yunhee und Kihyun hievten gerade Jeongguk zur Krankenstation, dessen Füße auf dem Boden schliffen, da er viel größer war, Eunsook und Namjoon folgten ihnen mit Hoseok zwischen Ihnen, sein Kopf baumelte von einer Seite zur anderen. 

Jimin kam wie ein erschrockener Hase dreinblickend aus dem Cockpit gekrabbelt, er strauchelte beim Laufen an ihnen vorbei: “Wo.. ist Hyungwon? Geht’s ihm gut?”

Im Krankenzimmer stand Seokjin bereits über Hyungwon gebeugt während sich die anderen Mediziner um Jeongguk, Changkyun und Hoseok kümmerten. Seokjin hatte sich aus dem Oberteil seines Anzuges geschält sodass sein Oberkörper frei war. Aus seinen Armen ragten auf der einen Seite Instrumente, die Hyungwon’s eines Auge offen hielten. Aus dem Zeigefinger des anderen Arms ragte ein spitzes, schmales Gerät, das auf den Augapfel zusteuerte. 

Bevor jemand reagieren konnte, hatte Jooheon sich eine Medizinschere von einem Beilagetisch geschnappt und rammte sie mit einem Aufschrei dem Androiden in den Kiefer. Der mit einem Zischen aufbrach, sodass man innerhalb des menschlich wirkenden Mundes durchsichtige, blau leuchtende Kabel sah und Funken sprühten. Das rechte Nasenloch leuchtete bläulich, das Auge wurde schwarz. Doch der Android fuhr unbeirrt vor und seine Stimme erklang nach wie vor freundlich:

“Ich bitte Sie mich meine Arbeit um das Leben ihres Team Kameraden fortfahren zu lassen, 09.” Mit einem Surren bohrte sich die Nadel vorsichtig am Auge vorbei in Hyungwon’s Kopf, der sich nicht rührte, sondern bleich und leblos dalag.

Inzwischen hatten Kihyun und Yunhee sich Jooheon gepackt, der sich heftig wehrte, Namjoon sah ihn entgeistert an. “LASS IHN IN RUHE, MASCHINE?!”, keifte Jooheon und versuchte, sich loszureißen, sein Kopf war knallrot. “Was soll der Scheiß?!”, fauchte Eunsook, die gerade bei Hoseok fertig war und rannte zu ihnen herüber, hob die Hände zum Gesicht des Androiden.

“Es wäre kontraproduktiv mich inmitten des Eingriffes zu berühren, 04.”, sagte Seokjin, sein Ton klang beinahe nachsichtig. Verzweifelt wandte Eunsook sich zu den Technikern um, Yoongi sah nur mit bleichem Gesicht auf Hoseok, dessen Blutdruck inzwischen stabil war, Taehyung erwiderte ihren Blick ungerührt mit einem Schulterzucken. 

“Er hat Recht. Lass ihn seine Arbeit machen, ‘s tut ihm nich’ weh”, vertröstete er die Wissenschaftlerin und wandte sich um, verließ den Raum. Namjoon rieb sich über’s Gesicht und wandte sich dann um, stieß einen Finger auf Jooheon’s Brust.

“Dank dem Herrn oder wem auch immer, dass du überlebt hast. Alle Mann, Lagebesprechung.”

Mit verbissenem Gesicht riss Jooheon sich von Yunhee und Kihyun los und rollte mit der Schulter während sich der Raum langsam leerte. Es blieben nur Hoseok, Jeongguk und Changkyun, die nach wie vor ohnmächtig waren, und der Android mit der Schere im Kiefer, der weiterhin mit fokussiertem Blick und ruhigen Fingern Hyungwon operierte. 

Mit einem verbissenen Schnauben folgte Jooheon den anderen.

Concerts:

Japanese MBB did the OT7 fan chant at MX’s most recent show in Japan.

At one of the recent shows, MBBs holding Wonho slogans and signs were encouraged by the boys to raise them higher.

If I’m correct, I believe Jooheon actually had a ment where he encouraged MBB to raise their signs up. He mentioned that the signs were very beautiful and that he wanted to see them and asked MBB to raise them up one more time. He didn’t specify exactly which signs, but it’s pretty easy to assume he was referring to the Wonho ones because of him mentioning he noticed MBB were hesitant to hold them up and MBB tweeting from that show explained how the ones holding Wonho signs were afraid of holding them up because they didn’t know if they could.

@joohoneybunch created an OT7 fan chant for their final jingle performance and I believe mbb used it

I think that may be it for concerts.

Appearances:

Going back a bit, Monsta X won two awards at MAMA 2019.

Fast-forwarding to more recent events, the active members went to the US for Jingle Ball and it wasn’t too chaotic.

Changkyun said Monsta Truck is about a truck for Monbebe that he wants us all to get on..sure, yeah, def.

When prompted to answer what MBB have taught MX, Minhyuk said ‘love,’ Hyungwon said ‘live,’ and Shownu said ‘dougie.’

They appeared on Ryan & Kelley.

Jooheon had fallen ill prior to coming to the US, but he’s since returned and informed everyone at the last US concert that he’s okay. In addition, at one of the recent shows, he said how MBB have been his strength for getting through his mental and physical sickness.

Back in SK, ISAC commenced and it was...chaotic good?

MX was two hours late - I presume because they had just flown in from America and went directly to ISAC.

MBBs attending ISAC fell asleep while waiting and one of the managers told them to wake up because it was “time to support.” 🥺

MBB said the food provided didn’t taste good.

Minhyuk told MBB to go home and rest.

MX only participated in the categories they had to - I think they were hoping to get banned tbh.

Despite their semi-obvious efforts to lose, MX ended up going to finals.

In addition, despite their efforts to lose and the fact that they had absolutely zero practice beforehand, arrived late, and just came back from the US with probably less than four hours of sleep - they won second place overall.

They’re aware of everything we’ve adopted and bought for them.

SBS/KBS:

The top two major news angencies played OT7 footage when talking about MX. This is very unusual, but a good sign because usually when an idol is terminated and/or no longer respected, they get blurred from footage or cropped out, but there was actually a Wonho focus throughout most of the broadcasts’ durations.

This could hint that the general public no longer views him negatively.

In addition to new merch for the active members, from my understanding, Twotuckgom has also restocked old Bebegom products, and continues putting a small BBG in the comics.

They also had one comic in particular that showcased one of the goms as a magician who is looking for the ‘rabbit in its hat.’ When it looks inside it’s hat, there’s another gom dresser as a bunny lifting weights with a little BBG hidden in the background. I don’t know about you, but to me that sounds like they’re finding Bebegom like we’re finding Wonho.

TTG’s Twitter also retweeted a rendition that a MBB made of the goms involved in the The Ugly Duckling (I think?) fairytale. Basically, Bebegom leaves because it doesn’t feel like it belongs and the other goms search everywhere until they find each other again.

There are projects going on, but I’m not going to post about any until I research them. There’s certain groups I do not support because their intentions are ill, but they hide behind a sort of..veil. When I get time to properly look into everything, I’ll make a post.

Interesting things are happening with the 🐍🐍, but I’m not going to talk about it publicly. Maybe at some point I’ll release a post, but not until more info emerges.

In the meantime, please refrain from leaving negative comments on either of their social profiles. Don’t make posts, either - even if you think your profile is small enough that no one will see. Trust me, eyes are everywhere and a negative post on an account with so much as 0 followers will still pop up and travel like one for someone with 1000 followers.

I think this pretty much sums up what’s been happening as of late. Sorry for being slow - all of this occurred during finals, so I didn’t really have a lot of time to make long posts. Now that I’m on break for a month, I’ll catch up with the recaps and go back to the steady updates.

Continue with your efforts and try to ignore the hypocrites who continue spewing toxicity despite spreading positive mantras.

Honestly, Monbebes have accomplished a lot and made steps towards a positive change in both the industry and the world. In addition, at the end of the day, our goal isn’t to please other fandoms, but win justice for Wonho and other artists who have been wronged, as well as prevent the wrongdoings from incoming and current trainees.

Be proud of being part of the “sticky-note fandom” because regardless of other people’s opinions, we’re not only inspiring and demanding change, but succeeding in doing so.
